As for the Libertalia, Phaia - the super carrier I'm thinking is less of a modern supercarrier as it is a mobile, floating fortress.  With the majority of the aircraft in service in naval engagements in the TCL being VTOL over fixed wing aircraft, a supercarrier wouldn't need to be as wholly dedicated to space for aircraft, as a modern supercarrier would be.  Instead a supercarrier is designated such for its ability to serve as an epicenter for a fleet - strong Matrix support, VTOL craft, small ships able to dock with it and serve as a protective vanguard, and everything necessary to perform repairs and upgrades at sea.  A super carrier is designed to never need to come into port.

Sounds like you are looking at the SHIELD Helicarrier without the Heli part and with ability to have what is known as a 'well deck' [area where small ships can be taken on board or stored]. A different flight deck maybe a micro-manufacturing that can make a lot of the parts needed. Of course even a fortress carrier needs dock side time now and again. Though I can see now that one of the Libertalia work groups would have to be able to go under water to check the hull and do repairs etc!

Are you planning then on the Libertalia being the 'main' story area? [which can be loads of fun] If so where would it be anchored or station keeping at?

If I am reading things right your Caribbean League is different then canon. It does NOT include Miami?

Dhi

I know what you mean, the sandbox sweet spot.

If we are going to have 5 or less, I don't think we should tie 3 characters so closely together in a clique.

Don't forget, technology can be augmented with magic - elementals and spirits and the like can assist with construction and repairs.

The Libertalia is going to be one of several hubs.  My goal at start is two or three well developed ones, since I want the game to have a very nomadic vibe.  Miami IS part of the CBL - the Metroplex left the CAS and joined the TCL.

That may be for the best.  Allows more development via introductions and the like.

I know Josi and I are interested.  We'll keep you updated, Ciosa.

I am looking at some extra flaws since we all do not want to have the same flaws or merits
Flaws:
Allergy: 1,2,3,4  -- I mean it could be amusing if someone is allergy to say Orcs! or Milk!
Insomina: 2,4
Combat Junkie: 2, cannot keep from starting fights. solution is always fight.
Creature of Comfort: 2, 4 -- 2 must have middle lifestyle; 4 must have a high lifestyle
Motion Sickness: 1 --

Merits:
Multilingual; 1,2,3,4,5 -- each point gives one additional language as a 'native langauage'
Guts: 3 -- Plus to resist fear and intimidation
To pretty to hit; 2
Hawk Eye: 1  better then 20/20 vision, keen natural vision
Lighting Reflexes: 6-- acts like 1 level of heightened reflexes. NOT cumulative with any other form of reflex enhancement. Tech, chemical, magical
water Sprite; 1 plus to swimming and diving also tests to hold breath and treading water!

Dhi

Multilingual for 1 point each is going to be strictly better than language fluency for 2 points each.

I don't know how you could balance it so that I wouldn't automatically take it over knowledge skill points. Those are really valuable, getting +2 can take 10 character points.

TFcommando

Limit it to just one point, perhaps... "Bilingual background."

I would be happy to give a 'Cunning Linguist' merit for two points, which gives a +1 level to language skills purchased with knowledge skills.  Spend two points, and then being fluent in a language costs one apiece.

Dhi

I would take that, I'd take any of them. Cunning Linguist is better for someone in my shoes, looking at 4 languages, but Bilingual Background might encourage everybody to be bilingual.

'Cunning Linguist'

You could have just said Linguist! Had to be naughty!!  ;)
You should go stand in the corner!

Oh I forgot for anyone that has not seen NetFlix's 'Altered Carbon' I very much recommend it. Very Cyberpunk and sci fi decent story with lots of twists and excellent acting. At least I thought so!

I watched all the episodes over 3 nights and would have binged them save for life getting in the way!

I blame Dhi's avatar.

What is street Cred based on and does our PC have any?

what can we do with felt over points?
It seems with flaws and 5 points from building I may have points left. I guess She can take less flaws.

With living arrangements? Can our character be living on the libertalia?

are we still in 2075? if so what month?
it helps for background and flavor.

If our character has a job can it be working on the Libertalia? I would guess it took a lot of damage in the fight and is still being worked over?
"yeap you job is to hang by these ropes over the deck and use this pocket welder to put this metla over that hole and those over there.... and you there get in the water and check the hull under the water line"

I caught some of Altered Carbon. The Stack concept is really similar to Cubes in Infinity RPG, which I'm about to run for some friends. So I wanted to see what they did with it.

Did you see Bright? It is 99% Shadowrun.

I liked Bright. There has been a lot of dislike toward it for all sorts of reasons. I thought the plot was bit slim maybe but it was still fun. I still giggle at the swat the fairy scene at the start...pests!!

I really wish they had made a series out of that instead of just a two-hour movie.

Running Infinity? Cool.  I don’t have the interest among friends to run it.  I love the setting though. I enjoyed Altered Carbon.  Eclipse Phase RPG borrowed a lot from it.  I am currently running Waterdeep Dragon Heist for my group. They are really enjoying it.

I didn’t mind Bright, plot holes and all, though I agree a series would have been better.

I wish I didn’t suck at the new system. I’d love to do something exotic and useful but I’m too rusty
