Bits?
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:08:44 AM »
Which is another name for...? Breasts I thought, but not finding a definition, slang or otherwise. It more of UK/British idiom isn't it? Would it be out of place in a more ancient historical setting? Thanks

I have heard of the term, but 'bits' is generally an euphemism for male or female genitals in general.

'Bits' I would say is very modern and refers to the female genitals. I know its British slang, but have no idea if it's used elsewhere where English is spoken.

Typically short for 'naughty bits', and I've heard it used for both males and females - although since there are more slang terms for male parts, it's more frequently used for female parts.

I've heard it from both, Brits and not. Hell, some of my US friends use it as well. :-)

Typically short for 'naughty bits'.
In that case I would think it stems from Monty Python where that phrase was one of their ways to be rude without being rude back on 1970s British TV.
