I know there's a topic for suggestions somewhere, but I think this is too important to spend time looking for it.  I think there should be a tombstone icon for use when announcing a death and a red cross icon for use when announcing medical issues.

I'd go along with the red cross as that's universal but I think a celebration of life for someone who has passed deserves a halo or angel wings.  Even a lily would work.

I rather like those suggestions!  A red cross is definitely something that is pretty universal.  However, I do have to agree with Beguile's assessment of using a halo or angel wings or a lily.

This may be morbid, but your suggestion brings up something I've thought about before.  I'm a member of several forums, all ranging in subject matter and purpose, and I've made some great friends at each one.  So, in our firesafe, along with important documents like birth certificates etc., there is an envelope with a list of websites and log in information and instructions on each for who Mr. S needs to contact if something ever happens to me.  There's another sealed envelope with the same for him.

Does anyone else have  something like this, or am I just weird?

Anyway, end hijack, I'm sorry for that....

I don't have that Serena, but it sounds like a great idea. I might send one to my son or nephew. Thanks.

You're welcome Oreo!

It's just one of those things.  I have friends online that I talk often, and some here on E that I talk to on a daily basis.  The idea of something happening to me and these friends that I've made never knowing it, that is not a very pleasant one.

There are some online possibilities that do the same, some of them automatically. For example,, or

Some of them require that you log in periodically and if you fail to do so, then they do a certain thing (like send email to certain address or addresses)...
