Intimate Ink

This looks iiiinteresting.  I will play around with some ideas, likely around the Sorcerer bent.

TLDR: Interest.

Interested as either a shifter (Asian based, such as a bakeneko or a tengu) or a greed based demon host.

I think a Bakaneko would fall under werecats in this game? They could call themselves that though, certainly. Tengu could probably be their own shifter subtype, potentially. Open to suggestions.

Nice to see you around and have your interest either way.

I think you're right, a bakeneko would be a werecat. Would a tengu be a wereraven?

Thanks for the welcome:-)

No problem.

Bakaneko was a thing I looked at but based on my research they fit well enough into werecats. There's a few things out there that I saw but ultimately if I tried to include everything I'd have been worldbuilding for a year. So things that slotted easily into other subtypes got a bit left out.

Tengu I will differ to your knowledge. My knowledge of them is based on wikipedia. It seems like they take their names from a dog-like spirit but they are more avian in nature so probably a wereraven if that's close enough?

Edit: Haunted Doll has been added.

I'm debating adding Oni, possibly as a Grotesque. Though I generally expect Grotesques to not be too popular for somewhat obvious reasons.

I also really feel like I'm missing some Half-Human Half-X 50/50 split creatures for the Twisted. If anyone remembers any I'd happily add more there.

VonDoom

Classic mythology critter wise? Uhhh ... sphinx, maybe? Though I guess that's more 10/90.

Edit: Also, the Haunted Doll came out neat! It doesn't quite match up with the fuzzy outline of a character I had in mind when I made the proposal, which was a lot more geared towards the Twisted aesthetic, but there's loads of potential characters within the framework, so plenty to think about still.

as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may  prosper,
but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

Totoro

It's an interesting one. I like the riddles but I don't know a sphinx would work out visually. I'll think about it for sure.

VonDoom

Heh, response came too fast. I edited in a reaction to the haunted doll in my post above.  ;D

Edit: Also, Oni seems like it might be a culturally/visually distinct Troll variant?

I think Oni has enough to make them distinct from trolls, potentially.

And, oops. Sorry it wasn't quite right but I'm glad it's still cool. The Twisted are a bit of an odd category. So far interest's been reasonably spread.

They definitely would. The word means 'monster cat,' and encompasses a wide variety of cat yokai (maneki neko, nekomata, etc.). Trying to include everything is a great way to write a novel ;)

I won't bore you with the etymology of how tengu came to have a dog-derived name when they're avian creatures ... Japanese is an interesting language. Wereraven is close enough.

I'll ponder for a bit and figure out which concept grabs me more. Thanks, Sun.

Can't quote to reply as your whole message was in a quote, but that sounds good to me. Let me know if you have any questions.

Amarlo

Well, if it helps, I plan for one of my characters to be of the were-raven variety. x3

How fascinating, you definitely have my interest. Not yet certain what manner of character I’d bring to the table, I’ll definitely ponder on it.

Are all naiad gentle?  Wondering if Rusalka-types fall into that category.

Happens! I do too, with some bits of it.

Basically all the personality traits of everything are a guideline. It's usually the monster that holds those traits but the person can have any traits at all. A gentle person might be a very under control and mostly calm berserker, for example.

I don't know much about Rusalka but from a cursory search they'd be entirely workable as a Naiad. You could use the 'I am notable for' to include 'being notably aggressive for a Naiad'.

Are we allowed to make faceclaims at this points? If so, may I reserve Jang Dong Gun and Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

Yes!

Done and done.

Considering the interest already it's safe to say this game is recruiting now.

Awesome! Thank you :-)

No problem!

Just so people are aware I will be finishing the Slayers at some point but they are intended to be a minor part of the game and are a low priority.

I'm working on CS's for the Club's owners/Firm bosses. Then a detailed description of the Club itself. And then a spellbook, which will probably be one of those 'eternal W.I.P' things as magic is so convoluted by nature. I will be trying to include some fun basic spells and all but magic is intentionally going to be impractical and not overly 'spectacular' in this game.

Lyrical

I have submitted my application to our lovely GM's.. I do hope I got you both. Sun I am familiar with but Jess I have not met before.

I am very interested in this! So very interested. (And also so many lovely people!)

I'm going to slap down a tentative FC claim on Fawad Khan and Waris Dirie, but I'll probably play only one of 'em (and perhaps someone else?) - I'm currently trying to settle on a concept, but will most certainly only be bringing one concept to the table to start with given current bandwidth.

Glad to have the interest, both FC's are noted.

Ouroboros

And in true me fashion, I've promptly scrapped my initial concepts and face claims. I'd actually like to reserve Keith Morris, please and thank you.

Alrighty, on it!

Kuroneko

A quick question:

Is there a limit on how old these characters can be? I've read in the world building thread that they shouldn't be 'ancient masters;' but as cursed creatures, could they be outside the normal human age range?
