DOOMBRINGER
Real Name: Cain Bruce Marko II
Also Known As: J2, Tiny, Jr.
Place of Birth: Los Angeles, California
Occupation: (Super)Soldier of Fortune
Known Associations: French Foreign Legion, Government Officials worldwide, shadowy organizations, rebel alliances, crime families, etc...(whoever can afford him really)

Origin and Background: What happens when two powerhouses team up take down an extra-dimensional entity? They party when they win of course!! Years ago Cain Marko, more famously known as The Juggernaut, met She-Hulk; and it was lust at first sight. The two were both downtown for separate reasons, but ended up bumping into each other when a giant creature tore through the barrier dividing it's home dimension with Earth.

Cain and Shulkie were the only two people in the area with powers, much less the only ones with enough power to fight it off. Together they absolutely dominated the creature and forced the monster back where it came from. Once the fight was over, he took his shot and asked if he could buy her a few rounds to celebrate. They drank until the bar closed because it ran out of booze, and then went to a motel and...well they destroyed two rooms. Their fling continued for a few weeks, but then both drifted back to their usual routines. It wasn't until Cain was informed that he had gotten She-Hulk pregnant that he and she had an actual conversation.

The two talked and realized that while life wouldn't be perfect, they didn't absolutely hate each other, and both wanted to keep the child. So they gave an actual relationship a shot, and actually found they had a lot in common as She-Hulk went through her pregnancy. When it came time to give birth, they had a room in Avengers Tower reinforced just for Jenn and after 12 hours of labor and causing a few tremors to shake the neighborhood, the power couple were blessed with a healthy baby boy...with glowing eyes. They decided to name him after his father, and Cain gave him the middle name Bruce after his uncle, the man who over the years had time and time again given him some of the best fights of his life. And while the newborn was healthy, Cain Jr. was definitely not normal.

With a new life to protect and care for, both Cain and Jenn stepped back from the super scene. He basically stopped being a supervillain and actually joined the X-Men, making up with Xavier and teaching  in exchange for helping train his son. Jenn took some time off from her law practice, and only worked as a reserve Avenger while she got rid of her baby weight. Growing up, it was obvious from a young age that Cain Jr. was strong like his parents, and he broke a lot of things on accident. He had to be trained young so he wouldn't be a danger to anybody, and would travel from Xavier's to Avenger's Tower to learn and train from both sides of his parents super teams. He got decent at controlling his powers, but when puberty hit, an issue arose.

While he could naturally access the infinite energies of the Ruby of Cyttorak to become a Juggernaut like his father, that connection also meant Cyttorak himself could speak to and influence him. And to make matters worse, his Hulk side meant he was prone to fits of emotional excitement far more often and with exponentially more intensity than a normal person. More than once the Elder Demon manipulated the young and emotional boy into deeds of destruction and chaos. There was even an adventure into the Crimson Cosmos once to fight him and tell him to back the hell off. During these incidents, it would take a beatdown from his dad to calm him down, or his uncles telepathy putting him to sleep. It was frustrating as Hell, even though he completely understood they didn't have many other solutions to his problem. As he grew, he got better and better at resisting the demon's temptation, and eventually he could keep them mostly contained.

After turning eighteen, instead of joining either the Avengers or X-Men, he decided to join the French Foreign Legion. Because he'd trained nearly his entire life and had superpowers, it was easy to rise in the ranks, and eventually he was leading his own squad. When that same squad happened upon a cache of gold during a mission did they report it to command and get it returned to the right hands? Fuck no. Cain reburied it and retrieved it later after all their troops had pulled out of the area. With his powers it was easy to dig it back up and leave before anyone even knew he was there. He divided the gold up between his boys, and over the next year or so, all of them finished their service and retired in luxury. Cain wasn't finished however, and had a thirst for the excitement and adrenaline that combat could bring him. He decided that his powers were worth quite a bit, so he started selling himself to organizations who needed a magical walking tank. He found rapid success in the market of super-powered mercenary work, and still does it today, making a pretty penny solving problems only a gamma powered demonspawn can handle.

Powers:

Cain is weirdly enough considered a mutant, somehow created as the byproduct of a magically powered mutate and a gamma powered mutate(kind of like Franklin Richards). The crimson energies of Cyttorak bonded in utero on an atomic level with the gamma radiation flooding Cain's cells. It amplified the abilities he already had and created all new powers neither parent had access to.

Due to his father's lifetime as the Juggernaut, Cain Jr. is naturally an Avatar for Cyttorak's demonic energies. He can channel them into this world through himself and by doing so give himself the powers of the Juggernaut; however he is not beholden to follow his orders or have his powers stripped like his father. Strength, durability, speed and more far beyond what most people can deal with. A force field he can summon at will. And the ability to become physically unstoppable once set in motion. Like the Hulk in him, his powers grow stronger with intense emotions. He normally doesn't turn fully green, but there is a neon tint to his skin. However, as he gets angrier and more passionate, more and more color saturates his body until he resembles his mother and uncle.

Super Strength - Empowered by the demonic energies of Cyttorak, Doombringer's body is is saturated with them, supercharging and altering his system to have strength far beyond the normal. He is strong enough to go toe to toe with the strongest of enemies, and thanks to the Hulk in his blood, he grows stronger as he fights when his emotions are triggered. Thankfully, he can control his strength, and can interact with normal people with no problems.

Physically Unstoppable - Once Cain begins moving in a direction, there is almost nothing in existence that can stop him. He has walked through oceans, mountains, an almost unlimited amount of weapons and soldiers; all of it with a single-minded determination and nothing to make him pause. He can be slowed, distracted, taken off course and even almost stopped, but no one can stop him completely.

Invulnerability - Juggernaut. The Hulk. She-Hulk. All of them are known for being insanely tough, and Doombringer is no different. The magical/gamma energies flowing through him have made him essentially immortal.  He can take pain and punishment on an insane scale, and the power of two high-end healing factors working together means any serious damage tends to heal itself over time.

Magic - Cain Marko Sr. is a very simple man who never cared to understand that his powers allowed for far more than just being unstoppable and able to punch things really hard, despite having far more impressive feats under his belt(like that time he punched through several dimensional barriers, or walked on air). Wanting better for their son, Jenn and Cain got Dr. Strange to tutor him in the mystic arts, and while he wasn't always the best student, he had tons of potential and has become a very competent sorcerer using Cyttorak's magical and nearly infinite energy as a power source.

Enhanced Locomotion - His super strength comes with some extra perks, like the ability to make absolutely massive leaps through the air, and run at superhuman speeds. However, due to his sheer size and the speed being a byproduct of the strength, he isn't considered a speedster. He's just a guy who can run at superspeed...but has trouble turning, slowing down, and stopping if he actually goes too fast.

Force Field - With concentrated thought, Doombringer can create a force field surrounding his body to further protect him from damage. However due to his natural durability, it  is more often used to keep people or things from touching him, or to shield others in his vicinity from harm that he can't use his body to protect them from. He is able to expand or retract the size of the field at will.

Skills:

Tactician - Having learned battlefield strategies and tactical thinking from great minds such as Cyclops, Captain America, and more, Cain has been taught by the best, and put his education into real world application during his years with the Legion. Despite his powers being all about brawn, he definitely compliments them with his brain...until he hits a certain anger threshold, then all bets are off.

Charismatic - Not so much a thing he was taught as a skill he picked up through constant negotiations and deals to get the best benefit for himself or the people he represented. Whether this was growing up and trying to get more "training time"(more like super-powered free for alls) in school, or getting better pay for his rank, or even convincing his squad to shut the hell up about the gold they found. He has a way with words that his massive size and angry look wouldn't get across.

Multilingual - When you grow up around people who speak a different language, you naturally tend to learn the language. Well Cain grew up around people who spoke practically any language you can speak of, and had access to a telepath who could just make you understand things, so he is at least conversational in several languages and dialects. He of course, also learned French while in the Legion.

Leadership - Despite all his faults, Cain is decisive, quick-witted, and dedicated to the people around him. He has always had the ability to at least get people to listen to the validity of his statements, even if that doesn't equate to them following his every order. He has spent the past few years giving them though, and at least in a combat situation, he's far from the worst person to get an earful from.

Gadgets:

Armor - By manipulating the crimson energy and gamma energy within his body, Cain can summon his own suit of Juggernaut armor that like his fathers, primarily serves to make sure he always has something to wear, but more importantly, that his mind is protected from mental assault, which is a large weakness of one who is raw physical power.

Appearance: Zane is massive. That's what most people think when they first see him. He's seven feet tall, and three-hundred pounds of solid muscle, and it shows. He is very well defined and seems like he lives in the gym. And the muscles he's so proud of are covered in tattoos all over his body(he had a rebellious phase). He usually keeps a beard, as shaving is a pain and he honestly likes the wild man look. Same goes for his hair.

It's long and flowing and green and he loves it. His eyes are unique in that they glow in times of excitement; although whether they glow red or green is seemingly random.  While he is already large, he can increase his weight and size through force of will or rage, causing him to become much, much larger if the need arises. This primarily happens when he summons his armor, as he gains around a foot in height and more muscle mass(as if he needed it). Like his father, he can mystically create a suit of armor that covers his body from head to toe. His suit is subconsciously created in a style Cain Jr. resonates with, and takes the form of a reinforced, black and gray tactical suit with a badass faceplate. When armored up, his hair seems to be covered in neon green gamma flames in a phenomenon no one has been able to explain to him yet.

Personality: Although Cain Jr's birth is what caused Cain Marko to reform, he was still Cain Marko. He was a rough, gruff, old school guy who drilled that into his son. He made him tough, strong, and completely unable to take shit from anyone, even his old man. On the other hand, that confidence and attitude can shift when his mother is mentioned. She's far more his moral compass than dear old dad, and her(usually) green face is the one he thinks of when's contemplating doing the right thing or trying to help people. An easy way to think of it is that he's a normal guy with super powers and tries his best to navigate the situations and temptations they bring his way. For example, if you had super strength and magic and stuff, wouldn't you want to benefit and profit from it? If you said no, you're a liar and you should be ashamed.

Is Cain always good? No. Is he always bad? Also no, but he's not always not bad. Even on his worst days, Cain doesn't consider himself a villain, although the thought has crossed his mind during some of his more morally gray and black patches. Even on the occasions Cyttorak gets in his head, he's actively fighting his influence as giving in would be way too easy and end very badly for everyone around him. So at the end of the day, he's a sarcastic asshole, but he'd give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, and put a boot up the ass of someone trying to screw someone over. Oh, and considering he's half a Hulk...well. Those anger issues can get really, really intense. He's got it under control though...mostly...kind of?

Weaknesses: Like any magically powered entity, powerful magic is a very real weakness for Cain. With it, his enchantments can be altered or taken away, he can be attacked directly, or even manipulated. The possibilities when dealing with magic are almost limitless; especially when looking down the barrel. Gamma radiation is also an issue, as it affects him and other Hulk's in mysterious ways. It could drain him completely, or boost him to previously unseen levels. Any device or tech or phenomenon that alters or hurts gamma mutates also effects him. Since his powers seem to be connected to one another, attacking one could throw the other out of wack and totally screw up his entire power matrix for who knows how long.

He also shares many weaknesses of inconvenience with his father. He is extremely susceptible to mental and psionic manipulation and attack if he isn't wearing his helmet, and any halfway decent telepath can force him to sleep or under their command to stop him in his tracks. Also, he has a hard time stopping once he gets going, so anyone who can get him into bad terrain(cement pit, lava, deep water, etc...) can get him out of the way at least temporarily. What he considers his biggest weakness is that even though Cyttorak can't fuck with his actual powers, he can freely speak to Cain whenever he wants, and his suggestions hold more sway due to his natural bond to the crimson energy Cyttorak supplies. While he can fight him off, there are times the demon gets at least partial control, even in his adult life.

Hahaha. What can I say?  No matter what you are...your kid is probably a mutant.

Empyrean

Congrats on the character! :)

Laussa is herself the daughter of a Fire Demon (I forgot that she has a demon form, according to the wiki). I think she and Cain might get along swimmingly.

Juggtacular

Thanks and also thanks for reminding me I need to set up character connections.

I'm sure they'd get on well. Have any ideas for prior meetings? Maybe he helped her with a con or something?

Empyrean

There we go. Edited Laussa to add her demon form and make a few small tweaks.

As for having previously met, Laussa hasn't been to Earth before the game starts. But I'd imagine that hearing the stories of a woman who smashes everything in her path without meaning to might be familiar to Cain and draw his attention? Laussa doesn't have Thor's experience in toning down her strength to function on Midgard, so I expect there will be a lot of accidents as she acclimatizes.

Juggtacular

That would catch his interest.  Maybe depending on where you have her show up, he could get hired to investigate more about her. You wouldn't call in beat cops to check out a woman who can stroll through a concrete wall.

So! As far as character connections for Parker...

Anastasia Kravinova: Aware of the show, probably, and that their dads had a feud. He and Miles have probably messed up some of Hammerhead's operations (and Felicity has probably stolen from Hammerhead), so really the question is whether or not Ana's already gone after any of the three of them yet. If she hasn't gone after any of them yet, he might not yet be aware of her status as a killer for hire for Hammerhead.

Cain Bruce Marko Jr.: Your guess is as good as mine!

David Asterlon: So while David is immune to Parker's spider-sense, Venom will probably pick up on its grandkid running around sooner or later, with Parker noticing there seems to be a trail of bodies and heinous acts left in the symbiote's wake.

Lana Laufrey: It sounds like she's been deliberately flying under the radar as far as capes go, so they probably haven't crossed paths yet, but might meet soon, either at one of Felicity's shindigs that she and Laussa get an invite to, or if/when Laussa draws a crowd.

Laussa Odinsdottir: Could meet up for the first time at one of Felicity's shindigs, or they could cross paths if she's unwittingly drawing some attention with superstrength mishaps.

• Matthew Summers: Leaning towards not having crossed paths yet. But Parker's definitely heard of the guy before, and they're likely to cross paths at one of Felicity's parties eventually. Would be entertaining if maybe the Daily Bugle, while ragging on Miles and Parker, is one of the media outlets that called for Matt's pardon and hailed him as giving the crooks what they deserved?

Penelope Marconi: I guess the question is whether we want Miles and/or Parker to be one of the heroes Penelope has already tangled with, if she's been active in the New York City area before the start of the game, of if she's mostly been a San Francisco Bay Area phenomenon up until now?

Raze Darkholme: Depends on what Raze is up to, really, outside of messing with the X-men.

Any other thoughts, ladies and gents?

That's likely scenario, David is like, tops year been active in Mexico (outside US) but he has recently entered so he is new on US soil activity-wise. Anyways any mutilated corpses are from gangs, criminals and those connections to Mexico cartels. So not innocents but bodies and likely trace of symbiot activity would alarm him and Venom pick idea it's one grandkids, but which one? He would learn more details once closer; learn it's Toxins kids who are acting up.

Vergil Tanner

Hmm, that's a question. Would pheromones and substances that affect his brain chemistry work on Cain? *Thinky Face*

Either way, interesting character! He'll certainly be hard to deal with. Everybody here is a super heavy hitter, so I think Felicity's plan of attack should basically be "Avoid Them." xD

Though now I have an idea for a purely magical-based character. They're super powerful, but they almost treat it like Comic Relief. Like, imagine a character who has magical abilities in the same vein as Satana and Doctor Strange, but uses them to live out a "Magical Girl" fantasy a la Sailor Moon. So they have a transformation "animation" and everything, and people are watching like "...what the fuck are you talking about?" xD

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

Juggtacular

A real life Magical Girl. Hahahah fucking brilliant.

I'd say that while he's slightly more susceptible to psionics to offset how tough he is, he's about as vulnerable to pheromones and mind-altering stuff as other people. It will effect him. Although for how long is up in the air, since he's not like Dr. Doom with his insane willpower that lets him just ignore stuff like complete pheromone control or other things that should make him obey you. But it would depend on if whatever he's affected by is seen as something to be "fixed" by his healing factor. To put it simply, for plot reasons he'll probably be the same as anyone else if he gets spritzed, but might randomly shake it off sometime later or something. Gases and things like that are weird to think about.

Zaer Darkwail

So tear gas can annoy him but fast recovery may negate the harmful effects fast. Unless he is exposed to reinforced version or enormous amount of it (and his helm/armor may have simple gas protection).

Vergil Tanner

I know, right? xD If we end up being allowed second characters, I might use that concept xD

That makes sense. Yeah, how things like pheromones are perceived by a healing factor would depend on how you classify them. Are they foreign bodies actively altering your brain chemistry like cocaine or weed? In which case, yes, they'd be seen as "healing targets." You might not be immune, but you'd recover faster. But if you consider them to just be chemicals that provoke a specific response in the chemicals already in your brain - like animals going into heat and the males smelling it and being like "DAYUM GURL WANNA FUCC" - then the argument for the converse could be made, since it's just the chemicals in your brain working "as designed," just at an inconvenient time. I don't think that's really been explored in comics beyond a few one-off examples. xD I guess you'd have to find if somebody like Wolverine, Hulk or Deadpool had ever been under the effects of a chemical brainwasher-thingy to figure it out.

Oh God, Doctor Doom is ridiculous and I love him. I remember one time when Doom had Killgrave hooked up to a worldwide amplifier machine, and Killgrave was like "I should be the one in charge! They're my powers, after all!"
So Doom ordered everybody out, took off his protective helmet and said "Ok then. Order me to do something."
Killgrave was like "Release me! Quack like a duck! Kneel!"
And Doom is like "No. I don't kneel."

Like, ok then. Doom can just casually resist mind control because he's that got that much fucking willpower. What a badass. xD

Juggtacular

Exactly. It's such a case by case thing depending on the substance, how much of it, the reaction, etc... it's kind of easier to just play it by ear and go with the flow for the sake of the story.

And that was the exact moment I was thinking of. When Purple Man, the guy whose power it is to tell you to do things and you do them(including fuck him and have his children or kill yourself), Doom just decided, "You know what? Fuck that, and fuck you. No." He essentially did a  casual, comic version of the "dramatic hero powerup" in anime where the main guy is getting his ass beat, then he just gets mad or remembers friendship and suddenly can easily beat the main baddie.  "Here's this so far in the entirety of this characters history, completely irresistible power." Doom - -resists quite easily- Okay then.

Vergil Tanner

Yeah, but I actually didn't mind. For one, it's ok for the antagonists to be OP, because then the heroes have to find a way to beat them and it makes for an interesting conflict. Secondly, that was hardly the first time Doom has displayed his insane willpower. He's done that sort of thing before, just saying "...nah, I'd rather not," so whilst if - say - Norman Osborn did it I'd be like "Oh, fuck off," when Doom does it? I mean, I buy it. This is the guy who went back in time to learn magic from Merlin and Morgan La Fey, and then got back to modern times by waiting. The guy is all kinds of insane xD

It's possible. I thought up a second one so she might appear before too long.

Speaking of characters, put 'em here... The Rap Sheets

And for outta character... Behind The Masks

An IC thread will prolly be up this evening.
