I've been having a weird problem with my PC that I've been sort of living with for a while, but it should probably be fixed.

About a year ago, I installed two additional memory cards. All was well, I checked with the specs on the motherboard, and it was all working fine. The problem arose when I turned the computer on after installing the cards. The computer with turn on, but nothing on my dual monitors. I tried taking the memory out again, everything worked like a charm, putting it in again, same problem.

But here's the kicker. I tried hard shutting down, unplugging my screens and turning the computer back on, and then plugging them in, and the computer starts up fine. I've checked with updates that require multiple restarts, and everything goes smoothly, like there wasn't even an interruption in the updates.

The computer works fine, but it's a little annoying to have to unplug the screens, boot up and then plug them in every time I have to restart. Has anyone else had this problem, or heard of this sort of problem before?

Have you tried one monitor only to see if it recognizes the monitor without special human interaction? Seems like it is having trouble recognizing that there are monitors connected when you have to offer special interaction to get them to come on.

Yes. I've tried with one monitor and then the other, and they both show a 'no signal detected' before going into sleep mode. I've also tried just leaving them there overnight to see if it would figure itself out, but nothing.

Are you installing them in the proper order?

Usually, you want the same pair of memory from the same company and specs to be on the same channel, often color coded. This will vary depending on your motherboard.

Yes. I checked and double checked on the manual I got with the motherboard and the manual for it online to make sure and they were installed in the right order. It was noted that there were four slots, and the channels were in alternating order (1-3 and 2-4). Again, the computer words and the cards work fine. The problem is that I need to restart and then plug my screens in for them to be detected.
