I followed LQ's siren song to this place and I find myself having trouble pulling away.

Of course the summons comes when I have so many other threads to write in.

Let me stew on this and I will see if I can find a student worthy to attend.

I'm thinking of maybe going very human for this.....

Is there a restriction on era?

Go for it, no restrictions on Era. Students are sent that invitation however is appropriate to their era ^^

  For normal characters, should i bring in a "player Character" who might introduce some conflict?

Also if you like. This is more a slice of life. Students and teachers make their own plots. Granted bigger plots would involve the headmasters if they affect the school as a whole. Teachers have the power to detain students that cause trouble, if it is bad enough then the student is brought before the Headmasters themselves in the Judgement Hall, while all they see are the familiars each Headmaster uses, the exceedingly tall room of it and dark shadows, with the only light source being the single spotlight on the student and teacher who brought them in, is very intimidating.

Teachers are, in lore anyway, directly hired by the Headmasters from previous students who showed interest and exemplary behaviour and promise. Rarely are they taken from elsewhere, but it does happen ^^

I’m considering a character who has no idea that magic was real and discovering it will require him to completely reevaluate everything he thought he knew.

The only way they would be accepted into the university, is if they are a character that possesses decent magical skill and shows promise greater than what they show, with an appetite to learn magics in greater level than what they possess.

If they fit that criteria, then please by all means lets see them.

Yeah, just an example being my character, although she was aware of the concepts of magic she really only came into her's fairly recently, but since she did she's been thriving on them and continuously experimenting with her powers that it's almost to the point that she was brought into the University for her own (and those around her)'s good.

Name – Alexander Laurent

Class – Combat magic, protective magic, healing.

Occupation: N/A, student for now, intends to be a monster hunter later on.

Backstory/History -  Alexander can trace the roots of his family back to France, though he only knows that his family came from there. With a family aware of the supernatural and magical world due to his father being a hunter of foul creatures and monsters that still preyed on humanity in the modern world it was no surprise that he was somewhat aware of his father’s occupation. In truth, it was a family tradition for the eldest child to take up the mantle, and his family truly traced their origins to England – the descendants of a great and powerful knight of some renown. Magic however was not a common element in the family bloodline, so it was expected that should Alex follow his family footsteps that he’d be doing so with equipment and skill rather than any sort of magical gift.

He was given a relatively normal childhood – he had friends, played with others, has his first crush and even heartbreak in his early teen years… But around the time most went to highschool is when his father properly took him under his wing as a ‘squire’, more or less. Alexander became aware of the greater world, of monsters, and the fact that it would be his duty to slay demons and beasts that saw humanity as prey – though he was also told of many supernatural beings that were allies to man, and that not all supernatural forces meant harm to humans. Traveling often, his teenage years were a little more hectic of course, and while he never helped his father directly in fighting he was quickly intimate with how to survive by himself, how to get a feel for the supernatural, and how to fight and defend himself by his father. By the time he was twenty, it was clear that he could become a great hunter just like his father.

Except it seemed that fate had a slightly different mind in store for him. He was marked for something different for his destiny and that difference came in the form of a letter. His father was initially against the idea of his child learning magic, but Alexander believed it would be a powerful tool – and a way for him to learn about the fantastical world and understand it better.  Despite his fathers protests, he made no attempt to stop his son from accepting the invitation, and leaving for studies.

Willpower: Undaunting and unafraid, Alexander is not one to succumb easily to things that influence the mind or cause one to lose self control.

Enhanced physical abilities: Stronger, tougher, and faster than the average human, it’s this trait that’s allowed his human family to keep up with some of the more dangerous monsters.


Physical Appearance – Standing at six feet and maybe an inch or two, Alexander is a tall and athletically fit young man in the prime of his life. Blonde haired and aqua eyed, he’s certainly a striking looking man and keeps himself clean shaven and relatively clean.

Clothes – Tends to wear comfortable clothing in muted colors, though he has a few formal outfits for proper occasions and prefers to be warm in the winter time.

Personality -  A good person at heart, Alexander likes to help others and wants to have a good time himself. A more soft spoken individual at first glance, he might take a little nudging to get a more forward or bold personality at times but this doesn’t stop him from being able to take charge on matters if it feels right. He’s more on the thoughtful side of things, but when he takes action he can be surprisingly bold. Very curious about ‘proper’ supernatural creatures, and would love to get to know the friendly ones.



Combat Section

Weapon(s)/Equipment -
You are allowed one each of the following:
Heirloom sword: A seemingly non magical weapon, the old blade has been in the family for as long as the family has been around. While it seems to lack magical power, perhaps it takes the right hand or mind to see what lies inside…?
Shield: Just a shield, good for deflecting blows and hitting people with.
Wooden pendant: A small pendant with a wooden charm on it, this necklace has been passed down the family again for generations, and no one knows what it’s made of. What they do know, is that it seems to provide a slight amount of magical resistance to whoever wears it.


Abilities -
Sword play: Being trained by his father and also having a natural aptitude for it, Alexander is fantastic with a sword and a skilled combatant despite his young age, almost to a skill most don't have.

Healing hands: With a touch and focusing on whoever he touches, Alexander can mend wounds and heal someone of their injuries, though severe wounds can take a taxing toll on him.

Skills -
Artist: He found time in between being a ‘squire’ to have an appreciation for art and drawing. Can draw both with a pencil and a tablet.

Mechanics: Knows how to fix a car or take care of most minor mechanical things, gotta be handy on the road, right?

Hunting: He was taught how to hunt for food and game as well, sometimes you have to survive in the wolds.

Fears/weaknesses -

He’s human: He’s not a pure supernatural, and despite being somewhat gifted he can be outclassed by certain things, especially given his youth on matters.

Hotblooded: At times, he won’t really back down if he’s challenged – especially if he’s insulted. This can work against him.



Trivia

Likes romance novels, wishes more were catered to men though.
Probably draws smut in his free time. Won’t admit it to others though.
Favorite tea is Chai, prefers it with milk and honey.
Loves Karaoke, not the best at singing though.
