The Twin Kingdoms of Zagzys and Bergovia
The Twin Kingdoms of Zagzys and Bergovia is a game using a variation of the First Edition rules of dungeons and dragons. It is set in the twin kingdoms, which exist in relative isolation on the continent of Concordia, in the mystical land of Iaraph. The kingdoms are feudal states with an intense rivalry, with a serious need for adventurers.
The game has two tiers. One of mid level adventurers, making their way in the world, and high level adventurer-lords, seeking to rule their kingdoms. Much of the game is about the interplay between these two levels, and the threats that emerge in the twin kingdoms.

Zagzys: The Northern kingdom of Zagzys is a heriditary monarchy, ruled by the Zagzyian dynasty of mage kings for over 400 years. Zagzys is friendly to the ide of magocracy. The capital of Zagzys is Zagzys Tower, a city of 85,000 where the king (Magic-User/15) holds court in a 500 foot tall mage tower. There are 7 Royal manors and townships in Zagzys, as well as a number of independently run cities.
Bergovia: The Sourthern kingdom of Bergovia is a mixed monarchy, where the king is expected to abdicate on death, and the fuedal lords elect a new king, with votes weighted by population. This has failed to happen several times in the history of Bergovia, but the tradition is firmly entrenched. The elderly King Linus (Fighter/12) rules over Bergovia with a weak hand from the city of Bustlehold, letting his henchmen-lords do the work for him. There are 9 royal strongholds in Bergovia, plus a number of independently run cities.
Falock River: The Falock river is a navigable river that defines the border between Zagzys and Bergovia. It is vast, and full of fish, acting as a conduit for both trade and piracy. Many of the wealthiest towns of Concordia lie on the Falock, and it is a constant source of adventure.
Razor Jungle: Razor jungle forms the south of Concordia, and it is an intensely hostile place. Adventurers have tried for years to harvest the valuable ironwood trees and exotic fruits of the region, but have always been prevented from doing so by mass attacks from lizardmen and the sheer hostility of the environment itself. Deep in the jungle, cyclopean ruins hold secrets of a forgotten age, perhaps even the secrets of the gods themselves.
The Sea of Tentacles: The sea of tentacles is so named for the extremely large populations of octopi on the sea. There are a number of islands dotting the sea, arranged into a loose confederation. The confederation holds piracy and the worship of Cthulhu as their sacred rights, and launch frequent invasions of the rest of Concordia even as they succumb to the Innsmouth Look.
The Stained Desert: The stained desert is a vast sandy region with incredibly large plains of grass distributed throughout it almost at random. Some sages speculate that the entire region is actually some kind of gigantic lens, and that if the sand was all scraped off, it would do something magical. A number of Orc tribes live in the desert, and guard the routes to their secret oasises jealously. Only the Orcs know what lies on the other side of the Stained Desert, and they view the land with an almost religious awe.
Tiam Mountains: The Tiam Mountains lie to the north of Zagzys, and are filled with dragon lairs. Red Dragons haunt the mountains, killing any travelers foolish enough to come into their territory. Goblins also house many clans here, along with the ogres and trolls. The Tiam Mountains have more entrances to the underhome than any other region of Concordia, leading to more than a few intrepid Dwarf Fortresses working to harvest the region's ore.
The Underhome: The Underhome is a vast cavern beneath Concordia. It seems to go down to the very core of the world, and houses a great many races. The Dwarves are the most notable race of the Underhome, but Drow are also a signifigant presence in the top layers, as are Deep Ones in the vaulted seas. The lower one goes in the underhome, the stranger the creatures become, including the horrible Shoggoths, and the hideous creatures known as the Dark Young. Demons and other ancient evils are imprisoned in many lonely caverns, just waiting to be accidentally excavated.
