    Chronicles of the
    'Amorous'
Adventure in the verse as a crew member aboard the 'Amorous'.

A system guided adventure using the Serenity RPG

The chronicles of the Amorous. Is the story of the life and adventures of the crew of the Amorous.  A firefly class ship in the verse.   The ship's captain affectionly known as Jigs.  Has just won the Amorous in a card game on a rim planet.   She is looking to build a crew to man her ship.  An old dilapidated firefly class ship that is over twenty years old.   Once used during the war as a flying cat house.

Jigs is looking for four to five individuals to become part of her crew.   Are you that man or woman.  Looking for adventure.   Perhaps continuing the once flying cat house.  Or perhaps running cargo, legitimately or as smugglers. Or perhaps running passengers, and or even piracy in the verse.

    Build Dynamics

Greenhorn; As implied, you’re still a bit wet behind the ears. Whether or not you are burdened with an overabundance of  schooling, you lack experience. Some might say you know just enough to be dangerous. This usually means you’re a nyen ching-duh, which ain’t all bad. You could also be a person who’s lived a relatively sheltered, quiet life. What the Greenhorn designation really means is that you’ve got plenty to learn.Greenhorn crews know the basics of  survival and they can handle lower-risk jobs. (Don’t mean such jobs have to be boring.) The advantage to starting at this point is that the characters have room to grow. They can develop their lives through play instead of  starting in the middle, giving them a sense of  immense satisfaction when they survive and “graduate” to higher status.  A Greenhorn character begins with 42 Attribute points.

Calculate Derived Attributes: Tally and record your Life Points (Vitality + Willpower die types added together) and Initiative (Agility + Alertness, rolled frequently during combat situations)

Skills: You begin the game with 20 Skill Points plus the points provided by your heroic level (Greenhorn 42). Every Skill is rated by a die type. General skills may  advance only to d6, and are then improved upon by purchasing specialties (that begin at d8). Otherwise, the costs are equivalent to those for Attributes.

Choose Traits: You must choose, at minimum, one trait each in Assets (good stuff) and Complications (makes life interesting’). Assets can be bought with Attribute Points: 2 for a Minor, 4 for a Major. You may have a maximum of five Assets and five Complications.

Gear: Greenhorn start with 750 credits to buy personal gear.

Roleplaying Notes:  This is background,  personality in how the character is viewed and views the verse.  This is if your blatantly for one gender.   You would put it here.   If you're believe in abstinence it is where it goes.  In other words this is where you explain what makes your character who she or he is to others.

    Concept
Your concept can be a simply I am the ship's security officer.  Or you can for example I am the ships security officer/explosives expert.  Such as Jigs is the captain/owner of the Amorous.   Her concept is also she is former alliance operative trainee to be an assassin/spy.

Thats not all people:  In addition to recruiting permanent crew members.   Guest characters are always welcome.   You may be like me and love the firefly and movie Serenity and the world of the verse.   However,  you don't have the time to invest in committing at this time.   Might create a passenger to jump in for a few scenes.  Or a planet bound character that deals with the ship and crew from time to time.

Co-Storyteller: Also looking for a co-storyteller to help run this.   Someone familiar with the rules.  Enjoys running NPC's and plots.

    Wrap up

    Who's welcome? Anyone and Everyone.

Is this smut or story? This hopefully be a chronicle of stories with some with smut or not.   The level of how it slides is based on those that join.

Where is the game going to be placed? NC-System-Human  is where I think it fits best.  Does this mean non-consensual is going to rule.  No it doesn't but perhaps one of the chapters in the chronicle the crew might deal with it.

A system game:  Does this mean were going to be heavy in the mechanics and dice.   No it does not,  this will be story driven and lean towards fewer dice rolling.

Hey you haven't mentioned a concept say as 'River'. I am undecided,  and a good write-up and concept could push me into accepting.

Timeline: the 'Serenity' and its crew are running around in the verse.

I love the show and movie, but I don't have the RPG book.  No problem a link to an online copy of the Serenity RPG PDF is given earlier in this post.

Game Time vs Real Time:  Two Week = One day in game

Jig's history mentions this is after the broadcast about the Core's bad stuff like reaver research so it's after the movie? And if I've only seen the movie and not the tv series do the books have enough background to fill in the probably fairly large gaps in information?

character wise how do you feel about the complications little person and mute?

Yes there is enough information in the books to fill in and get an understanding of the verse.

Now on the complications  the mute is allowed

Now on to the little person:
Quotelittle person(Minor) You’ve been called vertically challenged, dwarf, midget, small-fry—you’ve heard them all. You stand about waist-high compared to most folks. On the bright side, you’re a smaller target in the cross hairs. With the proper disguise, you might be able to buy the Kid’s Meal at the local restaurant.  Penalty: You are only 3 to 4 feet tall. Opponents attacking you with a ranged weapon from more than 10 feet away receive a +4 to the Difficulty. Your base speed is reduced to 8 feet per turn, and you suffer a –2 step Skill penalty on movement actions. Being smaller than most folk presents challenges, but also opportunities, as determined by the GM.
Yes with conditions, the character is assumed to afflicted with having dwarfism and is an adult.   An despite being with the condition still can be readily pegged as an adult.   No if it is to give the character child like qualities and to appear as a child.  As you can see I lined through the book suggestion of getting a happy meal.   Being an adult site, I hold fast on not allowing underage and even the appearance of underage.

yeah, should have really looked at the pdf's you linked before asking that. As there's at least a chapter put forth for setting.

As for little person I was thinking shortstack not child-like as I'm rather fond of the easily picked up curvy ones.

Have to peer at the setting info but my current thought is on putting together a shotgun toting shortstack mechanic.

A shotgun toting shortstack mechanic, sounds quite interesting.  Actually is quite awesome.

i'd like to play too, if that's okay?  :)

I've only seen a little bit of firefly--mostly just the movie--but a few years ago I went through these books, setting stuff included, and played a campaign.  (Really good GM too.)

Hmm are you okay with 2 people having  mute.  Also I was looking at bringing a Security Specialist with some engineering skills, covert some influence and linguist. The engineering  is to able to maintain the security of the ship and its communications systems mostly.

The Mute comes from her time during  the civil war, She was the target of a profiteering double agent that was a member of the brown coats that worked with essentially a smuggler and promised  to  take them to become companions and instead they were taken to be  the double agents  trained body guards against their will. When the Brown coats discovered his racket  the went to apprehend them and  the double agent used her as a hostage only  to cut her throat and throw them at the brown coats  that came to arrest  the double agent, The Double Agent died and the Smuggler is still at large.

Great! I was thinking of taking a bit of inspiration from Wash and Joker from mass effect. A brilliant pilot (maybe a bit crazy), that doesn't really walk around that much (Thinking either amputee or paralysis). Great at what he does, less so with the things he isn't supposed to do (Slow learner maybe - don't mean he won't try though)

Two mutes, is fine with me.  Does it pose a role-playing challenge, yes.  But hey it adds a complication within the story.  For the most part, with one of you, speculatively going to be the ship's mechanic/engineer and the other the ship's security specialist.   Means neither is illiterate,  and with such being the case.   Both will be able to communicate through notes, on a tablet or simply a notebook.   Of course this doesn't work in a high pressure situation such as combat.   Which definitely is going to hinder a crew working in union in combat.

Wow,  very unique and challenging.   One thing is Jigs won't have to worry about her pilot staying with the ship.

Now amputee,  will still give you some movement with a peg leg.    Going with paralysis.  Very limited mobility by needing a wheelchair.   Which may make getting in out of the pilot's chair a problem.  Especially in tense situations.   Removing the chair, to allow a wheelchair in.   Would also be not conclusive because that poses a problem for others who might pilot from time to time.   Just some thoughts,  go with how the character feels best for you.

Is it okay to pick complications(and assets)from the Big Damn Heroes Handbook? There are some really interesting ones there (Absent-Minded, Nosy, Wisecracker and Two left feet all stand out to me). Or should we stick to the core ones?

    Marie Reynolds

I also plan to invest in a few different types of sign language.

It's fine to use them out of the Big Damn heroes handbook.

So Elven Sex Goddess  do  you want us to work out with you how we each met Jigs and became apart of the crew or do you have something in mind for that all  ready?

A very good question.   I am open to however the players want to go.

    • Do you all want to start  with the crew having been together for few months?
    • Or would prefer a recruiting arc.    Where Jigs recruits each of you individually.   This will be done, by the order of the characters completed and approved.
    • The final option is just group scene at a inn at a space dock.   Where she recruits everyone.

Now it is up to each one of you.  If you decide you been with  Jigs a few months.   Put it in your background.   You be in on recruiting others that choose to be just joining up.

    Marie Reynolds

For My concept I say it  would work easier if she  has been with Jigs  for a  few months.

So, we have a Mechanic, a Pilot, and a Security Officer.  Jigs also seems a bit like a socialite.  Hmm... guess I'll be working on a Medic, then.

Or you can still do a socialite.   If you look over the canon characters.  Mel the captain could easily been ship's security.  For that matter.    Which is Jayne on the  Serenity.

    It's up to you.

Well, let me introduce you all to Connor "Cripply" Beaufort. Hopefully, I have gotten numbers and dices correct. Note on the pegleg, I used a crafted wooden club as a base item since this was the closest I could find, hope this is fine.

Let me know if I should redo something or if there is anything I've missed.
