PATHFINDER IN THE TIME OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

Premise:  This game is about a zombie apocalypse set in a user-generated fantasy world.

System:  Pathfinder 1E

Conceits:  I would like for the game to be grim and gritty.  Therefore, in my opinion, the game ought to:

  • Use L6 rules with gestalt classes;
  • Use a non-magical setting;
  • Use humans only;

Aspirations:  I would like for the game to be almost like a resource-allocation game.  Your characters would establish a settlement, scout the neighboring region, trade with other settlements, and try to cope with the ever-present danger of the zombie apocalypse.  The world would be communally generated.

Players:  Players should probably be anal about keeping track of their personal and community inventories.

Is there any interest?  Any insights?

Never enjoyed L6.

Would have fun with cleric or war priest or fighter type combined with alchemist, but is alchemy considered magic? Figure the divine types would be out

Alchemists do imbue their potions with their personal magic RAW.

Quotehen an alchemist creates an extract or bomb, he infuses the concoction with a tiny fraction of his own magical power—this enables the creation of powerful effects, but also binds the effects to the creator.

If you could, Phantom, link us to the Gestalt rules?

Also, are we starting at level 1? Any other special considerations to make during character creation? How many players are you looking for?

How will the community world building work?

Is Gunslinger allowed? I might submit a Ranger/Gunslinger gestalt.

1.  Gestalt rules: https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm
2.  Probably level 6.
3.  I haven’t decided further considerations.
4.  4-6 players
5.  Communal world-building means that the players will need to be creative in seeking out opportunities and fleshing out problems associated with said opportunity.  For example, you need horses.  You can say, “my character knows of a ranch that existed some 1d20 miles away.  They kept about two-dozen horses.  However, he heard bandits have taken over the area.”  Everyone would present an idea similar to that, and then I would choose “the best one.”  Sometimes, I might choose a “wrong”  lead, in that the circumstances are not like the rumor.  For the example above, that could mean that your character was wrong about there being horses, there being bandits, or even there ever being a ranch.  Maybe you found a settlement willing to trade horses for steel or a bandit camp that has eaten the horses.
