She smirked and he could hear it. "I guess it is."

[Starfox]

"Expect me to arrive at your place soon then." Darren hung up.

[darkvamplips]

She said goodbye and then hung up. She made her way to the couch to wait.

[Starfox]

It did not take long until the doorbell rang. She had not heard any car driving up to the house though - or driving by. Nor any carlights flashing. Complete silence, almost complete darkness, until the doorbell rang. Even the automatic lights at the door seemed to have come on after the bell had rung, but that must have been an illusion.

Because there was no car sounds or lights she thought he must have lived not far from her. Which is a good thing if she ever need help she would be able to call. She looked a mess like she had not done anything for herself since her brother died. Slowly she made her way to the door and opened it.

Darren was a tall, not overly muscled, man. About twenty she'd guess, until she met his eyes - those were older, somehow. He was wearing a white shirt - not a t-shirt - and black jeans. Very clean. Midlong hair, black, so black it was hard to spot where it ended and the nightsky began.

He looked down at her, literally, and there was a faint amused smirk on his lips when he took in her slightly frumpy appearance. "I hope I did not wake you up."

She took a few moments to take in all his looks and what the first impression was. He must be somewhat of a good person since her brother had been hanging around with him a bit. "Oh yeah you did." She said sarcastically and jokingly. She moved aside wishing she had cleaned up and locked the door behind him.

"Aha." Darren sounded serious, as if he believed her. Only his eyes twinkled. "May I enter?" His question was almost rhethorical, yet he waited for her explicite permission before setting a foot inside her house.

"Go ahead." She said turning around and gave him a smile wondering if she should go have a shower or something. Or at least go clean up a bit.

[Starfox]

Darren stepped inside, looking around without trying to hide it. A slight rise of his eyebrows was the only indication that he spotted what had not been fixed since that night. "You live alone." A statement, not a question. "Is it prudent to let strangers in your house?"

"Well I'm guessing since you were hanging with my brother something must be right with you. He had a good sense of people." She blushed slightly sitting down on the couch waiting for him to come in.

[Starfox]

"Are you sure? He was a bit... erratic lately, wasn't he?" Darren stepped inside, his presence filling the room. He didn't seem to be bothered by a lack of light in some corners, his gaze moving over the room without any wavering.

"Well are you a good person or not?" She watched him move around the house wondering what he was getting at.

[Starfox]

"How you define "good"? I can tell you that I wish you no harm. But I am sure some might not consider me a good person." Darren shrugged in a somewhat gaelic way, his mannerisms at odds with his english, which was devoid of an accent.

"Well why don't you explain what you meant?" Did she make a mistake inviting him over? This was the first time in like 2 weeks where she had talked to anything.

[Starfox]

Darren stepped closer to her, his shoes made almost no sound on the floor. Flashing a smile he explained "I can be very bad to someone who wants to hurt me and mine. As, I think could you."

"Yeah but I'm not wanting to hurt you." She said looking up realizing he was so close but she had not heard any movement.

(Is he a vampire? He would make a good vampire)

[Starfox]

"I haven't done anything to you either." Darren looked down at her, and smiled. "Apart from a bit of flirting. I trust you do not consider that inappropriate."

(I do hope he'll make a good vampire)

She shook her head and smiled again. "Not at all." It was nice having someone in the house for once.

[Starfox]

"Very well." Darren nodded, a bit strangely - it seemed to have started as a short bow, but interrupted right afterwards. He walked to the not quite totally fixed door to the garden, looking out into the darkness, then turned around and she suddenly felt she was the center of his attention when he adressed her "You wanted to ask me about your brother."

She never mentioned anything about wanting to know about her brother but shrugged it off. "Yeah I do." She said watching him come over. "Is there anything I should know?"

[Starfox]

"Hm." He said something in latin - "de mortui nihil nisi bene" - with a slightly cynical smile, then asked back "Is there anything you want to know?" is eyes met her when he said "you want", and the tone of his voice hinted at something more than the simple question, or even the way it emphasized how she mattered.

She could not ignore the tone in his voice as it seemed he was hiding something. Even though she felt that she felt safe around him. "What kind of friendship did you two have?"

[Starfox]

"We have, had, some common interests, though at times we disagreed a lot about certain things - or people." Darren paused a bit, his eyes meeting hers. "But we have had more in common than disagreements - more common interests, so to speak, than he liked." He sat down not quite near her, but not opposite her either, and managed to make it appear both elegant and graceful as well as comfortable and at ease, like a cat settling down on a perch. Nothing like her brother's way of letting himself fall into a seat or on the couch.

The motion that he used to sit made her feel very comfortable for some reason like he was almost protecting her or could. "What did you two normally do together?" She asked leaning her head against the back of the couch and watching him with bright blue eyes.
