Topic: Wait, where am I?

I had to replace my computer recently, and have been going through the gauntlet of re-installing all of my programs (or as Windows 8 like to call them, apps  ). One of my programs is a bit secure, checking my IP address. I was a bit surprised to find it had my location listed as Long Beach, CA, instead of Texas, where I live. After a couple quick google searches along the lines of 'where is my IP', sure enough, it seems like I'm registering in California somehow. Everything else is right, down to my ISP.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing the confusion?

I found out that my ISP is not where I thought it was, so that could just be how it is.

At one point, all of AOL's users tracked to Reston, VA.

That worked well. It put my location on the map about five miles from my house. Hm.. ~looks out his window to see if Oreo is lurking about~

Most likely that is where the nearest repeater station is located.
