Hey folks, I'm on the prowl again for a star wars game. Have a former padawan turned engineer looking for a home, preference is clone wars or early rebellion era, though resistance era or earlier could work as well. Looking to play for this, a bit burned out on attempting to run games at this point.

I'd be interested as a player if anything comes of this.
O/O: I was going to make a barebones F-list as a rough summary, but then it logged me out and I lost my progress, so I made a VERY barebones F-list instead: Here.

Star Wars games that start are rare.  Star Wars games that last beyond a few pages are almost non-existent.

There are a lot of people who are interested.  It looks like the only way I'm going to get to RP in one is to run the ^$&&%^&%^%$# thing.....

Kinda how I feel. I have a ton of ideas, hooks to start games, I just can't keep them running.

I think anything over 4 players tends to bog down because people have lives and wait for each other to post.

I find having a way to communicate outside the forums, like Discord, helping a great deal. Let's people stay in touch and not lose interest as quickly.

I could potentially run a game. I have a few ideas but would need some more time to hammer them out into a full game. What era's are people most interested in to help me finalize ideas?

Captain Whitebread

A long time ago.

Two of the concepts I have could fit into any era.  Add one disgraced Imperial Biker Scout, a couple of Force users and a few other ideas that don't fit in any current systems as you end up with pretty much a free hand.  Are you planning on using one of the gaming systems for character creation or just going sandbox/free form?

Thunder Splash

More sandbox freeform. I have the old table top books and have had a blast playing games with them, but i find forum based rps go smoother without all the rules and stats that come with table top games. Most of my ideas are for either the old republic or the dark times. And as another question would we want to use legends continuity or current continuity?

Captain Whitebread

I'm enjoying the current trilogy but I support the EU.

I suppose it doesn't matter as much if we don't go past episode VI. Would you prefer an old republic setting or a story in the dark times?

Captain Whitebread

Most of my ideas fit into both.  Only one requires the Empire.  Of course I am only one voice.

Thunder Splash

True, but if we plan on sticking with a small group each person's voice matters a bit more. I'm leaning more towards the dark times but i could be persuaded to try an old republic story if other people's ideas or characters needed it.

Captain Whitebread

I'm good with anything, as long as we don't end up in a YT-1300

Thunder Splash

Why go with an old YT-1300 when the YT-2400 is so much sleeker and nicer looking? Those Corellians really know how to build a light freighter.

Captain Whitebread

It looks like it was designed by committee.

I prefer the YT-600 or the Deep X Explorer

Thunder Splash

The 600 looks pretty cool. And i think, if you know your star wars lore at least, the YT series are just so customizable that they make for great smuggling vessels. That's why they are featured so heavily throughout the series.

ShadowFox89

My preference is either Clone Wars, Dawn of Rebellion (before Episode 4, after Episode 3, about the time of Solo and Rogue One), or during the current era of the movies.

Alright, i’ll Probably do the dark times/rebellion era then. I’m thinking around 9BBY.

Captain Whitebread

All my concepts except the actual Jedi work for that.

The Jedi couldn’t be a survivor of order 66?

Thunder Splash

Also, thinking about the size of the group do we just want the four who have posted in this thread to be in it or would we want one more so there are 4 players and a gm? To help with brainstorming characters some of the info I have already is we will be starting on her outer rim planet of  Rishi in the capital Raider’s Cove. I’ll try to stick mostly the the new canon but will occasionally pull from legends for little things like worlds or species that haven’t been reintroduced into the canon yet (like Rishi). It is a smugglers paradise and the zabrak captain Kalor Dunn will be looking for a new crew for a big job he just picked up. Rishi is far off in the outer rim and a bustling place for low life’s, smugglers, pirates, and anyone looking to live outside of or away from the law.

Captain Whitebread

Jedi survivors are something of a cliche

They are, but they are also the only way to have a Jedi in this time period. They could have left the order before order 66 and survived that way as well if they were more of a gray Jedi.
