Welcome to the Rebirth of Black Sun Rising



If you're reading this, then you've read correctly, Black Sun Rising is returning after a near five year hiatus.  And not only is it back, but it's undergone one hell of a make-over!  We've left the big city and are heading out to small town Maine.  And in addition to vampires, werewolves and humans, we've also introduced witches and mermaids into the mix.  One thing we have kept is our desire to have fun in a player driven, sandbox experience where you all get to decide on the story you want to tell.  For setting information, follow this link right here and for species information, follow this link right here.

An interesting premise.

Let me pitch my character concept - a guitarist who won his crossroads contest with the devil and got to keep his soul.

He’s taken up residence in Oak Harbour, running a small open mike cafe called Stringer’s (mostly for tourists) where he frequently plays guitar to entertain the customers. He also teaches guitar. He tends to be very private about his past although some tourists claim to recall having seen him in concert….

Sounds tempting. :) Just a question: How taxing are spells that summon weapons and such. I have a character in mind of this shut-in nerd of witch who seems to be seen coming out for supplies (until some plot of the story obviously grabs her of course and leads to her being more regularly out) and summoning fictional video game weapons definitely seems like her style, lol. (Admittedly though, I'm not sure of the tone you're looking for, so this idea might not fit.)

Hello everyone!  First off, we wanna thank all three of you for your interest and apologizing for the slow response.  It's been a busy weekend with it being a holiday weekend and all. 

Captain Whitebread - Both of us like your concept and would love to see how you flesh it out and how it ends up interacting with other characters in the game.

Yukina - To answer your question, magic generally is more focused on the elements and manipulation of the mind and body.  So conjuring weapons made of metal wouldn't really fit.  We do love the concept of the shut-in nerd witch, though, so I imagine there would still be a way for that to work within the game.

Rezn - Definitely appreciate your interest.  Do you have any concepts in mind?

For my vampire, I was thinking an orphaned woman who eventually works at a brothel and just had a poor life situation, ends up having a choice to admit defeat or defend herself from her abusers. She turns and becomes a member of the undead, feeding on those that wrong her and acclimating into her new lifestyle.

For my werewolf, I was considering an alpha or a pack member who has been beckoned and teased with dark magic, struggling with the corruption that it’s doing to his body and that I’m sure will affect his shifting/mental state.

How structural is the witches Coven ? I meen, I am tempted to create an witch.... maybe bastard child of one male witch..he got my characters mother pregnant while he was traveling the world..and now, nearly 20 years after, my character would be seeking her father... (who might have even died/vanished/what ever.. but trail leads into Oak Harbor and might cause some stir in the local coven..

She may even found out, that she has siblings.. her father might had an full family back here.. etc..
