Also, since lillisa brings up BBC: Dashenka, can I ask what you envision Sapphire's position on that genre being? Given how it's sort of, y'know, racist. I guess I got the sense that Sapphire was meant to be pretty ethical, and I suppose I assumed that would include not perpetuating those tropes, though I probably shouldn't have. However, if Sapphire is going to be trafficking in that kind of content, I don't think Sadie would be a good fit for the company, so I'll bow out.

Well, whatever you call it, my concern is whether you want Sapphire to be producing content that fetishizes, degrades, or features racist caricatures of Black folks (or any other race, for that matter). That's not the same as having content with actors of different races together. You can do the latter without doing the former quite easily, but stuff like BBC, "Blacked," and so forth does perpetuate racist tropes. And personally, I don't think I could enjoy playing a character who's comfortable working for a studio that does that stuff.

I'm still eager to play in this if Sapphire avoids that genre, but yeah, if not, then I'll take my leave.

Biography: Donovan Graham was adopted by a rich and affluent couple after sixteen months of his mother leaving him at the doorstep at a fire department. His adoptive parents were very passive-aggressive about that fact, but they did seem to care about him at least a little by supporting him in his gap year at the age of twenty-two.

During that gap year, he got obsessed with the idea of being a movie director. At the same time, he took to studying pornography in his spare time. Donovan would decide he wanted to go to film school, but would drop out after a few months. After taking on a restaurant job, he also met a new roommate who was in the industry. Okay, thank you. In that case, I'm still in. For what it's worth, I'm open to having this be something that's addressed IC--it's a huge issue in the porn industry in real life, after all, and Sadie would be invested in calling out any racism she notices within the company. And of course, I don't expect all the characters in this to have perfect awareness of their own biases, so if mistakes get made, I don't mind. I just don't want to see those biases go unquestioned or accepted from an OOC perspective.
