I've not seen that one but I'll take you word.  ;D  I'm just trying to imagine Joker and Harley fighting orcs and other fantasy creatures like the trailer implies. lol

But that aside, I'm kinda hyped for this, I wonder how it'll turn out.

I just started Hell's Paradise, and I'm really enjoying it. I love the dynamic between Gabimaru and Sagira. 😊

After Oshi no ko, it is my favorite anime of the year, I've praised it at length already here I think.  I do love the dynamic plus they really do great with the other side characters as well, they are all quite interesting and, at times, heartbreaking.  Though that said I really need to finish it up, it gets quite... deep in the later eps.

On other sides,  I've been starting to watch the new summer series as they start, though I know there are still plenty more to come through the month.  So far, most of the lot is pretty meh, nothing terrible but nothing stand out, a lot of isekai.  But I have to say just watched the first episode of Undead Murder Farce and I'm enthused and intrigued.  The world building done in the first episode gives me hope for a very good tale and a wonderfully interesting world.

Pain

Recently, I watched the entirety of Puella Magi Madoka Magica in a day, then Rebellion the following day... I could not stop crying. But honestly, the lore is interesting enough that you could probably base a few roleplays around it, even if the inevitable is inevitable.

inkybus

Puella Magi Madoka is great. A fantastic deconstruction of magical girl shows!

Homura did nothing wrong. (jk)

Pain

That, and Magical Girl Raising Project are among some of my favorite animanga tackling magical girls. I just really like seeing girls with frilly dresses fight to the death or get depression (equally devastating, really).

My next to-watch is Initial D, which, I get is a very strange departure from the only two anime I've listed, but a really close friend and family member to me has always been into it so I figured I'd give it a watch.

Seeing a lot of anime fans loosing their shit over Gohands The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses show and it just strikes me as being a bit ridiculous and elitist.  They seem upset the studio using all kinds of interesting camera tricks and background and just flipping out that they are doing all this because it's a simple story.  Like so?!  It is such a simple story and not super original, at least not unless it throws some curve balls in future, that I figure they want to spice it up.  I don't see it as bad as it gives the eyes something to appreciate, though I can see people saying it's a bit over the top.  But the vitriol I'm seeing is a bit excessive.  I find the overly cinematic work kind of amusing when it's an anime about a simple crush love story where the girl keeps forgetting to bring her glasses or breaks them because she forgot them somewhere.

Finished off Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon (Danmachi) last Friday nite.  Woa, did that ever go from 'stupidly fun' to 'crazy dark' in the span of 4 seasons.  A few 'best girls' in Lili, Haruhime, and Ryuu, and two who must be protected with ones' life in Wiene (a dragon girl) and Marie (a mermaid).  A few epic battles thrown in there for good measure too.  Bell really had to grow up quick...I've grown to really like him as a protagonist.  Dungeons grow more treacherous and dangerous the deeper one descends, and not all Familia are out to do good for the world.  Gimme a Season V already!

I also got started on the subs for Mushoku Tensei's second outing with a full length prologue episode on Sylphiett's whereabouts post-Mana/teleport disaster.  I do plan on a double-dip....subs as-aired to avoid spoilers elsewhere, English dub when it begins to drop.  I read ahead in the LNs after Season 1 finished (to Vol 16), so I have an idea of what will happen....but so much goes on in those books that I have forgotten the half of the story's events.  But without spoiling, for anyone still keeping up with this series despite all of its controversial junk, this is setting up for what's going to be a whirlwind season full of ups and downs, that's for sure!  I'm excited!

For a lighter note, I've began the process of digging into my always-growing backlog for The Land of Leadale, a show I sat on for its English dub (anime-viewing preference when available) to wrap up last year.  So far it gives me Grace of the Gods vibes....fun and bright/cheerful atmosphere.  No surprise being animated by the same studio (Maho Film) who did the aforementioned Grace / Gods.

I have to admit, I find it hilarious that there are crossovers but they can't get a green light for Season 10, apparently? >__> Man, that's such a diss to the fans.

Back on topic, I watched the first episode of 'My Happy Marriage' on Netflix, and I'm immediately hooked. The first episode basically set up how the main female character has such a tragic past and even a terrible life since her family mistreated her so badly. Just imagine her basically being a Cinderella of sorts. I just felt invested in the character and want to see her just happy, because she endured so much and became so hopeless in her life. I'm already excited for the second episode and I'm really, really hoping that it would be a slow burn between her and the main male lead.

I watched the first episode of the Rurouni Kenshin anime today, I'm hooked again. The animation is great and while they still left in some humor they did make some changes and it actually looks better now. The 4 episode Ova, Trust & Betrayal is still one of my all time favorites so yeah I'm excited and hopefull for the rest of the remake.

Along with Mushoku Tensei's 2nd season, I'm also watching this one.  I started it last Wednesday once hearing that the first episode had gone live (this show's a Jpn-sub/Eng dub "same-day" like Tomo-chan Is a Girl was earlier this year).  I think I'm going to enjoy this one.  Yes, it's very 'Cinderella-like' in its storyline, but knowing how anime stories tend to go, there may be a twist and a turn in there to keep things interesting, and us viewers invested in our heroine's search for happiness.  I'm rooting for her and wishing all the unhappiness on her wicked stepmother and step-sister.  Just thinking of those two fires me up!

I quietly, low-key slipped this series into my queue, but I admit, I was hesitant for 'reasons' most probably know by now.  But I then thought about it further, and it came down to 'entertainment being full of rubbish people', so if I passed on Kenshin, I'd have to pass on everything else that gives me enjoyment created by 'bad apples' in the batch.

That aside, So far the debut has been solid and on-point.  I took to my old Media Blasters DVDs to do a A-B comparison between the 1996 debut and this do-over.  Gone are the side characters (ie: the old man and his two grandchildren) present in the 1996 take, so too was the silly 'bath encounter' our wayward 'rurouni' stumbled into with a none-too-pleased Kaoru hurling an object his way (I forgot what it was).  They did also do away with him calling out his attack(s), a common shounen anime trope, on that gang leader trying to use his 'Battousai' moniker to tarnish his name.  What they did keep was important though; Kenshin still has his goofy expressions ('oro?') and he still ends many lines in that over-formal way, "that he does.".  The general tone I could gather was a bit on the neutral side....and it's going to progressively get darker until we reach the penultimate arc dealing with his past life.....which the OAVs you mentioned, cover.  We also have a couple arcs that never got the anime treatment to look forward to.

Going by the first episode and the comparisons I noted, if they keep at this pace, this adaption will be a keeper.

I watched the first two eps of The Dreaming Boy is A Realist and while I feel the title is a misnomer, I am intrigued by this different take on a romcom, reminds me a bit of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU in that respect.  The premise and how certain things unfold reminds me of some of the twitter toons I've seen where they do skits of what would happen to a tsundre in real life.  Basically, the MC has been pestering this girl for a year or two, basically getting rejected every day but still always hanging around her and practically stalking her.  And then one day he gets hit in the head while doing his normally pestering and she tells him again to leave him alone, but this time he agrees.  And so that's what it's basically about, him basically realizing how pathetic he is and everyone around him reacting to the fact of how he's changed, not hanging around the girl, wondering what is up as it's been a constant in their school life.

But basically, he keeps agreeing he will leave her alone now and starts to see things in more harsh yet realistic terms, which is how he talks with others who come to him.  Basically the harsh gaze he's put on himself after getting hit he puts on others which some are thankful for.  Overall, I think it's the most interesting slice of life kind of anime this season so far, though I know there area  few more to premier later in the month.

I just watched the first episode, and it's funny for me to see how his world immediately becomes so colourful that even blood painted on the zombies are multicoloured in a way. But man, his life must had sucked so much that he has nothing to live for when he felt a zombie apocalypse had actually changed his life for the better. >->

.. Still gonna watch this because I'm curious on what his bucket list is going to be.

I plan to keep up with this one, for sure.  I don't know how 'big' it is with the greater anime-watching public, but hopefully it does well enough.

-----

I have two more to add now to my watchlist this season.  So far, my watchlist has:
- Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon (Will be starting tomorrow 7/19)
- Sweet Reincarnation (dub started Mon 7/17)

And that's on top of these:
- Mushoku Tensei S2 (rewatching S1 right now with my BluRay copies, thanks to the English dub of S2 starting this past Sunday.  I jumped the gun with the Japanese subs to avoid running into spoilers...even though I cheated and read/listened to the LNs after S1 ended)
- My Happy Marriage (already mentioned)
- Rurouni Kenshin 2023 (Trying this sub-only for now.....I may go back if an English dub starts)
- Farming Life in Another World (From this past Winter season, the Eng. dub is ongoing, 6 ep of 12 total left)

Too many anime, too little time.

We're now 7 episodes far and yeah I'm really loving the remake. As I said before, the animation is still going great, voice acting is spot on. They mashed together some episodes from the old serie which causes the remake to actually move smoother and events to make more sense. Same with the cutting of some unnessecary extra char's from the original anime (the old doctor and his two nieces) Another part that is different compared to the previous one, is that former imperialists recognize Kenshin and remember their meetings with him. This for me causes for it to have a good transistion between his past and his present and that his actions still are intermingled in his daily life.

Now looking forward to the next few episodes because of the Oniwabanshu and Shinomori Aoishi arc is coming up.

ChaoticIllusion

"Dark Gathering" on HiDive has been pretty good, if you want relatively cutesy looking characters going after spirits to submit to their will to take on an even larger scarier spirit. Pretty graphic with the gore and subject matter. It has some "Mieruko-Chan" vibes but instead of ignoring the ghost Yayoi kicks their ass xD

I knew a little what me and the boyfriend were getting into with "Oshi no Ko," I read the first volume. He had no idea and was like damn, not what he expected from an idol show. Can't wait for a second season of that.

We started the Rurouni Kenshin Remake, couldn't quite get a few other friends into it due to what was going on with the manga author. I don't know all the details either, but we try to separate the work from the artist if it’s for something we enjoy.
I was able to convince one of them to try "Reborn as Vending Machine," based on essentially Smokey the Bear Guild Master ^.^
I don't remember if I ever finished the original Kenshin anime. I recall fairly well up to the Shishio Arc but I don't know what was past that. It certainly wasn't what happened in the manga.

"Reign of the Seventh Spellblade," been good, not quite your typical magical high school trope which is what I got at first. It's a tad more sinister, and got to that ‘Oh, that's why it’s in the opening’ moment last time we watched it.

"Heavenly Delusion" or "Tengoku Daimakyo" on Hulu had good world building, not what we usually go to watch but were excited to see what happens next.

We're waiting for the dub to finish on "Bleach. Thousand Year Blood War". We binged the first season last winter. It wouldn't quite be the same without Johnny Yong Bosch as Ichigo. Certainly, a flashback on how the art style changed from the original anime xD
I dropped the original anime somewhere during Hueco Mundo Arc, the fillers were getting a little too much. Ended up reading the manga last year.

Any thoughts on "Trigun Stampede"? The art style threw me off at first, but it grew on me. Certainly, went more for the Sci-Fi than Western theme compared to the original anime. I think that follows the manga closer, I read a Trigun manga, but I don't remember which one since there's a Deluxe Edition coming out end of the year.

"Kamierabi GOD.app" looked interesting from the trailer I watched. The art style was a little odd, I' wasn't sure on the exact premise, but it has Yoko Taro and Atsushi Ohkubo wokring together on it, so I was intrigued.

ViniiTube on YouTube does some previews for upcoming anime seasons.

So ends this anime ramble, cheers~

Jujutsu Kaisen is a great series. Currently watching the second series and loving it.

Kakihara

I sadly need to catch up with Jujutsu Kaisen, I've fallen behind near the end of the first season, need to finish up like two eps and then watch the new season.  Little clips from the season season makes me think it will be a heck of a hilarious ride so really want to plow through to get through that season.

Ariel

It is fantastic! I love it so much. This season will be especially good (and heartbreaking).

I’m a little behind on the manga but I really need to sit down and catch up..
