Hello, looking for a long term player(s) for a post by post free form roleplay. Unfortunately I usually don't have time to do consistent chat-based games but i can usually post every couple of days or even every day, work permitting. This is a “sandbox” hard sci fi RPG idea i've been developing for a while: A few words about the setting: it's a grand scale space opera style, with spaceships traveling between systems, establishing bases and doing the von Newman thing.. (more spaceships)  there is no known faster than light travel, no artificial gravity.
Energy produced mostly by fusion and antimatter catalysed fusion, so antimatter is extremely rare and expensive, big spaceships will have maybe a few grams on board.
Interstellar propulsion made possible by fusion engines, and a combination of solar/laser sails which require megastructures in form of laser arrays at least in the outbound system and gravitational maneuvering, with possible bussard ramjets if the gas density in the region is very high.
Interstellar ships is massive with large crew, with most of the crew in “cold sleep” anabiosis for most of the voyage. Voyages between even close stars take decades.

On the story: You will start as part of a reduced crew of an interstellar ship Red Star sent to investigate an outpost that went “quiet” unexpectedly.

Where the story takes us, the sky's the limit. Depending on a scale we wish to take it could be from individual adventure to massive scale with players controlling multiple ships and colonies. NSFW is fine if its in a scope of a game (and everyone involved is an adult) this is however mostly an adventure game not exclusively romance game.

Depending on demand story can be lightharted, or cosmic horror, as for scale anything from spaceship crew members to galactic civilisations is game.  I primarelly mean this to gradually expand in scale but Ill do what players would prefer and depending on where story goes.

Consider me curious! Though you've got me wondering how long under subjective time such a journey would take as opposed to objective.

Well im not considering actual relativistic speeds, most will be under  1/2C. However if you are in cryo sleep, its basically just one long cold night subjectivelly regardless of actual time (in extreme cases of thousands of years "in the freezer" so to speak. You'd probably be woken up at least partially periodically for some medical procedures to avoid certain issues that arise when storing living bio objects for too long.)

I am interested as well. I've never done many group games so I'm a little bit of a noob when working with multiple people at a time. I'll keep this in mind though ^^

Thank you for showing interest, so far it doesn't look like we will have lots of people, but that is not necessary a bad thing. Ill stsrt the game probably on monday and well see how it goes. Hopefully itll be fun for all involved.

oh yes, good point please feel free to create a character, with up to 2 specializations, for example a pilot, who is also a medic, or thermonuclear engineer who is also a computer programmer, etc., well keep it free form, ill post an example NPC that I had used before now there are tidbits of lore that is in a char sheet I'll post a short intro as well to help things along so you guys have things to reference should you choose to:

Security Officer:
Rank: Subleutennant (promoted for mission purposes)
Name: Roy Marshak
Origin: Planet born - Paradise 2 (F29)
Specialty: Warfare (experience), low level hydroponics maintenance, secondary maintenance mechanic.

Record: Was involved in F29 rebellion on the side of rebels!
After rebellion was suppressed by Hyperion (Starship Name) and its crew. In accordance with peace agreement was relegated to Hyperion for reeducation menial work therapy for 10 years. Was put into cold crew tertiary status, and moved to Red star, due to open resentment and conflicts with Hyperion crew.

Psychological profile: Openly hates spacers, Openly hates Hyperion and people from the Hyperion. Not advised to be put in position involving critical tasks (overruled on authority of  Capitan of Red Star rear Admiral. Bykov)

Medical note: Due to high G planet born origin and physical conditioning is extremely physically strong. The height and size prevents Subject from using standard vacc suits and safety equipment allowed to use his personal modified vacc suit, inadvisable on use in high risk missions (overruled-rear Admiral Bykov)

PS. Feel free to also come up with your own lore insert, this is meant to be free form not a rigid setting, more like a collaboration.

So this is a starter  you (one or a group feel free to have henchmen play multiple) are a part of a reduced crew of a first wave STL ship "Red Star" that is sent to investigate a system in which a colony felt silent 186 years ago, at the end of your 50 year trip Red Star suffered a cryogenics malfunction that killed most and prevented some more of the crew from being awoken with the means available. So everyone who was left would be awoken from cryosleep as emergency replacements. And that's where we are going to start. Now Red star isn't a military ship its a first wave explorer ship with limited outpost construction capability. But it carries a lot of fuel and comparatively light having max (awake) crew to under a thousand. As such it can sustain faster and longer acceleration.

Overall the "humanity" is into fusion and space colonization/exploration phase. The relatively cheap energy allows for unprecedented industrial and engendering capacity,  Large space habitats, massive interstellar ships and beginning of megastructures mostly in form of large number of smaller satellites working as a swarm (specifically colossal star orbiting laser arrays used to assist the spaceships in accelerating and decelerating) , orbital lifts and sky hooks, are used to cheaply reach orbit, and huge particle accelerators to slowly generate precious milligrams of antimatter.
On a smaller scare some advanced materials like carbon nanotubes, genetic engineering and advances in medical and computer science have changed the lives of people significantly. If you like to have unusual bio or cybernetic augmentations it can be done albeit is not yet super common (save for purely medical reasons). AI is available but requires rather massive amounts of equipment, like a spaceship's supercomputer so it's definitely possible but is no portable yet. Communications are still radio and laser based unfortunately there seems not to be a better solution is foreseeable future. Spaceships can only reach fractions of light speed.

PS. If you want to make a group of many characters it doesn't have to be super detailed.

Now where would we post an actual game thread? Kind of at a loss here.

Not to bump this but is anyone still interested?

I realize you guys said curious,  so no pressure lol just let me know.
