Air's Fine Once You Grow Gills

Introduction-

Believe it or not this town was once a nice place to live. Business was good for a while. So good the town had a fancy opera house, swell library and everything that a cultured
gent could ask for. It had the air of a mythical island. In fact, Vanity Fair called it the new Atlantis. Turns out that was like calling the Titanic unsinkable.

No one is sure exactly what happened. One morning started out like any other, people going about their lives and then suddenly a green cloud descended and all hell broke loose. Some people say literally. The new Atlantis was no more, though some people say they still see it from their safe shoreline, still wrapped in that thick green fog with wicked looking lightening whipping it like a fury. It wasn't much better for those poor souls left. Many of them died in the initial...whatever it was. More soon afterwards from an unknown plague. Those that survived found themselves hunted by new residents: vampires, werewolves, and others no one can quite pin down.

Now everyday is a battle between light and the dark, at least that’s what they’d have you believe. Somewhere along the way everyone’s morals became as grey as the sky. A deal here, a favor there. The humans who have managed to cling on, like moss to a cliff, find themselves living a life familiar and strange.

How will your character survive?

Disclaimer –

This might be some tricky territory, as it's only semi my idea but since none of this is for money I say let’s have fun. Before I rped here I was over in SL, where one of the lands I played in was Toxian City. I've been itching to slip back into the character I created over there. Full disclaimer the origin of Toxic City is not my idea, nor are many of the characters I have outlined here. However, I have changed their names and several key aspects of their character in order to streamline a story. In fact, with a few exceptions I toned down the key players so that if someone is interested they can put own spin on them. The end result is a skewed reflection, with the only bits left whole being what I created in the game. I assume whomever takes them on will endow them with their own creative talents.

Scenario –

This is a post apocalyptic (kinda) supernatural sandbox game. I want you to decide who you and how you live in this port of urban decadence and decay. There will be power struggles, there will be star crossed lovers and there will be dangers around every turn.

That being said, not everything should be epic and melodramatic.

The main thing is how does your character live in this city? Who are their friends? How do they eat? What do they eat? Are they trying to survive? Are they thriving? How do they pay their rent?

If you have a random silly rp you’ve been wanting to do with a supernatural bent, for example a sorcerer’s apprentice accidentally enchants all the beer at the bar, this is the place to do. If you have a great story about how your character survives all challenges and survives all the odds, for example a young bitten werewolf hunts down his maker to the Isle of Grace and is hell bent on killing him so he may return to humanity, this is also the place to do it.

One final note, this game is in the Extreme section. That is not a challenge. That being said, there will be things like vampire torture scenes and Werewolf massacres. Better safe than sorry.

Rules –

Not too many I promise and most of these are just common curtesy.
1. No Drama. This is a game.
2.Make sure you list your warnings in your header.
3.Talk to your partners or in the OOC thread about big plot twists. Death, maiming, non-con elements, or spells gone awry. It’s polite and gives everyone a heads up to react to it.
4.Finally, should you decide to leave, we will miss you, do let me know. Especially if you plan on not returning. We will use your death as a plot device.
5.Stay true to plot.

Events –

Though this is a sandbox game there will be certain developments from above. The biggest one being the sorcerer that will enter in the middle of the game and take over the city. Until then there are certain calendar days I am hoping will be observed.

- The full moon. As the story states the full moon is big deal on the Isle of Grace. The werewolves run amok. The Vampires have their monthly meetings. Everyone else drinks themselves into a stupor. This event is also an opportunity. People meet who normally wouldn’t, fights start, business deals are struck.

The Vampires Ball. Every Christmas, like great lords of old, the Vampire clan hold a Christmas feast.

Halloween. Tis the season where the magic doers shine and their antics are gossiped about for the rest of the year.

Summer Solstice Masque. The Nekos host a great party in Sanctuary Square every year just as the full heat of summer descends.

As the game goes along, feel free to add your own.

Groups

There are five races you can belong to –

Vampires

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Screen Name
Character Name: What should we call you?
Age: Just how old are you?
Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?
Powers: What can you do? I would ask that everyone keep these within a limited scope. Given the dynamic of this group, we can only assume that if they had the power to take over the world, they would have by now.
Race: I am ok with their being different kinds of vampires, as there certainly are both in historical records and folklore. I am going to say the default vampire for this game is of the whedonverse variety. Classic Dracula type powers and weakness, born from demons and go wrinkly when they want to eat. However, I am not opposed to having different sorts, with the exception of those that sparkle.
Weaknesses:  Are you allergic to iron? Have an aversion to crosses? Do you duck when someone comes at you with a magic sword? Does your character have any psychology triggers or personal traumas they’re trying to overcome?
Motivation: Why did your character come to the Isle of Grace? Did it hear human free for all? Want a fresh start? Just following the group?
Personality: What’s your deal? Are you the crazy one? The strong silent type? Maybe you’re the one voice of sanity in an insane mob.
History: Just how did a pretty thing like you end up in a place like this?
Relationships: Does your character know anyone yet: long lost love, annoying relative, victim in your character’s quest for revenge?

Things to keep in mind if you want to play a vampire
You can belong to the court or be a lone vampire
You can choose what kind of vampire you want to be
No sparkles
Figure out where you’re getting your food from

Werewolves

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Your Name Here
Character Name: What should we call your creation?
Age: How old are you?
Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?
Powers: What can you do? Do you have more than one form? Can you merge with other shifters? Are you fangs laced with poison?
Race: Though they are called the Werewolf clan, yc can be anyform of shapeshifter. Kitsune, Half Caste, O Kami, Beserker, or Gar wolf just to name a few. Also it's up to you what yc looks like when they shift. Do they look like an ordinary wolf, a body builder with hair and fangs or just like they need a shave?
Weaknesses:  Depending on what kind of shifter you chose I would be obliged if you stuck with their weaknesses, be it verbal confusion or silver bullets.
Motivation: Does yc just want to be left alone? Do they think they're the next stage of evolution? Or do they just want to use their muscle to live the good life?
Personality: Just who are they?
History: Just how did you end up here?
Relationships: What’s your role in group? Are you an enforcer? A spirit of nature? A biker with a really bad side?

Things to keep in mind if you want to play a werewolf
What kind are you?
YC will be in the Werewolf clan, but they don’t have to like it. Even if yc considers itself a lone wolf, the alpha will claim that you are one of theirs.
What is their relationship towards humans?
How about vampires?
What do they look like in their canine shape?

Nekos

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
QuoteWriter Name: Your Name Here
Character Name: What should we call your creation?
Age: How old are you?
Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?
Powers: Are you a kitty with a crafty mind? Maybe you have claws of steel?
Race: Sure you’re a cat, but what kind?
Weaknesses:  Do you indulge in the nip too often, maybe you go weak at the knees for chiffon lace?
Motivation: Do you want to knock over trash cans and prowl docks, or do you long for long naps in the sun on satin pillows?
Personality: Are you a pretty kitty? Maybe you’re a streetwise feline who takes out any rats they see?
History: Just how did you end up here?
Relationships: What’s your role in group? Which group do you belong to? Do you have any friends outside of your clowder?

There are two groups of Nekos living on the Isle of Grace: The Tea Shoppe and the Carpet Riders. Both groups are smugglers and have made bargains with stronger groups to protect them If yc needs anything ‘special’: magical ingridients, fresh food, new clothes, drugs ect.., they will have to make a deal with a Neko trader.

Things to keep in mind if you play a Neko
Which group do you belong to?
What is your role in the group?
How do you feel about the human trafficking?
How do you feel about your patrons?

Magic Doers (demons, fairies, witches, alchemists, warlocks…ect.)

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
QuoteWriter Name: Your Name Here
Character Name: What should we call your creation?
Age: How old are you?
Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?
Powers: What can you do?
Race: Pick anything that can do magic: Fairies, demons, witches, alchemists, ect, ect…
Weaknesses:  What does yc fear, other than their crumbling mind?
Motivation: What are you trying to gain? Are you looking to prey on the weak? Seeking power that the Island offers? Or just a chance to live out in the open.
Personality: It’s no secret that the magic doers are losing their minds. Most think this is because of the surge of power all of them feel on the island. Many hope that it’s temporary. An adjustment to their heightened skills.  How far along is yc? Do they still have their wits? Did they ever? What were they like before the power started taking its toll?
History: Just how did you end up here?
Relationships: What’s your role in group? What about those outside of it?

Things to keep in mind if you play a magic doer
YC is starting to lose their grip on reality
YC can be many different races and have many different motivations
Decide what you want yc to be able to do about the shop, the library, the hollow or if you're an independent contractor.

Humans

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
QuoteWriter Name: Your Name Here
Character Name: What should we call your creation?
Age: How old are you?
Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?
Powers:Just because you’re a mortal doesn’t mean you’re mere. Were you a wheeler and dealer before the event and have used your skills of charm and persuasion to carve out a new life for yourself? Are you
Race: Human.
Weaknesses:  Other than being mortal. Are you suffering from PTSD from the event? Did you get cursed or bit by one of your new supernatural neighbors? Are your morals starting to be called into question?
Motivation: Are you just looking to survive? Are you looking for a place in this new world? Are you looking to swap your humanity for a pair of fangs or claws?
Personality: Just who are you?
History: Just how did you end up here? Were you here before the incident? Were you one of the lucky few smuggled in for the monthly feeding to survive? Are you a runaway blood doll?
Relationships: Did you find sanctuary in the library? Maybe you wait tables at the Hollow? Perhaps you took up arms with the Sons of the Gunn.

Things to keep in mind if you play a human
What group do you belong to?
How do you survive?
Do you want to stay a human?

There are 8 cliques you can belong to –

The Vampire Court

Posh and exclusive the Vampire Court is the closest thing that the Isle of Grace has to bankers. They put up the funds to the Tea Shoppe and Carpet Riders to operate their smuggling rings, loans for new business, and most importantly they exchange currency.

After the city survived the ‘event’, the ravages of their new supernatural citizens and the demons of human nature, it was nearly destroyed by an economic collapse. Never mind that the ATMs no longer doled out money, said dollars weren’t worth the paper they printed on and many of the supernaturals would just look confused if you tried to buy your life with greenbacks.  Gold and jewelry sometimes worked, as did favors and other items for barter, but not always and no consistently. Then there were Nekos who supplied pretty much everything but they too did not have a consistent rate for purchases.

That was when the Vampire Court stepped and provided coins that could be divided like old pieces of eight and set the rate of exchange. As soon as the Nekos agreed to use the new system, so did the rest of the remaining population. The only store anymore that accepts anything other than the vampire coins is The Hollow, and that’s only because Sassy keeps a running tally in her head of what is worth what.

The Vampire Court keeps their numbers down, fewer mouths to feed and fewer ingrates clamoring for power. The only way to join is by invitation, an extensive interview process and the head of a wolf.

Below are some suggested characters. Feel to take them if they are not already claimed and play around with them as you will. Keep in mind they are suggestions, if you want to create your own vampire character and submit it, please do in this thread using this info sheet.

Tatenda

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Tatenda, Vampire Queen.

Age: Despite her love for looking like she’s just stepped off the set of Demille film, Tatenda is only 280 years old.

Sexuality: Anything surprising. Somewhere along the way ordinary and extraordinary sex lost its appeal. She only likes the most exquisite of gems of mortal flesh that her followers can offer.

Powers: Other than the normal skills a vampire of her age acquires, Tatenda has a gift for manipulation and can literally make people think thoughts that are not their own.

Race: Standard vampire

Weaknesses:  Standard vampire.

Motivation: Power and Control.

Personality: Tatenda above all is a leader and a stateswoman. She wants her court to flourish and rise above the barbarity of others of their kind.

History: Power vacuum. Tatenda saw the Isle of Grace for what it was, the perfect place to rule absolutely.

Relationships: Members of her court, all of whom she is in turn fond of and suspicious of their motives. She detests the Werewolves as beasts, finds the Nekos adorable and views Alucards as a necessary evil.

Lady Aria and Lord Rathbone

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Lord Rathbone and Lady Aria

Age: Rathbone is older than Aria, having been a Roundhead in the English Civil Wars that was turned by a flamboyant and corrupt Cavalier to be his lover. Aria he found, a younger daughter of American nouveau riche, trying to net a Churchill. Instead he turned her and declared this pretty uncouth Yankee his immortal bride.

Sexuality: Their desire mostly is directed at each other. However, Rathbone is known to drink from pretty blood dolls, both male and female and they have welcomed another into their bed on more than one occasion. It is also rumored that both have Sassy on retainer, though not for the obvious reasons.

Powers: It took him years but Rathbone developed a skill for smelling lies, while his pretty witty wife can glamour even the most resistant mind.

Race: Standard vampire

Weaknesses:  Standard vampire.

Motivation: Comfort. They are loyal to Tetenda because she keeps them in the style they’re accustomed to. In return Rathbone is the courts accountant and Aria is the one who keeps up the veneer of grace and style.

Personality: Despite their immortality, both Rathbone and Aria are forever the social climbers, looking for nothing more than the next expensive set of clothing or exotic drink.

History: Rathbone started out as a pure man of principle only to seduced and molded into a creature of decadence. By the time his sire died he found himself at an utter loss, slowly circling the train of opulence and decay. Until he met her. She is the moon in his sin filled sky. Aria was the forgotten daughter of a steel magnet, until she bloomed into a creature of utter loveliness. Still a life filled with beautiful dresses and magnificent balls seemed unattainable as one suitor after another turned out to either be social climbers themselves or turning her down for more dowry laden maidens. Until she met him. The man who would fawn of over, shower her with expensive things and indulge her every whim, forever. They teamed up with Tetenda in the 1930’s, when they were at their lowest. Having lost all their money in the stock market and angered the local vampire lord. They have followed her ever since: to Hollywood, to Hawaii, back to London and finally to the Isle of Grace.

Relationships: Utterly in love and obsessed with each other. Disdainful of everyone who isn’t amusing or diverting.

Gabriel

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Gabriel

Age: How old do I look?

Sexuality: Anything screaming.

Powers: Can suss out and make anyone’s nightmares come true.

Race: Standard vampire

Weaknesses:  Standard vampire.

Motivation: Power and the need to inflict his will on others. Gabriel thinks that he should be in charge, that vampires should rule the other races like the chattel they are.

Personality: Psychotic and sadistic, at the same time smart and resourceful. There’s a reason despite his open hostility that Gabriel is kept around and indulged. He’s useful and perhaps not quite as dangerous as he presents himself.

History: Why don’t you lie on his table and ask him while he sharpens his tools?

Relationships: Tolerant of the others in the vampire court, but dismissive of loner vampires. HATES Alucard for some unknown reason and is strangely fond/protective of Sassy. After their first few encounters that left her a bloody mess, that even with her healing factor took her a week to recover, he started to develop strings of feelings for the blonde disaster. He’s even been known to follow her around when she works, when he doesn’t have anything better to do, to make sure no one else breaks his toy.

The Werewolf Clan

The Werewolves are best known for their monthly massacres. Though they’re not much more charming when trapped in their human cage, their muscle and grit comes in handy with the keeping the peace. Cops they aren’t, they don’t care if someone stole your purse but their claw to the moon the streets will be clear of violence, other than theirs of course.

Unlike the vampires, the werewolves take in all of their kind whether they like it or not. Like the vampires, the werewolves are always jostling for power within the pack and only the strong or the invisible survive.

Mara

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Mara

Age: 24

Sexuality: Bi-sexual. Likes strong alpha males or sweet feminine females.

Powers: Mara is young and vicious. While she’s not particularly strong or skilled yet, she makes up for it with a certain violent exuberance.

Race: Standard Hollywood werewolf.

Weaknesses:  Silver bullets and fire

Motivation: Mara wants to prove herself worthy of the pack, all the while enjoying the spoils her newfound strength.

Personality: Mara is vicious and reckless but loyal.

History: Mara was that girl. The one in the back of the class with the stringy hair and a dirty hoodie. The one who was pushed around or ignored. The one that was probably being abused at home but no one had any evidence or desire to do anything. Except for this one cool dude she met by the railroad tracks, who with one canine encrusted kiss gave her the power to exact every ounce of revenge she ever wanted.

Relationships: Mara loves every member of her pack. Beyond that you’re either an enemy or food. Like Gabriel she’s oddly affectionate towards Sassy, often purchasing her the night after the full moon so she can ease off her bloodlust.

The Tea Shoppe

Like a lily growing out of a dung heap the Tea Shoppe is an oasis of sophistication in an otherwise chaotic world. It seems once you step through it’s lace edged doors that time slows and a languid air and staff ease away their customer’s worries with cups of exotic teas and scrumptious tidbits.

If you want something a little stronger or perhaps a beautiful set of clothes, or a stunning strand of pearls then all you have to do is walk into the back. Just keep in mind that once you walk through the door they’re working with a different ledger.

Like their alley cat cousins those that run the Tea Shoppe are smugglers. If you character needs something that they can’t scavenge on their own they go to the Nekos, but if you go to the Tea Shoppe they damn well better make sure it’s something of style. They don’t deal in or with riff raff, which is why their protectors and patrons is the Vampire Court.

The Carpet Riders

A motely crew of alley cats, The Carpet Riders are named after Steppenwolf song ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ and the main supplier and grower of non magical or medicinal drugs. As well as the victims for the Werewolves full moon picnics, in return the wolves protect them. If yc is looking for a score or something they can’t find on the Isle, walk down to the docks and look for someone who looks like they just walked out of Burning Man with cat ears.

The Library

The library is a strange building, even by the Isles standards. The place is a fortress, a windind twisting maze where only the initiated are safe. Even before the event, this magnificent building of stone and tile housed one of the largest collections of occult knowledge this side of the pond. Those that inhabit this alter of wisdom are a motley crew of monk like magic doers, their human helpers and various beasts to guard them. Those that thought them weak bookworms met horrendous fates and spread the belief that the Library holds a great treasure. Should yc have a question, an illness they cannot seem to cure or need sanctuary they go to the library. Though be careful, their prices are steep and no one really trusts their intentions. What are they doing in there?

Things to keep in mind should you decide to play in the library
Though the librarians keep to themselves, while not shut ins they tend not to get out much.
You will be alerted to certain plot twists before other groups, please no spoilers.

The Magic Shop

Run by the dapper Requin, the Magic Shop is the Isles only location for legitimate mystical supplies and pay as you go spells. There are others, though their prices are…steep.
No one knows where the shop came from. It certainly wasn’t here before the event. All the citizens know is one day there it was on the main drag. It’s deeply scented air and warm entrance enticing the ragged populace in. What was the color of your eyes worth compared to a charm that warded off vampires? What was a fang worth compared to a powder that could fend off Werewolves? What was a few drops of blood to know your future?

Requin is it’s owner but he’s only hardly the only one who staffs it. In fact, yc would have to be very lucky or very important to be served by the head magician himself. Mostly he’s in the back.

There are many rumors about what goes on in the back. Some say that it’s a school. Some say it’s where they perform unholy rituals and practice foul deeds.

Too bad only the initiated find out.

Things to keep in mind should yc work in the magic shop
YC is starting to lose their grip on reality
YC can be many different races and have many different motivations
Decide what you want yc to be able to do about the shop

Sons of the Gunn

The Sons of the Gunn are the only reason that humans have any kind of standing left in Graceland. They’ve flexed their muscles, learned how to take down the new supernatural threats and have made uneasy truces with both the Vampire Court and Werewolf Clan. A truce that all three parties are perpetually looking for loopholes in.
They are the watchdogs that guard the library and its great treasure. They patrol the streets, making sure the truce is enforced and they rescue the few new fish they can on full moons. Most of the time however they are training, both their minds and bodies, for the day when the peace eventually ends. If this strikes your fancy, please fill out the character sheet below.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Quote
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: What should we call your creation?

Age: How old are you?

Sexuality: What butters your parsnips?

Powers: To be a Son of a Gunn you have to be human. A mere mortal against the armies of darkness. However, yc is hardly helpless. Are they a crack shot? Maybe a wiz with a butterfly knife and some well placed punches? Think the Argents rather than Buffy.

Race: Human.

Weaknesses:  Other than being mortal.

Motivation: Are you just a good guy? Are you driven by a need to help what remains of your people? Do you hate the supernatural populace now in residence? Are you looking for redemption?

Personality: Just who are you?

History: Just how did you end up here? Were you here before the incident, an ordinary citizen made extraordinary by circumstance? Are a professional, with a grudge, determined not to take the fate of mankind lying down and smuggle yourself onto the Isle?

Relationships: What’s your role in group? Do you have any allies in the groups that they tolerate, the Nekos and the magic doers? Do you have a gf among Alucard’s stable or perhaps a more illicit affair?

Things to keep in mind if you plan a Son of a Gunn
You are a highly trained human being, no more no less.
You have few allies without complications. Those are the members of the library and the few humans still trying to have a life in Graceland.
You are competing with other groups to rescue/corrupt the few new humans that manage to survive Graceland (i.e. if you choose to be a Son of Gunn you might be asked to part of the welcoming committee for any new player)
Though they are called Sons of the Gunn, yc can be female. However, please provide a detailed backstory of how she ended up one. This particularly applies if yc is conventionally attractive. A girl like that, Alucard will hound to join his staff and the Vampires will glamour to be a blood doll.

The Hollow

The one safe and more importantly neutral space on the Isle of Grace. Treaties are signed here, front room deals are made and everyone huddles together on the full moon. No violence can occur in the enchanted square outside and all the rules are strictly imposed. It is run by the mysterious Alucard and his word is law. Staffed mostly by human women, who are also on the menu, the Hollow is home to Little Bits, Trouble and Sassy, just to name a few. If you're new to the island, you're lucky if this is the first door you knock on.

Alucard

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Quote
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Alucard

Age: Like hell if that’s any of your business.

Sexuality: Anything with the right curves.

Powers: Wouldn’t you like to know? There are many stories about Alucard, most of them contradict and he seems too strong to be a human but he doesn’t have any of the peculiarities of the other kinds that live in Graceland.

Race: Take a wild guess.

Weaknesses:  None. Who told you otherwise?

Motivation: Money and Bitches.

Personality: Alucard is an imposing figure. He’s cunning, ruthless and persuasive.

History: No one has gotten him drunk enough to find out yet.

Relationships: Alucard has a love hate relationship with everyone. He’s a powerful man who can get things done, he can be charming but he’s also ruthless and willing to stomp out those in his way. He never has a gf or bf for long, and doesn’t discriminate when it comes to race but once they start getting clingy he moves on to the next willing beauty.

Little Bits and Trouble

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Writer Name: Your Name Here

Character Name: Little Bits and Trouble

Age: Late teens to their early twenties.

Sexuality: Little Bits is a virgin and Trouble is anyone’s for the right price

Powers: Mostly looks, charm and sneaky hands.

Race: Human.

Weaknesses:  Being mortal and kept dependent on the Hollow for their daily needs.

Motivation: Survival, maybe happiness if they’re lucky.

Personality:  Trouble never grew out of being a spoiled teen and is scornful of her life. She tries to duck work whenever possible and looking for the easy life. Little Bits on the other hand is sweet, shy and just trying to make everyone happy.

History: Trouble was here before the event, Little Bits was saved from the jaws of Wolf by a Son of the Gunn.

Relationships: Little Bits has a crush on the Son of a Gunn that saved her but she’s too shy to tell him and many has many vampire admirers. Alucard mostly ignores her but she’s Sassy’s favorite. Trouble is a huge flirt and cycles through one boyfriend after another, liking them rough about the edges. She sometimes tumbles into bed with Alucard when she wants something and is the bane of Sassy’s work day.

That being said, you don’t have to belong to any of them. You can be lone whatever, but you have to explain why. Are you trying to become part of the Vampire Court? Do you disagree with the way the Werewolf pack is run? Are you a magic doer that broke some sacred rule? Are you a human, fresh off the boat that is trying to figure out how to survive Graceland?

Well if this gains more interest I may play a neko. ^^ I haven't played one in a long time and I'm kind of super craving it right now!

Also, anyone interested in creating a pair or plotting with me can feel free to pm me. I'm very friendly!

I am open to both bitten and born werewolves. I'm even open to there being hostilality between the two. Any chance you're thinking of playing a Son of a Gunn trying to hide the fact that she's turning?

If not, I am more than open to people playing multiple characters.

Wonderful! I orginally thought about not adding the Nekos but they're too cute to leave out and add that additional element of exactly how much 'we're no longer in Kansas' vibe to Graceland. Tea Shoppe or Carpet Rider?

Writer Name: Wicked Emi
Character Name: Raven Ott
Age: 24
Sexuality: Bisexual; mostly into men.

Powers: Has more than one form; her second form is red fennec fox. The best way to notice her no matter what she is, is the red hair. Image at bottom.
Race: Werewolf; turns into a red wolf. Image at bottom.
Weaknesses: Anything silver will burn her. Heck, almost every metal except for surgical steal and gold feels like it is burning her.
Motivation: Raven prefers to be a loner. Even with Sons of the Gunns, she picked scout to be alone. She is also motivated to hide her new nature and hopefully stay with the Sons of the Gunns.

Personality: Raven's personality somewhat changed when she turned. The core personalty traits stayed; Stubborn, cocky, flirtatious, outspoken, and sarcastic. However, as she turned werewolf, she became temperamental, adrenaline junkie, and sneaky. One of the things, that probably ended her up where she is now, is that she has a bad habit of teasing people who want her. If she knows that someone wants her or likes her, she will tease them and find something she wants in return, usually knowledge or getting something she "needs". However, if aroused, she has no shame in getting laid.

History: Raven was born and raised in the town, she was there when everything happened and quickly joined up with Sons of the Gunns as she wanted to keep her humanity. Since the boys somewhat made fun of her being a girl and wanting to be an enforcer and scout, she over trained. Beating just about everyone in scouting (I.E. running, hiding, finding the best things) and was in the top five for enforcer. However, she decided to be a scout. She was the best and she was able to be a bit more free. Once, while she was out on a scouting trip, she stopped at the magic shop and paid for a potion that would allow her to shift into a fennec fox. Her red hair turned to red fur no matter what she tried. Now, to how she turned into a werewolf. She was scouting near the werewolf den and figured she could flirt and tease information out of the werewolves. This rewarded her with a bite. Now she refuses to go anywhere near a werewolf and mostly tries to stick around the Sons of the Gunns territory, hiding what she has now become.

Relationships: For the Sons of the Gunns she is a scout, her job is to loot both items and information. As for the werewolves, she hasn't accepted this part and runs if if she see's or smells a werewolf.

Wonderful! I orginally thought about not adding the Nekos but they're too cute to leave out and add that additional element of exactly how much 'we're no longer in Kansas' vibe to Graceland. Tea Shoppe or Carpet Rider?
That's a tough choice, really. I'm thinking she'd rather be a Tea Shopper but she hates Vampires, so she ended up with the Carpet Riders...

Lots of potential WickedEmi! I like it.

Couple of things I wanted to ask though. Why did she go looking for a second form? Since the Sons of the Gunn are strictly human, what prompted her to do a deal with a magic doer to become a shapeshifter? Or did she think because it was a spell that she was still fully human when she did this and therefore only skirting the rules?

Also how are you going to have her hide the change from her fellow Sons on the full moon? Does she avoid them? Or has she yet to face that dilemma yet and dreading it?

A pretty kitty who's forced to live rough on the docks? Lots of ways to go with that one.

Colour me interested.

I'm thinking a neko who's something along the lines of The Thin Man from Charlie's angels(with maybe a dash of Hyde).  I'd prefer something neutral, but the tea shoppe might be ok for faction.

@Mauve: Also, I absolutely adore the premise of Smiling Masks from your solos thread. Any chance of folding that into the story?

Thanks, love! I could see it happening. She's a Neko that runs a dockside bar, he's a vampire follower of Gabriel who has angered Tatenda and had been banished. Could happen.

My response didn't post!! >:[

She does see herself as human with a dash of magic. She decided to go to the magicians because she figured it would be easier to slink around as a cute adorable fox. She does think that she is skirting the rules because she wasn't bitten....you know what I mean....and wasn't "turned" into a shapeshifted in her mind.

First full moon of the game will be her first full moon. She is thinking of hiding in a hole..... o.o

Actually, I'd love to play with the neko stereotype  a bit. I know they're usually portrayed as cutesy anime things, but I don't see any reason why they couldn't be capable of holding their own. I think it would be good to have a few neko characters that command a bit of respect or fear amongst the other races too. Cats have amazing reflexes and agility, probably even better than what vampires are usually credited with. The picture I have in mind is a tomcat, a bit wild and sinister at times, but suave as hell, and with that typical smug cat attitude. The face I have in mind is Mads Mikkelsen. He'd probably have a rough background, known for being a bit unpredictable. I can imagine him being fairly sadistic, and a bit of a bully, riling up vampires just for sport, like a cat playing with a snake. Maybe he could be the neko, and her the vampire.

If the concept sounds interesting, let me know, and I'll get to work creating something that's a bit better fleshed out. If it doesn't appeal, I'd still be amicable to playing something similar as a vampire.

I like it. In a few ways that makes the story telling easier. She could be a lone vampire, suspicious of the court and economically throws her lot in with the Werewolves and the werewolf sponsered Carpet Riders. She runs a rough and tumble dockside bar, someplace the smugglers come in for a nip after the trecherous days on the water and dealing with *shudder* normal people. The Alpha Werewolf suspicious of a vampire on their satelite community sends him to keep an eye on her. There's a until now NCP character named Rita that would work well for this part.

If you would rather he was a memeber of the Tea Shoppe, we could work with that as well.

That could work. She did everything with the best intentions. She was only trying to help. Most importantly she was still human. The first post is up and does take place on the full moon, if you would care to add to the thread feel free.

Hmm... how about he is an agent of the vampire court?  Someone outside the circle that they use to do their dirty work, when politics get in the way. For him, serving the court is merely a matter of convenience, he holds no great loyalty to them.  She could have some sort of gripe with the court, maybe she's the daughter of an elder, and feels her assigned place is beneath her, intended to keep her out of the way. Maybe she's a bit more lowbrow, just a common vampire who's dirty about being treated like some blood doll. Maybe she is(or was) a blood doll, who looks after a feeding den, and is supposed to keep the others in check. So long as she's ambitious, the rest is pretty much up to you.

That leaves me free to cultivate a rivalry with the wolves, since cats and dogs never get along, and fits with my image of a well groomed cat in a suit. Vampires are far more likely to find a sophisticate appealing. Oh, and if  Mads doesn't appeal as a face, let me know. I'm open to suggestions.

I could see him being an agent of Gabriel. I'm leaning towards her being Rita. We'll keep the face model. Say she was an accidental vampire, a blood doll that was turned by an over eager member of the court. She wants nothing to do with them, and they with her. With this distance in mind she sets up on Werewolf territory down the docks. All is fine and well until she starts making a profit. They say since she's a vamp she owes them money and because she's on their territory the weres say that she owes them money. Maybe she's been able to play them off of each other...until Gabriel sends him.

If you want to post, you could show how much regaurd your character has for the rules by coming to the bar to order drinks from Rita, rather than waiting for Little Bits to come up and ask for orders.
