I am potentially interested. I'm thinking a human female so far. I'll keep my ear to the wall though.

I'm also signing interest here. Willing and able to play either human or anthro to balance numbers out. Preference on human.

Also happy to play either discord or forum.
Not a solid character concept yet, but likely some manner of a soldier type garrisoning a demon-infested zone defenses. An outpost/village trying to survive.

Well keep the ideas flowing! Hahaha

And this brings me to my other question.

Any thoughts on whether or not we all want to start as a group or do we wish to start off just meeting up? May Abe few smaller groupings or solos coming together?

I am torn between ideas.

What are your ideas so far :)

You're more than welcome to toss a character in the rind for selection.

I'm tentatively thinking a group of 7.  However, I did have it in my mind to max out at 10 players if the interest was there.

The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

I would prefer meeting up. Either solos coming up or smaller groups. 7 or 10 in same scene makes things often little complicated and slow, but I'm okay either way.

Going to echo this sentiment.

Maybe have a few 'areas' of interest as different threads. And characters moving between those as seems sensible?

For example:
- Local Village
- The northwoods
- Eastmountains
- Western Desert
- Southsea & Beach BBQ

Would this be too wild a character?

Rafael's suggestion of a few sub-threads makes the most sense to me as a system of organization! And I wouldn't mind being OOCly available on Discord if that's the route we choose to go as a group.

And that octopus gal is cute!  :-) I wouldn't be opposed to making the setting primarily coastal! Beach scenes are beach scenes even when they're occurring in a blasted hellscape of a crumbling world. Final say is Chree's of course, but I personally vote for octopus girl.

Amarlo

I'm kind of confused on the timeline with the way the summary is written. Can we get a more condensed version? ^^;

Also, for the humans, will we be expected to use art or photos?

In about a 5 year span these events happened.  2 years of normal confusion after people changed, to anthros.  Then the 3rd year in the most appeared. Maybe a month or so after the most, the monsters came.  The story will take place a total of 5 years after people changed.

I'm interested in playing an anthro male character. Myself and Amarlo are in discussions to have our characters already be travelling together before we meet the group if that's okay with you Chreestafer?

Envious

No worries! I have a back-up idea =] I have a concept started and I'm totally open to making connections. I'm going with a wandering musician vibe!

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Player Name: Envious
Character Name: Zoey Mason
Character Age: 28
Race: Snake Anthro
Small Bio: Zoey is a musician. She had been on the verge of stardom when the Happening occurred; her band had just released their first single. They were booking concerts from coast to coast. There were radio interviews and late night shows to perform for. She was on the cusp of becoming a rock legend and she will be forever resentful that life threw a wrench in those plans. The band immediately fell apart. Her parents, several states away, were unable to cope with their new reality. They chose to peacefully end their existence on their own terms. Most of her friends were okay with her new snake-state, but they had their own family issues to deal with. Alone, Zoey spiraled into depression with her shot at fame gone. Eventually, she had to actually address the fact that her body was transformed and her way of life had changed, but one thing was constant: she still had her music. She began singing and playing instruments again and it brought her out of her funk just in time to face a new dilemma: demons!

It turns out that Zoey is a coward and her preferred method of survival is to flee in terror. It's worked very well for her. Due to her disappearing act when demons come, she can eventually wear out her welcome. This causes her to drift to new locations where her musical talent is a novelty and appreciated until difficult times fall. She has been forced to fight on many occasions, and it's always a series of panicked reactions. She leans into her new animal instincts and it has definitely been key to her survival.

She doesn't mind hard work and is very friendly and outgoing, but she actively avoids dangerous situations whenever possible.
Gear: Guitar, finger piano, harmonica, leatherman, a few sets of clothing, jewelry, travel-sized personal hygiene items.
Weapons: She has a poisonous bite and an extremely strong tail.
Skills: She can sing, play most instruments, and "see" in infrared, detecting heat.
Fears: Demons, being booed off stage.
Connections
Photos: Note: she's completely covered in scales, I just couldn't find a picture I liked that reflected it.

might change to this

Chreestafer

I'm liking what I see so far.

You're ok to make connections and all, but all characters are going to be considered, but not all will be accepted.  This isn't to dissuade you. Just saying.

c0i9z

Player Name: c0i9z
Character Name: Anthony Vales
Character Age: 25
Race: Rabbit
Small Bio: Anthony had been in his third year if his engineering degree when the event started happening. And well on his way into getting it in his fourth as well, a rare feat to be sure. He had heard the rumours of people changing, of course, strange happenings, becoming animals or... animal-like? He didn't think much on it. Even when he started growing some extra hair, he only took it as some sort of late-onset of puberty. At least, at first. But soon, as it spread, it became clear that he was becoming part of a growing minority, soon a growing majority of people who had become victim to some sort of strange... condition. But even then, as confusing as it all was, society still existed. People needed to be fed, things needed to be made and he had an education to finish! Especially since the doctors said that there was basically nothing wrong with the new animal-like people. Health-wise, at least. And so, he did continue and he did manage to make his four years, by the skin of his teeth. He had even managed to get a decent entry level job just out of college. Sure, there was still a bit of confusion, but even the human purist had mostly calmed down once it became clear how much of a minority they really were. Overall, it seemed like Anthony would be able to come to terms with this new world and his new, furrier self. That was, until the fall came.

Anthony had stayed late that night, working on a crucial piece of some project or other. He never noticed the fog, but he certainly did notice the blaring alarms. He didn't know what they were or why they were there, but he did know that he didn't feel safe in the open. But he did know where he would feel safe. His company had a machine shop, mostly used for prototyping. It was small, but well stocked and, more importantly, thanks to all the expensive equipment it contained, had very strong doors, with very good locks. Lock to which he just happened to have the key. He went straight for them, slamming the door shut behind him just as the electricity failed.

The banging went on all night, and for quite a bit of the next day, but the doors held easily. Leave it to an engineering firm to set up some good construction. Once everything seemed to have calmed, he took careful inventory of the resources he had available, then an even more careful look outside. Nothing. Worse than nothing, an eery calm now surrounded the building, as well as the buildings nearby.

Anthony never saw any of his coworkers again. But he did remain in the building, taking up residence in the machine shop, trading maintenance and repair to those who would come in exchange for food and necessary supplies. The number of people who have come his way have slowed, however, and he has started to think that it might soon be time to leave his place of safety and brave the outside world.

Gear: A change of clothes and a well-stocked toolbox
Weapons: Nothing specifically, but a solid hit with a good spanner can certainly leave a mark.
Skills: Mechanics, electrics, electronics
Fears: his earlier experience, spending the last few years, and perhaps a burrowing instinct have given him a touch of agoraphobia. And he's not particularly comfortable with weapons either.
Connections: ???

Anthony's cute.  :-) And I love the idea of characters having no context for the outside world until the actual onset of the RP.

c0i9z

Thanks! I could also have it so that he just took a toolbox with him and ran, if that works better.

Envious

I updated my character sheet for your consideration. Please let me know if any alterations need to be made.

Gremgoblin

Chreestafer, can I ask what became of the wildlife? Do we have new creatures in the world too, perhaps carried over from the demon's world? Is it just "furries" that are new in the world, or did the demons carry other races with them too (though, perhaps not playable) that are perhaps not exactly friendly but not unfriendly either? Do we have any idea yet what the demons look like?

I'm looking for a character concept that isn't "generic human in a world that is no longer human" or at least puts an interesting spin on that, and I'm sort of thinking of a stereotypical sniper recluse that doesn't trust furries but doesn't hate them either. Not that I dislike furries, it's just that the OOC mentions that humans distrust furries (and frankly, first people turn into furries, then the demons arrive? Seems too coincidental for it to be a coincidental thing) so I figured I'd play off of that. However, snipers are cliché and boring, so I'm going to think that one over.

Armphid

I am also going to express interest here, though I understand if you already have a full slate of players.  I was thinking of a human character, and had two ideas in mind, one a male and one a female.

The male character that I had in mind would have been a college student who worked at a public library and in the aftermath of all that's happened has sort of taken over the library as his home and defends it and what is there with the idea that he is trying to preserve knowledge and share it as best he can.  Having a character in a fixed location could be problematic though, so perhaps he ranges out to find books and expand the knowledge safeguarded at the library too.

The female character I had in mind would have been a zookeeper at a large city zoo before everything fell apart.  She'd feel very drawn to anthros while also being a bit scared of them. I hadn't thought out what she would be doing other than just trying to stay alive, possibly seeking out partners or a group to be a part of.

Amarlo

Hi Armphid! ^^

Also, here's my concept for now. Most things are pretty negotiable.

Lucille Diamond Torres
Player Name: Amarlo
Character Name: Lucille Diamond Torres
Character Age: 27
Race: Afro-hispanic
Small Bio: Lucy was fresh into her third year of college and working as a part-time barista when The Happening swept across the world. She can still remember the overwhelming outrage, terror and confusion that possessed people in that first year. So many people had changed, lost and confused as to why. Suddenly vets were more relevant, and caught right in the middle of a growing controversy about their practices. Meanwhile Lucy was just trying to make ends meet and finish her degree in library science.

When the mists proved they weren’t just any ordinary fog, an already chaotic world fell off its hinges and went spiraling into the deep. Lucille was in one of her courses at the time. You would think that such educated individuals would be more suited to take on these circumstances, but you’d be wrong. Her first two weeks was spent barricaded in the school library while her surviving peers kept pointing fingers and throwing paranoid assumptions towards one another. After all, what if it happened again? What if more people went mad? What if the demons were just another step in the evolution of the anthromorphs and every one of them eventually turned?

The last few years of Lucy’s life fell into a harrowing routine. It didn’t matter what was the cause - Illness, madness, demons, hunters, cannibals, abduction, starvation, battles with other survivors - one way or another she would find herself their lone survivor. She went from one group to another, only to watch more people die as the world crumbled. Today she is certain she is cursed, like a Black Dog sending an omen of death before all that witness her.

Gear: 3 used Garbage bags, wooden walking cane, Backpack filled with– 3 plastic peanut butter jars containing pickling meat(don’t ask what kind) or bugs. A bottle of vegetable glycerin, four and a half pool tablets, one can opener, one P-38, a screwdriver, a ball-pein hammer, small wire roll, a couple of wads of cut and cleaned cloths, small sewing kit she is terrible at using, a box of nails/screws and bolts, and a gut-hook onion skinner.
Weapons: Cast Iron Pan
Skills: (Improvisation, Librarian, Athletics)
Fears: Getting Attached, large spiders, living
Connections: Montagne’s character. Open to more as well.
