New Sanctuary is a group game that takes place in a dark supernatural sandbox setting. The intent of this game is to focus on story first and foremost. Furthermore, the setting is set within an urban fantasy piece established in a pseudo, coastal metropolis, that is very loosely based off a real world Los Angeles city type of setting. This city, and the further global circumstances of the world, harbors the presence of varied supernatural populace and societies that have existed within secret knowledge of the real world. The existence of these supernatural denizens isn't without some kind of secret history that coincides with the one we know as mortals. As unknown to the rest of the world, there's more going on behind the normalcy of your typical urban setting. For four thousand millennia there has been supernatural core groups that have otherwise influenced, or taken part, in shaping the mortal world through the purpose of their own agenda. This has all been made possible behind a universal spell known simply as "The Veil". The archaic generations have told that the Veil is what upholds the utter discretion of these supernatural beings; helping to conceal their existence. And through some shape or form, all supernatural societies adhere to it in some way. It is through this veil of illusion upon the unknowing world that supernatural creatures exist, and may continue to exist without threat of global chaos. However, there's a problem. Throughout time, and through various cataclysms of history, the efficiency of the spell has begun to falter, and it is the very beings that rely on the veil that are largely to blame.

Acts of negligence, indulgence in inexplicable vices, or events of exposure, have caused the Veil to thin, as it seems the illusion is maintained only through acts of discretion. Awakenings have been occurring at an expeditious rate, that has never been seen before in history. An awakening is when a mortal comes to experience an event that changes them forever, allowing them to see beyond the illusion of their prosaic society. Furthermore, it grants them a sense - a kind of subtle ability - that grants them awareness against the supernatural elements that manipulate the subservient world around them. And it is through further awakenings that the old conflicts only become thrice more arduous, further endangering the supernatural powers that pull the strings beneath the Veil. Additionally, the old feud between supernatural societies lingers incessantly. The threat of another great inquisition has become a viable catastrophe to consider, within the prospect of an unwinding and unknown future. And the incursions of humans and threats to the supernatural have become more adamant in their amounting persistence. Creatures and denizens of the night... we are all in danger.

The game focuses on three core races and their inner conflicts and that of the conflicts with their supernatural rivals. There is also a collection of subplots players can engage in as well. These subplots serve the purpose of bringing players together over a common matter. The main races are: Vampire, Weres and Mage. Each of these races is established through a faction in the role-play. Vampires are (Shroud), Weres are (Wrath) and Mage is (Creed). There will later be a fourth faction available for awakened humans (the would be hunters of this world). This last faction will be added some time later. However, there are those that walk the world of New Sanctuary without affiliations to these established cliques. We’re also open to other supernatural archetypes as well, with the exception of Angels and Demons.

Originality and creativity are deeply important to us..

Our aim with this game is to be nearly as open-minded and unique as we possibly can when working with the core races in place. One huge aspect that we feel makes the game unique is the origin concept. The origin concept applies when making characters. We leave their nature entirely up to players creative decisions. Do you have an interesting spin on a vampire? Perhaps a Were-creature that transforms into something other than a wolf? Perhaps a mage that practices unconventional arts? We're open to all of that, and encourage players to be unique in their ideas so they may feel at liberty to take the already popular, established, supernatural creatures in unique and exciting directions. The only key rule to consider here is that your concept must abide by the conventional factors that makes a specific supernatural concept only spiritually what it is. Example: Vampires must drink blood to sustain their existence / Weres cursed by some form of beast that unconditionally influences them / Mages are humanoid in nature but possess strong arcane connections.

As of just recently, the game has officially started. We’ve hardly got into posts and so the game is still largely just starting out. We have plenty of room for anyone interested in joining the game. That said, the game is slow moving but has a small group of players so far. For those who enjoy more expansive lore, we’ve put together a worldbuilding thread that is available for anyone who wishes to learn more about the richer elements that will bring the game to life. You don't need to read the whole thing. The only requirement for joining the game is having a general knowledge of the rules we have in place. As well as a general understanding of the supernatural races that make the game is an obvious expectation. Beyond that we encourage those interested in joining the game to peak into information regarding the factions that make the game and what they are all about.

We’re looking for writers who like to make connections with their fellow players and aren’t afraid to involve themselves in the kind of setting we have here. Conclusively, I'd like to note that the games core factions are largely open to player involvement. I myself will only be predominantly influencing much of the Vampire faction in the game. November Bleeds will have some influence over the Were faction in the game. Regardless, there will be positions of power and influence available through all factions in some form, with both Were and the Mage faction being entirely accessible through players own ownership. We're very open to hearing Alpha and Supreme concepts. However, anyone who might be interested in filling in for these kind of roles must be in a candid contact with me, solely for the sake of keeping the game running smooth and sensibly for everyone.

Please direct any questions about the game to myself (Dhampyress), or my supporting GM: November Bleeds. Only myself and November should be posting here. If any readers have any questions regarding the game they are encouraged to ask here or private message myself or November Bleeds.

We are currently we're open to any of the core races or unique races. The only limit to the number of characters per race will be dependent on the population balance of the game. For now, we are leaving four roles of each race open to character concepts. Unique races will only have three available vacant. Your role in a particular core group is only limited by what lore has already been established in the game. You can be anything from a character seeking to climb a faction ladder to an average joe. We recommend you check into the faction roles for further ideas, as to how you might go about making a position for yourself in the world. Information on factions and their roles can be found: here . Players interested in the game may pitch two character concepts to begin with. This means a player can play up to two characters initially. This limit may be exceeded later, once game activity starts to better shape.

Below you'll find the slot availability for each race and how many roles are open for each respective core group. GM characters are not included in these numbers and do not contribute to the availability of these roles. Human character concepts are unlimited. But before considering one please review the races post at the worldbuilding thread, to better familiarize yourself with some of the interesting ways humans can be conceptualized in this game.

Vampires (of any type)
(2/6)

Were-creatures (of any type)
(4/6)

Mage (of any type)
(4/5)

Other (Miscellaneous supernaturals)
(2/3)

In light of potentially starting the game, after enough interest might be shown, we've added some ongoing subplots that exist as current on goings, or matters of relevance to various creatures and their respective factions. These subplots exist for the sake of making the world around our characters feel dynamic. Depending on what type of character concept, that might interest you, determines some aspects of the slice of life that you'll be brought into. Each of them will be categorized below.

All factions and independents
A shaky peace between all factions (with the exception of the Arcanum) that had once been in play, has undoubtedly begun to falter among the various factions. Tension and conflict among the factions has become more common place in New Sanctuary over the last year. Few believe this peace will uphold, while others believe it is merely an illusion, meant to initiate an unforeseen and terrible conflict among all factions. Ardent revolutionaries and extremists use these times to press their violent agendas forward, meanwhile the old guards attempts to maintain their prominence at the forefront of these conflicts.

Shroud
A shift of power among the governing vampire council in New Sanctuary has seen a coerced change. The former tyrannical leader of the vampire faction has been usurped and disposed of, after rumors of intending to incite a war with the other factions. A new Viceroy has taken to the city, particularly an Elder. It has been nearly a full century since an Elder has stepped into the picture as a Viceroy.

A member of the former vampiric council has been mysteriously murdered. Their body was found mangled and dismembered within Were territory. The perpetrator of this crime has not yet been found, but there has been a secretive branch of vampiric requital dispatched to look deeply into the matter.

Among some anew vampiric progeny it has been known that some fledglings have been proven to adopt an affliction, over the last few years with increasing consistency. The blood has thinned and the curse has seemingly been weakened, generating lesser vampires in these modern nights. It hasn't be irregular for some fledglings to adopt weaker variations of their curse. Vampires of older generations draw concern for the future of their kind, as their interests in paranormal sciences grows, placing them into a rise of ingenuity.

Wrath
Insurgence and dissension among the packs has become more commonplace. Packs have begun to dispute with each other more than normal, and the activity of Were's has become twice more violent than usual.

Deliberate incursions on Were territory have become more common place and tension among Were and non Were folk is undoubtedly rising. Attacks on non magic folk have become more consistent.

Creed
The former Supreme of New Sanctuary's Creed has gone missing. The sect is disordered and in concern of impending chaos. Ideologies among the ranks have proven to converge.

A Dedicant have come forward after experiencing reoccurring apocalyptic\ visions, from what they suspect may be an impending future.

It's been known for some time (over the last few years) that mage blood has begun to thin (in a matter of speaking). Those possessing magic blood of the current generation, have become three times less common, making true mages of the modern generation exceedingly rare. On flipside recent awakenings have made their respective subjects much more atoned to the practice of magic. It seems awakened humans might carry the traditions of mages in the foreseeable future; or at least it is theorized by some.

Arcanum
The Arcana branch that has long stood in New Sanctuary has been nearly eradicated. The organization is in ruins, and a causes as to why lay hidden behind the veil of unsolved mystery. A scarce few survivors look to recreate what has been lost, and solve the mystery that led to their unforeseen demise.

Click!
Koka is a master of seduction and irrefutably charismatic. It's common of each word she might choose to say, during a meaningful social engagement, to carry some sense of personal weight, inevitability spelling her close ties to her deeper emotion; a fickle and almost elusive element to her character. She's known to play faces to better get to know people, and is compelling in her social skills of warming up to others. Furthermore, she's quite perceptive, often paying attention to details regarding social circumstances, which leads her to quickly learn how to read people. Many people, even of the vampiric kind that have had the experience of meeting her, often describe her company as rather mesmerizing, if not outright pacifying. This works in much favor for the natural temptress, as few can resist the charms that seem to almost radiant from her presence. It also makes socializing with others somewhat roll of the tongue, if they find themselves under the persuasions of this characteristic charm. This has easily allowed her to become something of a natural informant, as there are few who don't enjoy her company. Koka is one to dig a little deep, if there is a worthwhile reason for her to get to know someone. When she has information on something, few can figure out her intentions of using it, as she's particularly skilled at keeping her personal interests of others in confidence; unless there is a reason to extort someone for her own benefit. This however is a less common practice of hers and is a habit often reserved for those who might get on her bad side, or enemies that she possesses some purpose or intention to harm.  It is because of these particular qualities that she is often called upon as a trusted information source to the Shroud, especially in regards to street level matters.

The toll of her embrace ultimately impacted her. She has a tendency of placing her feelings first before other matters. This can lead her to come off as pretentious or emotionally stubborn to some. She felt that something was taken from her in her subsequent experiences in unlife, due to the circumstances of an unwanted embrace. Ever since she's been obsessed with trying to recover it to no avail. Her bitter and tragic feelings have unconditionally adapted to her more introvertive personality, leading her to be entitled by her feelings. While she's still naturally talented at decision making and pursuing ventures, it's inevitable that her decisions are influenced by her deeper sentiment; whether she chooses to vocalize this more openly or not. This can sometimes give off mixed impressions to people who might initially find some sort of conference with her, if she's in a mood.

Perhaps her greatest flaw is that she's often at the bias of her own sentiment. As much as her cycles of emotion seem to shift through subtle experiences that most others might be able to forget, or take with a grain of salt. Koka has a habit of letting her sentiment lead her down hopeless roads, where she might overextend her expectations; simply because she finds the concept of an idea too engaging to pass up. Its through her musing that her unavoidable fascination remains unyielding, as she is often incapable from noticing her own destructive patterns; leading her to sometimes live in the moment, more than she might want to.

Origin:
Bloodline Daeva
Vampires of the Daeva Bloodline are close to aspects of muse, beauty, love, sensuality and radiance. They are among some of the most human vampires in nature, when compared to the presence often emanated by other vampires. Among their blood they are best known to be artisans, aristocrats, epicureans, minstrels or artists; of which practice or pursue a variety of deeply passionate interests in such trades. It should also be noted that vampires of this particular bloodline are often referred to as Sirens due to their damned affiliation with cacophony, that can be produced through the charms or shrieks of their celestial voices.

In the sense of demeanor, vampires from bloodline Daeva are typically known to be very charming and engaging, even without the persuasive trances that their voices can exhibit on those in their presence. Few that have had the experience of meeting a vampire from the bloodline have spoken ill of their passing experiences with. For it is most often in the repeated practice of their company that there unseemliness begins shines. For beneath the facade of their enthralling company the Daeva is most always a courtesan of despair. Often people describe their company as idyllic, in the semblance of intrigue and reverence; like suspected angels in disguises that exist behind the despondency of their compelling demeanor. However, beneath their alluring surface there's a certain sentimental ugliness to them that can often seem melodramatic, or even exhibit cycles of insanity to other vampires or creatures that can see through their seductions. And that is perhaps the most important thing to any member of the bloodline: the ravishing facade that they hide their more discordant nature behind. For it is through this sentiment that the vampire really strides to achieve its goals, or meticulously avoid its distaste for all manner of pursuits.

The call or spell of a vampire from this bloodline is like a voice speaking from the heavens. It can seemingly work its way into the minds of those that they maintain a fancy for, summoning them forth, or plaguing the victims minds with thoughts captivation. In the presence of the vampire it is heard much more often, as if they are ushering words into the mind of the listener, without the act of moving their lips. Many have compared the voices to songs that take shape through the sequences of words unconditionally spoken to the listener. One important detail to note is that the strength of the voice is reflective on the connection to the vampire; almost like something of a personal link between two persons. The voice is extremely uncommon, even among related bloodlines or clans that are closely similar to this particular bloodline.

Rumor has it that all vampires from the bloodline are created through some process of embracing faes, which results in their unique melodic ability. Members of the bloodline are quite limited and much of their history, behind the common theory of their creation, is kept only to members of the clan. This is a precaution to protect the smaller bloodline from larger more influential clans that might better come to understand members of their blood, desiring to mimic the process of their exclusive embrace. Their preparatory history has kept them largely in a kind of defiance to their creators. This means the bloodline has remained largely independent and its members often avoid larger affiliations such as the Shroud. However, there are known to be a few that associate with these groups, despite remaining reserved about the secrets of their clan, whilst in the sacrifice of their loyalty to such groups. This pact to secrecy is served for the purpose of avoiding too much spread of the bloodline and to keep their nature limited among the populace of other vampires. It's also believed that the bloodline isn't particularly known to embrace often, as they'd prefer to keep the secrets of their melodious curse among those who are worthy of its edifying muse; that seems to so severely effect to those that might be enthralled by their spellbinding songs.

While effective against those that hear their songs, its common nature for the vampire that produces them to often find anything but ideal consequence. Members of the bloodline stride for perfection in their songs and its affects on those that hear them. Though its common result that the vamprire is never  truly satisfied with efforts of their muse, regardless to how effective they may truly be. They may achieve temporal satisfaction, but it is inevitably short lived, as its common practice for the vampire to crave more, to do better than they may have once done. It's through this process of the vampire that that they skirt the lines of madness often, mingling their tireless inspiration with unfeasible ends.

Reputably members of the bloodline are known to be uncommon, where some of their sibling clans are not. This often leads those that meet a vampire of the bloodline to presume them as apart of another clan, until it is that their discipline of voice is brought to the surface for one reason or another. Beyond that their demeanor is known to shift slightly among different members of the clan. Some have described members of the clan as menacing modern day bards, that disguise ulterior motives through the magnificence of their vocal talents. These interpretations of members of the clan claim that they are extrovertly mischievous and quirky. Others have described members to retain much of more of a stoic surface character, as they play more into their minor relations to much more romantic clans; where their true nature might only surface among close company. What is certain is that members of bloodline Daeva are inveigler's of social frontier, riddled in unfolding mystery and tragedy.

Allegiance: The Shroud
Role/Rank: Acting Prelate (of whom earned the position when the Kastels we're moved up in the ranks)
Unique Powers / Strengths:
  • Melpominee
Named for the Greek Muse of Tragedy. Melpominee is an unusual vampiric ability that is distinct to members of clan Daeva. It explores the power of the voice, which is capable of shaking the very soul of the listener and allowing the vampire to perform sonic feats that are otherwise impossible. One might relate it to a sirens song. However, the reaches of this ability are not limited to entrancing the listener, or ushering in some sense of abiding empathy upon them. The range of this ability can be used for calamitous intentions as well. Interestingly enough effects of this ability does also bare some effect on deaf people as well, which has supported theories that the tone is more felt mentally than physically heard. Anything from alluring the listener by the certain intonation of her tone, to driving a listener mad through the howl of a piercing shriek, or maddening melody are all at disposal for the vampire with this discipline. Koka can use this ability to exceptional proficiency.

  • Aura Sensory
The ability that allows a vampire to immerse more deeply with their vampiric sense. Opens the door to supernatural sight that sees the metaphysical aspects of the world around the vampire. This is normally a means of hunting, as it serves as a kind of window into the spiritual energies of all beings. Koka can use this ability to moderate proficiency.

  • Presence
The vampire emits a supernatural presence that can easily compromise the will of others. This also affects supernaturals moderately. The aura emits a kind of essence that easily charms or can even mesmerize those within the vampires presence, weakening their will to oppose them, and further drawing intrigue to the vampire that allows it a sense of emotional influence. The experience can even be mystifying or outright distracting to those that experience it, allowing the vampire a sense of control that's not outright commanded from the victim, but fetching in a sense. Those who fall under the mesmerized condition may only stare in awe at the vampire or simply cower in fear. Koka can use this ability to moderate proficiency.
Unique Weaknesses:
  • Pacifist
It's unlike Koka to allow herself to physically harm others with resentful intent. She's more the sort to go through others to get such deeds done, or send messages to rivals or enemies. Her particular concord with her specific line of curse keeps her from desiring to openly bring pain to others, outside the purpose of sensual or emotional enhancement. Koka is only capable of directly hurting others if she's given consent or in a state of frenzy; though few things can ever send her so far off the deep end. Although, if ever tipped ever so far off the deep end, she becomes as equally formidable as she is a bloodcurdling, sight to behold.
  • Emotion
Though passionate and sensual, offspring of Clan Daeva are often contested within their emotions. The degree of this is apparent with all members of the bloodline in some way, as inherently, this inclines the vampire to act in certain ways that tether the actions or choices of the vampire to an emphatic existence, that serves to bare much pull on the nature of the vampire in the midst of their immortal moments. For Koka this remains an ingrained hindrance that can often lead her to make impulsive decisions, influenced more by her own sensitivity, than that of thoughtful consideration. Furthermore, it's not unlike members of the clan to become utterly dominated by actions drawn from empathy. This trait has gotten her into trouble more than once. It is exactly for this same reason that she prefers to remain passive about her handling of affairs, rarely being one to become physically involved in something unless she truly desires it. It's this quality about the vampire that leads them to become so immersed in sensual actions, or moved by defining actions, or even utterly spellbound by vampiric bloodlust. This quality works on all fronts of emotion, which is something that members of bloodline Daeva are quite susceptible to feeling; unlike most other vampiric afflictions who have become devoid of humanity, or benumbed of their former human nature. Although, perhaps what is most dangerous for Koka is her deepest secret; her courting with a Werewolf. It is not unknown for the sway of Koka's sensitivity to lead her down complicated roads in her unlife, simply by fault of her own accursed empathy, that inevitability defines a large part of who she is, and what this will ultimately lead her to do.
  • Fascination
Noble as members of clan Daeva are it's known that their intrigue of beauty, love, and sensuality, can lead to obsession. This can cause trouble for the vampire whom may become fixated with something that grasps their attention. This flaw can show in many form, be it subtle, or blatantly destructive to the vampire. The vampire will stop at nothing if it becomes fascinated with another individual or thing.
  • Avoidance
All members of the Daeva bloodline rely on a connection with a person of interest; regardless of their intentions with an individual. The vampire earns more power over a person the more they let her in. Coinciding with this is the clarity of their tone to a listener. To a stranger their celestial calls or wicked shrieks come across as mere whispers when the vampire has first met someone new. Engaging these sounds (in anyway) only grants more power to the vampire, who's call or shriek will become more potent. If one has the willpower to understand this and straight up ignore the advances of the vampire, the vampires calls will indefinitely weaken upon the target. Furthermore, this circumstance will likely spiral the vampire into a fit of anger or despair, likely crippling their facade and plummeting them closer to a lose of control.
Biography:
Bit of a lengthy tale ahead!
Koka is a vampire of whom is still in touch with much of her humanity; despite the prolonging circumstance of her unlife. Nearly a century and a half ago she was embraced by her sire into a bloodline of vampires, of whom are known to be close to their feelings of love, beauty, and sensuality - as much as they are known for their obsession to their own inner discordance. However, Koka specifically was a vampiric  experiment of a much larger clan that shares similar characteristics to Koka's own bloodline.  Some even dispute that members of clan Daeva are easily obsessed, or fascinated, in such a way that seems beyond their control. These characteristic qualities among their bloodline are in capitulation to the nature of their curse. Koka is no different; she bares the certain affect of her affliction well, despite baring such qualities about her, long before the effects of her curse.

Once a first class woman of the nineteenth century, of whom was motivated by larger than life ambitions, Antoinette Mairie has changed with her transition into unlife. She was an arranged bride who was married to a wealthy spouse, despite having given a commoner her heart years before the marriage. Little did she know the reasons as to why she was married to the man that she was, as Antoinette’s embrace and eventual initiation into the vampiric unlife, was an act preordained beyond her knowledge. Once known as Antoinette Marie Koka was the daughter to a business tycoon who made a monopoly off residential and commercial business, in a particularly booming borough in west of France. This, alongside some of her personal qualities, made her a target to a vampiric elder, of whom wanted to capitalize his dominance on a vulnerable city in the region of Pays De La Loire. The elder - her would be sire - was in something of a competitive race with the already established vampiric dominions, and cliques, that had already owned and controlled much of France's regions and cities. Her sire was of what we would now (as in modern times) call vampiric independence, as well as a believed defector (a Prelate with an opposed view on the Shrouds traditions) from one of the Shroud covens in France. He became involved in an independent trinity of three vampire independence groups. At the time, these groups were working to oppose the Shroud's large dominion and hold on covens globally. The trinity was called the Cabal and at the time they existed as a competitor to the Shroud. Having been smart to familiarize himself with the wealthy families of the region, Antoinette's sire took an interest into the heirs of a series of first class families. Namely, families that held some control over the municipalities of the city. His intention was to cull out the best possible wife that, through a marriage to her, would give him easy access to the enterprise of the city. In doing so he could easily assert his control over the city, by owning large parts of it. Furthermore, he could conduct his ventures in an environment where no one would bat an eyelash to his activities. Antoinette's sire was a man of many ventures, as she would later find out.

At the time of his arrival in the city, Antoinette was well over the age that most young women of her position were, and that made her family more susceptible in trying to find her a proper husband that would benefit their family name and business titles. It had been difficult for her parents to find a spouse for her worth the unity of marriage, as their influence on the city was already rather strong. Antoinette's family had always been mysteriously enchanting; this was because they kept secrets of their own. They were particular with who they wanted to marry their daughter to, respecting what they were and wanting to see that thrive, if it was in anyway possible that she could. That meant it would make sense to wed their daughter to someone that could give them something they didn't have in return. Upon meeting this man over the course of a private dinner, they quickly came to the understanding of what he was. Antoinette was not present at such meetings and wouldn't meet this character until a month later. Furthermore, the charming stranger used his charms and a cunning degree of charismatic finesse, he easily managed to create an arrangement that would grant him the right to wed Antoinette.

Antoinette was not so easily persuaded to the idea of the marriage. This was largely because she had adopted an affinity for a servant that worked at one of the country homes belonging to her family name. This servant was a mere mortal and Antoinette was not enlightened of what she truly was. She had been spending time with the servant in secret prior to the handsome stranger (that would become her sire) trying to woo her into approval. It was at around this same time that the resolve of her parents, accepting the privilege of this man to wed their daughter, that the servant Antoinette was in love with had suddenly fallen strangely ill. Unknown to her he was attacked by a wolf-beast like creatures. Antoinette only learned of what that would mean, days after she had been wed to her sire.

A week into her marriage her sire found out that she was seeing someone else. Although what was perhaps worse than that was who this person was. By this point in time her true lover had fallen to the curse of the Werewolf. Antoinette was frightened by the awakening reality that such creatures even existed, which would become something of a cruel irony for her to accept, merely a year later. Despite that her heart stayed with the servant who was forced to flee or be captured - or worse killed. Her lover urged her to forget about him, over fear of hurting her some day, but alas she would do no such thing. It was during their last meeting in the woods that her husband unexpectedly incurred on the meeting. Antoinette pleaded that her lover flee and leave her behind. He did exactly that and Antoinette was left with her sire. Sometime after the event Antoinette was taught of the reality of supernaturals living in the world around her, unknown to humans. She also learned of the ancient hostile history between Vampires and Werewolves. Conclusively she learned the true nature of what her husband was, and what he planned to do to her.

For several more years Antoinette feel under the spell of the man that had stolen her life from her. She began to aid him in his ventures to do terrible things she could hardly fathom, as her sense of reality was warped to the anew aspiration of monsters pulling the strings of society. After serving as his wife and familiar for some time he finally took her. It was almost like he was waiting for something; as if he craved to attain something from her that she could not understand. There was a reason for this unbeknownst to her. Until one night Antoinette died and would live again as something else.

A mere year later she discovered more about her parents and ancestry. They were Faes and she had been born with a particularly weak connection to her truer nature. This made her a lesser fae. This meant she would be incapable of continuing their declining family line, as she would likely bare a non fae child when it came time for her to do so. However, what they didn't suspect was what that would mean for her once she had been taken by the vampire curse. There was one who knew.. It had always been within his unseen intentions. It was why he picked her. He wanted to create something through the embrace that was marvelous and unique, unlike other vampires.. and this wasn't the first time he had done it.

Years later Koka moved away from France to leave her history behind her. For years she let it eat her up inside. From the essential abandonment and dishonesty of her family, to bitterness she felt for her sire, she had every reason to try and forget her origin story. She vowed to move across seas, but not until she had been acquainted with the other kin that shared her blood. In doing so she learned more about the nature of the unique strain of vampirism, despite not getting along with other vampires of the bloodline Daeva. Still, the experiences were insightful. They gave her a whole new understanding of what she could do, as when she was under her sire, he had a tendency to try and repress the mysteries of her origin; only allowing her to know what details he might choose to tell her.

Rumor has it that some time later her sire was destroyed under mysterious circumstances. However, Koka never played any direct involvement that could be traced back to her. Still, some people have their suspicions; despite those suspicions only being as powerful as the lips in which usher such words. After the destruction of her sire she moved across seas at the start of the twentieth century. She mingled in states around New Sanctuary, slipping into the affiliation of the Americas vampiric independence groups. Her experiences with several of them were quite brief, until the last, of which she was affiliated with them for a decade However, it was during her experience with independence groups that she settled on the new name of Koka Stelling.

Eventually she left the life of independence groups behind her, coming to terms with what heights independence groups could offer her. Her experiences with her personal history had given her an unrelenting passion to make something of herself, for herself, in the present; a kind of spite for her family and sire. Ironically, this has led her down a similar path that her sire pursued. A noticeable difference between them is that Koka's business ventures reflect a part of her passions. She's more than just another vampire seeking personal power; she's seeking to make a difference. Through her successful business ventures and vast network of social knowledge, she discovered a sense of power among the elite vampires on this side of the world.

Eventually she situated herself in New Sanctuary and joined the Shroud. She's been with the Shroud for decades, climbing the ladder, as she weaves a growing reach of control over various districts in New Sanctuary. Furthermore, she's desperately been seeking love for the last several decades. She's had temporal partners here, and there and no shortage of thralls where she needs them. However, no one has ever meant something to her as much as her first love. For sometime she's been looking to rekindle that emotion. Koka has been the only Prelate in the last two centuries to earn control over more than one district of the city (within the reach of the Shrouds influence). She's quite happy with such an accomplishment and has since set her sights on seeking the immaterial. Luckily for her, she's met someone who reminds her over her long lost love.

Relationships:
Navina & Venus
Navina; An old friend and trusted associate of the moonstruck maiden of whom have had mutual business interests for a mere few decades. Koka is closer to Navina, as far as true amiability may go, but is a business friend of Venus's. She is one of few vampires of whom has remained on pleasant terms with each independent persona. She knows much about Navina and Venus, that many more have not lived to tell.
|
Kisha Keitar Prelate
Koka is acquainted with the new Viceroy of New Sanctuary's Shroud.
|
The recently deceased Prelate
To be added later.
|
Kassius
Kassius is perhaps Koka deepest and most incriminating secret. And she fears that one day it may unconditionally destroy her. Koka has been involved in a forbidden romance with a werewolf for just over a few years. The relationship itself is very private. Kassius was certainly not the first, but has remained the only werewolf - ever - to captivate Koka's infatuation. They only associate with one another in deep secret, often spending long lapses of time apart for the better sake of their secrecy. It bothers Koka, but she adheres to the practice of such out of fear of harm that might come to Kassius from Shroud incursion, or through the retaliation of his own kind. None of Koka's other connections know of her relationship with this particular man. Or so she suspects..

Desired Plots:

  • Anything to do with drama and intrigue
  • A possible familiar option
  • Hosting events and such

Additional Info: Koka either owns or is partners with a handful of businesses in New Sanctuary's municipal scape. Most of these businesses are established downtown and around the edge of the Waterfront; some are also in the lower income sides of town. Much of her businesses are restaurants, bars and clubs. However, Koka also has several large investments in brothels and private lounges, of which she is rather exclusive in discussing with anyone outside her business partners, clients and customers of such respective businesses. This reach of her outsourcing has been an ideal web of gathering information. It's part of the reason why Koka is so knowledgeable of the words on the street within the city.
Businesses Koka is involved with

(This is still a W.I.P and will be updated continually throughout the span of the game)

  • Nightside (A co-owner of sorts among other things) - Is a very popular night club downtown with a deviant aesthetic.
  • Salon Rouge (The owner) - An upscaled brothel existing on the border of the Waterfront, where Downtown ends. A special club for strumpets with an ambiguous purpose.
  • Pub Hardlove (The owner) - A pub that exists on the edge of downtown, where the Projects start. It sees many troubled individuals.

Unique Powers / Strengths:

Ferocity
Limited. Kassius has the ability to intimidate others through his dominant aura. This is a passive ability within respectful means. It has an exceptional effect against mundane types (not awakened). Limited against Supernaturals.

Animalism
Moderate. Kassius is strongly in tune with his surroundings of nature and her animals. Though he rarely requires any form of assistance from another, hes been known to summon creatures of the world to assist him where and when needed. Anything from a hungry flock of crows to snakes or possibly bats, he uses these creatures as a distraction when needed in order to escape situations.

Unique Weaknesses:
Frenzy
Exceptional. Under the circumstances of a full moon, Kassius loses all self control. Communication is deemed impossible, let alone containing the beast he becomes. Due to this specific weakness and his fear of destroying all he holds dear, he hides and locks himself away in a secret location.

Rage
Limited. Under certain empathetic circumstances, Kassius has the ability to rage. This differs from frenzy as he is in complete control of himself, but only sees red.

Biography
Before fate had taken his life by the reigns, Kassius once had a chance at normalcy. With a family at home, he worked to make what money he could to bring into their household. Middle class life was simple and beautiful and he was right where he wanted to be. But given grave circumstances and his position, Kassius was forced to be thrown into the military, for his country needed him. It was a shock to his entire family who never knew if they ever had a chance of seeing him again and his farewell was a great pain unlike any other. Torn from what was once his reality, the battlefield was far from what he expected. The fear which raced within his heart was unfathomable. The degree in which he felt pain from what death surrounded him was like living in a full blown nightmare. The trauma which he bore to witness was crippling, causing him to falter and fall victim with a white flag raised.

It felt as though he let his country down. Being taken as a prisoner of war, he was tossed into a room for holding, leaving him to mourn alone at the possibility of death. However, this room was no ordinary room. Two steel doors, a large bulletproof window, a few vents all too small for his liking had him assuming he would be smoked to death by the other side – but nothing came. Instead, he was left to his thoughts for much longer than he could assume. While he did not fear death, he didn't fancy the idea of going through eons of pain before his disposal and as long as his death would be quick, he would die happily.

Eventually within his isolation, a ruckus was heard from beyond one of the steel doors. A loud banging arose from the other side as Kassius felt an odd sense of anxiety lift to his chest. A wicked sense of growling and several smashes against metal and chains rustled. The light had gone out, the door opened and he found himself shifting to a corner of the room, entirely unarmed by his captors. Something of massive scale was within the room with him and before he knew it, his entire life changed. As the lights turned back on, he was met with a set of golden eyes of a beast so large that he felt nothing but fear. Without any ability to fight it, he saw his life flash before his eyes as he was attacked and tossed to the ground... The last of that memory even in present day was distorted, like a fog in his mind. For all he remembered was waking up in the middle of a forest, senses entirely distorted, his body in more pain than he could imagine but no signs of death. It was within that night Kassius was given the truth about what he had become and why he could never return to his normal life again.

Kassius' past is a conversation he hardly speaks of, for his new life began the moment he made it into America. Escaping from his past had taken years of work and due to his own isolation, caused him to be fearful of not only himself, but other people as well. Upon his move, Kassius had come to realize that he was far from the only one of this nature, that he was not even close to skirting the edges of what truth lay beneath the surface. Living a life not only among humans, but supernatural creatures as well had proven to be a great sense of relief despite the drama which elevated around him.

With time, Kassius found himself living within New Sanctuary and adapting to the traditions in which the city held among its supernatural community. While most packs were already established, Kassius made it his goal to remain nomadic, in no way associating with any groups at all and instead, focusing on his own life. Though he's made his place in the city, assuring to not overstep his boundaries and make friends within the right areas. Kassius seeks to protecting the Veil as well, finding a way to manipulate what he can around him in order for the races hiding within to not be revealed. There is nothing he wouldn't do for the right cause, especially if it means protecting those around him. New Sanctuary remains his home and he would never see it otherwise with what he's built for himself from the ground up.

Kassius is a kindhearted soul that offers an essence of comfort to those around him. With open arms he will take care of those that need him during their most desperate times. His caretaker nature allows those around him to get away with much more than they think, regardless of his own bias. It seems that due to Kassius' nature, he may be a caretaker due to the loss of his family and inability to have one within this new age of life. But while he refrains from getting too close to others, the one individual he is closest with remains a secret that he'd never tell a soul. If information were to escape of their relationship, the worst could befall upon them both.

Desired Plots:

  • Mentoring a new Werewolf or other Supernatural and taking them under his wing
  • Protecting and hiding a Supernatural or Human from being hunted
  • A hunter who has been paid to hunt Kassius down
  • Any form of past drama
  • Open to other possibilities

Relationships:
Koka
Much to tell here. The two have an elaborate history with one another. For longer than he could remember, Kassius had been alone. A wanderer of sorts which isolated his entirety, until he met Koka. The two were immediately drawn to each other, passionate in every sense of the word as if their souls were intertwined. Given Koka's nature, they are a strict secret to the supernatural world they live within, often meeting in secluded areas with cautious intention. The two are inseparable partners within a open relationship. Their love is kept to themselves but their sexual lives are entirely open.

Fenrir
Kassius has been friends with Fenrir for quite some time. Though Kassius is not apart of Fenrir's pack, he is still respectful of it. When called, Kassius is more than willing to aid Fenrir and given the circumstances, often willing to put everything he has on the line if for the right reasons.

Good question! Right now we are just accumulating interest before we release the character sheets. Once we have enough of a balance with all races, then we can move forward. Right now it's mostly waiting on more interest for Vampires and Werewolves :)

When we do release the sheets though, players will just have to PM them to Dhampyress and I for approval first. Once approved, players can post them on the character thread, which isn't up just yet. But sooooon!

If anyone has any face claims they'd like to reserve, please let us know now.
