In a world not unlike what we've seen in comic books and movies, heroes and villains arose. And while their powers were great, time waits for no one. Years passed and new heroes took up the mantles of their elders. But they were not the only ones...

So I had an idea inspired by two Marvel teams, the Bastards of Evil and the Young Masters. A group of young (18 and up) villains and anti-heroes either descended from or ripping off older villains and anti-heroes. Not really a formal team but more like a group of casual acquaintances, living in the modern world while the iconic Marvels we know and love appeared a couple decades ago. So now it's our bad apples times to shine.

I'm thinking this'll be a freeform semi-sandbox, letting the characters get up to no good on their own with maybe some nudges from yours truly. Perhaps a big storyline later on once things get established. Characters can be canon next-gen nogoodniks or original creations, although they should have some connection with the established Marvel Universe. Feel free to tweak backgrounds and continuity, bring in movie and TV stuff if you want. World-building is fun! One location will be Club Fenris owned by the Strucker Twins where we can get together. I'm planning on being an adult Ana Kravinoff so if you were thinking about that neener neener neener I already called dibs.

Recruitment is now open. Please post sheets here.

Fox Force Assemble!

Yes, I've a heckin' big interest in this, with an idea I've had cooking in my brain for a while. So if goes forward, bagsy on a Hammer (Justine, Sasha, or whomever) and a stolen War Machine schematic. Sort of MCU-ish inspired, after all Justin DID have a lot of access to that gizmo.

Vergil Tanner

Ooooh, I like this idea. I have a lass in mind who's the daughter of Black Cat. A legacy lass, if you will, who continues her thieving ways! Sometimes she helps the good guys (for a price) and sometimes, she's a very bad girl. ;)

So yeah, dibs on the daughter of Black Cat and Flash Thompson :P

Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by that of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion. Therefore it is unnecessary to have all the qualities I have enumerated, but it is very necessary to appear to have them. And I shall dare to say this also, that to have them and always observe them is injurious, and that to appear to have them is useful; to appear merciful, faithful, humane, religious, upright, and be so, but with a mind so framed that should you require not to be so, you may be able and know how to change to the opposite.

Sounds fun... And here I just was messing with an idea of a blue skinned shapeshifter with red hair and amber eyes.. Did I mention he has his father's temperament and his father's 6, 12" long claws as well... Just call him Raze Darkholme...

Callie Del Noire

Thinking of a mastermind/con artist type. A half-Asgardian by the name of Lana Laufrey. Downplays her physical abilities, dabbles in magic and is a huge con artist/grifter type.

Oooooh, man. This has definitely piqued both my interest and my curiosity, now I just need to settle on a concept.

I can already see the potential for an awesome Leverage-esque crew.
Ana Kravinoff - Hitter/Muscle
Hammer - Hacker/Techie
Black Cat - Thief
Lana Laufrey (Lokisdottir?) - Grifter/Mastermind

With Raze somewhere between hitter and grifter?

Right now, at least, I'm taking a shine to the idea of an imperfect clone of a villain or hero (or hybrid of two individuals) that's discovered, either by an NPC mentor or preferably by a PC or a group of PCs. Somewhat inspired by Superboy in terms of origin story. Now to decide on what villain or hero the clone would be of...

If anyone has any particular faves they'd like to float to me, hit me up!

Vergil Tanner

I'll be straight with you, when I read "Hitter" in your post, I legitimately misread it as "Hitler" first time round. >.>

I should go to bed. xD

I'd like to mark interest here. I have a top of the head idea that I admit was inspired by seeing Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes on Disney+.

I have a vague idea for a daughter of Amora, the Enchantress. Amora (through means of sorcery) managed to temporarily land Thor and got pregnant with his daughter. Naturally, the Avengers came along and freed their teammate, but the damage was done. Amora raised Kaia in secret, to be her weapon in her plots, but Kaia is a teen now and rebellious. She inherited weather-control powers from her father, but her mother's beauty. She's not as skilled with either as her parents, but she's willing to stretch herself and likes to get into trouble just to tweak her parents' noses. She's easily led into trouble by her cousin Lana. :) I don't know that she's a supervillain so much as she's tired of being told what to do and is acting out in rebellion/experimenting with the dark side.

How does that sound?

Callie Del Noire

How dark is this going to be?

Ie...
Just kids flexing their muscles to The next gen of baddies killing their way around the globe?

Foxy DeVille

Wow! Loving all the interest and ideas already. Makes me giddy.

Good question. I'm sorta playing it by ear, seeing what people come up with. I'd actually like to see characters with different levels of darkness and how they interact. Like say two characters go on a heist together and one uses lethal force the other thinks was unnecessary, that could make for some interesting tension. Or a rookie super goes along with a group and slowly feels like he's getting in over his. One thing that keeps popping into my head is the fourth season of  The Wire. You had someone like the son of a respected enforcer who talked a big game but was soft while another kid just wanted to tale care of his baby brother and got deeper into the drug scene. So I figure the Young Bastards are all figuring out how to live in this world they've been born into. For instance, family honor is a big deal to Ana Kravinoff so she's all in on the life while someone else might just wanna go to the club impress people by having an infamous parent. The Young Bastards aren't a team, some might not even be friends, but they all have a legacy to deal with.

Empyrean

That makes sense. I see Kaia as having picked up all the bad girl mannerisms of her mother, but having no experience actually applying them. So she's more awkward and adorkable than evil and cruel. And she's heard enough of her noble father to rebel against her mother by trying to ape some of his mannerisms, though not very well. She's pretty much at the phase where she could go either way, and she's trying to find out who she is, independent of Amora's plotting.

Which is probably why she trusts her cousin Lana so much. Lana is family, and she figures if anyone could understand having a legacy to live up to, it's Loki's daughter. :)

Figure that Lana was born on Earth (Midguard) unaware of her parentage till something came up? (Her cousin Kala?) but she is aware of her abilities (she's half giant/asgardian, so she's mostly bullet proof, long lives, and given her father she's most likely dabbled in magic)

Kala could be easily the one that shows up to explain who she really is.. her mother having never told her about Loki

Empyrean

That would be an interesting take. Kaia runs from her controlling mother to a cousin she only knows of through rumor, and then realizes that Lana doesn't anything about her legacy. :)

Hence her family name being Laufey and not Lokisdottir.

I am interested in this, I am leaning to this pairing; Carnage (Cletus Kasady host) x Demogoblin (a.c.a Demagoblin, possessing Shriek). The deal being after events of Absolute Carnage Demagoblin discovered being pregnant, and thus by religious fanatism viewed child as innocent to sins if any both by her and father, then birthed and gave the child away to Christian foster home. Upbringing strictly religious and disciplined, but not violent and nun who raised kids was nice (priest other hand was a mean man and boy always instinctively felt he was evil albeit had no proof).

The Spawning had occurred (initiated by Toxin), the seeds of symbiots had spread all over US (as preparation against invasion by Knull). However, most were and are dormant. One happened to be stuck in church dusty interior roof structure, the same church where orphans raised by foster home hold choir matches. The young offspring of perhaps most twisted pair then witnessed the wickedness of the priest, when he snuck on him on molesting one younger kids from a foster home. He was caught as well and the priest did not want to be found or caught decided to kill the boy, in that moment genetic heritage of Shriek manifested as he was shot upon, then shriek caused symbiote fall from roof and land upon him and form an immediate symbiosis in response to an emergency on his body (being bled to death).

In reflex, young man slew the priest and appeared as 'demon' and the victim screamed and ran, then believing himself damned for killing priest in church then left and started try 'figure things out' by himself and telepathically commune with his symbiote and learn to know it. Thanks, genetic memory he was given a hell of a genetic history lesson about Carnage and his parentage as well (and how twisted and fuck up it is). He has decided become a vigilante calling himself White Devil, or Blanco Diablo to spanish (he grew up in spanish/mexico area). His first big hits were on drug cartels, taking their drug money and giving to poor, but then seeing it did not help or made situations lot worse (kind people corrupted by wealth and money) he stopped doing it. Eventually his role as jury, judge and executioner got caught wind by some superhero kids and he got become wanted criminal then (and more so battles, where he acts on symbiotic instinct as he has no actual combat experience, led to massive casualties and property destruction).

More so he could not control his own aura or ability which makes people manifest their worst traits in an extreme way (and most likely resulted priest who lusted some young women to turn upon them in a foster home). Annoyance; bloodthirsty rage, lust; rapes, greed; robberies/murder.

Above is concept; sort anti-hero who is still learning ropes of his powers which part of the learning process has made some big mistakes. He also has lots to deal with what comes to his legacy and what his parents are/were.

JamieHasGame

would it be possible to use a genderbent DC canon as an OC? if not that is understandable. thanks for your time either way.

Kadigan

So, talked with the Foxy Face and revamping my idea a bit. I've got two ideas. One is an up-cycle of a character I've used before, a daughter of one of the evil Captain America's (probably Hydra version) or a sort of Winter Soldier descendant with a touch of Rose Wilson sort of themes in there.

Any thoughts?

Well, that would be from completely different universe so I'm not sure how that would work. You could change up the background to fit into the Marvel Universe if you don't have your heart set on playing the character as is.

Zaer Darkwail

There are a multitude of alternative universes, just need valid reason why that 'variant universe' hero/heroine is in main one.

Well, and legacies is a theme of the game and if someone plops in with no connection that would be missing out on some stuff.

Callie Del Noire

So post the bio here or PM it to you Foxy?

Vergil Tanner

I'm assuming that a bio template will come with the eventual Recruitment Thread, no?

As for my character, she'll be the daughter of Felicia Hardy and Flash Thompson. I'm thinking that she walks that Anti-Villain / Anti-Hero line, where she - much like her mother in most of her incarnations - didn't enjoy hurting people and much preferred to get in and out without anybody knowing that she was there. My thoughts are that Felicia retired from burgling when she had her daughter, and they were a happy family for a while until Flash got ill. He's still kicking about, but America being America, the medical bills ain't nothing to scoff at, so Felicity [Working Name], who was at the time a bit of a rebellious delinquent, figured that stealing was the only thing she was halfway decent at, so that's what she should do. So most of her thefts are either to put food on her table, or to support her fathers medical bills. She doesn't really care how she gets the money, which is why she's also a mercenary for various villains, but there are some lines that she won't cross (EG, killing or hurting children).

I'm thinking that she's also possibly a Mutant of some kind, perhaps inherited from her mother from when she had powers. But I'll have to think about that.

Sidenote, I'm putting dibs on Ekaterina Koba as my FC. :P
