I got my character mostly done, I just need like, history paragraphs and a list of how she does or doesn't like to get freaky. These are always the last things.

I can do better than that.

The new character creation rules.  I've worked through everything up to advancement/equipment.  I'll probably rework the adept/magician stuff a little bit, as well as the equipment section, but mostly it will probably be to move them to their own dedicated wiki pages.

Don't post character sheets here, please!

I'll start making Corsair Mage Archaeologist.  Anyone want to be on her crew?  Could probably use a sailing master.  And that's presuming I can afford a decent boat or plane.  Though one thing that was possible was pooling money between characters to buy a big vehicle.  Is that in effect here?

On a general note, it looks like you're using SR4/20A gear and prices?  If there's a particular bit if gear from there I'd like, should I bring it up?  Hmm, the prices for the vehicles don't all match up with 4 OR 5, so much for that theory!  I'll have to wait until there's more gear up to make a call on what sort of vehicle and pirating setup I can go with.  Having a houseboat or cabin cruiser to live on could be fun as well.

Will the used vehicle rules apply to boats and aircraft?

Going back to the 1e/2e days, perhaps a Merit that gives you access to a gang or companions?  The amount and quality could scale up with the level of the merit... that'd be handy for a pirate!

Ciaso in the spirit of Shadowrun one of the classic aspects of the game!

Merit:
4 points - Edge; You may use your edge to adjust ANY die roll your character makes by a +1. Social, CR, AR, agility, skill, soak. As long as it has a number value then edge can influence it. Once used Edge needs time to regenerate. Edge needs 24 Hours [or more] before it can be used again.

Edge will be in the game, but in a different way.  Luck is acquired as a function of karma; the more you earn, the larger your edge pool becomes, and the greater the utility of it.

... *reconsiders alternate purposes of a touch link at the last bit.*

There’s a flaw for bigger purchases.  ‘I haven’t paid that off yet.’  I don’t have rigger 5 at hand, but I can ask crash to scour for a good pirate boat.

I’d allow a specialized form of contact to serve as a crew.  Scales up in numbers but not necessarily combat prowess.  Could also work as gangs or staff for someone running a shop.

Crash

Let me know what you are looking for ship wise.  Speed? Firepower? Stealth? Size? # Passengers?

I will try to get Rigger 5 converted today at least for watercraft.

I sent Ciosa a PM about resources and Equipment that might make it easier for me to get updated lists to him.  Remember this is rules light so we are not really using vehicle and combat rules as they are in the books.  This is all just to give the GM a reasonable idea of competence and equipment to make an informed narrative decision.

Unless Ciosa changes that of course.  I am just going off the game he is basing this one off of and the mostly freeform nature of it.

A mothership big enough to hold, say, a dozen pirates and a half-dozen jet skis and otherwise look inconspicuous.  A direct attack craft wouldn't work in the Shadowrun era, where there are a lot of bigger fish around, and shoulder-fired anti-vehicular missiles too.

Let me hear back from Ciosa about my idea and I will get back to you.

Your best bet seems to be either the Evo Waterking or the Blohm and Voss Classic.

If you want more inconspicuous and affordable you want the Waterking.  The classic is a luxury yacht that is prohibitively expensive and sticks out.

Neither are very fast but they are the ones that could fit your space needs.  The Waterking is 18 meters and the Classic is a ridiculous 111 meters.  The Waterking may not be able to carry all of the jet skis though.

Side Note:

I am thinking this is what my character's Trimaran looks asthetically like only it has a mast and sail as well as the engines and the plates leading to the pontoons are open decks not enclosed.  Pontoons have no living areas either.

@Ciaso
Can ya give a brief description on what the attributes should do for rp?
How does Intuitive work? as an example
I did not see a perception skill. Yet there is an enhanced perception adept ability. How does perception work and how would that ability act?

Can I suggest a slight change. Either call improved Reflexes, Improved quickness, or change quick to reflex? I think It can confuse people used to the full SR. I know I had to think about quick and improved reflex and if they improved quick.

SURGE power. Can it be low light vision for a human? or something more telling?

No, in general I'm going to be going for simplicity over complexity.  I don't intend on running complex chase scenes or anything similar - the rules in 5e are designed practically with miniatures and a board in mind.  That doesn't translate well to playing by text.

I can add some longer descriptions for all of the attributes.  Quickness and reflexes are differentiated because quickness determines order of actions, but reflexes provides additional actions.  I.e, if you drop five points into Improved Reflexes as an adept, you're taking four actions per turn to someone with no reflexes one.  (Speed kills.  ;)

Yes, SURGE can manifest as low light vision.  It's usually not something as simple as that - SURGE produced a wide gamut of unpredictable changes that seemed unique to the individual and rarely repeated.  Link to the entry on the Shadowrun wiki:  SURGE

Crash is working hard on a new and improved equipment list.  However, prices have fluctuated fairly heavily from version to version, and our homebrew version of the system is a little skewed, financially, compared to the most recent values of goods.  Once the equipment list is done, I'm going to be adjusting the amount of money players have.  This will, in general, only skew UPWARD.  You will have more money than you have now, but most prices will be changing, and I'll make an assessment of how much money players have on the basis of those final prices.

The major purchases I'm hoping to be able to cover with A rank funds, currently 350k, are

A cutting edge cyberdeck (200k)
Full matrix suite (50k)
DocWagon Gold/Plat (25k-50k)
High lifestyle (10k-30k)
Bone lacing (15k-40k)

And some splash left over for cranialware, a gun, and a go-go bike.

I'm so looking forward to getting to the spending part of my creation.  -giggles.-  I want that Mirage.

-dies laughing.-  That makes me think of the scene from Bitch Better Have My Money (Morgan's theme song) where they're on the boat.

Prices are pretty different since I am going off of 5th Edition, but there will likely be an increase in each resource level so it should be good.  The top level decks may be out of reach of a starting character but you can still get a bad ass one.

A good cyberdeck is fine, I wouldn't expect the best in the world. Why change everything, though?

The original costs were all over the board on the list.  It made adding additional equipment extremely difficult.  It just seemed easier to adjust up to 5th Edition so it is easy to add stuff.  At the same time I simplified some things like weapons.

All light pistols have the same cost and dmg.  You can just pick the name of the pistol you like most now.  That sort of thing.

Most Magical equipment and vehicles were non existent in the old rules.

Okay gotta ask this!

Boca [street name] is using a bow, a lot, okay always on a mission or in the field. She leaves arrows behind or people that have been shot by arrows so I was going to give her
Calling Card -arrows, as a flaw. It kind of fits.

Also can ya take two phobias [mild]?

Dhi

I have Inéz Lafuente, "Izzie Money" done then, just waiting for the revised costs and finding a good layout for images.

Nice!

I have everything on the current equipment list converted except vehicles.  Once that is done I will send it to Ciosa for his approval, adjustment or rejection.
