Ooooh Fairy Tales....

I've got a notion for a Pappa Bear character.

Dak 'Pops' Isbjørn. I'm thinking the owner of a small store at the edge of the woods selling equipment and stuff to campers and hikers and the like. He tries to warn folk off of heading into those woods, but those who buy from his shop report spotting a massive bear who appears to follow them, never getting close, like it's watching over them.

I'm fine with this idea. Keep in mind when you are designing this store, nobody in Darkwood is going to just be casually camping in the Dark Woods, they would generally know that it's way too dangerous. So anybody that is heading out would have an agenda, be it escaping the dark woods (impossible), or searching for something/one. Or they could be just crazy.

Again, not souring on your idea. Just wanted that to be kept in mind   ;D

For your consideration, lovely Blue.

The Baba Yaga - Moved to Approved Characters

Player name:Tinkertoy
Character Name:The Baba Yaga
Maiden: Aurelia Ustrashkin
Mother: Seren Ustrashkin
Crone: Esmeray Ustrashkin
Age: Timeless
Sexuality: Pansexual
Gender:Cisfemale
Fairytale: Slavic Folklore
Job/Career:Maiden: Dominatrix at The Tower
Mother: Hostess of Abyss
Crone: Guardian of the Waters of Life and Psychopomp

Personality: Though the Baba Yaga appears as three separate people, she is one in the same. Survival has made it that each visual representation presents differently not just in appearance but also in personality. At her core there are traits that each iteration holds that link them to others as sisters and to those in the know, the common threads that reveal her as one . Very few know her to her true depth, yet regardless of the face she wears, others can feel deceptively close to her.

adaptable | complex | confident | cunning | hypnotic | private | sadistic | skillful | stubborn

Maiden: Youthful and effervescent, Aurelia is the closest she gets to being sweet. Captivating and sensual, she is creative in the artistry of persuasion. Her position at The Tower allows her to flex her perverse brutality without getting her hands figuratively dirty, keeping her even tempered and delightful beyond the darkness of her dungeon.
Mother: Maternal and vibrant, Seren is the most bedazzling of the three. Passionate and intense, her role as hostess at Abyss has her name exactly where she wants it, on the lips of Darkwood’s hedonists and bon vivants. Devious in her means to ensure her independence and fuel her ambition, a certain degree of amorality lives side by side with an oddly nurturing demeanour that makes every soul that steps through the doors of the club feel like they truly cherished under “Mother’s” wing and ever watchful gaze.
Crone: Wise and elegant, Esmeray is the most poised of the trifecta. Sage-like and eloquent, she holds her position as the guardian to the Waters of Life and as a psychopomp ushering the dead to their afterlives with grace and capability. Thoughts, guidance,  solutions and judgement is spoken with a soft and lyrical voice that holds an unusual command. Gaining her tenebrous trust will reap great rewards of her protection and counsel but cross her and the length of her resourceful and malicious cruelty will be extended at the most inopportune moment.

Bio:
Life had been simple. The dark forests held a cornucopia that kept her fed and well supplied for her arcane arts, in return as her service as a guardian to The Waters of Life and a guide to usher the dead on to their afterlife.. A symbiosis with the other living beings in the woods had been achieved and great strides in her learning had given her governance over the magics her body was infused with. As with all good things, it wasn’t to last as the relentless sprawl of people began encroaching on the wild lands. At first it was weary and lost travellers, looking for aid or to extort. Few had been helped but more had been slaughtered for their disrespect and entitlement. Tales began to make their way back to populated areas and unwelcome visitors became more and more frequent. The hut would move, leaving one discovered site for new until the stories made it so the foolish actively sought her out, and usually found their untimely ends, souls kept in ceremonial jars for later consumption.

The push into her realm had come with raised farming tools and torches and baying cries of a unified religion that deemed a monster that could only be cleansed with fire and death. Fleeing on fowl’s legs, the hut had run day and night until it had found a new home after what felt like several rotations around the sun. The Darkwood held others much like herself, things that hid in darkness, things that housed notions and magics in their odd bodies. The avatar of Death had found her, recognising her as kin and establishing a cyclical relationship that saw through many iterations over many, many years. Much like her previous home, the Darkwood too grew but there was a place for her in its civilisation and wilderness. The great city offered opportunities she had never had the pleasure of before. Maiden, Mother and Crone all found separate lives with different rewards, challenges and experiences, making connections that had never been an option in her previous existence. She continues on, divided by three parts, living three lives in both the city and in the hut held high on avian legs. Her secret held by less fingers than there are on a solitary hand, there is only opportunity to grow, amass more power and indulge in all that existence has to offer.

Qualities/Faults:
Maiden, Mother, Crone - Is able to shift between three distinct appearances. Few are aware that the three are the same person with only Maleficent, Ursula, Gothel and Grayson being aware. The slipping between the forms has been a skill she’s held for untold years, making it relatively effortless and quick. No other forms can be taken besides the three different women at key stages of their lives.
I’ll Swallow Your Soul - With the role of psychopomp, she has something of a death sense that alerts her of someone being close to death and of the dead themselves. This ability ties directly into her obligation to guide the dead to their afterlives and to consume others who are deemed unworthy, to greatly boost her magical prowess. These consumed souls can be stored in ritually enchanted vessels that are kept securely hidden in her hut.
Near Indestructible - Not quite immortal but being a magical being who may or may not be one of the fae, the Baba Yaga has survived her exceedingly long life thanks in part to being near vulnerable to most physical damage.
The Old Hocus Pocus - A witch born and bread from birth and over the ties of time, the trifecta in one has a wealth of knowledge in the arcane. Most magic can be tapped into if she has the grimoire with the right potion, ritual or conjuration but her specialities lay in flight, involvement with the dead and nature magics.
Maiden, Mother, Crone - Each of the three appearances she holds are her true image. She has spent an vastly extended lifetime concealing the fact that she is three in one and works diligently to preserve that knowledge from others. Though there are a scant handful of those who are aware of her duality, she tends to keep most others at arms length in order to keep her secret safe.
True Faith - Repulsed by the blessing of someone with true faith, the denomination of the faith doesn’t matter but the pure belief is what carries the intent. Whether a person or an object has been blessed, she will become physically revolted by the item.being that has been blessed and will forcibly eject it from her presence if possible.
Bound by Purpose - With her roles as a psychopomp and guardian of The Waters of Life, she is entirely obligated to her duties. No call of the dead searching for their way to the afterlife can be ignored, similarly her duty to keep the source and distribution of The Waters of life secret and secure. Everything comes secondary to her position, even her own wants and needs.
A Grisly Reputation - the tales to frighten children into behaving were true. Baba Yaga developed a taste for flesh and that reputation has clung to her like blood soaked vestments. No other meat is sweeter and sometimes that craving gets to be too much and simply must be indulged.

Extra:
Waters of Life - Guardian of The Waters of Life that resurrect the dead. The waters have the ability to resurrect the dead but the effects on the living, in small quantities have been found to give a hallucinatory euphoria quite like anything else on the market. In higher doses it can make a subject more open to suggestion and manipulation whilst still being wrapped in a feeling of utter bliss. Currently finding its way into Darkwood via The Atlantic Lounge, most notably Abyss, small vials are sold for extortionate prices under the name ‘Rapture’ to those who can afford its heady price tag.
Iron Teeth -  Frightful and powerful, the cold iron of the teeth give her the ability to consume souls and a bite force that rivals an enraged alligator.
Mortar and Pestle - A vehicle that has the magical capability to fly, the mortar has been glamoured to appear as different vehicles for each persona. Aurelia, rides a pretty, powder blue bicycle complete with a woven basket brimming with perpetually fresh fruit and vibrant blossoms. Seren commutes a chic, mint green Vespa with glittering chrome and slick paint job , and  Esmeray is quite frequently spotted on silvery dappled mare with her mane braided with wildflowers appropriate for the season. The pestle, though mostly used as a wand in her craft, can also be utilised as a rather hand bludgeoning instrument.
Soulbound Skulls - The glowing skulls of unspecified origin or age that radiate the cold blue-green of soulfire. The Baba Yaga’s hut is surrounded by a fence with the skulls mounted on stakes to both illuminate and serve as warning. The soul within can be released to create a raging, all consuming fire or she can drain them to boost her magics.

Ons/Offs - Character:
Being a timeless being, the Baba Yaga has discovered many paths to pleasure. Little is off the table for the right person, with exception to scat and infantilism. For the player’s limits please refer to Tinker’s F-List. Please always ask first, especially if in doubt, consent is sexy.

I only wanna be your self-inflicted wound.
It sees you, baby. The friction between me and you.
Show me what makes you human, I'll show you vulnerable.
You bend, you break, you surrender and melt like solid gold.

Player name: Lady Lunarius
Character Name: Madame Gothel
Age: Time is a ridiculous concept.
Sexuality: Omnisexual
Gender: Cis-Female
Fairytale: Rapunzel
Job/Career: Tavern/Brothel Owner

Personality: Madame Gothel is easily described as a narcissist. She knows it, and so does everyone who comes in contact with her. Money talks, bullshit walks, and if you don't like it the orchard is down the road. Good luck, because she's friends with the owner. She has a knack for reading what you need and will easily send the right merchandise your way. Her patrons are taken care of with the utmost care so long as they respect what is hers. Her girls are her product and she doesn't like it when they are ill used. (That costs extra) A horrible flirt she enjoys the benefits of her ill gotten youth. Flaunting herself and her beauty for those to enjoy the view. Just don't mistake her for someone who is easily taken advantage of, or you'll regret it.

Narcissistic| Flirtatious| Vain |Charismatic | Energetic | Possessive | Ambitious | Protective

Bio:You take them in out of the kindness of your heart, raise them with the best of intentions and what do they do? Betray you. Break your heart. Turn their back on everything you ever wanted for them. The heartbreak is almost too much to bear really. Honestly, what else was there to do but ensure her safety. Men. They're wicked things, desperate to take what they want no matter the cost. At least this way. This way she's safer, under my guidance and my eye. Their lecherous ways contained to some extent and my youth...I mean my daughter is safe.

Life wasn't easy for Gothel, her parents were poor and had so little. She hated it. She knew she was meant for better things, more brilliant adventures. It started with a dress. Weeks of a budding friendship, and countless subtle guilt trips and the soft powder blue dress was hers. She met her first husband in that dress, and not long after he mysteriously died. His fortune kept her comfortable, and a few years later her second husband came into the picture. He too passed under strange circumstances, and again his fortune had made her comfortable.

Content, she settled into the life of a quiet widow. Enjoying the fruits of her labor. Quite literally and figuratively. Her vivacious garden was ripe with every vegetable and fruit you could imagine. Magical wards kept most pests out, with the exception of one particularly large rat. The moment he scaled the wall she knew it. Curiosity stopped her that first night from turning him into a garden spider. The second night however anger at his audacity had set in. He was caught and if it hadn't been for his wife having exactly what she wanted, he would have been quashed underfoot.

You know the rest. Well most of it. But that's a tale for another day. When that man found her and her precious daughter, she fled, taking Rapunzel and fleeing with haste as far aa her magics could take them. Of course when she stumbled upon Darkwood she fell in love with the ease in which it was to take their money. It began with Rapunzel, and slowly spread to other girls. Over the years the Tower has grown, not just in numbers but in size. Her magics extending and growing. Along with her garden, which many have joked she loves it far more than her own daughter.

Qualities/Faults:

Sweet Petal: Rapunzel is watched with a paranoid tenacity. As the secret of Gothels youth she gives off the aura of an overprotective mother and will often spy on her daughter though a looking glass.

Rotten Fruit: If Gothel goes for too long without seeing Rapunzel she begins to age. Slowly at first but the more days that go by the older she looks until she starts to resemble her dear friend Esmeray in age.

Mother Sing me a Song: Her magic is tied to her voice, the spoken word is her best gift and she likes to think she can talk her way out of any problem. Often she will sing to Rapunzel, and the magics cast surrounding her birth will often aid in restoring Gothels youth.

A Case of Laryngitis: If she can not speak, she can not cast. Simple. There is a power in words, she knows this and has held this secret close to her chest for centuries.

The Way to a Man's Heart: She is an adept cook, and even better at concocting poisons and potions. There are reasons she went through a few husbands, it was just a shame they can't appreciate a good poison like she can.

Perfection Takes Time: Her potions and poisons while potent take time. Which is why she often disappears for a week or two ever few weeks. She needs to focus her energies into her craft. It also depletes her youth, and the days after she can be found "doting" on her daughter. Almost apologetic for abandoning her for work.

Extra:
Magnificent Garden: Having to rebuild her garden it is protected now more than ever from prying eyes and eager thieves. Here she grows all of her herbs and plants for her potions and her joy. Not even Rapunzel knows of its existence.

Ons/Offs - Character:Gothel is known to enjoy a delicious tryst now and again. Even if nothing more becomes of it. She is quite flexible in her tastes, though she does ask that anything that belongs in the bathroom stays in the bathroom. Her tastes are quite similar to that of her writer. Just ask her yourself.

Player name: Lady Lunarius
Character Name: Adam Moreau (Beast)
Age: Time is a ridiculous concept in a place like this.
Sexuality: Hetero
Gender: Cis-Male
Fairytale: Beauty and the Beast
Job/Career: Enforcer for Maleficent.

Personality: Adam wasn't always the way he is now. Once ungrateful, superficial, boisterous man he learned his lesson quickly and with great difficulty. He's become much more introverted and respectful towards those he feels has earned it. He protects his own, whether that be Maleficent or anyone she deems worthy of her protection. He has learned to take his time, read a situation and so much more. It's what makes him the best man for the job, that and his willingness to follow the Dark Fairy wherever.

Quiet | Calculating | Loyal | Dutiful | Perceptive | Respectful | Organized | Protective

Bio: "I live in a hell of my own making. Trapped in a form that none could dare to love, I am meant to live out my days in misery. Alone and forgotten, I watch as the world moves on. Perhaps she can change that, but I don't see how. How could anyone ever come to love a beast such as myself?"

It was true. No one could come to love him in his beastly form. Perhaps it was wishful thinking but when she appeared at his doorstep as promised by her father, Adam wasn't sure if she'd ever accept him. For months they talked, and she pulled him on his selfish thinking, bad temper, and eventually the walls began to crumble. He let himself fall in love, and then he let her go. Home to her family, but she didn't come back. The castle crumbled in on itself and he was left to die, miserable and forgotten.

It was Maleficent who came across his fallen home. She who saved him from the rubble and took him into the safety of her promises. In return he's served her faithfully for years now. The man he once was is long gone, and the man he's become is someone who you wouldn't want to be alone with if you were on Maleficent's bad side. He lost count how many have died at his hands for her, how many he has ripped from their homes and into her presence. It doesn't matter.

Qualities/Faults:

Positive: Beast Mode: Adam has the ability to shift between his two forms of Beast and Man

Positive: Like a Beast - The Beast is stronger with sharp senses and is quite agile.

Neutral: Dictated by the Moon: Adam's shapes are determined by the moon. The closer it is to a full moon the stronger his pull to his bestial form. Opposite that the closer it is to a New Moon the harder it is for him to shift and maintain his bestial form.

Negative: Monstrous temper - When in his Beast form he is not so level headed. The less control he has over his emotions, the less control he has over maintaining his human form. This also holds true if he is grievously injured, or in times of prolonged starvation.

Negative: Craving for Flesh - The beast can only be fueled by fresh, raw flesh...no meat, no monster

Positive: Level Headed - In his man shape, Adam is much more rational, and quick think thinking.

Negative: Only Human - Susceptible to all that normal every day emotional crap humans are. Shifting back into his man shape from Beast requires a sense of calm and comfort.

Extra:
Skilled Killer: Over the years of working for Maleficent he has learned and honed the art of killing. Whether it be an artful message or a violent messy one he gets the job done and makes sure those who are supposed to receive the message get it. One way or another.

Ons/Offs - Character: Not much of anything is off limits for him. He is a beast and he will give in to his carnal nature. As for his writer, bathroom play is off limits and if you have questions please feel free to message her.

Jag

Looking to swap out Dormouse with Pied Piper.

Player name: Jag
Character Name: Pierce Lovett-Pied
Age: 35
Sexuality: Pansexual
Gender: CisMale
Fairytale: The Pied Piper
Job/Career: Musician for Hire (aka unemployed)
Personality: Charismatic | Well Spoken | Kind | Persuasive | Somewhat Manipulative

While Pierce is most of the time sincere in his kindness, most of the time he is doing it to get something he wants. He is not above aligning himself with someone he feels is easy to manipulate. He tends to have a way with words that gets people to trust him, however if he feels slighted he is not above exacting what he believes to be appropriate, even petty, revenge. He is not easily moved to violence of a physical manner, instead he prefers a more quiet way of expressing his anger.

Bio: Pierce Lovett-Pied was born to a well off family with a decent sized estate. In a rather cliché sort of upbringing, he was taught the manners and rules of polite society. Horse riding, which fork to use, and musical instruments. It was all fairly standard. He was the eldest son, which meant there were certain expectations of him. He never complained about it and was content to play his part. He wasn't some rebellious blue-blood that longed to go out drinking, drugging, and pissing off his parents. He sincerely enjoyed his life.

That included marriage to a lady of good standing. Her name was Serphina Ilana Madelyn Idell, Simi by those close to her. While their marriage was arranged, they were content with each other. Meeting when they were young and raised alongside each other with the expectation of marriage one day. They were affectionate and Pierce could admit that he loved her. Perhaps it wasn't the storybook, romantic love; but it was love. She was kind, looked out for others, and above all else she was talented. She had a gift with the flute. It was with her that he found a new love. Music. Pierce turned out to be a talented musician himself.

Married only five years, the small farmlands that his family watched over were overrun with rodents. It affected not only their crops, but the people of the area as well. Sickness started to run rampant. They tried everything to rid the area of the critters, but it always failed. They always turned back up and more people started getting sick. Even his wife became afflicted. It was time for more extreme measures. Pierce knew the lands would be his one day and he needed to step up and take control of the situation.

Into Darkwood he went, with Simi at his side. A witch they found. One who promised them a way to lure out the rats in exchange for one thing. The life of an innocent. Simi was against the deal, but Pierce was desperate. One life to save many lives. Pierce took the deal against his wife's wishes. The instructions were simple enough. Play music and lead the rats into water to drown. Once every rat was gone, the deal would be done. The only instrument they had on them was Simi's flute.

His wife refused to play her flute to lure the rats away, so Pierce did it himself. It worked as intended. Every rat followed him out of the farms and drowned in the nearby river. As the last rat floated away, so did Simi. Complications with her delicate condition. One he was not aware of yet. She hadn't wanted to tell him yet. The deal was done. Rat and sickness free farms in exchange for the life of an innocent.

Grief turned to anger. Ungrateful villagers who now feared the family who had taken care of their lands, a noble son who had given up the life of his wife and unborn to save them, fearing Pierce for being willing to make deals with clearly evil forces...his revenge was damaging and quietly violent. There were no more innocent souls in the Pied farmlands and soon no one at all as they lands were deemed cursed and abandoned.

Years of grief have no marred his outward personality as he moved into Darkwood City. He flits from place to place. Earning what he needs by playing music and offering his services. Simi's flute is his only remaining possession from his early life. He's not proud of what he did back then and he rarely plays the flute unless the deal is good enough. Nor is he proud of what he does these days to keep himself comfortable.

Qualities/Faults:
+ Magically Gifted Musician: The deal he made didn't exactly have an end on it. To clear out the rats, but there are always rats in a city. Unless he rids the whole world of rats, Simi's flute is technically still enchanted.
+ Charming: Pierce has a rather nice smile and he is well versed in using pretty words. He's good at making people feel special. He is not above using his charm to get a free meal or a warm bed to sleep in.
+ Educated: Growing up as semi-noble, he is fairly well educated. Not just in history and such, but also in social manners and politics.

- Petty: Holding a grudge is easy for Pierce. Once he feels slighted or put down, he is not above dropping his charming attitude and showing off just how petty he can really be.
- Cynicism: Due to losing his wife and unborn child, then his people and lands; Pierce tends to view the world in the worst way. He smiles through it, but deep down he assumes the worst about everything.
- Hedonistic: Since losing everything, he's thrown himself into self pleasure. Anything to try to fill the hole. Indulging in anything he can take advantage of that gives him even a moment of pleasure. The moment he gets any money from a job, he spends it on anything he can think of, then chasing after the next to get that feel-good sense again.

Extra: Has a magical flute that can cause creatures of lesser intelligence or who are easily influenced to follow his direction. The flute does have it's restrictions. A strong enough willpower can easily overcome it, so can those of not so 'sane' mind. Pierce will only play it for a good enough price. Along with his flute, he does have a variety of other, easy to carry instruments such as a lute.

Other than that, Pierce doesn't carry much on him. He is, technically, homeless; as such he tends to only have what he can carry.

Hey! Thank you for taking the time to read my advert. My name is Allora, I am 23 years old, and I have been roleplaying for most of my life. I recently completed my degree and I am currently working in healthcare. Furthermore, I am also in a serious IRL relationship. I find this to be important to mention for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, because this means I often don't sit down for hours at a time to roleplay.

My preferred method is something that works for both of us at the time. This can be one 2-5 paragraph response per day or even only a few responses a week. With that being said, there will be times where I will be available (likely on a day off) and I can pump out responses significantly quicker than normal. Despite the uncertainty, none of my previous partners had any complaints revolving my response time or availability.

◇ Ground Rules ◇

○ The ages I roleplay with are 18+. No exceptions.
○ Please showcase communication skills both during and outside of roleplay. If you are unhappy with something, express it. This goes both ways.
○ If interested, please DM me instead of replying to this thread.
○ Lastly, just be kind and understanding. <3
○ I am a switch roleplayer with a sub lean. I have years of experience in both chairs and I'm more than open to either.

Name: Luna AKA Lady Luna
Age: 21
Race: Half-Elf
Gender: Biological female and representing female
Sexual Orientation: Straight / Bisexual
History:
Lady Luna, the sole daughter of a wealthy human merchant named Merlin and the enchanting elf Marella, lives a life shaped by shadows of her past. Her father, Merlin, an ambitious collector, sought the beauty of various races, not for love, but for possession. Marella, coveted for her ethereal beauty, was forced into a loveless marriage, bought by Merlin as his ultimate prize. While he provides his children with everything material wealth can offer, his emotional distance has left Luna and her siblings adrift, nothing more than another item in his vast collection.

When Luna was still a child, Marella fled with her, escaping Merlin’s grasp in the dead of night, hoping to spare her daughter from the same fate of being sold to the highest bidder, whether in wealth or power. They sought refuge in a hidden, quaint town, far from Merlin’s reach. But to protect Luna from being discovered, Marella had to vanish into the unknown, leaving her daughter behind in the care of the town’s guardians. Luna grew up hearing only whispers of her mother’s fate, never knowing where she went or if she’s even alive.

Deamonbane

Player name: Deamonbane
Character Name: Bödvar 'Bo' 'Pops' Bjarki
Age: Not really sure
Sexuality: Bring it
Gender: Cis-Male
Fairytale: Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Job/Career: Business Owner
Personality: There's not a lot that Bo hasn't seen before. He's calm, cheerful, always quick with a joke and quicker to laugh at himself when the opportunity arises. A peaceful fellow who lives by that ancient Tibetan philosophy: Don't start none, won't be none.

Bio: There are plenty of stories of where he came from. His father was cursed to be a bear by day and a man by night. His grandfather hunted that father down and slew the bear only to find the body of his son-in-law. He fought many battles and won many victories. Somehow the story of a girl with golden locks filters in here and there, stealing his food, sleeping in his son's bed. He's not sure if that ever happened, but it's a memory that comes up.

The truth is, Bo doesn't remember much of what happened long ago. He keeps journals of his past hidden away and the occasional memory resurfaces in dream or thought, causing him to recall and recollect. He doesn't know why he does not age, caught in the prime of his life. Whether it be a curse or a blessing, he cannot say. All he can do is make the most of what he was given.

He was drawn to the magic of the forest like most others. He lived on the borders, having the sense to stay away, but eventually, he built a life. Hard to say when that started out, but as the years passed, his shop settled in. He built it with his own 'bear' hands, offering support and equipment to the hiker, the hunter, the fisher or people who enjoy being out in the open as much as he does. Or, perhaps, those who have no other choice.

Qualities:
  • Knowledgeable: Bo has a surprising depth of knowledge in matters which interest him. Want to know the best spot for fishing? I gotchu. Safest areas to spend time in the great outdoors? No problem. The most gorgeous views? Ease to the peas. Need to hide a body? Obv-- His lawyer advises him to plead the fifth.
  • Fun: He's great for a laugh or two, knows where and how to party, and makes sure that everyone gets home alright. He's not called Pop for nothing.
  • Protective: His land, his home, the people in it, visitors. Doesn't matter. If it needs protecting, Bo has the innate need to make sure it's protected.
Faults:
  • Temper: Bo might be slow to anger, but once he's riled up, it's damn near impossible to slow him down. When gotten to that point, he'll injure others as well as himself.
  • Laid Back: Some might call him lazy. Others think he's impossibly neutral. He's seen the big people come and go often enough to know that it's on a pendulum. Bad and good can be two faces of the same coin. He'll act as needed to protect himself and his, but otherwise could not be bothered.

Special Qualities:
Hamrammr: Shapeshifter. Whether through his father's curse or one of his own, Bo can't remember a time when he couldn't change from the skin of a man to the skin of a bear and back with ease. Clothes generally don't survive the transition, though.
Hugr: It is believed that there are many who can walk free of their body, but few who can do so as literally as Bo. He can wander through the forests in the form of a bear which a few have seen, but never touched. All he needs to do is find his way back to his body. If his hugr cannot return to his body, he remains asleep.
Undying: Perhaps not the best word to describe it. Bo is stronger than most men, but he can be wounded, even killed. It just never sticks. He recalls many times having woken from a deep slumber to find himself buried deep under the earth. Or atop a smoldering pyre. Even in a casket at one point. It took him a long time to free himself. Death is an acquaintance, but has no interest in embracing him fully.

Extra:
Nothing which stuck around, anyway. Scars disappear, as do tattoos. Weapons and equipment are left behind.

Ons/Offs - Character:
Player's own. If you got an itch, ask to have it scratched :)

Kara Danvers

Player name: Kara Danvers
Character Name: Belle
Age: 30
Sexuality: Straight / Unsure
Gender: Female
Fairytale: Beauty and the Beast
Job/Career: Private Eye
Personality: Recalcitrant / Bibliophilic / Unconventional / Compassionate / Selfless / Outspoken / Curious

Bio: Growing up, Belle wanted nothing more than to leave and discover what adventures awaited in the world outside the borders of her small village. She was seen as the girl who wouldn't settle down and follow the traditional path of those around her, a a girl with her head in the clouds, or more aptly, buried in a book. She longed for someone who could challenge her mentally, and didn't see her as merely a trophy to be won. She was most often pursued by the most eligible bachelor in her town, Gaston. Though she whole heartedly rebuffed his advances. He was exactly the sort of man she didn't want, though she had little faith any man from her village could please her.

One day, her father went missing in the woods, and Belle discovered him in the presence of a horrific beast in a crumbling castle. To free her father, she struck a deal with the monster: She would live with him in her father's place. At first Belle despised the creature. He was gruff, rude, and was holding her there against her will deal or no deal. Eventually however, she began to see her softer side, as the two slowly grew closer and closer. As the months passed, she found herself attracted to him, despite his appearance. This Beast was exactly what she was looking for in every way save for her appearance. He was kind, intelligent, and seemed to care for her. Did he feel the same way for her? She thought as much, but neither said anything.

Upon hearing that her father was sick, Belle asked the Beast if she could return home to check on him. He allowed her to go, clearly worried she might not return. When she arrived home to care for her father, her stepsisters (who were jealous that she lived in a castle in the woods), drugged her and trapped her in her room. Her father, who was never sick, managed to discover that Belle was there almost a week later. As soon as she awoke, realizing how long it had been, Belle rushed to the castle but it was too late. The entire thing had crumbled into a pile of stone, the Beast seemingly dead.

To help deal with her grief, Belle would wander the forest and reflect on her time with the Beast. One night, she stumbled into a part of the forest she had never encountered before, and soon found herself lost in a strange new city. Quickly discovering she couldn't leave, Belle worked odd jobs as she found herself a small apartment. She was displeased to discover that Gaston was also there, and working as the towns chief of police! She quickly saw that Gaston wasn't trying to help the people, but following the orders of the people at the top. So, she decided to use her talents to help people, and opened her own business as a private eye. Belle now provides an alternative to the corrupt police in Darkwood, and is always eager to help those in need.

Qualities/Faults:
+ True Eidetic Memory - Belle has perfect memory. She can recall anything she has seen, heard or read with perfect clarity. This makes her incedingly hard to deceive. Better keep your story straight.
+ Grit and determination - Belle will not give up when she set's her mind to something. She is tenacious, and everyone in town knows it.
+ Belle has a very high EQ, and is usually able to endear herself to others through her genuine personality, or through figuring out what the person values and manipulating them.
- Belle has no magical powers of abilities to speak of. She is simply a girl, and while tough, is susceptible to anything a normal human is.
- Belle does not yet know that the Beast is in Darkwood, and that he works for Maleficent. She has heard that the woman's bodyguard is a great creature of some sort, but as of yet hasn't seen him. This could greatly affect her stability.
- While Belle is quite intelligent, she often becomes hyper focused and can miss something right in front of her. Case in point, the Beast being in Darkwood.

Extra:

Her Father: Belle's father came looking for her, and was also trapped in Darkwood. Being an inventor, he opened up a repair shop of his own, and now creates various gadgets for Belle to use in her business. Listening devices, cameras, you name it and he can create it.

Gifts from the Beast:

When Belle left the Beast's home, he presented her with two gifts. A book and a hand mirror.

The Book of Books :  The book seems plan, average size with blue binding. However, when Belle holds the book and things of any subject, if a book relating to it is present in the Beast's old library (or ever was present, with the castle's current state), the book will become that exact book until she shuts it.

Hand Mirror: Given to her to she could see the Beast at any time while she was home, In Darkwood Belle soon discovered that she could use it to watch anyone. Belle can't hear what is being spoken, but if she thinks of anyone while holding the mirror, it will allow her to watch them.

Ons/Offs - Kara's On & Offs
Character:
Belle is sexually inexperienced, so while she does have desires she isn't aware of many of them as yet. However, in a twist of fate, her sexual desires match perfectly with those of the writer!

Tinkertoy

Moved to Approved Characters - Dorothy Gale

Player name: Tinkertoy
Character Name: Dorothy Gale
Age: Somewhere in her late twenties or early thirties, she can’t rightly say
Sexuality: Curious
Gender:Cisfemale
Fairytale:  L. FrankBaum’s World of Oz series
Job/Career: Personal Assistant to Maleficent
Personality:

adventurous | clever | critical | damaged | determined | honest | loyal | playful | validation-seeking

Dorothy’s colourful life has left many indelible marks on her psyche and soul. Outwardly optimistic, altruistic and positive, there’s a darkness that hides behind the light. Between being an orphan and the good people of Kansas never believing her tales of her time in Oz, there was room for negativity to grow in her heart. Never feeling like she fit in the world she was born to and the stints she spent in “treatment centers” have given room for a quiet paranoia, moments of loss of confidence, anxiety, guilt, rejection sensitivity and a fear of abandonment.

Bio:
It would be sensible to assume that everything changed when that fateful tornado hit a small farm in Kansas but for Dorothy Gale, she’d already been living in a world of make believe fueled by hope and the loneliness of losing her parents at such an early age. Following the Yellow Brick Road all the way home had only pushed her further from those around her, making her feel like she was somehow out of step with the rest of the world. Oz had felt more real and more like home than life with Aunty Em, Uncle Henry and all the animals on the farm. In the land where beasts spoke, witches were both good and wicked, and frightened men hid behind curtains to give themselves authority in cities built of jewels, Dorothy had experienced autonomy and a level of respect she could never achieve in the backwaters of Kansas.

Life after that first jaunt somewhere over the rainbow had been filled with more odd looks, rolled eyes and mutterings about “that girl just ain’t right”. She had wanted to share, to regale the tails of her trials and achievements, to use her experiences as tales that could inspire others to look deep inside and find the magic she was sure everyone had. What it brought instead was an extended stay at Dr. Worley’s  sanatorium. Aunty Em had once said “the fairies marked her soul at birth”, and the night she was scheduled to undergo a high voltage, psychiatric experiment to relieve her of her “delusions and dreams”, certainly did nothing to dispel that fantastical notion. Finding herself in Oz once more after a near cataclysmic storm, the world she found was almost unrecognisable. The long and brutal arm of the Nome King had left the lands a desolate wasteland and the companions that had been at her side in her confrontation with the Wicked Witch of the West were all caught in their own versions of peril. With her indomitable spirit of endless sunshine, sense of justice, her own special brand of quirky problem solving and a trusty chicken sidekick, Oz was saved and peace was restored enough to rebuild a more unified and stronger world. As it had before, the loyalty to her family and the farm tugged at her heart, demanding she return home.

The sanatorium had burned down in an electrical fire, the Dr and a handful of his staff had been arrested, and the Gale’s decision to deliver their ward into their hands was never spoken about again. Dorothy had returned wiser and more wary, and feeling even more out of step with her surroundings. She knew Oz was in good hands but she had also discovered that it too, wasn’t home. It was on a night after a long day labouring on the farm, muscles aching and hands raw that the gimmer of a pair of silver slippers set a queer set of ideas rolling in her mind. With the magical shoes on her feet for the first time in many long years of silent yearning for the loneliness and isolation to be traded for a sense of belonging, she clicked her heels three times and utter those five magic words.

There’s no place like home.

When she opened her eyes she expected to still be sat on her bed, in the small farmhouse, in Kansas. The moon was full and brilliant in a sky seething with winking stars. The forest around her seemed to be alive with bright eyes and movement, and just beyond the trees she could see a halo of warm light. A subtle fear in her chest sparked a brand new rhythm that was strangely familiar: excitement, purpose, adventure. With a confident stride that had those watching from the darkness aware that she belonged, she moved towards the hazy light. Her path had come to a sudden jarring halt, a large shrouded figure had blocked her way, the gentle rise and fall of the form made it clear it was caught in a deep slumber. The fearlessness that came with being friends with primal beasts moved her out of concern, not for herself but the sleeping being. A soft shake and the call of her voice woke the Beast, wide cobalt eyes glittering with gentle joy and not a single drop of fear.

The rest, as they say all too often, is history. She was guided into Darkwood City, directly to the one who held the Beast’s leash. Her place was finally found under the guidance of Maleficent, thriving as a personal assistant, finding joy in her position and finally finding a place she can honestly call home.

Qualities/Faults:
♥  Eternal Sunshine - perpetually optimistic, bright and seeing the best in everyone, Dorothy always to face adversity with a smile on her face and song in her heart. Her nature has created and opened many doors to opportunity and good fortune and has afforded her an incredible network of contacts and connections that means she can find pretty much anything and every soul would need in just a quick call or two.
♥  Forever Young - her time in Oz changed her in ways beyond broadening her horizons far wider than any other girl from Kansas. Her ageing process has ground down to an almost halt whilst she is in Oz or Darwood and she seems to be impervious to illness.
♥  And Your Little Dog Too - every living being in Oz has the ability for speech, and somehow Dorothy has found herself with the ability to both understand and communicate with those beasts and beings who convey their thoughts, ideas, wants and needs without the ability of speech. For the tiniest gnat to the biggest whale, it seems there is no animal language she doesn’t speak.
♡  Spiritual Orphan - being a literal orphan and just one step out from the rest of the world, has impacted Dorothy in negative ways. Haunted by feelings of isolation, loneliness, insecurity and uncertainty have created a fertile ground for a deep sensitivity to abandonment and rejection, and she can at times find herself secretly resisting celebrating others because of the longing for affirmation and identity born from a lack of confidence and security.
♡  A Life Less Led - between her adventures in Oz and the time spent the sanatorium had a devastating effect on her, leaving her with a quiet sense of paranoia and a recurring thought that everything he has and is currently experiencing is nothing more than her addled mind going off on unhealthy journeys of make believe. Dorothy can feel like an unreliable narrator in her own story.
♡  Just a Gal from Kansas - despite the apparent lack of ageing and resilience to illness, Dorothy is still just a common or garden variety woman. She is no more invulnerable than someone in the prime of their life, skin still bruises, lacerations still bleed and bones still break.

Extra: Special equipment, clothing, markings…
❥  Silver Slippers  - the gift she gained from her house fortuitously landed on the Wicked Witch of the East are still in her possession. She knows they are a very powerful, magical item that can be activated with three clicks heels together and directions spoken out loud. She has only used them to travel and the desire to test what else they could provide has never been tested.
❥  Toto  - the little Border Terrier that accompanied her on her first adventure in Oz seems to be under the same longevity protections that she, herself is. There is nothing particularly special or magical about Toto, he’s just a dog.

Ons/Offs - Character: Dorothy tends to lean towards a more submissive switch but she knows what she likes and has no problem asking for what she wants or taking it with consent.

Kara Danvers

Player name: Kara Danvers
Character Name: Delaney Leeds
Age: 205 (appears 30)
Sexuality: Pansexual
Gender: Female
Fairytale: The Jersey Devil
Job/Career: Jack of All Trades
Personality: Outspoken / Cocky / Sarcastic / Strategic / Short Tempered / Loyal / Moral

Bio: You've all heard the story. Upon discovering she was pregnant with her thirteenth child, Mother Leeds cursed the infant in her womb, declaring that the child would be the "devil". According to legend on the stormy night when the child was born, it quickly shifted into a strange winged creature and escaped through the chimney, destined to haunt the pine barrens forever. However, beneath every myth lays the truth, buried deep under years of rumor and folklore.
In truth, Mother Leeds did curse the child, and when it was born on that dark and rainy night, she proclaimed aloud she would do anything if someone to take the child from her. She planned on telling the world that the child was stillborn, and saving herself another mouth to feed. Fate however, as it often does, had other plans.

Instead of throwing her sibling away, her sister sold her to an old widow who resided deep in the woods, often considered to be a witch. She raised the child, bestowing magical powers upon the infant and then training it to be her protector. A story soon grew of this horrible beast, which kept people from stumbling upon her home. The best security system, after all, was fear. The old witch always told Delaney to never venture too deep into the forest, but she was never one to listen. One night she did just that, and found herself in Darkwood. She quickly discovered that her singular talents allowed her to become a person in demand. She has served as a bodyguard, often finds people or things, and basically does whatever some will pay her to accomplish. However, she tends to draw the line at causing actual harm to the innocent.

Qualities/Faults:

+ Special Senses - Delany has as exceptionally good sense of smell and eyesight. Her vision is comparable to that of an eagle, and her sense of smell to that of a bloodhound. This allows her to be an excellent tracker, and is one reason she is so successful at finding objects or others or her clients.

+ The Heart of Fear - Delaney has the ability to present herself as whatever a person truly fears. She herself doesn't even know what the beholder is seeing, but when using this ability she will take on the full characteristic of whatever they fear. Sight, sounds, smell, etc.  This is why so many people saw a "Devil" in the woods. Its that they were afraid they would see.

+ Healing - Delaney has a accelerated healing factor. She can be hurt, knocked out, so on, but she appears to heal quickly from any wound. Her healing factor is around ten times the normal human factor, more if she can sleep. Essentially, she can heal from a severe injury in days or hours, instead of weeks or months.

- Delaney has trouble trusting others. She was used for hundreds of years, and only since she came to Darkwood has she been able to be on her own. She tends to distrust others, almost to a fault, until she knows them very well.

- Delaney has a horrible temper, and when pressed, often loses control of her emotions. She feels guilty about this afterwards, feeling as if she might truly be the monster so many people claim she is.

- Underneath her facade of cockiness and sarcasm, Delaney is quite sensitive, especially about her appearance. Her entire life she was told she was a monster, and part of her believes it.

Extra:

A Tail -
Delaney actually has a rather long, prehensile tail. Unlike her wings, she is unable to disguise it, and usually makes a hole for it to go through her clothing.

Magical Wings - Delaney has magical wings which allow her to fly, however, these wings only appear at will. While in use or not, they remain magically intangible, and during use all that can be seen are two out of focus black smudges.

Fantastique

Had an idea for another character! Still think I'll probably primarily write for Claire, but once the idea for Maia came to me I thought I'd give her a whirl as well.

Maia
Player name: Fantastique
Character Name: Maia (true name: Mordbraut, "Murder Bride")
Age: 24
Sexuality: Bisexual
Gender: Female
Fairytale: Rumpelstiltskin
Job/Career: Killer for hire

Personality: Years of cruelty have resulted in Maia having extremely malnourished emotions. She can appear nearly sociopathic, though the more time she spends away from her adoptive father the more her starved humanity could emerge. She is capable of convincingly faking other personalities in order to deceive. In the short term at least. More than one person have met their deaths after being fooled by her soft gaze. She does appreciate when she meets someone she can speak to without pretense.

Bio: Not every princess grows up in a castle. Born to a mother who'd used golden straw to win the hand of a king, Maia's life had been offered in trade even before her conception. Though make no mistake it was desperation, rather than a lack of love, that had driven her mother to offer her first child to that horrible imp. And it was similar desperation that had won the young queen a chance to save her daughter. All she had to do was guess the stranger's name within three days.

She tried hundreds, thousands, of guesses. Until her lips split and her tongue was numb. Until her guesses hardly even resembled names anymore and her teeth were stained with blood. Until the night before the third day, when the queen wandered into the woods in search of the impish man. Here she nearly found her salvation, discovering his cabin and listening in secret as he sang in glee of his impending victory. But something went wrong, and the queen failed to learn the man's true name.

Though the king summoned all of his bravest knights and most wizened minds, the creature known (to none but himself) as Rumpelstiltskin had powers beyond mortal means. No tower or door could deny him, no arcane methods bind him, no bribe dissuade him, and those who stood in his path were soon naught but streaks of red on stone. Until finally he pried the crying babe from the hands of the pleading King and Queen.

It would be 16 years before the girl saw her parents again, on the night she earned her true name by slitting their throats while they slept. For Rumpelstiltskin had no need of a loving daughter or companionship. What he cared about were deals, and there were always those who thought to cheat him. Some of whom, unlike the King and Queen, had tricks and powers that could confound the imp. Even threaten him with harm. And so it was he raised the girl, Maia as she is called to keep her true name secret, to be his killer. To take bloody vengeance on those who would deny him his due.

Life under Rumpelstiltskin's tutelage was harsh and cruel, hardening Maia into a cold and manipulative killer. In the years since she murdered her parents at the imp's behest the girl has taken many other lives by many different methods. Yet now she finds herself in Darkwood, and her "father" has gone strangely silent. Without him directing her hands she finds herself making ends meet trading death for whoever is willing to pay. Waiting for Rumpelstiltskin to emerge from the shadows once more.

Qualities/Faults:
+ Deadly Killer: Maia has been trained her whole life to deal death, openly and in secret. She is skilled at deception, infiltration, and violence. Blades and poison are her most common tools, though she's happy to adapt to other means when called for.

+ Beauty: Maia is exceptionally beautiful, with soft features and doe eyes that give the impression of innocence. Though partially inherited from her mother this is also the result of Rumpelstiltskin manipulating her development with magic. All to make her better at disarming and deceiving others.

- Sociopathic tendencies: Though Maia is not inherently a true sociopath her cruel and loveless upbringing, designed to make her into a tool, has shaped her personality to resemble one. She can be very manipulative, adopting whatever demeanor suits her needs. However these masks are shallow, and over time it becomes harder to hide what she is. Impulsive acts and a completely repressed sense of empathy eventually reveal the truth.

+/- True Name: Maia's true name is Mordbraut, gifted to her by Rumpelstiltskin. It is a closely guarded secret, and holds power as long as it remains so. She is unusually resistant to spells or magic and can find her way into seemingly inaccessible areas then disappear from situations which should afford no escape. On the other hand knowing her true name gives a person great power over Maia. It is difficult for her to refuse the commands of anyone who has spoken her true name aloud to her.

- Isolated life: Before coming to Darkwood Maia rarely interacted with anyone other than her adoptive father outside of the jobs he assigned her. She struggles to set her own goals and, without one being provided, can quickly spiral into reckless and impulsive action.

Extra:
Ons/Offs - Character: Maia's relationship with sex is quite unhealthy, she views her body as a tool and has suffered indignities in order to reach her targets. Rumpelstiltskin himself visited abuses on her from time to time. As a result Maia has developed some masochistic tendencies and at her most romantic will engage in a no-strings-attached tryst. There's little she finds more attractive than someone strong enough that she might not be able to kill them.

(Specifics)
Ons - Rough sex, pain
Offs - Tenderness, unsanitary acts
