Where: The gated community of El Dorado Hills, CA
When: 1973
Prompt: Nothing interesting happens in a gated community.

On the quiet, rural outskirts of Sacramento CA, sits the beautifully opulent estates of the El Dorado Hills gated community. Often touted as one of the nicest gated communities in California. There are three entrances to the community, with posted security, twenty four hours a day. With two grocery stores, two high end salons, and several high end boutiques and shops, there is never a lack of things to do for residents. Greencrest Park is in the center of the community, and wraps around a pristine, manmade lake. Making the park an ideal place to go for a run, or just spend the afternoon under a shady tree.

The average price of a home in El Dorado Hills is upwards of 90k-100k, and community stipulations say that the owner must occupy the home, renting is against the rules. So most members of the community are doctors, judges or lawyers, even entertainment executives from nearby LA. El Dorado Hills is an ideal place to get the family away from the roar of the city, to enjoy some peace and quiet. To have a sanctuary to return to every night, where a man can enjoy the fruits of his labors with a hot meal and a cold drink.

This game will be about the housewives, left all day (or sometimes several days) to fend for themselves, their homes, their children, breaking their backs to make that dream look real every night. This is a story about the women who are brushed off for work, sports, or a fishing trip. Who wash their husband's, secretary's lipstick, off of his collar. Who find more pleasure from the basement dryer, than their husband's drunken groping.

And how they find relief with each other.

As you can see, the game I have in mind is about a club started within the housewives of this upscale gated community. They use the weekly cover of a "Book Club" to get away from their families one night a week, come together, drink, have fun, and ultimately engage in very taboo sex, for the time period, in this ritsy (mostly conservative), gated community.
I imagined there would also be opportunities, like when one wife's husband and kids are out of town, to throw the occasional "Tupperware Party". That would be like a midday or late morning offshoot of the regular weekly party.

The rules for joining the club would be:
-You have to be married.
-You have to live in El Dorado Hills
This is to ensure the secret stays a secret, when everyone has the same stakes.

The parties are only one aspect of the game. The other are the day to day interactions of these women in their community, going about their days, hiding their taboo club from everyone else, behind closed doors, and shared fitting rooms.

When thinking of characters keep in mind all races and creeds are welcome. El Dorado Hills is like a society all of its own. If you live there, you are equal.

Right now this is just an interest check to see if there would be enough people to start a freeform game in this setting.

Please feel free to post interest here, and if you have any thoughts or questions I am open to all.

Thanks for reading!

I'm gonna plant my flag, as if anyone is surprised, and put in a claim on Anna Kendrick.

Glad to see you both here!

Bibli, I'd be very excited to see Anna Kendrick around town ^•^

As long as we're talking about it, if this game gets going, I'll be face claiming Kerry Washington.

Provisionally interested, if I can think of a character. I get a Jackie Collins / Judith Krantz vibe from the premise, two authors I was (ahem) quite a big fan of in my teenage years.  :-)

(edit) And with the earlier mention of 70's Playmates giving me an idea, I'll probably go with this look:

She is lovely Azuresun.  I need to find an appropriately 70's image

I'm loving that energy  ;)

I'd say, if we get one or two more people interested, then I'll get to work on an actual recruitment thread.

What would the structure be like? Freeform segments for daily life with recreational gossip, scandal and the like, then the parties where the wives get paired (or tripled) off?

Yes, as far as the regular day to day interactions go, I plan on having a week open at a time where the players can set up interaction scenes between their characters at the various locations around town. As you said, these scenes can be rife with gossip and such, while keeping their "extramarital activities" a secret.

I imagine there being characters who are new to the club, ones that have been members for awhile, and even those who will just be joining. I plan on leaving the game always open for new characters as well. A new member would just have to have one existing member vouch for them (along with the other rules) to become a member.

Then the parties I imagined happening in three segments: the beginning, where they all get together, enjoy some drinks, and small talk/sexy banter. Then the middle and end of a party would be where everyone kinda splits off however they want, even if that means a free for all on the dining room table. I wanted there to be two segments for play, so that people don't have to be limited to one encounter each week.

Then we can all trade off saying whose family is out of town each week to decide who hosts the Tupperware/popup parties. I had imagined my character being the weekly host of the book club.

April Blake (WIP)

April Blake is perhaps a little bitter, but realising that the man you loved never really existed will do that to a person.

Initially, it seemed like a fairytale romance. When studying at college, April Windham met the charismatic and handsome (and rich) Martin Blake in the library, and romance quickly blossomed, a passionate but chaste relationship cut short when he went to serve in Vietnam, promising to marry her when he returned. Swept away, April abandoned notions of having her own career, promised to wait for him, and the fantasy continued as he returned a war hero, making her his wife in a grand wedding and sweeping her up into a life of luxury and privilege with the man she loved!

Except....Martin turned out to be quite different than she expected, either getting a taste of power while he was away, or simply his jaded and neglectful self becoming more obvious when she didn't have stars in her eyes. April was put on the shelf, alongside the medals he'd won, as he converted his good reputation into a career in local politics. After a brief effort at relating to his wife sexually, he gave up--at least with her, though not with the many other women whose names April heard mentioned in gossip at tedious parties and fundraisers. And though she learned to play the part of a polite and graceful society wife, she could tell many people looked down on her as a jumped-up working-class gold-digger.

The "book club" was something she latched onto eagerly as a chance to have some sort of refuge from the boredom and nagging regret other than her intermittent attempts at writing a novel. At first it was just a peccadillo, a thrilling little secret, and a chance to have a life apart from an elbow ornament for her husband. But lately, she's finding more and more emotional fulfillment from this bond with other women--though she'd be slow to admit it below her usual cool and guarded facade.

Appearance: April has a beautiful and regal kind of face, with long wavy red hair, and a large bosom. She was something of a hippy in her youth, and still has a bit of that sort of image about her.

Sexual Likes: Light domination (giving), striptease, kissing, slow and sensual teasing, being the more experienced partner, breastplay, toys, scissoring.

That's a great start, Azure!

Before everyone gets too excited, when I make a proper recruitment thread, I will also put together a proper character sheet for people to fill out.

But don't let me stop anybody from getting started. Just a heads up that there will be a sheet to fill out.
