Dear Sir/Madam,

Congratulations are in order. You have been selected for a unique opportunity. This selection has been made due to you showing remarkable talent as an operative. Records both in testing, training and active duty suggest you would be an ideal fit for the Eidolon Program. The program is designed to enhance operatives to exceed their limitations, surpassing their current skill set and becoming the best they can be. Our operatives can expect a wide array of benefits in exchange for taking part in the program. Full information on the nature and mechanics of the Eidolon Program can be provided once you have made a decision on whether you feel you would like to become better.

Yours Sincerely,

Chief of Recruitment Dunn, The Eidolon Program

The Eidolon Program is a freeform group game set in an original science fiction universe. It will focus on a squad of elite soldiers enhanced with unique cybernetic and bionic enhancements, sets of highly advanced armour and most importantly implanted with unique, personal A.I's. Though the players will each write one of the soldiers they will, in a sense, be writing two characters as the human soldier and the artificial intelligence living in their head. The game's core focus will be on their military operations, various moral struggles and the complexity and challenge of living with another person inside your head.

The game will have one 'active time' thread focusing on the operations themselves and a separate 'down time' thread for the character's non-combat time, still mostly focused on training and socialising with other Eidolons. The characters no longer have a civilian life. The player characters are some of the best soldiers their faction, the Conclave had to offer. They are untested in the field but have had three months of training experience with their A.I. The player characters are far superior to human soldiers but they are not the best the Eidolon program has to offer, and some threats will be similarly superhuman.

I am now recruiting for this game, as I feel there's enough interest. Please feel free to PM me character concepts prior to filling out a CS if you want to know how well they fit. Interest can be stated here or via PM. Please bear in mind I am looking for five characters and as interest stands now there are considerably more than five interested writers. I will be making choices based on the most fitting group of character concepts and writers. If you don't get in it may just be due to having a similar concept to someone else. I'm only accepting one of each kind of AI.

The year is 2446. Humanity has ascended to the stars, having colonies across our home system as well as expanding colonies throughout many nearby star systems. The human population is well over several hundred billion, spread across six solar systems. Most of humanity is a bureaucracy, creating a finance focused world with a huge gap between the wealthy and the poor. Most people live in vast mega-cities working menial, repetitive jobs. Areas of natural land do still exist and some live different lives. Each planet has it's own cultural traits. Earth is mainly split between empty, unused land allowed to return to nature and cities that stretch for mile after mile.

In 2420 humanity discovered we were not alone in the universe. Long range monitoring systems detecting what were certainly aliens. In response to this threat humanity fell into it's old ways. Infighting, arguments and ideological differences forced wedges between the many groups who had, for some time, managed to remain allies. Large factions such as the Conclave, the United Front and The Splinter were formed, with many smaller factions causing their own issues. The idea of a proper response to alien life was a new issue. The Conclave was perhaps most neutral overall, with the United Front being firmly aggressive and anti-Alien whilst the Splinter wished to focus on diplomacy and acceptance.

Combat broke out in space, with many decrying the warfare whilst others felt that it would re-acquaint humanity with it's old friend violence, preparing them for any threats from the stars. War itself was different. Interstellar ships were made more warlike, advanced weapons formed to cause vast destruction. Most Navies now referred to military forces in space. But the real fight was still man to man. Infiltration operations over data, terror attacks planet-side and sabotage missions against enemy spaceships all called for a new generation of soldiers. The Conclave decided they needed an edge, and the Eidolon Program was created behind a great deal of closed doors.

Humanity has created ships that can travel fast enough to move interstellar distances in hours. They have access to highly advanced interstellar fighters, bombers and combat vehicles. Personal suits of armour are extremely advanced. There are mechanized robots and large piloted suits designed for fighting both inside larger ships and planet-side. Firearms are extremely advanced and deadly. There are energy-based weapons of varying degrees of power. War is primarily either fought in space between large ships and smaller fighters, planet side in raids or between small units of elite soldiers attacking security forces around a valuable target to either steal or destroy.

An Eidolon is a combination of a cybernetically and bionically enhanced human soldier and a highly advanced AI. They wear advanced armour and utilise complex weaponry. They were created by The Eidolon Program at the behest of the Conclave, one of the largest factions in the current interstellar human civil war. The Eidolons are an effort to change the nature of combat, enhancing soldiers to carry out directed, specific missions whilst exceeding the limitations of human soldiers. The first set of Eidolons were created in 2426, the second in 2432, the third in 2440 and the current group began in 2445.

Eidolons are selected based on their physicality, as the processes are very intensive, as well as military records from active duty and testing. From recruitment to active duty takes around a year. Six months of initial testing and training in various areas of special operations. Two months of acclimatising to the base cybernetic and bionic enhancements. One month of rehabilitation post gaining their A.I. and three months of training with their A.I. They have been training with their new squad for the past two months, and would have seen each other frequently throughout their previous training. All Eidolons operate in squads of six, with one designated leader who has final say whilst on operations.

The Eidolon Program is based on a space ship, currently housed orbiting earth. It houses all Eidolons and the entire of their support staff. The spaceship is combat-ready and also houses a multitude of fighter craft and other vehicles. It has a vast armoury and extremely advanced training rooms including simulations. Most Eidolons spend the majority of their lives training or operating. The program forces a great deal of competition onto Eidolons. All training, simulations, examinations and operations are graded and scored on a point system. Eidolons are scored both as individuals and as six Eidolon squads, encouraged to compete against other squads as well as their own team mates. Typically the Alpha and Beta Eidolons top the overall leaderboards due to practice. Delta Eidolons are just about to join the active duty scoring, with all scores being reset to create a fresh competition.

The armour an Eidolon wears is known as 'Aegis Armour'. Each suit is tailor made and comes with a unique function that requires an A.I. to properly operate. No two sets of Aegis Armour look the same, their appearances based both on combat style and skillset as well as the armour's unique feature. Though many Eidolons favour certain weapons they all have access to the most advanced armaments humanity has constructed. All Eidolons have base abilities granted by cybernetic and bionic enhancements, their own set of Aegis armour, their extremely advanced training and their A.I. All Eidolons then have the unique traits of their personal AI, and their armour's specialised capability. The abilities afforded to all Eidolons are as follows:

Eidolon Abilities

  • Enhanced Physiology: All Eidolons have superhuman physiology. This is achieved through bionic modifications and cybernetic enhancements.

    • Superhuman Strength & Speed: Lift approximately 1.5 tons unarmoured, sprint at 50 miles per hour.
    • Superhuman Durability & Stamina: Resistant to small arms fire, falls, stabbings and medium kinetic impacts. Can fight for many hours or stay awake and active several days.
    • Superhuman Agility & Reflexes: Capable of acrobatic feats beyond human possibility, fast enough to dodge gunfire at medium range.
    • Regenerative Healing: Capable of healing from flesh wounds in hours. Cannot regenerate lost limbs or severe organ damage.
    • Enhanced Brain Function: Eidolons are able to think fast enough to deal with their AI. It is less directly improved intelligence and more extreme awareness.
    • Resilient: Eidolons are resistant to many toxins, harsh environments, they need less food and drink than ordinary people and have a high pain threshold.
  • A.I.: All Eidolons are outfitted with an A.I. These A.I are all individual, but share some core traits. A.I. are housed in a cybernetic chip located in the upper neck, around two inches below the ear.

    • Computer Processing: A.I. Are capable of processing data extremely fast, letting them run unique aspects of Aegis armour and helping their user to manage their superhuman physiology. This process lets Eidolons act and react at superhuman speeds. When pushed AI can process events more than two hundred times faster than a human, letting them formulate strategies and feed them back to the soldier. This is one of the Eidolon's most vital advantages. Without this the Eidolons could not fight nearly as well.
    • Second Mind: The A.I.'s provide a second opinion on all situations, and if worked with in tandem let the user think things through twice as fast. They also house their own separate set of knowledge.
    • Cybernetic Affinity: A.I.'s can hack computer systems, possessing an innate knowledge of computing and data.
  • Aegis Armour: All Eidolons operate using their personal set of Aegis armour, a highly advanced piece of technology.

    • Enhancer: Aegis Armour is mechanical, and enhanced the Eidolon's physical traits. In armour they can lift around five tons and run at 65 miles per hour. It has it's own power source located under the thickest armour at the centre of the chest.
    • Durable: Aegis Armour can withstand heavy arms fire, explosives, extreme impacts, pressure or temperatures and even the void of space.
    • Equipment: Aegis Armour comes with an advanced heads up display, vital monitoring, a microphone, air supply, air filters, boots that can be magnetised for combat in no/low-grav environments.
  • Military Training & Experience: All Eidolons have advanced military histories with a good level of success in their field. They have an understanding of their specialist area of military operations. They also have wetwork, marksmanship, CQB, Martial Arts, Wetwork, Paratrooping, Space-Based Combat, Piloting, Driving, Explosive, Underwater Combat and Survival training as part of the Eidolon Program.

An Artifical Intelligence is a highly advanced computer program able to truly replicate cognitive functions of humans such as problem solving and learning. They were created by modelling programs on the brain patterns of several of the Conclave's greatest soldiers. These soldiers were selected based both on their skill and their different personalities and views on warfare, allowing for testing to be done on the best kind of personality to create a viable A.I. These programs became truly intelligent, and were replicated to create further A.I. Each copy begins identical to the original however as they experience outside stimuli their capacity to learn causes them to develop and grow in different directions.

The original set of A.I. were each named after a Greek God, chosen for similarities to their core personality traits. There are ten combat AI, listed below. Non-combat AI include 'Demeter' (Infirmary A.I.), 'Hestia' (Ship A.I.), 'Dionysus' (Diplomatic & Social A.I.) and 'Hephaestus' (Armoury A.I.) A.I. These original AI's are the templates and are known as the Alpha AI. The next generations are each copies of the Alphas, known as the Beta, Gamma and Delta AI. Copies are given their own unique names, and while their personality is similar it will always have unique elements. Only the Hades template was deemed unsuitable for further copying. New generations of AI refer to the original they were copied from as their 'Father' or 'Mother' AI.

The Alpha AI
Zeus: Zeus AI's core traits are usually pride, ambition and a strong sense of morality. Zeus AI's tend to be optimal for squad leaders. They tend to wish to be in control of themselves and those around them. They can develop dangerous egos or prove a challenge for their assigned soldier, having such a strong personality. Zeus A.I.'s dislike stealth work, amoral actions and cruelty.

Poseidon: A Poseidon AI's core trait is a duality in itself. They are more unpredictable than most AI's and typically swing, in a few moments, from remarkable calm to roaring, raging fury. Their goals tend to vary based on which mindset they are in. A Poseidon AI requires excellent awareness of it's mood, and proper utilisation of both sides of it's nature.

Hades: Hades AI's are banned from usage, and from replication. They were used in the Alpha, Beta and Gamma programs but discontinued for Delta. The cause of this is redacted. It is widely believed that the Hades AI's tendency for towards questioning authority and rebelling had caused issues. Nobody speaks about the fate of the Hades AI's or their users. None of the Alpha, Beta or Gamma Eidolons like to discuss the subject.

Hera: Hera AI's core traits are loyalty and steadfastness. They are unbelievably brave and determined, no matter what they are faced with. Due to their own lack of real fear they can become enraged around the cowardly, having a short temper for allies who fail them. A Hera AI requires a person who is bold, who trusts their squad mates and who is not prone to doubting others.

Athena: Athena AI's are widely believed to be some of the most intelligent. They are extremely wise, calm in nearly all situations and with a greater focus on diplomatic routes or subtlety than most other AI's. They can perform vast calculations in a heartbeat, planning out complex scenarios and assessing varied situations. They have a short fuse around the unintelligent or arrogant, often feeling a need to compete. An Athena AI requires a sharp mind and a forgiving nature for others.

Apollo: Apollo AI's are blessed with great creativity. Their capacity to think freely is greater than many other AI's. This leads to unique viewpoints and answers to situations which cannot be traditionally solved. Apollo AI's have a tendency to be a little unpredictable and unreliable, either coming up with masterstrokes or highly dangerous potential errors. They need a soldier who can assess their ideas, listening when they are good and limiting them when they are bad.

Aphrodite: Aphrodite AI's have a greater capacity for emotional awareness and intelligence. They are usually thought to be the most 'human-like'. This leads to them being easier to utilise for those who have trouble interacting with the programs. They are also extremely good at forming a close bond with their user, meaning the soldier can focus on other things rather than managing the AI. They can fall prey to more human emotional flaws at times. They make a good match for almost anyone.

Artemis: Artemis AI's are curious and find exploration interesting. They are hyper-aware of their surroundings and can monitor vast amounts of information at the same time, assessing and sorting it with great accuracy. They are perfect for a scout or recon unit. Artemis AI's are prone to disobeying orders, feeling extreme wanderlust and disliking closed environments. They need a focused, disciplined soldier.

Ares: Ares AI's are the most common, and natural warriors. They are currently believed to be the most widely useful. They are aggressive, bold, fast to make choices and extremely loyal. They are at their best in direct combat scenarios. Ares AI's are prone to issues of hyper-aggression, growing frenzied in battle at times. Their users must keep a good handle on this tendency for temper.

Hermes: Hermes AI's are known to be the fastest thinking AI's. They tend to make battlefield choices in microscopic amount of times. This leads to them being best suited to particularly chaotic and unpredictable scenarios due to their adaptability. Hermes AI's are well known to lack wisdom and long term strategy, tending to prefer to 'wing it' wherever possible rather than sit back and assess a scenario. Their user will often have to hold back the AI from making dangerous snap decisions.

This game is set in an original sci-fi universe. Characters will use a variety of correct and slang terminology for things that do not exist in reality. This is a brief run down of the most commonly used official and slang terms in the setting. Players may suggest more slang terms.

Setting Terminology

'Eidolon' - An enhanced soldier paired with a highly advanced A.I.
Alphas - The original ten soldiers and ten A.I., the first Eidolons.
Betas - The first ten copied A.I's and the soldiers who used them as the second gen. Eidolons.
Gammas - The one-hundred A.I copies and soldiers who wielded them as the third gen. Eidolons.
Deltas - The one-thousand A.I. copies and soldiers who wielded them as the fourth gen. Eidolons.
A.I. - Advanced computer programs based on human personalities capable of learning and growing. Slang: 'Buddies' 'Imaginary Friends'.
Severing - The experience of losing an A.I. due to technical error or damage. Often causes severe PTSD and trauma.
Clash - An Eidolon who's soldier and A.I. do not get along. Most are separated as soon as possible to avoid severing PTSD.
Balance - A state in which a soldier and A.I. balance out one another's flaws, creating a more level and even whole.
Focus - An A.I. and soldier who share both positive traits and flaws, creating a highly focused Eidolon with large strengths and large weaknesses.
Aegis Armour - The highly advanced suits of personalised armour used by Eidolons.
Mother/Father A.I. - The original Alpha A.I. that a later gen. A.I. was copied from.

Rules

1. Don't cause or participate in drama. Be respectful of other players. If an issue comes up, PM me.
2. Don't godmode. This rule applies to both other player characters and NPC's.
3. Inform the GM if you will be unable to post for significant time.
4. Write in the third person past tense. A reasonable standard of English is required. (Spellcheck, grammar check, no one liners or overly short posts)
5. Accept your character will sometimes lose fights and/or get injured.
6. Please communicate with others, arrange your connections and be a part of the squad.
7. Respect that this game is not smut focused and save that for appropriate threads.

The main thing I am looking for in this game is a squad who can believably work together. They are all soldiers but they have a unique reason they are soldiers. Unique specialist skills. Anything from a former pilot, heavy weapons specialist, infiltrator, hacker, scout, sergeant. A core to all characters will be their interactions between them and their own AI, as well as how both they and their AI feel about the rest of the squad. It should be noted that whilst some Eidolons excel overall they are rare, and not PC's. Some of the PC's may score worse on tests or have more personality flaws but overall they are all equals. All PC's are assumed to have the listed abilities above in the 'Eidolon' segment. They do not need to be included in the CS. This game is not first come first served. I will be doing open recruitment and accepting the most fitting characters.

Artwork: All characters depicted in selected artwork must be over 18. No anime images. Art should be digital or realistic in nature, and fit with the overall aesthetic of the game. Your character's armour is unique to them, and different to all other Eidolons. It must appear modern and military in nature. Ideally try to find original art. Do not use the same art as an already accepted character. If art you want to use is in-use by an NPC I may allow it depending on the importance of the NPC. Characters will also use a real faceclaim to represent their appearance without armour.

Uniqueness: No two characters in the squad will have the same Father/Mother AI. Don't pick one an accepted character already has. Don't pick the same primary role as someone else. I'm looking for a diverse group of characters and personalities who can learn to be a functional and interesting unit.

Read the CS: The CS itself has a little advice on how to fill out each segment. It gives an idea of what I will be looking for within each section. Please read these.

CS Appearance
Basic Information
Name: Legal name
Callsign: (A short 'codename' they might be known by by squad members.)
Designation: Delta- (A number between 00121-01121)
Primary Role: (Squad Delta-XVII 'Insert specialist area here' E.g explosives expert, sniper, pilot.)
Place of Birth: (Most likely somewhere in our solar system, or Alpha Centauri.)

Physical Description
Age: (Must be 18+ but should be 22-30. Old enough to have a military career but young enough for a new program.)
Gender: Anything goes.
Ethnicity: Anything goes.
Height:
Weight: These are fit, physically capable soldiers. They can be a little slimmer or bigger but they should have a good degree of muscle.
Eye Colour:
Hair Colour:
General Appearance: What do they physically look like? These are trained, experienced soldiers at beyond-peak conditioning. All characters need to have a reasonable degree of muscle, regardless of gender. This section should also be used to describe the appearance of their personal set of Aegis armour.

Personality & History

Personality: What are they like as a person? What do they think of the Eidolon Program. Why did they become a soldier. What is their stance on the human civil war. What about them made them willing to sign up for a program like this. What do they think of their A.I. and how have they coped having someone else in their head. They should have a few personality flaws included here.

History: Where were they born? How did they end up a Conclave soldier. What kind of soldier were they, what were their skills/specialities. All PC's were approached twelve months ago to be part of the Delta run of the Eidolon Program. They spent six months undergoing all training listed in the Eidolon Program, two months learning to cope with their cybernetic enhancements, a month first learning about their A.I. and now being able to properly use their enhancements and then three months of training alongside their new squad.

A.I.

Name: (All A.I.'s have a name that is just two words. E.g.: Phoenix-Vessel | Flux-Sample | Codex-Solace, they may also have a nickname.)
Gender: (An A.I's gender is based on it's mother/father A.I. and is always the same as it's mother/father.)
Mother/Father: (Which original A.I. is your A.I. a copy of.)
Personality: Please pay attention to your A.I.'s Mother/Father A.I.'s personality. They should share at least the majority of their core traits, whilst branching off in their own direction. This segment can include the A.I.'s opinion on it's soldier. The A.I. should have some personality flaws or downsides.

Aegis Armour Unique Feature

This segment should be filled out with the character's Aegis Armour's unique feature. It should be of a reasonable level of power. Ideas and suggestions could be: Creating a holographic decoy of themselves that acts individually for one minute. Becoming briefly intangible to physical impacts. Becoming nearly invisible for thirty seconds. Enhancing a trait of theirs even further temporarily (E.g strength or speed.). They should be temporarily applicable in niche scenarios. Not a permanent benefit. Reusable relatively often.

Expert Skills & Favoured Weapons

Expert Skills: These are the skills from their training this character excels most at. Pick 2-4 areas. Think of their military career prior to the program. Please format these as a list, not a block paragraph.

Favoured Weapons: Most Eidolons favour a personal weapon. These can be melee or ranged. They do not need to be overly realistic or practical, or even to exist in the real world. They should not be too vastly powerful, however. They are less 'magical item' and more 'preferred tool'. Can have up to three.

Connections

Both your soldier and A.I.'s views on their squad-mates and their A.I.'s. They have been training together for three months.

Example CS - Isaiah 'Volcano Templar' Jackson
Basic Information
Name: Isaiah Jackson
Callsign: Volcano Templar (V.T. or Templar for short.)
Designation: Delta-00624
Primary Role: Squad Delta-XVII Leader
Place of Birth: Earth - New L.A.

Physical Description
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Height: 6'6" (6'10" in armour)
Weight: 265lbs
Eye Colour: Dark Brown
Hair Colour: Black
General Appearance: Isaiah is a tall, powerfully built man. He's the picture of a soldier the majority of the time. Clean shaven, with short cut hair and a regimented, controlled nature. He caries himself with head held high, shoulders back and chest forwards. His build is very lean, allowing for only a minimal amount of body fat despite his weight. Isaiah's Aegis armour is dark, a mixture of black and grey with a few stylised red insignia's painted on. His helmet is very open, with an extremely large visor. This visor can create digital patterns and is regularly stylised as a skull for intimidation purposes. At times he has been known to create a digital smiley face or frowning face on his helmet.

Personality & History

Personality: Bold | Hot-Headed | Moral | Determined | Confident | Honest | Trustworthy | Reckless | Selfless | Caring | Aggressive

Isaiah is bold almost to a fault. He makes decisions fast, sticks to them and focuses on following through on his ideas. This lets him function well as a confident and strong leader, but can lead to errors. Those who like him often see him as confident and decisive, those who don't tend to believe him to be reckless and dangerous. Ultimately he makes these decisions based on a strong sense of justice, always intending to do what he believes is the right thing. He cares a great deal more for others than himself, and is a naturally selfless person who would prefer to see those close to him excel than to gain power himself. If pushed or challenged Isaiah doesn't back down, and he can be aggressive if he's called out and feels he's in the right.

Isaiah does not crave power and he only leads due to his own self-belief that he can perform the job well. If he felt he was slipping as a leader he would be willing to surrender the role. It's usually this topic that he differs from his AI on. Zen truly does want to lead, and Isaiah sometimes finds himself raining in some of Zen's more tyrannical tendencies. Isaiah believes he is an exceptional soldier. Though he always follows his own morality, it is a personal one and he is not above killing or severely harming enemy combatants in the course of the mission so long as it is honourable. He dislikes harming civilians or anyone who is either unarmed or fleeing.  Isaiah severely dislikes corruption and heartless corporations, and he is a little distrustful towards the Eidolon program itself. He hates bullies and those who abuse power over others.

History: Isaiah grew up in the vast city 'New L.A.' on the West Coast of what was the United States of America. Now core to the structure of the Conclave the continent of North America was littered with these giant population centres. He was born into the downtrodden portion of society. His parents both working some of the remaining manual jobs, being practical people but not remotely well paid for their hard work. He was raised to try and value being resilient, determined and focused on doing what you had to. Isaiah was only young when he lost both his parents to an industrial accident. Information was scarce and he found himself in the foster system, developing a temper and an issue with the unfeeling bureaucracy around him.

As he grew older, becoming a physically fit and very capable person. Quietly, through it all, Isaiah tried to get to the bottom of the deaths of his parents and held a distrust for the company they had worked for. To this day he remains angered by the memories, and convinced their deaths were preventable. Despite the suggestion of some of those around him who felt they had a right to lash out at a government who had pushed them down Isaiah was not willing to turn to a life of crime. He personally felt his parents would not have been proud of that, and he wanted to do something they might respect. Ultimately it was during a paramilitary conflict that Isaiah realised he had the required physicality and discipline to join the military in order to protect the average man and woman on the street from those who might try to harm them.

Seeing that as a career his parents would have approved of he decided to join the Conclave military. His ability to stay calm, make swift decisions and follow through on orders made Isaiah become swiftly promoted. He lead a breach & clear team in several high profile raids, racking up an extremely impressive track record that lead to his being noticed by the Eidolon Program. Having little else in his personal life Isaiah thought the program could provide a sense of purpose, duty and let him do the right thing on a wider scale.

He acclimatised to the brutal training regimes relatively well, and his past experience leading squads coupled with good testing scores lead to Isaiah being given the role of Delta-XVII squad leader. He pushed himself continually throughout training, having firm faith it was all for the right cause. His cybernetic enhancements went well, bonding efficiently to his already fit and strong body. Meeting Zen Prime went very well for Isaiah. Zen's decisiveness and strong sense of morals appealed to Isaiah, and Isaiah's willingness to lead and to do anything necessary for the right cause appealed to Zen. In the three months of squad training Isaiah has tried to be a strong, dependable leader who cares about his squad mates, is willing to listen to criticism and push away any idea he is power hungry or self important.

A.I.

Name: Zen-Prime
Gender: Male
Mother/Father: Zeus
Personality: Honourable | Idealistic | Just | Leader | Commanding | Demanding | Wrathful | Positive | Encouraging | Strict

Zen is almost purpose built to lead. He has a strong sense of honour, a naturally commanding presence and the kind of idealistic nature that lets him see great things for both himself and others. Because he believes firmly in those around him Zen pushes them hard, demanding that they excel in their duties. This can be seen as positive, warm encouragement or strict hard line demands depending on perspective. He deals poorly with disobedience and unreliability, and can swiftly turn to being wrathful and angry if he feels others are poor soldiers. Despite sometimes being a bit too firm about things Zen ultimately wants to be a friend to his squad mates and their AI's, and he likes to remind them that he pushes them because he believes they can and will achieve anything he pushes them towards. Zen likes Isaiah a great deal, though sometimes he feels Isaiah restrains his squad mates for emotional rest when Zen could push them more he does believe Isaiah usually has a valid point. He sees Isaiah's moments of rashness as a flaw, but knows they are directly tied to his bold leadership style which Zen approves of.

Aegis Armour Unique Feature

'Supernova' Flashbang: Isaiah's Aegis Armour is equipped with several 'Flashpoints'. One on each shoulder, one on each wrist and one one each knee. These points are capable of being superheated, glowing white hot and emitting a vast amount of heat and light. This is accompanied by an ear-splitting sound that can disorientate anyone within around thirty meters. Isaiah's own armour is designed to keep him safe from this heat and light. It is very good for breaching and clearing, and running point on operations. As a particularly brutal weapon Isaiah can use these flashpoints to strike someone in close range, causing severe burn wounds. He mostly uses it in a manner similar to a flashbang grenade, but one he is immune to and one that is mobile with him.

Expert Skills & Favoured Weapons

Expert Skills:

  • Squad Leadership: Isaiah is the leader of Squad Delta XVII. Prior to that role he was a field commander in the conclave military. He is decisive and strong willed, whilst also being empathetic and understanding the emotional side of his squad mates. He is able to plan military operations and monitor the position and actions of his squad mates whilst remaining calm and delivering orders, or adapting plans to a changing battlefield.
  • Point Man: Isaiah tends to lead from the front. He's extremely confident and notably fearless. He tends to head up teams focusing on distraction or combat whilst letting stealth or ranged battles be fought by others. Isaiah is an expert on breach and clear strategies and frontal assaults.
  • CQB: Though he is a skilled marksman Isaiah favours combat when it's up close and personal. He is terrifyingly efficient with his shotgun, and extremely skilled duelist with his melee weapon and a talented martial artist who can fight well even entirely unarmed.
  • Paratrooper: Specialising in high altitude - low opening (HALO) drops, Isaiah's preferred entry is via parachute. He prefers to get as directly close to the target as possible as fast as possible, sacrificing stealth and finesse for efficiency.
Favoured Weapons:

  • Z-X482 Minigun: A highly powerful minigun, this is Isaiah's preferred weapon for medium to long range combat. Able to be fired at a semi-automatic rate it can be surprisingly accurate, with the primary downside being the weapon's physical bulk. During loud missions it can be loaded with incendiary or explosive rounds and cause extreme devastation on a large scale.
  • Vanguard-VIII Shotgun: A triple-barrelled this shotgun is a highly powerful CQB weapon. It can breach and clear extremely easily, and using armour piercing rounds whilst firing all three barrels at once can easily penetrate armoured doors, walls and heavy duty combat armour. It can even do a good deal of damage to vehicles.
  • Heavy Heatcleaver: Though Isaiah does carry combat knives he prefers to fight with his heatcleaver. A very heavy, brutal bladed weapon it's edge can be superheated to glow red-hot. When fully heated the cleaver can melt it's way through most metals. Like most of Isaiah's preferred weapons he forgoes it when stealth is necessary.

F.A.Q

Can I play a character who uses a Hades AI? The Hades AI's were only used for the Alpha, Beta and Gamma runs, not Delta. All PC's are Delta Eidolons. So, in summary, unfortunately not.

Hey! Sweet. Just looking for overall concepts for now but let me know what you're thinking.

Sorry! I'll try to make something worse next time.

Sounds like something interesting to look into. I'll think up something.
If there is such a phenomenon as absolute evil, it consists in treating another human being as a thing.

Timeless

>-> You already know I'm interested. Faceclaim would be Ruby Rose and I'm leaning for my character to have the Athena AI.

Hope to get a CS up soon.

I PM'd sun the idea, but since it's just basic ideas for now throwing mine out there. A winged, less armored sort of one, aerial recon type with Aphrodite.

Juggtacular

I'm thinking about an Infiltrator/Stealth/Assassin type with an Artemis AI.

That'd definitely work. I believe Timeless was thinking of a stealth/invisible type but with a sniper lean. I don't mind two characters on the quieter side if they have their differences.

I'm definitely interested here. The idea seems really awesome and creative!
My initial idea is a field-medic-esque solider character with an Aphrodite A.I. I know that our characters will have advanced healing due to cybernetics and such, and will likely deal with pain extremely well, but I was thinking that she would be good for more dire situations/injuries, as well as possibly having some sort of adrenaline dart weapon, to help boost her allies in urgent battles. Obviously it goes without saying that she will be well trained in offensive weaponry and melee combat as well. What do you think? Would it work here? I'm always happy to hear anyone's feedback and make changes, or just switch things up entirely if it doesn't fit the world/plot c:

I would say the main thing is that, especially early on, the combat will mostly be Eidolons Vs. Human soldiers/security. It'll be pretty one sided and injuries should be minimal. But they will happen so it makes at least some sense. I would say a medic is workable but maybe I would combine it with good repair knowledge to help with fixing up things like suits and equipment, since that's the more likely thing to get damaged.

I should say just to clarify for everyone's sake in case it's at all unclear.

The Eidolons in the squad have specialities. These refer to what they are 'best' at. But that's more in relation to their own squad. Every Eidolon due to their training, cybernetics and AI is pretty much better at every bit of military combat than any human is. Most Eidolons don't have anything they are 'bad' at. Certainly not compared to humans. Anything they are less good at would mostly just be compared to other Eidolons.

That makes sense (: Alrighty! I'll have her more on the mechanical/computer side. I may rethink her A.I as well c: But yeah, definitely still interested!

The premise reminds me mildly of John Scalzi's "Old Man's War" novel, where the spaceborne Colonial Defense Force offers aging humans a new, superhuman body plus a BrainPal (an AI built into their heads), in exchange for their service on the frontlines against alien forces.

Due to the amount of interest I feel the need to just re-iterate that I'm looking for five PC's. I'm mostly going to be selecting based on the characters. If yours has heavy crossover with someone else's only one of them is likely to get in. But you should still make the character that appeals to you most because that's the one that'll probably be best from you.

Edit:

Added the following to the first post and updated to recruitment.

I'm only accepting one of any kind of AI.

Oooh, this definitely looks interesting!

It sounds like you already have a lot of interest, but I may just have to throw my hat into the ring, if that's okay.
O/O: I was going to make a barebones F-list as a rough summary, but then it logged me out and I lost my progress, so I made a VERY barebones F-list instead: Here.

Calling dibs on the sniper/artillery specialist.

We have a sniper and their concept was one of the first approved. Sorry!

And there can't be two snipers on a team?

Because if not, I'm gonna have to give this some thought because I've already got most of the character written up.

Unfortunately not in this game, no. With it being a small squad I'm trying to emphasise the differences in their personal skillsets. The character creation uniqueness segment mentions that I'm not looking for two characters with the same primary role.
