Thank you, though nothing's approved yet and I have other ideas if this doesn't work.  But I couldn't stay away from the group doing this for long.  Y'all are just too amazing.

Would you be accepting of Oberon King of the Fae?
Hmm, that would entirely depend on the character concept in relation to the game.

With what everyone already has, I'm thinking he's something of a solitary power within the city beholden to no one, but necessary to everyone. Leader of the "Court", a shadowy organization comprised primarily of fae but open to anyone with aptitude, they have no true allegiance except to themselves and seem to turn to different factions as often as the seasons change. They'd be like an all-around Guild of sorts, offering services(everything from run of the mill odd jobs to spying, accidental deaths, enforcement, etc...) to people in exchange for favors, information, money, whatevs.

And while they're like Switzerland and will deal with anyone, also like Switzerland, they are a powerful force to be reckoned with, and their King is a very scary man when angered.

BlueEyedBard

Hm, sorry but I'm not feeling the fae illuminate angle fits with this game. The two most powerful/influential personages in Darkwood are Maleficent and Snow White and I think it will be most beneficial to the story to keep that dynamic.

I generally try not to limit people's ideas, or shoot down concepts. But I don't think King Oberon would be the best fit for this story. Don't, however, take that as a reason to not think of any other possible characters ^•^

Because that would give me more than one way I can fall behind!  Though it is a little tempting...I mean, in another group RP I'm in, I wish I'd made another character, lol.  But...hm.  Anyway.  I know that your Pinocchio will be great!  And have plenty of wood to share.

Lol falling behind? Nah. With how things are I don’t think there’s much chance for that, after all there are so many shenanigans to get into xD
Mhm oh yea there’ll be plenty of it to go around and then some *eyebrow waggle*

So everyone knows, while the game has only gotten started, there have been some really great posts in the Marketplace!

There is always more room and tons of opportunities for new characters. So feel free to check things out, ask any questions you may have, or just come join the fun!

Miss Nyx

Simply couldn't help myself! xD Please do let me know if anything requires tweaking or altering. c:

Player name: MistressNyx
Character Name: Tai-Li Thanh / “Tinkerbell” or "Tink", affectionately, if you don't know her you wouldn't address her so.
Age: 32 Years.
Sexuality: Openly Bi-sexual.
Gender: Female.
Fairytale: Peter Pan.
Job/Career: Her cover is the resident fashion mogul and CEO of ‘Rose Red’ Magazine. She regularly operates out of the public eye as a Spy and Assassin, affiliated with Captain Hook, and at his leisure, a High-End Exotic Dancer for wealthy clientele.

Personality: Tai-Li is a fiery sort of woman. She has a spunky, spitfire personality with an edge that suggests her birth was out of the fires of Hell, rather than from the first laugh of a newborn babe. She typically assumes the day-to-day essence of a spoiled, pampered princess; being insufferably bossy, demanding, and impatient. At times she can be bluntly rude and egotistic, looking down on those around her--especially if they’re in her employment. Tai-Li does not so much prey upon the weak as she does refuse to accept their tender existence, believing there is simply no place for soft-hearted fools in the world.

She must always have her way; zero exceptions. A woman of very expensive, eclectic and exquisite tastes, Tinkerbell seems to revel in her influential storm sweeping over the fashion industry. In a rare act of selflessness and contradicting her hardened heart, she takes girls and women in difficult, dead-end or life-threatening situations beneath her wing, offering her mentorship and protection to those in her favor in exchange for their service. Tai-Li claims it’s all an act of charity, sculpting the business savvy vixens and black widows of tomorrow while making use of the girls’ eyes and ears in places she is not.

Beyond the watchful lens of paparazzi, actresses, and award-winning personalities, Tai-Li enjoys her pull on the darker paths of Darkwood City’s gritty under-belly as a common companion of the notorious gangster, Captain Hook. While presumed to be little more than exotic eye-candy, Tai-Li does indeed serve a higher purpose, using her influence, beauty, and her scattered network of pretty little eyes and ears all about the city to work to her bidding and the benefit of her associates. When in doubt, the woman has absolutely zero problem getting a job done herself, and more often than not she would brag that some situations can only be handled by a woman… if you want something done right, after all, it’s best to do it yourself.

She is hard to get close to, suspecting those who seek her out to want or need something from her. She is often suspicious of the ulterior motives of those trying to gain her favor, and is not easily impressed or wooed, keeping her circle very tightly knit. While she is something of a talented actress when it comes to working a room, she can get impatient if it takes too long to see her desired result. Her temper is absolutely ferocious, and when she has reached her limit, her explosive tendencies could make the biggest, baddest motherfucker run for cover… don’t get her angry, oh, you’ll regret it the rest of your life!

Bio: Born of Neverland amongst the stars, a world of magic and wonder, Tai-Li held a brief existence in the peace of a light-fairy’s way; changing seasons, helping the animals, all of those pleasant and wholesome things you might expect of a fairy… and all was well in Neverland. Until the fucking PIRATES showed up. Needless to say, the swash-buckling, pillaging, burning, raping, maiming nature of pirates polluted the sanctity of Neverland, and it’s inhabitants either died or fled. It’s to be expected Tai-Li was among the few fairies who fought against the pirates, and was taken hostage. Bartered port to port, trapped inside of a bottle, Tai-Li eventually found herself on a black-market table in Darkwood City, peddled as a ‘rare ingredients for a potion of Eternal Youth. She was purchased by Mother Gothel shortly after her arrival, and by sheer luck along, talked her way out of being harvested for Youth serum by convincing Gothel that not only was she above the age and impure, she had gotten her magical beings crossed, and it wasn’t the heart of a light fairy but the heart of a star that would grant immortality. Disappointed, Gothel released Tai-Li from her confines, but before the fairy could escape, she bound her to the Tower, proclaiming she had to work off a debt. Tai-Li was not forced to prostitute, but rather acted the part of a cleaning lady and masseuse for the longest time… that was, until a rare patron visited the Tower much to the delight and excitement of the Madam and her working girls. How unusual it was that he took an interest in the cleaning girl… and she was sorely tempted to answer the request, just that once, but this patron was disinterested in having any services met. He paid off her debt, and took her with him. Her very first night free, she attended the 20th Annual Obsidian Gala Masquerade Ball on the arm of Captain Hook, and was introduced to the glamorous world of models, modern day fashionistas and the addictive thrill of life in the limelight.

Tai-Li took the modeling world by storm, and why not? Her long legs, golden skin and trademark pixie haircut, chameleon nature and natural photographic presence demanded nothing short of total adoration. She became a fashion icon, and soon after, a female idol. After breezing her way through grade-school, Hook bribed her way into Darkwood University where she pursued her degrees in Business and Biology, eventually taking up Chemistry as her major, balancing her career with her studies seamlessly. Her gracious proprietor seemed to fade into the background, allowing her to fully envelop herself in her thoughts and desires, and Tai-Li hadn’t the slightest issue with that… at least until she tripped and fell face first for one of the city’s most eligible bachelors, Jack Sly, otherwise known as the Giant Slayer. The on again off again relationship eventually became a permanent off, when Hook called her in for a favor, passing her a vial and telling her to take care of Jack, who had become an obnoxious thorn in the side of his organization’s dealings in ways he wouldn’t mention. Tai-Li didn’t hesitate to carry out the deed, delighting her handler in the fact that she seemed to little to no remorse or emotion in the act, still simmering on one of numerous scandalous misdeeds her ex-boyfriend had brought against her. It was the first of many… far too soon, too many to count. The deadly minx gained a reputation as Hook’s pet attack dog, at his beck and call, and with her talent of being nearly anyone who would ever know? With her winning facade of beauty and power in the face of Darkwood City, who would ever even suspect?

Qualities/Faults:
+ Glamour: Most fairies have an innate ability to control the way that they are viewed. She can change her hair color or style, her eye color, her skin color even if she so desires. She may even alter the absolute shape of her face for small periods of time, and her height. She can mask her wings, or make them fully visible. She can appear a full-bodied human woman, or appear no more than four inches tall. Tai-Li exercises her talent in numerous ways, most often to weasel her way into the company of her enemies in order to spy on them. She always utilizes her glamour when she’s got an assignment.
+ Flight: Well duh, she is a fairy after all and as such, she has wings, and can take off at impeccable speeds. She scatters glittering trails of dust in her wake, but only when she assumes her true fairy-appearance, a four inch tall glowing orb. The dust she sheds enables other beings and even inanimate objects to fly as well, for short periods of time.
+ Crafty: True to her tale, she is almost always creating something--more often than not, these days, it’s a fresh look, but don’t let her lavish lifestyle and high-fashion presence fool you, Tai-Li is as studious as she is crafty, dabbling in the most interesting of fields… synthesized narcotics, artificial intelligence and even concentrated, poisons infused with black magick, hexes and curses. In her very small window of down-time, she does still enjoy creating things of a far less sinister nature, mostly art pieces for her gallery--pottery, paintings, weird modern sculptures made out of scrap metal, you name it.
- Temper, Temper! Tai-Li can be easily blinded by her temper. It makes her prone to the most unbecoming, irrational behavior, jealousy, vengefulness and resentment. She is easily consumed by impulses of revenge or striving for the absolute destruction of whoever has pissed her off to the point that it becomes detrimental to her own health and wellness. Tai-Li is not at all difficult to anger, but it can take days--weeks, even, for her to calm down and let it go.
- Spotlight: She seems to thrive entirely on the acknowledgment of others, it’s why she’s gone to such lengths to make herself all but a household name in Darkwood City. If ever she should find herself toeing the lines of irrelevance, she slips into a deep depression, and all but shuts down, unable to do even the most basic of day-to-day maintenance with an anxious aversion to socializing. A major downside to this most pressing need is the fact that she lives a very unusual, macabre sort of life beyond the model life she appears to lead at waking hours.
- Co-Dependence: She has a habit of leaning heavily on almost everything. Tai-Li does not seem to have much self-restraint, or self-control, letting her vices consume her at dangerous levels. Most importantly to her is her attachment to her significant other, fueled by her underlying insecurities. It seems she can’t stay single for anything. If ever she ends a relationship, she almost always has another potential lover lined up for the rebound. Tink can be incredibly possessive of whoever she’s claimed as her own, and she can get extremely jealous, seeming to crave constant attention and admiration from her significant other, all but smothering them with her neediness before inexplicably pushing them away. Her manipulative habits and reward/reject system creates a spiraling storm, trapping her lover within’ the raging tornado of Tai-Li’s heart.

Extra: Tai-Li has a set of beautiful wings, near-translucent, opalescent, beautiful to behold like that of a dragonfly’s with a unique swirled pattern mirrored between them. Her wings grow every twenty years or so, molting the previous layer as they do so. They are incredibly fragile, and can cause her immense pain if mistreated or torn. Paired with the risk of failing to heal from such an injury being far too great, Tai-Li employs the use of subtle suppression magic to conceal and protect them. They are capable of carrying her through the air at rapid speeds, however, she cannot support the weight of others when flying, perhaps able to carry as much as sixty pounds but certainly no more than that.

Well-studied and highly intelligent, Tai-Li is an eager student of Chemistry, and often times enjoys extracting, synthesizing, and even creating her very own nigh-undetectable poisons which aid her a great deal in her work bringing death to the enemies of Captain Hook. Make no mistake, she doesn’t have any issues utilizing other means to achieve the desired effect, even if it might get a little... messy… every now and again. Tai-Li has a bit of notoriety in the underground for not only vanishing corpses, but making entire lives disappear with the assistance of a few mysterious connections. She may describe it as such: “Darkwood is a chess board, and all its inhabitants are the pieces. Some are black. Some are white… but some are split right down the center.”

Ons/Offs - Character: It goes without saying Tai-Li is a woman of incredible passions, and for being the dominant, domineering woman she is, she absolutely loves to be with a man who can take charge. When it comes to pairing with women, Tai-Li is far more interested in taking the lead. Aggressive, insatiable, and demanding, one night with the fairy isn’t enough though it can oftentimes be all one will ever get.

Tai-Li finds herself easily repulsed by poorly endowed partners, poor hygiene, and sharing.. She’s not one to play with a group, and she is not a fan of unfaithful lovers, even if she herself is a massive hypocrite and has been known to cheat with absolutely no remorse.

@Nyx - Tink is totally accepted. I'll get her added to the character thread, but feel free to post her in whichever thread, whenever you want!

Heya all,

I'm interested and have a couple of ideas.

Idea one, which may be more iffy, is 'The Bogeyman'. Leaning towards inspiration from English tales. I understand technically that's a myth not a fairytale, though.

Second option would be the Headless Horseman, who has a bit more claim to be truly from a fairytale.

I'd prefer the bogeyman but I'm happy with either.

BlueEyedBard

Hey Sun, honestly I don't have a problem with the Boogieman as a character inherently. It would just be a matter of the character concept as it fits in the game.

So I would be open to looking at either option ^•^

Totoro

My boogieman character concept would be to run him as a sort of hitman/silencer figure who's generally used to silence people deemed to 'misbehave'. Not much in the way of morality just there for the paycheck and, in his view, the fun of it. So he'll work for anyone. Qualities wise I figure something based around illusions and fear but he wouldn't be very physically powerful in reality.

BlueEyedBard

I don't have a problem with that concept. One thing you may want to consider is that there are a couple other characters who are hitmen or other such killers for hire.

I might recommend considering what they also did, which was have a day job of sorts, as well. Clearly there are s lot of options for mercenaries in Darkwood, so having more than one job might be necessary.
