I put this in the one on one Roleplay requests; but I want to gauge a group interest. I LOVE storytelling and hope those interested would like to join as well.

2 groups of three who are adventurers who have answered the call to glory. They wish to have their names written on the Wall of Heroes. (Think of it akin to the mad mages tomb, or test of starstone) Many have come and very few have succeeded. The test is grueling, and the two groups have come to an understanding....to make their name they must make it together or they will die.
Consider this a high level campaign, endgame territory. There is room for action, adventure, smut, and danger.

This is your final task, and completing this you may ascend to something akin to godhood.

WOOO!

So here's the nitty gritty details.

Character creation
Dice roll generation OR point buy
For dice rolls roll 4d6 and drop the low 6 times. If the total sum of your 6 stat rolls equal less than 60 you can re-roll.
Point buy: Total points 39: All stats start at 8 and to increase a stat value by one up to  10 costs 1 point, 11-14 costs 2 additional points, 15-16 is 3 additional points, 17-18 is 4 additional points, 19-20 is 6 additional. So if you wanted a 20 stat (+5) it would cost 36 points.

Allowed materials: Any printed media from D and D official or Unearthed Arcana (Please include link if it is UA)

Character starting level will be 14!

No starting equipment but gold allowance is 13000.
3 uncommon magic items and one rare is allowed for purchase
-----------
I don't have any fancy BCC code for character sheets so use what you see fit to get the stats included if you wish
For character images I am not picky. Anime/realistic/high art are all good in my book

Ummm...I don't think this math works...unless I'm not reading it correctly?

8 to 10 = 2 points
11 to 14 = 8 points (2 per level)
15 to 16 = 6 points (3 per level)
17 to 18 = 8 points (4 per level)
19 to 20 = 12 points (6 per level)

To get a score to 20 would be 36 points total

StryxRiver

You’re right. I did my math wrong! I’ll correct it.

I'm really interested.

I don't have my books to hand, can you tell me if the point buy system you're proposing is different from the one in the PHB? If it is different, how much would the standard array cost?

EDIT: I found my books. It is very different.

So:

10: Costs a total of 2 points.
12: Costs a total of 6 points.
14: Costs a total of 10 points.
16: Costs a total of 16 points.

Is that right?

This sounds fantastic.  May i play?

Is there any particular setting this takes place in?

  Perhaps a high elf bladesinger?

Fluenteria Songwind--in an alternate world.

Korentin Songwind is a minor nobleman from a remote territory in the Great Elvenowod.  His home is a crystal tower in the middle of the wyldwood.  A few tree houses can be found strewn about for a few miles around the tower.  Several bands of wood elves pay their tribute to the Queen of the Wood through Korentin, and the Queen pays tribute to the human emperor of the continent--for she was a lover and boon companion of his ancestor during the Unification Wars long ago.

Korentin is a good man, well loved by his people.  In return for the labor they offer him, he uses learning and magic to enrich all their lives, and add to their security.

Korentin is also passionate and fertile.  He has two wives and three regular lovers.  Between them he has 3 sons and four daughters.

Fluenteria Songwind is Korentin's second youngest daughter.  Her mother is one of his official wives--Alisonora.
Though still inocent in her 115th year, Fluenteria has much in common with her father.  She enjoys the arts, and sciences, scholarship and magic, but she is also serious about her duty to defend elvendom and the whole empire.

As a child, she showed an aptitude for magic.  As she has grown, Flueneria has followed an elven traditional martial art, weaving magic, swordplay, and music together into a harmonious whole.

Some day, the young woman knowes she will be called upon to defend her people--as several of her siblings serve regularly through the many undead attacks.

Since her hundred and eleventh birthday, she has traveled beyond the elven wood, studying history and magic, tempering battle skill and knowledge with experience, and testing her many skills against their nations's undead foes.
Many beyond the elvenwood stumble over her name.  She has accepted the nickname 'Flute' in honor of her favorite instrument.

Looks pretty interesting.

For character, I think either a moon druid or blood hunter (assuming that second class is allowed)

EDIT: I found my books. It is very different.

So:

10: Costs a total of 2 points.
12: Costs a total of 6 points.
14: Costs a total of 10 points.
16: Costs a total of 16 points.

Is that right?

That is correct. It is WAY more expensive to raise a stat with this system than the normal point buy. Getting more points to spend basically doesn't matter if the cost is higher. After doing a bunch of number crunching and test arrays, you basically can't get a high ability score without tanking everything else. It's basically a wash, in the end. The normal system would have rendered about the same results anyway.

snowdrop

I'll keep an eye out for this!

It seems like with this system, the standard array does actually cost the exact 39 points, so it seems quite equal -- it's just quite difficult to get multiple really high stats, and anything above 15 will be really expensive! But then again, at 14th level there's going to be quite a few opportunities for ASIs too  :-)

StryxRiver

I understand that it may seem a bit uneven for the point buy, but I wanted to make it fair for the dice rollers who also cannot easily attain those higher numbers.
Also if one desired; since this is a level 14 campaign stats can be raised through ability score increases granted for levels in class. So you can easily raise some scores up by a few points even when multiclassing.

However I’m flexible! If people aren’t getting good stats I could raise the point pool just a bit.

As for setting this isn’t in any canon forgotten realms area. This is a land that is west of Faerūn, one that has holds ancient secrets, such as the gauntlet the characters will be going through. The gods of faerūn are known here, but worship of them is not as common. The “dead gods” rule this land, gods that have been forgotten by the sword coast.
Magic, creatures, the infernal and the divine work the same as normal book standard.

Zaer Darkwail

As a question how the pricing on the magic items are determined (basically what source we use)? As there is couple variants online which give different pricing on stuff. Anyways I went with the roller (so I know what stats I get and thus class);

14, 17, 14, 17, 12, 15

Well, not going argue with those stats :P.

If the total sum of your 6 stat rolls equal less than 60 you can re-roll.

Are you sure that's where you want to set your minimum

that would mean that if you got 10 in each of your 6 ability scores, you couldn't reroll.  Dead average character.

I'm trying to think of who I could make with this >_>

You could play a well meaning bard who is more of a lover than a fighter.
An excitable wild sorcerer who knows not the chaos that they can unleash
A fighter who has skill, but comes off as very gruff and uncouth

Muse

  Just to make sure...

If I try to roll, and don't get a result lower than 60, i can't switch back and use the point buy?

My advice? Make hexblade (use Cha for everything). Just place score to Con for some HP and Dex for some defense (unless take heavy armor proficiency). Or as suggested go pure caster or bard who is less of fighter but more a lover/negotiator (or scholar as college of lore).

Dreaming Space

You could really easily play a half-elf rogue with a 20 dex. That covers your attack, defense, and a lot of your skills.

I will allow it. I want people to have fun, especially if they have their hearts set on a certain archetype
