This is only an interest check, although all comments are welcome.

Located just 150 miles north of the South Pole, Research Station November is unique in a number of ways. To begin with, it is active 12 months of the year with a permanent population of 12; an additional number of researchers, scientist, temporary guest and other incidentals that numbers anywhere from 16 to 22 people. The station is a truly international population station with a waiting list 3 or more years long, with tours lasting no more than 12 months.

The station is also modular and consist of 8 modules originally designed for an aborted moon base. Laid out in a top heavy cross with a larger  central intersection and base, each module is approximately 40 feet long and 20 feet wide (interior dimensions). The “hub”, or crossroads is larger, and measures 40 by 40 feet (Interior space) and is labeled “mod 1”. It houses the communication shack, security, Weather and public recreation areas. (A small fitness center, common room, dining facilities and kitchen). It is the only 2 level building in the network and is accessed by a central staircase.

Module 2, situated to the north of the hub is designated living quarters and is made up of 3 modules (2 East and 2 West) that sit side by side. The central section is reserved for support personnel while 2E and 2W are for long and short term personnel.

Module 3, situated east of the hub, is designed as a fully contained labs section. Each lab has it’s own airtight seal and contains 4 laboratories for the most dangerous or risky studies.

Module 4, situated south of the hub consists mainly of maintenance and storage areas as well as a double airlock that opens to Module 6, the garage bay and power plant.

Module 5 is situated to the west of the hub and houses an additional 6 low threat laboratories as well as the station’s one hydroponics lab at the far end. This is where the station may conduct botany experiments as well as supplement the population’s vegetable supply.

Independent storage buildings are situated to the east and west of Module 4 and contains supplies and materials that are not affected by the extreme temperatures.

The only 2 personnel who have been on station for more than a year are the station administrator, Riley Kennedy (22 months) and John Carpenter, the Environmental Engineer (AKA the Handyman) (37 months)

The station has an extensive application process that includes psychological and physical exams, educational backgrounds and a section for the specific fields and subjects of study to be undertaken. Failure to pass any of these sections results in a rejected application; there are no socially deviant or radical personalities at such an isolated facility… Hell, a too strongly held political or racial opinion can be rejected for the safety and peace of all there. (IE, no nymphomaniacs, serial rapist/killers, sociopaths or rabid trump supporters allowed. ;) )

Now, to the plot.

It’s the middle of the Antarctic winter; the sun won’t rise for weeks yet and the mid July “daytime” high is a balmy -70 degrees with a -30 degree wind chill. The last supply run was 2 weeks ago, so there’s plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables… if you don’t mind them coming in frozen, at least. And things are going along at it’s normal, relaxed pace. It’s a normal hump day and the cook has promised a special dinner for someone’s birthday… probably Leg of Spam with a nice cherry sauce glaze with canned corn, Brussel sprouts and fresh cupcakes for dessert! (Hey, you don’t come here for the food, it’s nourishing, filling and, usually, kill anyone. The cook is a fully trained US Navy chef, so what do you expect beyond excellent coffee?

It’s a relatively easy life for the people at November station… well, at least until someone discovers a woman a few hundred yards out. She’s a feisty one and there’s a couple of busted nuts before she’s subdued and brought inside… and that’s when things get really weird…

1.   She’s not dressed for the weather; all she wore was a light weight, snug body stocking like thing.
2.   2. Her backpack was filled with high quality electronics from all over the world… but they aren’t from the labeled manufacturers. Sony doesn’t make a digital camera with night vision, infra-red)ish) capabilities… at least with extreme low temperature tolerances in Titanium.
3.   3. Her blood test didn’t come back as expected. Everything is normal, but a little off… and what’s that brownish fatty layer that’s giving the ultrasound wand fits?
4.   4. How did she get there to begin with!
Of course, then there’s the sudden rash of hot, really, really hot dreams, unexpected visits to the storage closets, or for those who like to live dangerously, the back of the snowcat… or for those who really, really want to live dangerously, Riley’s desk.

Just what is going on??

Roles already taken:

Riley Kennedy (Blinkin)
Ms. Jane Doe (Blinkin)

If there’s enough interest, I’ll come up with a character sheet or something.

Yes, I really am blind.
Being Literate is the ability to read and understand a language. When you ask for literate, what you are looking for is Verbosity, which is the ability to use lots of words without actually saying very much... like politicians. I consider myself both literate and verbose.

Ohh! This sounds fun!

Let me know if you need a doctor.  :-*

Why, hello there Doc,What's up? lol

Ok, sorry for the bad joke. Thank you for being the first in showing interest in my little story concept.

Hopefully things will stay true to form and no someone else has been the first to show some interest, those waiting for just such an event will appear. ;)

IF things get off of the ground, and IF the game starts, you got the good doctor's spot if you want it. Said character would probably have significant contact with the strange little lady.

Hey hey, this looks a bit fun after reading about it. Surprised there hasn't been more interest in this type of thing. I do say though if you have room for more, I would love to play either a Bodyguard/ Military personel or follow what I do in real life and play a chef for ya.

Blinkin

It's still a viable option if we can get enough interest. The presence of "security" would be minimal as it's isolated and really not an military operation. But I'm sure that something could be arranged.

This actually sounds really cool and well thought out. Count me in if it goes ahead.

Well, that's three, plus me... hey, that rhymes!

It looks like there's an interest in the station MD (Perhaps a little PhD as well?), a chef/cook and... something.

I would like a couple of more to get the main characters taken care of. There's always positions for researchers/visitors along with the station staff.

Want to be doing test on ancient bacteria from ice cores? No problem!

A reporter doing an article about life at an artic station? Gotcha covered!

Want to run around in -70 degree weather in search of the outhouse (Gotta love those newbie pranks!) Got grips for yah!

An artic diver just waiting for a hole big enough to reach a liquid sea under the ice? Well... you may freeze your knutz off, but e can accomidate!

Hell, if you wanted to test some new thing-a-may-bob for the Mar's mission in the most inhospible environment on earth? We can pack your thingie and ship free f charge!

It's funny you should mention that last thing because I was actually thinking about a character who's planning a mission to explore the oceans under the ice crust of Europa (Jupiter's moon) and is at November base to test some specialised equipment.

Is the flexibility for players to take multiple characters? It's not a deal breaker but it could give us some extra flexibility. Thought it might be fun for there to be at least one husband-and-wife team on the base, for example.
