Falleen won't give you Charm as a career skill though.

Advisor gives you Streetwise, Deception, Perception, Charm, Negotiation, Coercion and Vigilance which is an initiative stat to avoid being surprised.  Just sort of pointing out the social combat skill stack that Advisor hands over to you.

Also Shadow has quite a few nice talents for a Face character, especially one wanting to remain out of reach.

Cataclysmic Archangel

*confused, goes back to book*  OOOOH.  Just a rank in it.  Not making it career.  Blech.

So Advisor might be the best route for me, instead of Abriter.  the only thing I really lose out on is Underworld.  And that way I can keep it cheap and only use one career.

So just pony up the 10 or so points to get a rank in Underworld, and you're good. Career skills ain't the only stuff you're stuck to, it's just cheaper to level career skills.

Really depends on where you want to eventually go with your character.  Arbiter will give you some very nice social combat tools along with giving you Lightsaber as a skill (though it'll still work off your Brawn).  Now if you want to go Lightsaber as your thing then look at Makashi duelist.

Angie

Also keep in mind: You don't need points in every skill. You can get away with just having a gigantic Charm. The big drawback is you don't get any proficiency dice if you're untrained, but you can use your base attributes pretty effectively.

Honestly, this is where it all boils down to.  The character was created with the idea in mind that maybe we weren't all going force users at all, and has been slowly been adapted from the 'must be something force sensitive'.  I totally can see her ignoring combat, thinking it's barbaric and beneath her.  never having touched a lightsaber before.

if I'm going to go lightsaber, Im going to GO LIGHTSABER and start something completely different and stabby.

So here is something and the GM has pointed it out a bit. Career Skills give you basically a 5 XP discount on each skill rank...that is really it. (Rank 1 through 5 equals 75 XP eventually for Career Skills, Rank 1 through 5 equals 100 XP eventually for non Career Skills. So if there is a tree outside your Career you wanna pick up and it has two or more skills you plan on getting, you save yourself XP long term.)

I think we could really use a small bit of information as to the Setting and overall tone of the campaign you plan on running Angie. I mean I know that we are doing The Old Republic, but are we going to be unknown force entities, People who know they have power but don't understand it, are we gonna be caught up in the Great War...those kinds of things to help narrow down what would be fun yet useful to play for the campaign.

Captain Whitebread

Okay, so I'm in with a Darian (grey skin) Twi'lek Sentinel Racer

Depending on how things sort out, he's either currently a slave or has been recently freed.

There's also all the talents that your new Career suddenly provides access to, which is a good thing.

As for setting, I'm basically going to go with this: The Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War (as it is known) has rocked the galaxy, crippling both Jedi and Sith. The resources dedicated to both wars have prevented the Jedi and the Sith from recruiting new members, meaning that the party will be mostly Force-sensitive individuals who have no fragging clue what is going on. Easier then you might think, most of the powers you can get at the start are more like passive buffs that just make you think you're "that good". Anyway, in terms of group resource, you will have access to both a ship and eventually, after a few crazy adventures, a mentor. Probably more in the line of Jolee Bindo, though not likely Jolee himself-just a guy who is more neutral over all then fully dedicated to dogma.

Also, I don't think the sub-species of Twi'lek give any variant bonuses, unless they do somewhere and I haven't seen it, but it's nice to see a Twi'lek male for a change.

KirbysFolly

Hmm. I'm poking up a Shistaven healer, but now I'm waffling a little.

Angie, would you allow a species from the Unofficial Species Menagerie? Specifically, either an Arkanian Offshoot or Arkanian?

Character Background
Tav is young, and was only partway through an accelerated medical course when the Jedi Civil War came to an abrupt end. With the official end of the war, the program lost its push, and he barely managed to finish his studies before the whole thing was shut down.

With no position lined up for him, he ended up working as a lowly physician in a mining settlement, treating mostly Offshoots. The horrors inflicted upon the slaves wore on him, and when one of them suddenly arrived at his quarters at night, badly injured, he treated the man without question. When they came to him for a safe place to meet, he agreed to let them use his quarters.

When their firebombs went off in the security center, though, he fled. After a short but frantic rush away from Arkania, he met up with a strange old man with a cybernetic arm, who claimed to be another doctor. The two traveled together for two years, with "Doctor Tiaalamu" slowly introducing the Arkanian into the ways of the Force. Tav has shown some talent in using it to heal, but not with much else. He also taught Tav some simple lightsaber techniques using training swords made for the task, under the guise of teaching him how to handle himself against Sith hunters.

Unfortunately the same Sith hunters he warned Tav about caught up to the pair. Unaware of Tav's abilities, and believing that the old former-Jedi was merely using him to stay on the move, the assassins did not prioritize killing Tav as well. Ambushed while returning to the dwelling they were working out of, the old man was killed. Warned by their patients, Tav managed to escape, and has been planet-hopping since then.

Hate to double post but would my character having had an instructor be ok?  Was starting to draw up background and such for a Guardian teacher since she learned a lightsaber form.

Captain Whitebread

The Twi'lek variant doesn't refer to anything other than their skin colour.

I'm currently working with Pumpkin Seeds to try and get the details right on my character before I post.

Want him to be a random Jedi, or the Mentor that the team will eventually acquire? Because if you want him to be the Mentor...you will be giving me the best plot hook ever, and could easily provide the team with XP boosts if you push towards finding him again...

If you want to use him as the mentor then by all means.

I also wanted to point out to people, in case they didn't notice, but this is the only time you can directly increase your characteristics.  After character creation it's a serious pain in the ass.

Cataclysmic Archangel

It's super expensive, but I considered it.  I may have gone a little overboard with the talents, I'm not really sure what's 'normal' for character creation... but I think I like how she turned out?  At least the skeleton, I need to work on fleshing her out now.

I just like to mention it because I've seen a few surprised about that afterward.

Also in Force and Destiny it's 3 skills in Career and 2 in Specialization.

I know I said him but I saw a picture of Michelle Yeoh with a lightsaber and just fell in love.

You only get 3 career skill ranks out of F&D?

Well, I know where that last 5 points is going to go, then.

I need to find a good picture for my character.  I have no photoshop skills to make my faceclaim green, however. :p
