You could've done so much more than this. Cooking, cleaning, looking after him, and avoiding falling with child during all of your years together. He seemed much too distracted to care anyway, what with the bank and all. That gave you plenty of time to act out the life you could've had, until he got home. He hit you sometimes, but never hard enough that you couldn't hide it with makeup. Sometimes you found yourself liking it and it seemed strange. What was it about pain that was loving? What was it about his pain that you decided to take to someone else?

You knew you could never fit into the rigid schema of the men your age. You always knew you were an artistic soul, though you never did enter the painting or music industry; perhaps the pay turned you off. You liked to create things, and so you did; your gadgets helped underage people get a pass at the bar, old men and women turn each other on with a snort of this or puff of that, and a strange fella - foreign if you didn't know better - get a brand new I.D. You had to help yourself once in a while, which you did whenever you met up with her. You knew you liked her at the very least.

I know things, like I'm expected to. She doesn't. She doesn't know we're knee-deep in debt and I need to amend it. I need things to look perfect so I don't worry her, for any deviation of routine would surely awaken suspicion. I'm going to tell her we're going away, tell her I got a new job in New York - Wall Street! That'll please her, won't it? - and that our life can finally afford a child. I have to prepare my identification - I know a guy, he got it for me - and then I'll be your average John Q. Taxpayer, the man with the key to the vault: the man about to borrow a fortune.

Welcome to my 1940s/50s criminal love triangle scenario.

Synopsis: MC and YC are married. External circumstances drive them apart, so YC turns to YYC to play out the fantasies which are planted back home. MC, occupied by worry and a compulsory Christian duty, feels he must act like a man and so plans to 'borrow' some money from the bank. Struck by impulse, one evening he gets caught with 700 dollars and rushes back home to get himself and YC on the road - only to see her with YYC. Panic strikes our muses and they get out of there, but the car ride will be long and everybody has some explaining to do.

This is very much a story of criminal adventures, confessions, strange relations to religion and a triangle dynamic that'll spark jealousy and contempt at first, but later carelessness and indulgence. Based on the synopsis I have made, there will be room for background characters/double-ups, serious moral dilemmas, unique views on pain and pleasure, as well as homosexual action (I wish that everybody is involved with each other). I want to play around with the Bonnie/Clyde/Hyde idea, constantly on the run and everybody dealing with it in their own way and dissolving past expectations of themselves. I want it to be both silly and serious, with spicy and psychological triangle scenes later up. The story could either take place at the beginning of YC's love affair with YYC; the day YC and MC move to New York; or the day MC comes home with the 700 dollars as seen in the synopsis. Some benefits to the former options include character development and focus on YC + YYC, but I'd like to discuss this with my partners and see what they feel like doing.

If interested, kindly comment a kind of character sheet for whoever you plan to play (the wife or the lover). Some things to include might be age and other basic information, appearance, personality, backstory or trivia. Feel free to check out my character below. Do note our characters should be between 21-35 years old. The sheet doesn't have to be detailed as long as you're prepared to develop your character in the story as character development will be central and not something to gloss over. The descriptions in the teaser are in no way set in stone, though I'd like to keep close to the general premise. I haven't yet thought of how MC and YC met or married, so that's a thing we could delve deeper into if we wish.

There will be an OOC thread for us three to talk of eventual absences, which one of us to reply first if all characters are involved, to what extent we can control each other's characters in brief moments, and so on. Though no posting rate is established, I prefer writing with people who are slow writers like myself; I adore savouring each message and longing for the next. As I have projects to do in my life, I easily feel stressed out if the replies arrive too quickly. This does not apply if MC isn't involved! Feel free to post as much as you like when I'm not involved.

Before all else: read 'My Thread' to make sure we're compatible!

To summarise:
  • Spelling, grammar, punctuation, and paragraphs is important to me.
  • Open communication, semi-regular check-ins. Weekly- to bi-weekly- to monthly responses, depending on pacing.
  • Multidimensional characters; give them quirks and be creative within the realm of realism.
  • Gradual development driven by conflicts, values, dilemmas, and internal thoughts.

Now, feel free to post a thought or a character sheet. (8

Richard "Rickie" Nicholson
32 years old
Born in North Dakota, moved to Ohio
6'4" tall, about ~190lbs, dark brown eyes
Team manager and overseer of the investment banking department

Growing up as the youngest sibling of 6, Richard was often treated as a child and people's lacking expectations for him collided with his parents' fervent wish for him to grow up to become a dutiful, leading man in the church. He developed a need to impress others and himself, thereby living by his own ideal expectations. He developed kleptomaniacal tendencies as a mechanism to cope with the poor conditions under which he was raised that constantly threatened scarcity. This has become a cause of shame for him that he hasn't explicitly told YC about. He struggles to balance between imperfection and perfection, often resulting in impulsive fits of violence as an outlet for his emotions. Other than busying himself with work, he occasionally likes writing short stories (some of which include erotic elements and romantic depictions of his wife) and woodworking.

This is partially inspired by Boardwalk Empire and Rain Man (remember the casino scene?).

I think this is a really, really cool set up and I will absolutely keep my eye on this. Unsure if I will have the time to dedicate to it, but if I do, I'll likely put forth something for the wife character. I mainly just wanted to say that this looks really awesome and I love the set up you've done for it so far!
