Guys and Dolls: A Mob Story

New York has seen more than its share of gangs. They range from ones that control street corners and city blocks, to ones that own a quarter of the entire city. There is a always a constant struggle for more power. Mob families fight turf wars over parts of the city to control property, business, and drug and weapon trades. Each new day brings new toils and betrayals in crime and vice. People are used, killed, covered up, and exploited to no end, caught between the sights of opposing sides, though that's not to say the innocent aren't targeted intentionally. In the city, the strong prey on the weak.

This is a story of the day to day life on the streets of New York, into the two-sided crime and glamour of organized crime. What happens when a store owner doesn't pay his protection money? What about the good cop who decides to ignore his crooked chief's orders, or the hooker that spills the beans to a nosy reporter?

Players Wanted
Nearly any position is open: mob bosses, hitmen, associates, sidekicks, prostitutes, strippers, soldiers, cops, lawyers, reporters, business men/women...you name it, you can play it. Positions will be available even once the game begins. There are a lot of people in New York influenced by the mobs...

OOC Details (OOC Thread)

With the trailer of sorts out of the way, here are some of the more finer requirements:

Literacy. Proper spelling punctuation, dialogue, and structure.
Effort. I would like to see people enjoy this roleplay and put some good thought into the story. I'm not going to turn away people based on this, but I ask that you at least consider my request.
Since this game (I'm hoping!) will be considerably large, opinions must be respected. If kinks clash or do not mix, agreements and compromises must be made. As a free form game, I'm sure this won't be difficult.
There are no set kinks, though I personally would like to get a nice mix of sub and dom characters. Story threads must be placed in their correct areas to comply with Elliquiy rules. If you are unsure if a thread will go that far, best to be safe than sorry, and we can always move the thread.
COMMITMENT. If you are unable to commit to the game, look elsewhere. Since multiple people are playing, even one person up and leaving can damage the role play considerably, maybe even stop it altogether.

Once again, there are no set kinks. The only requirement is that you respect the others' desires as well. This is free-form, so the story is built by us for whatever we feel like, and always changing to accept newcomers, obstacles, or other little trials we may encounter. We could start with a simple shake-down that turns into something a little more dangerous, or a bribery with sexy results. I'm also aware this isn't the only mob-esque game out there. I'm not intending to replicate or steal ideas; I'm only attempting to role play something that suddenly seems very intriguing.

I will be posting my character profile as a young, female Mafia boss, but other positions of leadership will be open as well. We could introduce a rival Mafia family or members, as well as city officials and the like.

The Gizeni family is suspected of

Kidnapping
Brainwashing
Selective Breeding of people
Owning and running of Unethical Reproduction Clinics
Bribery
Blackmail
People smuggling
Forgery (specializing in visa/passport/ birth certificates).

Although there is evidence everywhere of these things, cases are dropped quickly as witnesses and prosecution quickly become bribed beyond their means to care for the case progressing.

Role:

The Gizeni family specializes in selective breeding of people to perfectly cater for exotic sexual needs of the rich and powerful. Regardless of race or gender this family sees everyone who is beautiful or has sexual characteristics over and above the average as cattle to be experimented with and bred - such that specialized linages emerge. Many pornstar "freaks"come from this families doings and heather plans more to come, however linages specializing in beauty or other exaggerated virtues also fetch handsome prices.

Personality:

Heather is business savvy and highly decadent. Being involved in the creation of people suited for extreme kinks has seemed to rub off on her family, most are considered highly perverted by other families standards, and the butt of their jokes when sexual jibes are prevalent.

Her sharp tongue is quick and often used before thinking which has caused considerable tension with others in the past.

History:

Uncharacteristically for Italian families, Heather is the head of the family business, which does a cause quips she returns with suggestions of the kinks she suspects others annoying her have.

On a few occasions she has insulted more powerful mob families to a point they seriously considered being rid of the "perverted Gizeni's" for good.

Its been three years since this tragedy was avoided (mainly by the other families deciding to let the past slide) but memories between the families last a long time and the Gizeni's do fear being isolated.

Heather seeks to repair damage and tension she has personally caused with other families but currently doesn't really know the best approach.

Hello everyone! It seems that I'm coming into things a bit late and will need to catch up on the going's on, but I'm wondering if there's room for another character to enter the mix? I wouldn't want to throw up anything too concrete until I know which toes not to step on and what niche might need filling, but I was thinking something along the lines of a "Cleaner". Essentially, someone who makes sure that incriminating evidence and unsightly corpses "disappear". Perhaps they've even got a bit of a tasted for hired killing work from time to time.

Unless there's a more specific role that is in high demand?

The role definitely fits. The only thing is that you should give them another purpose as well, since we're not sure how many bodies we'll be needing to get rid of. We're working on one story arc that will involve that, but beyond that, I'm not sure.

I also included things like evidence in the event that the body count is not going to be skyrocketing (vehicles, drugs, living people). Basically, he'd be the "go-to" guy of the city if you want something gone without a trace.

That being said, it also stands to reason that a man that can make things disappear would also have a knack for finding things. That entails a more subtle approach and connections that an average hired gun may not exactly have access to. The character I'm envisioning is the sort of individual that knows the city like the back of his hand, including the parts of it that even criminals probably wouldn't know off the top of their head. In so many words, an information broker. I imagine for that sort of character to work the other players might need to relay pertinent information to me over PMs, so that I'm aware of the sort of dirt a man with slippery fingers might be able to scrounge up.

He could also play the role of a sort of enigmatic neutral party, buying, selling, and stealing information from all sides for his own personal gain and owing loyalties to no one. Would that sort of character be alright with the rest of the group, or would it be too intrusive?

That might make for a very interesting addition. My own character is an information broker, so knowing a reporter that could be fed certain interesting leads might create some intriguing twists and turns for the story later on down the line.
