Pokemon Goldeen Rush (Freeform Gijinka pokemon)

It's that Pokemon game I kept promising I'd run and forgetting to actually do. The premise is simple, the newly founded city of Flotsam (Literally a city on boats that landed to become a sprawling and not exactly super organised landing point) is going to find out just what is going on in the Jelly Isles, starting hopefully with why someone thought to call it the Jelly Isles. There's fortunes to be made and with no gambling laws Flotsam is already a place to make and then lose a fortune really quickly.

The Cast can be explorers, shop owners or just general neer-do wells who have flocked to all this new money and mystery in the hopes of a better life. Or improving an already very good one.

Freeform system so ain't no rules to worry about. Aiming for a fairly chill game where there will be hyjinx, but no world ending plot unless someone really wants that. I'll throw stuff at players who need it but it will generally be low to no threat and possibly very silly. Or it might be wrestling, you can't stop me doing it.

The cast!

Yes it's Gijinka. Ain't no humans here. Jelly Isles isn't set up to handle the care of mass amounts of regular pokemon yet so there's a strict two Pokemon limit on new arrivals.

Gijinka in this universe run the gamut, but fighting is a lot less of a big deal than it is in our universe and commonly accepted as something that people just need to get out of their system. Preferably without hyper beaming to death the building around them.

It's a freeform game so again there ain't no rules. Just try to keep it vaguely on theme to the powers you'd expect your chosen Gijinka's pokemon to have and it's all good.

Name: Abel
Gijinka Type: Jellicent
Reason for seeking your fortune: After making a nuisance of himself within the mainlands, he decided to stowaway and try his luck in places far removed from that setting. It just so happened to be his luck that he managed to wind up at Flotsam. Equal parts merriment, curiosity, and necessity are his driving force for his activities within the Jelly Isles.
Planned Playstyle: Treasure Hunting, some thieving on the side
Background: For as long as Abel can remember, he's always been fascinated with adventurers and explorers who brave the unknown and emerge with treasures never before seen or heard of. Often raised by his older, more studious brother while his parents went abroad, the young Jellicent often passed his time watching cartoons, playing games, and generally living the most carefree life one could ever. There was never any drama or damage in his life (unless you count the messes and mistakes he made growing up, then there were plenty of those),  and so he turned out fairly sociable and alright... More-or-less. Because no matter how normal your life may seem, someone else would surely feel otherwise.

So it was, as Abel grew older and he decided he wanted to try his hand at treasure hunting, like his parents and all his other favorite, fictional heroes did before. Of course, it wasn't until the first attempt that he learned there was a distinction between treasure hunting and thievery... But he still found excitement and fulfillment in it all the same. At first it was just minor things, but eventually began to escalate into more major thefts, taking requests from others to filch people's goods for someone else. It would eventually get to a point that he was becoming a little too well-known among informants, and so suggesting he quit while he was ahead, his brother opted to get him a ticket so he could get out of dodge while he could.

It was also an excuse for his younger brother to really stretch his tentacles and try to do what he always wanted to in a more unknown environment, though he would never know the ticket was bound for Flotsam... At least until Abel called and let him know where he was. Despite the unknown territory he was in now, he felt more at home and at peace with the unique settlement, surrounded by water and living amidst various boats and ships of all sizes and makes. He finds himself not alone here, joined by what he considers his two partners in crime: A Mareanie stowaway looking for easy food and a Klefki with a penchant for letting itself into wherever it pleased.

Together, the trio make up an independent group of treasure hunters and explorers willing to make excursions into the Jelly Islands to bring back anything of value they can, but more often than not also get contracted for more menial work... As long as it pays them to keep food on the table and a shoddy roof over their head, they can't complain.

Background: A tale as old as time, where Carol thought a degree in Art History would be enriching and fulfilling. Sadly no one told her about the bill until she was done with it, and a retail job was, just, crushing her soul, man. So she ran! Hopefully her creditors wouldn't know where she'd gone because she was just DONE paying them. This new place seems nice. Maybe she can crash on couches for a bit?

Name: Haruka Morinokuni

Reason for seeking your fortune: Flotsam's a new town - a new place means there are plenty of plants to discover!
Planned Playstyle: Botanist, Herbalist, provider of plant-based hijinks produce

Background:
Haruka belonged to a family who has made their renown in the fields of botany, her great, great grandparents being founding members of what was now known as the Royal Botanical Society. Life was spent mostly on studying plants and Grass pokemon in the safety of her family's estate, as well as meeting with various important individuals in social gatherings that were mostly dull and uninteresting. She felt her environment at the estate very stifling and did not offer her much chance at growing, and jumped at the chance of signing up when word of a new town being founded was looking for men and women to help set it up.

Her parents were surprisingly fine with her decision, allowing the girl to get a firsthand experience at life outside the confines of the estate. With necessities for a life in the frontier packed in a few luggage together with the basic tools for study of plants, Haruka was off into life without any idea of what to expect save for freedom from doting eyes.

Haruka enjoys spending time under the sun as well as dips in fresh water. She is also skilled at making sketches of still life from her experience drawing various plants and pokemon, and has done illustrations to help with her parents' works. Haruka has been taught that one should always help others in need, but ends up getting roped into situation that end up outside of her expectations. She has a tendency to be a little air-headed, and is slow when it comes to matters most people know.

Despite her love for most Grass Pokemon, Haruka has a strange aversion towards Bellsprouts and their kin due to what she describes as the "Bellsprout Incident". She refuses to elaborate further from the name, as just the thought of it would cause her to release Stun Spore from her cap. That said, she does end up releasing Stun Spore when agitated too much.

Current Pokemon: Haruka is frequently accompanied by her two pokemon bodyguards
-Altaria - the reliable of the pair, she makes sure Haruka's needs on a day-to-day basis.
-Bellsprout - the "helpful" of the pair, Haruka keeps him in his pokeball as much as possible only for him to slip out. He makes sure to stick to Haruka whenever he's out with a good use of vines, and is overly protective of his master. It's not afraid to use Bullet Seed at whatever threat it perceives aiming for Haruka.

What is the Best Pokemon?: Golurk. Because SUPER ROBOT POKEMON that can FLY \+.+/

Reason for seeking your fortune: To open his own bakery and become a famous pastry maker!
Planned Playstyle: Explore to get ideas and create the best biscuit ever
Background: From a young age Silver had his eyes glued to candy and sweets, and chocolate and cookies and cakes and .....well anything sweet in nature, his parents lived next to a small quaint little bakery and they both worked there, his father was a baker and his mom a server. So from the time he was born he was around the sweet scent of rising bread. From the time he could crawl he always had his hands and his feet and every other part of his covered in ingredients, the owner of the bakery was fairly lax in letting a baby romp around the kitchen as Silvers parents were loyal and hardworking.

As a teen Silver spent his school days drawing designs for cakes and thing of flavours on weekends he would do delivers for the bakery and once a month the owner would let his try and create one of his ideas, and sell them in store, this didn't start off so well, at first all silver had to offer were burnt offerings and over flavoured cakes, but over time he began to flourish. As he grew older he decided to go away to culinary school and really hone his craft. He's recently graduated and is now planning to open his very own shop.

Name: Robin
Gijinka Type: Ditto
Reason for seeking your fortune: Getting away from bad rumours and starting fresh
Planned Playstyle: Construction, domestic work and definitely probably not anything criminal. Maybe.

Background: Being a Dittgijinka brings with it quite a few unusual problems as well as a few opportunities. Their gooey nature might, perhaps, be shared with Muk and Grimer, but Ditto lack the smell and other issues of the poison types. However, their ability to change shape and mimic the forms of others has caused a certain reputation to develop. And for quite a bit of Robin's life that reputation was something they lived down to.
Getting into places they really shouldn't, selling information and just a bit of theft, those kept Robin quite comfortably well off for quite a while, even before the advantages given by having some quite strong pokemon on hand were thrown in.

A Honchkrow associate of theirs became something quite a bit more than that but then a previous victim decided to get revenge through rumours.
And their partner in more than just crime was eventually convinced enough to leave Robin, shortly before the birth of their daughter, not that Robin ever told him.
Robin and Kay (her precious little Murkrow baby) tried to continue life but it eventually became very clear that a fresh start was needed and Robin was quite happy to give it a try.
Maybe this time they can have a nice honest life.

After all, Ditto are practically infamous for their libido

Reason for seeking your fortune: He's a hedonist, so the pursuit of pleasure will always scratch the right itches that crop up from time to time.
Planned Play-style: Construction and bodyguard work. He needs to pay for his pursuits somehow, and he has the muscles to back it up.

Background: Despite how he looks, Cal has always been more of a lover than a fighter, even if he is pretty good at fighting. His red eyes and intimidating presence (thanks partially to his height of 6'4") have always seemed to rub others the wrong way, usually resulting in making others somewhat wary of him as he grew up. While he might look like the stereotypical Bad Boy, Cal is actually a little softer at the core and not as aggressive as other Charizards. Unless, of course, you fuck with someone he cares about. Then he might not hesitate to fight back and use some of that fighting he had picked up over the years.

Reason for seeking your fortune:Fame! Fortune! Excitement! Mostly Fame!
Planned Playstyle: She's out to become a star! In a place like this, it should be easy, right?

Background: Azalea is from the Kanto mainland where she steadfastly pursued her dreams of mega-idol-stardom even as she found herself sidetracked in the exciting field of food service - waitressing at a Lenny's or a Benny's or Denno's or whatever they call that place in this world in order to avoid copyright infringement. This was definitely not what Azalea wanted, and tips were poor anyway, so she did was any self-respecting up and coming megasuperyottastar would do in the circumstances - she looked for a venue where the competition might not be quite so fierce, at least until she had demonstrated her own invincible levels of talent and took the civilized world by storm. It's sure to happen any day now. Really. Any day. Just you wait.

Name: Bryn Lumen

Gijinka Type: Midnight Lycanroc

Reason for seeking your fortune: Bryn had difficulty  in getting into a job that fit him due to his appearance. He was strong despite his small size but his appearance made it hard to get taken seriously. In the end in order to find a job he liked and prove to himself that he could be more than just a mascot he left to start a new life somewhere else in the city of Flotsam. One where he was able to get the kind of job he wanted without having to worry about being thrown out just because of his small stature.

Planned Playstyle: Leading a scooter gang or at least trying to form one!

Background: Small at 5’0” but far stronger than one would expect someone his size, Bryn spent his time entranced with the stories of heroes, adventurers, soldiers, and leaders of all kind. He wanted to become just like them. He was sure that once he evolved he would get a massive growth spurt and be able to do just that. Unfortunately for him things didn’t turn out quite like that. His growth spurt wasn’t anywhere near as big as he had expected and he remained rather small, making it hard for him to get he kind of job he wanted. He traveled aroud trying t ofind a job that would accept him and let him put his strength to use however it never happened but that was when he heard about Flotsam and knew just where he had to go.

Things in Flotsam weren’t exactly the best and like before he had issues getting a more physical job despite having good fighting skills along with his strength and normal jobs didn’t end well. Usually ending with something broken usually by accident. Things didn’t seem like they were any different here than anywhere else until he found a broken motor scooter lying in an alley. It took a while butu eventually he fixed it up and discovered  how fun it was to ride. It was during one of these rides that he finally managed to hit his new purpose, quite literally. He accidentally ran over a robber shaking down a merchant in the city and he got paid to help the merchant out! Then people started to pay him for protection and a small group of people began to follow him around to help out! He wasn’t sure what was going on but he’d found a job protecting people for money. It wasn’t what he had initially imagined but he finally had a job he enjoyed and he wasn’t going to let anybody take that away from him.

Name:  Mira 'Mirabelle' DuValle

Reason for seeking your fortune:  Embarrassing Scandal back home.
Planned Playstyle: Actual Construction Specialist, Would be Beauty Queen
Background:  Mira got her start in a family of tough fellas.  No, really.  Adopted though she was, Mira was raised by Jean Claude Duvalle (a Meditite tournament fighter) and Harold 'Hoss' Smith (a Honchkrow foreman extraordinaire) who made sure she got off to a good start.   Great and caring parents that they were, Jean Claude encouraged her and helped her refined her fighting style, and Hoss taught her the finer points of working hard and yelling at people.  Though Hoss himself would insist that he taught her more about tools than anything else.

Mira survived school, though she had few, very close friends due to her somewhat gruff exterior and she didn't really value much she learned that couldn't be applied to the trades.  Truth be told, in her final year of education, the very tough and usually unflappable young woman found herself dabbling with beauty.  Normally, this was not a dangerous move for a young lady, even one who had no idea what she was doing.

However, fate thumbed its nose at her as she entered a Beauty Contest and, while doing well enough in the actual event, was mocked relentlessly in the papers for her wild hair and wearing colors that clashed with her pokemon.  When a radio host talked about the event and did not discourage his listeners from getting in on the fun, she became a laughingstock in her local region.

Having just turned nineteen, she drowned her sorrows at the local bar (the bartender didn't dare ask her for ID), and heard about the Jelly Islands from some disreputable prospector or another.  Bidding her fathers a tearful farewell the next day, she decided to go to the Jelly Islands, lick her wounds and make lots of money, and become a Beauty Queen...or at least rich enough that she wouldn't care.

Reason for seeking your fortune: Li seeks to redeem herself for her past life of misdeeds, to open up a nice quiet tea shop where surely nothing interesting will happen
Planned Playstyle: Aged mentor guiding rancorous youths
Background: Wei Li was, at one point in her life, a well renowned street fighter. She wandered the world, getting into scuffles with everyone from the Sixty Scrafty to the various gangs of Celadon City. But, eventually, she just grew tired and weary. There had to be more to life than just fighting one person to the next. So in between throwing people through walls and bodyslamming thugs into cars, she did some soul searching. Why, after all, was she doing all this? Was it for the thrill of it? No, that had worn off years ago. Money? The earnings from bets meant she was set for the rest of her life, money wasn't really an issue.

Then, she heard of Floatsam. An island where she could get a fresh start. Settle down, maybe find someone to spend her life with. Wei Li gathered the rest of her belongings and set forth, looking for a nice fresh start.

Name: Evelyn Reeves
Gijinka Type: Shiny Eevee
Reason for seeking your fortune: Her older brothers are too overprotective, and she’s never gotten to ‘make’ anything of herself in her life. She left with her twin, Devlin, to the new lands, since he’s more of a medical specialist and who doesn’t need a Doctor? Evelyn is more of a Jill of All Trades so she dabbles here and there.
Planned Playstyle: She likes to dabble in just about anything, so she’s willing to learn what others have to teach.
Background:
Oh man, where to start, well Evelyn is very firmly the youngest of a horde of eevee children. Her mother is a rather well known Sylveon Gijinka that enjoys traveling the beauty circuits, while her father is an Umbreon that is involved in law enforcement. Together the two gijinkas had a horde of children, 13 total. Evelyn is the youngest, and she and Devlin are the only Twins in the group. Their oldest sibling is a good fifteen years older than them, though not many can tell how old the Reeves actually are. It seems like her older brothers span across the wide span of the Eeveelutionary possibilities. They have every 'volution of differences in their family, her and Devlin being the only ones that have remained just plain eevee types.

Evelyn was always a protected and guarded child, as the only female child, with female eevee being quite rare, she was sheltered - but even more so for her coloration. As a child, she constantly tried to find ways to get out and do more. Her brothers were always around her, especially Devlin. Devlin actually took up an interest in being a doctor because of how often he had to patch his twin up.

One would think to be the youngest of such a horde of children would warrant her more freedoms and spoiling, but that was actually not the case. Evelyn's father wanted to instill a good work ethic in her, so made sure that if she took an interest in something - she could learn a little bit about it. This was mostly to help her find what she was good at, so she could make a decision on what kind of pathway she wanted in life, Eevee types have a lot of possibilities wrapped around them, and Evelyn just didn't know what she wanted in life. So she wanted to try it all!

As she grew into a curious young woman, she found that she was quite attracted to the boys in her school. Having been sent to a specialty private school for most of her life, her 'high school' years were not spent being a Pokemon trainer - but were instead spent on learning alongside her twin. Boys were cute, she liked boys, too bad she couldn't do more than steal a couple of kisses here and there before her brothers would descend like scavengers and pick apart the males she was trying to enjoy her time with.

This lead to a bit of a rebel phase that has lasted even till now, she does what she can to enjoy life - but it seems that her family has other plans for her. She wants to be her own person, she's tired of getting blocked from finding a partnership, she gets it - she's rare - but she wants to be able to pick who she wants, not whatever her parents are arranging. Which is in part why she left with Devlin, she saw the stack of letters on her mother's desk.

While traveling her mother had been finding suitable 'pure' males to potentially marry her daughter to. Evelyn was having none of that and took off with Devlin the moment he mentioned that he was going to Flotsam. She knew there was something up with her brother, as he had been off after Catherine vanished - that's why they started traveling so much to help with his depression. While traveling in the Alolan region she actually ended up rescuing a creature on a mountaintop, later she found out it was what was called an 'Alolan Nintetails' - it looked like nintetails but was an ice type.

The damn thing has decided to follow her around. It's not her pokemon, she's not interested in owning it, in fact, it's been more of an annoyance than her brothers combined!

Character Note: Evelyn stands at a whopping 5' tall, she's tiny and feisty and doesn't care that she is.
Current Pokemon: Alolan Ninetails - She does not own him, he follows her around. She will jokingly call him any variety of ice-based names.

Reason for seeking your fortune: Expand his horizons, get over heartbreak, avoid an arranged marriage (For both him and his sister)
Planned Playstyle: Physician, he likes fixing up people. Even if he himself has horrible habits, like smoking and drinking... and some other things.
Background:

His childhood was spent mostly keeping Evelyn out of trouble. She was very rambunctious and liked to roughhouse and play in places she shouldn't really. She may not remember the incident, but one of Devlin's defining moments - that helped him decide, even as a child, to become a Doctor, was when there was a problem on one of their camping trips. Evelyn had tripped up an Ekans nest, and had gotten bitten - she was badly poisoned and he had to do emergency treatment to keep her stable till she got to a pokemon center.

She has no recollection of this moment, and that is in part why her siblings are so protective of her. She doesn't know it, but they all do.

Going to school was fun, he made it clear he didn't want to be a Pokemon trainer - not like some of their siblings - and instead moved on to getting a higher education, right alongside his twin. Their private school had dorms and was for all ages, so at any point and time, there were at least six Reeve males that were in school with the others. Sometimes they would check out for a term and travel for a bit, Devlin and Evelyn would do the same sometimes, but it seemed that the 'Reeve' issue ran strong in Evelyn. Her brothers knew what they could be like, they were adorable and charming most of the time - it was easy to get partnerships...

Then again it was also to get children, most of the older Reeve males happened to have children by the time Evelyn and Devlin were both mature enough to be looking for partners of their own. Except... Devlin and his twin were not free like their siblings. Devlin was told he was allowed to have dalliances, even relationships, but he was to behave himself because there was a potential of a marriage contract with a family from another region. He continued going to school, and fast fell in love with a stunning Skitty that he was all swept up with.

Something happened while he was away on a trip with Evelyn, and his darling Catherine was no longer waiting for him. The Skitty gijinka had all but up and vanished, and that's when Devlin took to drinking and smoking - despite the medical profession he was pursuing. It was late one night that he overheard his parents talking about how they had force Catherine away for the betterment of their children since they had found a wide variety of possible suitors for their twins. All their other children got to choose their pathway, but Evelyn and Devlin were bound by their parents' wishes.

That was until Devlin announced to his family he was going to Flotsam, it was new, it needed people - and he was going to go to 'heal his heart' so he could look towards the future. Little did his parents know he has no intentions of coming back, and he took Evelyn with him. Now he can just hope for a good future, and to find something to bide his time with. He's not completely prepared for how crazy Evelyn is going to get with it just being the two of them, but he's also more than happy to let his twin have a chance at the future she dreams of... no matter where it might be.

Character Note: Devlin stands closer to the 6' range, meaning he's a good whole foot taller than his twin - makes for quite the interesting image between the two.
