St. Lilith's Order is a modern freeform supernatural game focusing on a fictional village named Greymire located in the Quinault Rain Forest, Washington. The village is ruled by a religious authority with its own set of rules and it is entirely cut off from the outside world. In exchange for keeping the region's supernatural inhabitants at bay through rituals and sacrifices, the religious order is kept a secret from the outside world, save for those unfortunate enough to be brought into their world. The game will feature dark and disturbing content and is not for the faint hearted. This game will be GM'd by Sun Wukong. I am open to a Co-GM - PM me if interested.

This idea is currently closed due to interest. Will be looking at alternative ideas.

The Setting

Greymire is a small village in rural Washington State, deep in the midst of the Quinault Rainforest. It is heavily cut off from the outside world with border walls, armed guards and only extremely limited trade with a select few communities and the Government. Escape is near-impossible particularly when the government will return escapees to Greymire. There is just one road to the outside world typically used to deliver supplies, Neophytes and Sinners. Greymire is run by the Order of St. Lilith, a religion that all villagers are expected to follow on pain of great punishment or even death.

The esoteric order governs all laws and decisions made for the village and is in charge of their limited interactions with the outside world. Due to the dangers of a limited bloodline over time the village has to accept new people who are typically inducted once per year in limited numbers. They also take prisoners to be given one chance at redemption or else used as sacrifices, these people are known as Sinners. The Order trade Dhari for certain supplies.  Greymire is kept concealed by the government due to the danger of the demonic entities within. All attempts to harm the entities have ended in disaster and so as the Order has found methods that can appease them they are allowed to govern the region as they see fit in exchange for holding off the dangers.

Greymire is home to the only known connection to Hell. It was discovered in 1742 when the land was explored but resulted in mass deaths. After that, eventually, the land was colonized by religious folk who sought out methods of appeasing these entities and took it upon themselves as a righteous duty to make the land safe. A border wall was constructed, interactions with the outside limited and so the Order of St. Lilith was born with their own ideals designed to keep them as safe as possible in so dangerous a place. Greymire was founded in 1744.

The connection is in a vast cavern known as The Pit, located below the village Cathedral. It can only be accessed through a trapdoor. Unfortunately whilst this area is where the entities most often manifest and are strongest they are able to manifest themselves in the wooded areas around Greymire as well, though only when Sin is present. The entities are supernatural and typically referred to as Demons. They are impossible to harm though they can speak and bargain. Demons typically have unnatural powers though they are far from all-powerful and often have limited time and energy.

All around Greymire grows Dhari, a thorned herb plucked from the depths of their domain. Dhari can be used in a variety of alchemical processes to create various effects depending on the preparation. Dhari is considered the property of the Order and its trade with the outside world is a key part of the funding of St. Lilith's Order. These are most often administered as teas and can cause hallucinations, heightened sensitivity, or a slowed perception of time's passage.

Rules

1. Do not start or participate in drama. Bring any issues to me or site staff.
2. Remain polite in the OOC and avoid controversy/drama. Controversial topics include politics and religion but do not include LGBTQ+ issues. It is expected that all writers in this game will behave in an LGBTQ+ positive manner in the game's OOC. You can hold any views you like but if they are negative do not voice them here.
3. Follow a reasonable standard of English. Third-person past tense spell/grammar check. Use the post header. Some errors are of course fine.
4. Inform the GM if you will be away from the game for some time. (2+ weeks without IC posts)
5. Be proactive in seeking out connections and scenes. This game is heavily sandbox-focused. It requires proactivity.
6. Accept this game features graphic and potentially disturbing content. Include warnings for disturbing content in posts.
7. Discuss any sexual or violent interactions between characters in advance. IC consent and OOC consent are not the same thing. Make sure you have OOC consent from the character's writer before inflicting harm/discomfort on that character.
8. Do not godmode in any circumstances. Godmoding is taking control of another character's actions or thoughts. It does include describing another person's character's response to your character's actions. Godmoding rules do apply to NPC's and demons.
9. This game has heavy religious themes. These do not represent my views or the views of anyone else and are a work of fiction not meant to be taken seriously. Please do not discuss real-world religion in this game's OOC.

Character Creation

Please read the CS in full as you create your character. Delete the sections in brackets as they are just guidance on how to complete each segment. Please make sure to complete the CS fully and understand that the requirements are a minimum. If you are not sure about a character concept please feel free to ask. There are certainly many job roles that have not been listed so if you would like to create a role and/or location please ask and we can try to make it work.

Character Limit: There is currently a limit of four characters, however only two of these may be non-sinners and only one may be a Disciple or Anointed. This is to allow for people to write victims of the cult in addition to more main characters. If you already have two non-sinners and your sinner passes the Rite of the Neophyte you will have to chose which characters to keep.

Faceclaims: Faceclaims should be real people who are 18+ in all images used. Realistic art may be used with discussion and approval. Cartoonish or anime-style art is not appropriate for this game.

Jobs: For a character's job please read this post: LINK to get ideas. If you have an idea you don't see listed feel free to suggest it here or via PM. Please be aware jobs are rank-dependant and some are not accessible to characters of a certain rank.

Submitting a CS: A completed CS must be sent for approval via PM to Sun Wukong.

F.A.Q

Before asking questions please have a look at the worldbuilding thread here: LINK

Can my character break the in-game rules? Greymire and The Order have a lot of rules, and the demons present their own set of limitations. These rules can, of course, be broken. Not every infraction will be caught and punished. It depends on the nature and can be discussed case by case. If you want them to get away with it, keep it reasonable. Hosting murder-sex parties daily is going to result in the summoning of a demon or demons, or being caught by someone and sacrificed.

Can I write a Demon? No, unfortunately not. Whilst the demons heavily affect the cult they are very specific entities who can only be present for a maximum of a few minutes at a time. A Demon character would get very little use. Multiple appearances from the same demon will be rare. Demons will be GM NPC's to keep their behaviour and lore consistent.

How smutty will this game be? The game will not force smut on anyone. Punishments are not smut-centric. It is entirely possible to participate in the game and avoid taking part in any smut at all. That said there is space for relationships and intimacy between player characters as well as entirely optional rituals to Lust demons.

How much horror will this game include? The game's horror elements will always include a disturbing, cult-like authoritarian society. All characters will become aware of the brutal punishments carried out in Greymire even if they do not experience them themselves. It is possible, even likely, that a character living in Greymire never has any supernatural experience. They are saved for the unfortunate or the extremely devout.
