I am kind of leaning towards the second last elf, but the first elf is my favorite. They may or may not be futa depending on everyone else's preferences. If a healer is needed I may play a dragonborn priestess, that may or may not be named Freyja.  ;)

Thx, they all look adorable.

But going to keep my first images I think cause first image fit well for monk with way of the Astral self.

Hmm, so far i've been working on a Wood Elf Shadow monk. I'm not sure if i want to go monk 11/Rogue 3 or Monk11/Ranger 3

Not sure which direction to go. I think the rogue would be better at hit and runs while the ranger gets some nice things to keep me in the fight longer. And both have really fun flavor aspects that are always great. ugh! Decisions decisions.

I don't see why it wouldn't as long as its a finesse weapon. The monk martial arts just says you can use dex instead of str, not that they count as finesse.

I like the added flexibility that rogue gives, but ranger has access to some really nice spells too. Hunters mark on a monk is really nice

@Stryx: Mind giving a bit more detail on the setting? I'd love to tie my character into the world. Also, any alignment restrictions? And what would you say the plot/smut ratio will be?

Iska - Shooting Star

This tiny kobold believes to be the reincarnation of the once mighty dragon Shooting Star. Through rigerous training she has honed her body, even able to manifest some of her former glory in the form of her astral self.

In her early years when she was just a hatchling, Iska's clan got whiped out by an overzealos lot of misguided adventurers. Somehow this tiny kobold had been overlooked. On its own, she somehow managed to sneak herself into one of the mayor cities, hiding herself among the many street urchins inhabiting the slums. No one would look twice to expect a kobold among them. Her sneaky kobold ways easily helped her impress the other local children and in turn helped her aclimate to other species besides kobolds.

Then the dreams came. A giant draconic entity visiting her each night with glimps and images of former glory. With enough training and discipline, Star could awaken her spirit ancestry and the strength of the former dragon Shooting Star. Now many years later, Iska has honed her body and mind, elevating her tiny kobold frame to heights most wouldn't expect from a small scalie.

On one faithful day she somehow got dragged into a skirmish and managed to help out a group of adventurers. Recognising her skill, she got 'adopted' into the band and over time, the little kobold managed to make some renown of her own, hopping from one adventure into the next an slowly reawakening the name of Shooting Star.

Iska's Astral Self manifests itself as the disembodies claws and/or head of a mighty dragon.

The land of Miyar (Mee-Yar)
This area is inhabited by humanoids, that's not to say beastial societies don't exist..they do. It's just equivalent to the main cities of the world and the most remote ones.

The capital city is Buburo: A common pastime around here is participating in contests of magic or slight of hand...anything that brings a bit of oddities into the mundane.  That being said, the practice of Magic is quite commonplace. The local countryside is mostly hilly and smattered with fruit-bearing plants.  It also hosts a bog that hosts a village of those who delve into the darker arts. The land is lead by a council, whom the people regard fondly. The ruling class are called the Athene and typically are composed by those adept with magic or wealthy merchants. The head council man is known as Valar Kriess

This is still a growing land, and there has been some unrest in the past with expanding borders. The rival land of Tavena (Taa-vee-nah) is a monarchy that wishes to bring Miyar into their fold. The king is known as the Silver Knight, there are rumors that he's a half Orc but noone really knows for sure. He always keeps his court at a distance and holds few engagements. The face of the kingdom is known as the Sapphire Archer, a Triton of great skill and wit

Strange looks for sure, but not an overall prejudice. More curiosity and possible ignorance by the populace at large.

Sounds interesting.

Will the adventure start with out arrival in Miyar, or will it cover our travel to the land? It all fits well with me character anyway, since after Barovia Taralinde was heading for Candlekeep, on the Sword Coast, anyway. I guess the mages there told her to keep going west! :)

Is their a way to get a +1 on unarmed attacks/damage or can a monk only get those while wielding weapons?

I may have missed it somewhere but how are players being chosen?  I noticed that it was only supposed to be two teams of 3 and by my count there's more than 6 people that have presented characters.  Just the characters with the best fit, player, combination, first-come-first-serve?

In Tyranny of dragons module there's the Insignia of Claws.  Uncommon item, no attunement.  +1 to attack/damage for unarmed strike and natural weapons.  I don't have the book handy but a google search tells me it's Hoard of the Dragon Queen Pg 94.

Its what I feel would be the best party...not necessarily by skill.

I COULD make it three teams of three since there is sufficient interest. I just have to be mindful of juggling the large group as a whole.

Another question if I may;  how are the planeshift PDF's viewed?  As far as I know they aren't "official" D&D content but, from what I understand, written by D&D writers.  They're free downloads and seem to be around the level of UA (in my opinion) as far as quality and balance goes. 

I don't have anything specific in mind.  Just asking for the sake of exploring all available options.

Perhaps, but the monk is more about maximizing hits and damage by being able to throw the most attacks per turn. And the fact that by a certain level their fists count as magical weapons.

However the archetype Kimera picked leaves bit question mark does monk strikes still count benefit from Ki empowerment or not (albeit I think they still do but it's not confirmed) and second the archetype asks sacrifice bonus actions and thus cannot flurry (and thus not use archetype features). Plus side it narrows down in stat focus so that Kimera's char uses wisdom for attack and dmg rolls.

Uhu. Well just wanted to know all the options.

And it actually doesn't matter all that much cause with the astral self, those astral arms she summons count as monk weapons, so that trinket wouldn't even work...I think.

For equipment, I think I'll give her a cloak of elvenkind (5000, uncommon) + boots of elvenkind (2500, uncommon) for better sneaky and a ring of protection (5000 3500, rare).

This leaves 2000 gp left for other equipment like tools, clothes etc...maybe a weapon?
