It often varies depending on how appropriate the situation is. I usually post between 300-500 words. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but that is just me and I am not the moderator for the game.

In general the expectation is at least 3 paragraphs.

Yes it is still open.  In fact the main game hasn’t started yet so you want even be late to the game.
