What about him is suited to this House: He sees the world as a bunch of ingredients he can use for his own end. He sees every other living being as fuel for his escalation to power, or his amusement.
How did he react at sorting? He felt a modicum of pleasure since Slytherin people appear to him to be the easiest ones to deal with. In truth, he didn't care much with house ended into since he sees all of Hogwarts' factions as flawed.

Personality: To sum up Phobos McDibble in one word, we could certainly use "self-centered". While he hides his true self behind a well mannered mask and can be extremely charming if needed, the truth is that he is sadly lacking when it comes to empathize with others and his universe revolves basically around himself. He tends to interact basically only with people that interest or amuse him for any reason and his mental attitude, especially in the latter case, is that of the entomologist studying some newly discovered insect.
He loves to assess his superiority.. plainly over those he deems weaker and more subtly over those who can be dangerous. His harsh upbringing had taught him the advantage of prudence but this does not mean that he is a coward. On the contrary, he can be quite ruthless and totally devoid of any kind of qualms if the situation calls for it.
A little Deeper:
Phobos McDibble is the offspring of Tysiphon McDibble and Seamus Cathal Connolly, eldest son to Torin Ceallach Connolly and Birdie Una MacKay. How the fling between the Connolly elder son and the only daughter of Polifemus McDibble actually happened is not widely known since neither of the parts willingly talks about it. What is known is that while Seamus didn't recognize officially his son, he unofficially confirmed his paternity so to allow Phobos to keep his pureblood status. Again, the reasons for which the man choose to step away from his son and his mother are not public domain but in the inner circles of those in the know it is whispered that Seamus Cathal Connolly backed away because the slightly deranged Tysiphon McDibble made him feel extremely uneasy.
Phobos took the McDibble name and grew up with his mother. While Tysiphon's influence had certainly had a part in the boy's development it is also true that he was already the kind of child who would rip off the wings from butterflies in order to see them writhe. He sees muggles as little more than cattle and muggleborns and half blood as naturally inferior to purebloods although observation and experience had taught him not to underestimate them. The only muggle thing he really appreciates are knives, daggers and clasp knives of which he owns a nice collection.
He got to know the rest of his family, especially his older cousin Deimos but also the younger Andrew for the first time in JWA. While Deimos got filed immediately as self deluded due to his noble attitude, Andrew actually awoke Phobos' curiosity given the fact that he was apparently the one destined to take control of the McDibble clan. Phobos finds Andrew amusing and for this reason does not try to avoid his company.
Phobos McDibble had been one of the very few students of Hogwarts that managed to stay in decent terms with Serena Shalamane which said a lot about him.. and actually which made him someone people preferred not to cross. Phobos was in the Entrance Hall when Sorensen downed her sister. He had been seen shake his head and smirk a little at the scene, before turning on his heels and moving away.
