Gomorra's Main Mesa BALLOT BOULEVARD The Ballot Boulevard runs from the town square to Sweetrock's mesa, bisecting between the quiet residential neighborhood to the southwest, and the largely business-oriented area to the north and east. Law offices, assayers, warehouses, telegraph and pony express offices - as well as most of the government buildings not cloistered around the town square - are all built off Ballot Boulevard. The area is second only to the wealthier area between The Tracks and The Line for cleanliness and wealth, although there is a lack of residences of any kind. This area is usually a high priority for the Law Dogs to keep safe and well patrolled. BALLOT BOULEVARD ATTRACTIONS Bankum & Bankum, Attorneys Owner: Sweetrock Mining Company Operator: Maxwell Bankum and Gideon Bankum Range of Quality: Extraordinary Description: If you are in need of a great attorney, Bankum and Bankum is the way to go. As long as you don't mind working with Sweetrock Mining Company or aren't one of their enemies. The attorneys office is pristine and has a great reputation for being able to assist their clients in any matter. Their prices, at least the ones that can be paid for in hard coin, are expensive. A bit out of range for the common folk but they are known to be swayed to help out for a much lesser fee for a good cause. Burnham Detection Agency** Owner: Avery Burnham Operator: Avery Burnham Range of Quality: A matter of opinion. Description: The Burnham Independent Detection and Security Agency is a small office space located on Gomorra's main drag, formerly home to a defunct doctor's practice. It offers discrete services for those seeking private assistance with matters involving: theft, personal security, missing persons, information retrieval, business security, and 'misc. services'. Fee charged by the day and negotiated at time of employment. The office itself is split into three sections, the first an open waiting room with several chairs and a bench placed against the wall. A few old newspapers and a Sears & Roebucks catalogue have been arranged on a small coffee table for clients' entertainment. Despite some dust and a general look of disuse, it is fairly clean overall. A small tasteful photograph of the queen has been hung on the wall across the entry as the only decoration besides the fresh wallpaper. The second room houses the office proper which contains a large mahogany desk with two chairs placed before it for seating potential clients. The walls showcase a collection of framed news articles from England, the proprietor's homeland, in which he was apparently singled out for praise by his former employers at Scotland Yard. Behind the desk is a small bookshelf next to the window, containing several leather-backed volumes ranging from Bouvier's Law Dictionary to a book of English poetry. A shaggy buffalo head hangs on the wall directly across from the desk with a Sharp's 50 rifle mounted below it. The final room is a private area containing a small cot and various sundries belonging to the owner, and smelling vaguely of thirty-year old bachelor. Davis & Associates, Accounting Firm Owner: Theodore Davis Operator: Theodore Davis, Michael Brown, Samantha Tyre, plus several apprentices Range of Quality: El Cheapo - Extraordinary Description: Theodore has a soft spot for those down on their luck that are willing to work hard and learn new skills. As he is the only accounting office in Gomorra, he has a long client list and is one of the very few businesses that is spared from the in-fighting between the factions. He has an incredible knack for picking bright minds that just need a little training to help at the office and, unlike many other businesses, he does not cater to the prejudices and sexism of the people. His office is large and has several smaller offices within. His office works on accounting matters for anyone interested – whether it's personal accounting or business accounting. The larger assets are handled by himself or one of his most experienced personnel. The smaller assets are handled often times by his apprentices but he oversees their work. Dispatch Office - WIP WORK IN PROGRESS Owner: Operator: Range of Quality: Description: The Docks - WIP WORK IN PROGRESS Owner: Operator: Range of Quality: Description: Exchange Office - WIP WORK IN PROGRESS Owner: Operator: Range of Quality: Description: The Gilded Feather Owner: Arthur Hays Operator: Arthur Hays Quality: Fine Description: Designed in a somewhat ostentatious French theme, the Gilded Feather is run by someone who clearly doesn't understand a word of French. While the 'Mademoiselles ' are quite beautiful, most don't speak a word of English, either, or at least pretend ignorance while at the Feather. The Feather desperately wants to be Miss Greene's Room, but it lacks sophistication, charm, and discretion. Instead, it tends to attract nouveau riche miners and businessmen who are drawn in by the show of art and sculpture.
