Hi there! FoxgirlJay and I are looking for a Dungeon Master to run the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist adventure for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons. In specific, we're seeking the following:

• PbP on E or Discord;  VTT's are a bonus but shouldn't be required.

• We're looking for a light, adventurous, and preferably urban-centric game. It doesn't absolutely have to be Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, but something in that vein is preferred. Something with a bit of a lean towards social encounters and swashbuckling hijinks over constant combat (combat is fine, unavoidable really, but I can live without beating up orcs for two months' of posts)

• For sexual content, we're looking for things to stay in the realm of consensual, maybe dipping into bondage; it's also not the focus we're looking for, so if you just want to run Adventure!™ and skip smut-as-content, that's fine too.

• 100% open to more players than just the two of us. 4-6 seems to be a sweet spot

We've both got some rough character outlines going; I'll let Jay mention hers of she wants, but I'll be going for a Tabaxi dancer-and-maybe-crook, a guy who likes to indulge his curiosity and sticky fingers.

If you're interested in running something for us, drop a reply!

Blinkin

I would be interested in playing. I have a couple of characters to offer, both are thives/swashbucklers.I would be happy to offer profiles if anyone's interested.

Howdy! I'm planning on bringing on a Tiefling sorceror or wizard. Vague sorta' concept thus far, either going for party brain or face role, depending on what ends up feeling better at the time. Not much to add to Chula's request, since we'd discussed the stuff before getting a post up!

Muse

*Smiles*  if you wanted a game like this in an edition i know well enough to run it might be fun to provide.

I don't know 5th edtion that well, though, so I'll just say, "This sounds like fun.  Let me know if you get a DM and have openings."

I've been looking to play in an urban adventure like Dragon Heist for absolute ages, however if no one else is taking the reigns I've also wanted to run this module for a while I'd like to try DMing it. Though if I did would people be cool if I used the Eberron setting and the game took place in Sharn instead? I'm just a lot more familiar with Eberron and Sharn than Faerun and Waterdeep.

Yo, this sounds fun. I'm a scrub DM so can't provide on that front, but I could be a player

Hi Muse, Rummy, Blinkin! Nice to see you guys. Blinkin, FWIW, I was planning on going with a rogue-y type myself; I dunno if exactly the rogue class (though probably), but definitely aiming for that sort of character archetype.

Also hi Ershin! I'd kind of prefer Waterdeep, but if you're better with sharn, i imagine it can translate easily! I'll leave it to Fox to decide on that one  ;D

Sharn sounds pretty cool. Though it gives off less of an urban vibe to me, just because the setting is even more high magic than faerun is. I say I'm down for it though, if that's what you'd like to run!

I have some experience in Ebberon, but that only extends to playing through Dungeons and Dragons Online, that uses that setting. Mostly Stormreach and Sharn.

Blinkin

Hi Guys,

Apologies for the delay in a response; been fighting a nasty stomach bug.

ultimately , I was going to go swashbuckler via rogue and either fighter or warlock. I doubt that the two characters would be too much for a party full of them. ;) Essensially, I'm looking at a reversed noble in hiding by playing a thief with a price on her head hiding as a noble fighter. Just a twist that came to me. She would be trying to hide both her thief tendencies and that she's a girl off of the streets. The great thing about charlotan is the second idenity, just that she's living the secret idenity instead of her real one. Does that trample too much on your concept for a rogue?

The background isn't explicit enough to place her in any one location, so either setting works for me.  I was expecting Waterdeep, but a game is a game is a game.

Room for one more? I'd love for some adventure with a little bit of smut on the side. I'd like to play a futa character if that would be ok. Possibly a Tiefling Fighter.

Is there such a thing as a futa with a little sex on the side? It's always been my experience that there's no such thing as a little sex for a futa any more than the likelihood that their blade is longer then their dick. ;)

I'll be honest and say that while I don't care what you play, it's been my experience that futa's tend to sidetrack games more than help it along; that little sex thing again, but I don't have anything against them, at least not until the game becomes an ongoing orgy.;)

On a more serious note, In a group setting, I've seen two outcomes, one inwhich the futa is ignored, sexually, or they're constantly going at it.   would love to see a happy middle ground for a change of pace. I would love to find someone to play one that way, maybe it'll be you. I want to play for the adventure; the smut factor isn't even on my board at this point.

My idea thus far is for a cleric who's a bit of a slacker. He's been trained rigorously in war and healing, but really enjoys being a bit of a shit, screwing around, and just having fun.

His reasons for adventuring would have to be discussed with DM since it'd be based on what the campaign's about, but for a generalized answer I'd say it's either because of an obligation tied to his past (likely before the cloth) and/or because he wants to get out and cause trouble while playing hero.

I think I could manage a good middle ground. Focus on adventuring and then when we stop at a tavern, I could be all like, "Who wants to take a bath with me.  ;)" We could even fade to black sometimes to really speed things along. Some monsters I might want to fuck though. I would really enjoy getting gang banged by a horde of minotaurs. Maybe to distract them, while the rest of the party gets away.

FoxgirlJay

It's probably better to save thinking about specific sexual content until you know the DM's limits for content.

Revelation

If there's any space left I'd be happy to wiggle in. If not, it's all good!

Omg!  I don't have to play the cleric?  *Screams*

This game starts at level one, right?

Would you preffer an elven bladesinger or a quarterling Monk?

FoxgirlJay

Well, start level kind of depends on the DM that picks this game up.

Chulanowa

As noted in the opening post, smut's really not the primary focus. I mean it's fun and all, and I hope there's space for it, but was more hoping for an adventure-forward experience  ;D

Ershin

Hey all, sorry I haven't been about. Been pretty busy over the weekend.   So currently there's six people looking to play;

(Not sure if Blinkin's text reader can read the text on spoiler boxes so I'll put peoples' names before them)
Chulanowa
Chulanowa - Tabaxi Rogue(?)
Always fun to have a dancer around with sticky fingers.

FoxgirlJay
FoxgirlJay - Tiefling Sorcerer/Wizard

Blinkin
Blinkin - ?? Thief/Swashbuckler/Warlock/Fighter?
Disgraced, displaced, Disney (wanting freedom) or on the run nobles are usually fun! We can talk about nobility in Eberron if you'd like, from the actual nobles of the Five Nations (officially there are thirteen but only five-ish have noble houses), the displaced nobility of Cyre (pronounced See-Ree) or the Dragonmarked Houses (of which you could be a Foundling - a newly found person with a dragonmark, an Excoriate - a person from a dragonmarked house who has been forced to give up on his nobility and exiled, or just one who left the life behind.

Rummy Tum Tum
Rummy Tum Tum - ?? Cleric
There are a number of religions in Eberron to choose from, though the main ones would be the Sovereign Host (a pantheon of nine gods thought of as good but are more tied to civilisation), the Dark Six (a pantheon of six gods thought of as evil but are more primal), the Silver Flame (imagine if Joan of Arc sacrificed herself to combine with the voice of God and a Coatl to seal an archdemon in an eternal silver fire) and quite a lot of others besides

Vreski
Vreski - Tiefling Fighter
Futa is fine, we'll try to find a sweet spot between adventuring and adventuring for you.

Muse
Muse - Elf Bladesinger/Monk

ChangingSaint
ChangingSaint - ? ?

Four or five is what I'd be most comfortable with, but I can deal with six.
I'll get a few questions I want each of you to answer before we get a thread set up proper - While we'll be running off a module (tweaked for a different setting) I'd also like to get character backgrounds involved in some way.

I'll get a character template for people to fill in along with come questions I'd like y'all to answer up tomorrow after work.
I'll likely be starting this at level 2, because level 1's no fun for anyone considering how a stiff breeze can potentially end you ._.

Chulanowa

Eberron's religious thing is also fun 'cause the deities are kind of optional; no one really knows if they're even "real" - it's not like Forgotten realms where you can bump into an avatar of a god every now and then. Eberron more revolves around churches and philosophies and cults; the Silver Flame is worshipped as a Catholic expy church in Thrane, but is also a weird primal holy fire for the orcs of the Demon Wastes. the Lord of Blades, an urban legend among Warforged (or is he?) has a cult following that can gain spells from their own devotion, etc.

Lots of hinky stuff a cleric can get up to  ;D

As for my Tabaxi, I figure he's either descended from immigrants hailing from Xen'Drik, or the shimmerwood Forest / Kingswood on the Zilargo / Breland border.

Revelation

I'd personally like to play a paladin or a warlock, possibly hexblade. Most likely (Variant) human or half elf for either. Background for either might be a follower of the Silver Flame since I really vibe with the Flame, perhaps a warrior seeking to aspire to its ideals or maybe a warlock who's received strange visions and ascribes them to the faith.

FoxgirlJay

I'll get to work thinking on a background, now that we're set on Sharn. Thanks for taking us on, Ershin!

Rummy Tum Tum

#23
Ooh, could be real fun to be a cleric of the Dark Six, especially since his proclivities lead to him slacking on his work (i.e not doing "evil" shit). Plus he'll have the War subclass--or possibly Grave--both of which fit in well with dark, primal forces.

Blinkin

fAlmost right on my character. Although no one should be aware of it, and if someone use the OOC information below, there will be a not i significant conversation for it, the character, either a human varient or half-elf, is a commoner thief impersonating a non-existant noble woman of a little known house far away. Although I'm happy to talk about real families in the world and locations to better fit into the tale. It's a reverse of a noble pretending to be a commoner for some mysterious reason.

The background is below, along with the real story. In both instances, there is a price on her ehad, which may, or maynot enter into the storyline as our GM decides.

Natasha’s story is one of an almost rags to riches fairy tale; the daughter of tradesmen In the favor of the local Baron of the region of Riscmont.,  Natasha’s family was reasonably prosperous  in their community; Jewelers with a talent for fine artisanship and superior skill, they produced the signit ring for the for the Baron’s second son when he reached his majority.

It was during the presentation of the ring in which Natasa’s future would be set and she would catch the eye of the heir of the title.  Although Natasha was only 14 at the time, she was already consideredeligable and arrangements for a courtship was already in negociation with the son of a fine blacksmith when she met the baron’s oldest son; negotiations broke off immediately with the smith. 18 year old Dementri was smitten at first sight and while marriages between noble and commoner weren’t unheard of, for the heir to do so was scandalous at best.Although none of the nobility was happy with the break in tradition, particularly as many had daughters of their own, the Heir Apparent refused to listen to anyone; the saucy girl was the one that he wanted. Soon, they were married and the daughter of a tradesman became part of the nobility, who were forced to accept her presence or face certain ruin at the Baron’s hands.

During the first years of the marriage, the couple grew closer and her efforts at public works and welfair of the commoners made her a well liked member of the house… except for that of her brother-in-law. In his eyes, the whore made his older brother unsuited for the title, inwhich HE should have. Plans and schemes were hatched almost before the marriage was consumated!

In the darkness of a moonless night in autumn, a group of men entered the bedchambers of the now Baron and slew him in his sleep! Natasha would of joined her husband in death, if not for the actions of a maid who had been tasked with checking in on Natasha; who was believed to be pregnant at the time. Although it cost the maid her life, she inavertantly  distracted the men and allowed Natasha to exscpe with little more than her gown and slippers. To make matters worse for her, it had been announced that she had killed her husband and lover (the maid) and fled into the night when confronted. She would have to die, and the child that she carried beneath her heart! A healthy bounty was placed upon her head, no matter where she went.

Claiming the role of a free lance fighter, she continues to run while trying to hire mercenaries to avenge the murder of her beloved husband and restore the title to it’s proper place.

The Real Story

Although Dasha has always been a little free with both her affections and the definition of property, by no means can it be said that Dasha isn’t trustworthy and honest; well, honest may be a little strong, but you work with the words that you have. Dasha has often boasted that she has plenty of morals and principles; she’s never killed anyone who didn’t have it coming, she’s never raped and she’s never pillaged! Nor could it be said that she has ever stabbed a friend in the back, literally or otherwise.

A product of her early childhood; from the moment that she came into the world, on the verge of homelessness and starvation in the city of Vleris, her life couldn’t of been called easy by even the meanest Cur on the streets, never mind those who were living it along side of her.

One of the most valuable lessons that a young Dasha had to learn and understand is that no matter how hard you try, there are only two things that you could rely upon in this life; yourself and those who you can manipulate to give you what you wanted. Then, of course, there were that rare friend who would happily help you to get rid of the body in the middle of the night, figuratively speaking, of course.

Sometimes, life was more than hard for the slender girl with the big blue eyes under all of that midnight hair. It didn’t take her long to figure out that there were people who would happily cut your throat for a copper, or do worse than kill you. The question that had always sat heavily on her mind was ,who was whom at that critical moment. With the valuable life lesson under her belt, Doshah quickly learned, and learned well how to be nearly as bad as the meanest people on the streets… All just to keep her skin in one piece; more or less, that is to say. In the end, all it had taught her was her own belief in herself; that you got what you could in life by doing things that may not be exactly legal, but if people are foolish enough to believe a lie, then they get what they deserve.

By the time that Dasha was 14, she had already blossomed out into a striking, if not conventional beauty and had been working for the local thieves guild for several months. Mainly working as a straight man, errr, girl, for a number of small cons about town; her youth and innocent features (Not to mention her perky boobs) that she quickly learn to use to her advantage. These cons ranged from bait and switch to trading false documents for the sell of entire crop ventures for actual gold coins. After fleecing one family of a significant amount of coin and later seeing the same family on the verge of starvation, Dasha stopped working the con jobs for the guild and swore to herself that she would never put someone into a situation like she had endured as a child!

Within a year though, Dasha was doing her own cons, taking the occasional odd job and doing fairly well for herself when tragedy struck her; A noble from Port Salis had realized that he had been conned by her boyfriend, not by her, which is an important fact here. For a measly 30 gold pieces at that! The con had been the purchase of a “potion of fortune,” that had been guaranteed to give him a full day of good luck and make all of his decisions great ones.

Dasha hadn’t even been involved, but the noble had tracked her boyfriend down; in an attempt to save his own worthless life, her boyfriend  had given the noble the name of Dasha. Her boyfriend died anyway, but had also doomed Dashah’s family. In retribution for the embarrassment of the noble’s fool heartiness,  except for Dasha, who had been out at the time, the thugs of the noble had mistaken her younger sister for her; the death of her sister had been especially brutal and Dasha vowed to extract her own revenge for the death of an innocent little girl.

With the skills that she had already learned, Dasha created a false identity for herself and immediately disappeared into the crowds of artisans; her goal never far from her mind.

Dashah, under her new guise of Natashah Ivanova Bonrinko, Baroness of Riskmont, has become obsessed with gaining money to fund her pursuit of her revenge; taking on any job or task, regardless of the risk, to make more and plan for the night that she would plunge a dagger into the eye of a certain noble. She may even have a bit of a death wish with the risks that she takes.
