1/5/20 UPDATE

Hello,

Thank you for checking out our post!  Antebellum is currently an active game going on in the forums.  We are currently looking for one to three players to help fill out our numbers after some attrition.  Characters will be worked into the existing chronicle, and eventually the pack.  Please refer to the information below as to what we are looking for.

Regards,
Intimate Ink

Foreword

Vampyr. Even the world conjures an image, a thought. A shadow. Theirs is a mythology that spans the centuries, and has enthralled us as easily as if they truly existed. This game takes that theme and expands on it. What if Vampires did exist? The World of Darkness is a shadowy reflection of our world. Where corruption might be rumor in our world, in the World of Darkness it is fact. Where conspiracies are just that, there are actual secret societies and assassinations and cover-ups in WoD.

This game focuses on the Sabbat, a faction of Vampires who cast off the shackles of their humanity and are preparing for the Apocalypse. Interested? Read on.

Overview

This game uses the Vampire: The Masquerade system. Specifically, we will be using V20. The game takes place in Charleston, South Carolina. The year is 2022, and Sabbat influence has grown within the region. Atlanta is under our control, as is Charleston, and we've chased the Camarilla out of major swathes of the South. But Gehenna is upon us, and we must prepare. The Antediluvians are stirring, the Camarilla is set against us, the Independents watch to pick off the scraps, and our backs are to a wall. Let them come. They will see how sharp the Sword of Caine is.

The game is a semi-sandbox, with a mix of 'plot' threads and 'downtime' threads for people to socialize and do their own thing within the city.  Though the self-plot threads have not been utilized too much yet, we encourage players interested in changing that!

The City

Charleston, South Carolina has been long-given the moniker of The Holy City. Though it has historically competed to be among the American South's crown jewels, there have always been cracks in the facade of Southern beauty and charm. It's role in the slave trade was undeniable--the city's arms were there to coil around roughly forty percent of all incoming ships from Africa. Markets, where once humans were sold as a commodity, still stand on the city's streets. Even as far back as the Revolutionary War, it was the site of a dungeon for the British to imprison Americans fighting for their independence, time still having yet to remove the sight of iron shackles from the Provost building basement where would-be revolutionaries died. Modern times have not been innocent of grit: five miles North of the idyllic-seeming city lies one of the most dangerous regions in the United States. Murder, rape, robbery, and other crime far outweigh the national average, much of the cities' working class having been swept up there, only called upon again when there are undesirable jobs to be done. The city's ports and tourist destination status keep it a popular site for human trafficking despite bleeding-heart efforts, while the waters have proven a desirable site for drug smuggling and other illegal contraband for centuries.

It was for these reasons that even as the most sheltered Camarilla looked upon the city as it fell to the Sabbat, there were others with reason to be smug: It was a long time coming. Even as the Camarilla were celebrating their victory of overcoming the Sabbat presence in New York City, a retaliatory force was in the midst of forming. The Toreador were still throwing galas in ignorance when their clan's Prince was dragged from his plantation, his limbs tied to tourist-intended horse-drawn carriages on Riverfront Park (with the exception of his right arm, at least, which had been bound to a tandem bicycle, driven by a flesh-crafted monstrosity that still had legs to spare). As the limbless prince writhed on the ground until sun set him aflame, the metaphorical shots of a new war were fired: The Sabbat may have lost New York City, but the South was ripe for the taking. Atlanta and Jacksonville soon followed, fueled by infiltrated packs, those who escaped New York, as well as the Tzimisce and Gangrel antitribu-dominant Sabbat wanderers of rural Appalachia.

Flags stitched together with the blood, flesh, and organ meats of their once-allies were delivered to the Camarilla in the north, always with the same vitae-soaked message:  The South has risen again.

And it had, in the most horrendous of ways.

Even as the Camarilla scrambled to patch the tattered Masquerade, the more scheming of the Sabbat had their own plans. As Jacksonvillle was fashioned to be the Southern equivalent to the Sabbat chaos in Detroit, and Atlanta was fashioned after the martial New York City, the more intellectual and spiritual-minded of the sect were drawn to Charleston in the style of Sabbat-run Montreal. That is not to say that Charleston has not seen it's share of new violence--being a Vampire is violence. And thus, every Sabbat is blood-crazed and violent. Still, among the new population of shovelheads and anarchists are those with religious interests, scholars to the Book of Nod, and even Sabbat developing new rites and paths much like in the city of São Paulo.

This is a chronicle of the Sabbat and their new South. This is a chronicle of the sparkly sheen of Charleston's exterior that threatens to swell with a bloated gore representing its many past and present sins. Here exists a group of unwholesome pioneers, refugees from New York City, successful infiltrators, and primordial vampires awoken from Appalachia. This is their playground now, their feeding grounds, and their sanctuary for practicing atrocity and horror. And now that they have it, they have no intention of giving it back.

A Note On Content

Considering the setting and the system this should be obvious, but it's likely best to mention it. This is a violent game. The Sabbat are not nice vampires. The characters are not going to be nice people. Though their personalities will be disparate and their backgrounds many, with their own motivations and nuances as complex as any mortal or Camarilla, the Sabbat have as a rule given up on the idea of their humanity. As an example of this, holidays are celebrated with blood feasts wherein mortals are kidnapped off the street and strung up or nailed to the walls for the vampires to enjoy and bleed at their leisure. A bleeding-heart character is likely to get eaten or staked out in the sun for Final Death. Keep that in mind.

How to Apply

Players are encouraged, but not required, to send in a concept to the GMs first before working on a full sheet. This should include 2-4 sentences about the character's background, their clan, rough age, and any out-of-clan disciplines or other unusual attributes. This is intended to save players time if the character they want simply can't be accommodated in the chronicle.

We are currently looking for characters that are already familiar with the Sabbat and espouse to their beliefs.  Characters should be from the core clans listed below, and tend to fit at least marginally well in Sabbat society and culture.

The following clans will be accepted:

Brujah-antitribu
Gangrel-antitribu (City and Country variants)
Lasombra
Malkavian-antitribu
Nosferatu-antitribu
Panders
Toreador-antitribu
Tzimisce
Ventrue-antitribue

Blood Thaumaturgy will be restricted to disciplines common to the Tremere Antitribu before they died. Your character must be old enough to have learned it from a Tremere antitribu prior to their virtual extinction.  Characters wishing to take a character with any blood thaumaturgy should consult with the GMs prior to finishing a background so their character can best be incorporated in the story.

Hands of Destruction
Lure of Flames
The Path of Corruption
The Path of Mars
The Path of Father's Vengeance (do know some Sabbat will not take kindly to this path)
Thaumaturgical Countermagic

Characters will be alotted 18 freebie points at character generration.

FAQ

Q: Who is running this game?
A: Intimate Ink and Xurtan are co-storytellers for the game, and we're thankful for your interest!

Q: So this is a system game?
A: Yes. While we don't mind offering guidance and mentioning what to roll, characters will be created with the default system rules of V20. Some understanding or willingness to learn the system is suggested.

Q: What Generation do we start as?
A: 13th, as per RAW.

Q: How old can we be?
A: At the high end, you may have been Embraced up to 50 years ago.

Q: Can I use [X/Y/Z from A/B/C book]?
A: Third party content is prohibited, but official content outside of the V20 book will be considered on a case by case basis.

Q: Merits & Flaws?
A: Yes, up to 7 points of Flaws and as many Merits as you have Freebies for.

Q: Do we start with weapons or armor?
A: To avoid the trope of everyone's Grandmother leaving them a flamethrower, equipment purchases will be handled in-game.

Q: Is this game going to have a sex focus?
A: While it will not be the focus, it is Vampire, and it is Elliquiy. Avoiding it entirely is both impossible and unrealistic.

Q: What board will this game be in?
A: Extreme Small Group.

Q: How many people are you accepting?
A: As many as submit applications that fit within the setting; likely more than four, ideally less than ten. Essentially that means there's plenty of room without us ending up the largest pack east of Mexico City. This game is not first come, first serve, so always feel that you can submit a character.

Q: Will we be using Face Claims?
A: Yes. Real world face claims as per Elliquiy rules, and you may reserve one.

Rules

  • No drama. Seriously. If you have a problem, bring it to me or Xurtan. We are all adults here and able to separate character drama from player drama.
  • In keeping with E's rules, characters must be (and appear to be) 18 years of age or older.
  • The game is all inclusive so if you would like to play a gay, bi, straight, trans or other form of character you may, regardless of your gender as a writer.
  • Storyteller posts will be made every five days during periods of active plot threads. If you have not posted a character action within that period, your character will be moved for you or ignored for that round.
  • If you know you will be absent, please communicate with us and we will work something out.
  • Don't control the actions of anyone else, worry about your own character. IE, don’t godmode.
  • Post length is flexible but try to give people room to react to things without also skipping forward.
  • Posts should be made in third person, past tense. Please take into account spelling and grammar.
  • Generally it is safe to assume RAW, but if a question comes up please don't hesitate to contact myself or Ink.

Contacts: I keep a few useful contacts around town. Mostly the small time drug dealers that sell for me, but also a Sergeant in the CPD, and some administrator in the local health department. Never got the latter’s proper title, but it doesn’t matter. I pass him some blow and he’s more than happy to shut down a restaurant or something for a day. The Sergeant mostly just passes me information; he’s not a druggie, but his wife? That’s another story. Never give a weakness to someone willing to take advantage of it; let that be a lesson.

Resources: Most of my money is tied up in the drugs but at least the shit sells at a decent rate. The hard cash I keep is from that, at least. The money in my bank is from the apartment complex I live in and rent out. No one says a word if there’s occasional screams, and while the place is a bit old and in a crappy part of town, it’s home. I live in the basement below the manager’s office; conveniently, it’s not on the blueprints registered with the town. Funny, that.

Retainers: Pair of brothers I picked up off the street. They were running a stupid shell game, and pretty good at it, even when they were clearly high. Conning a few of the smarter marks, even, though I ended up stepping in when they pissed off the wrong guy. Still not sure why. Sixth sense, I guess. Got them off the drugs and addicted to me instead. It works, and they’ve been loyal and more useful than anyone else has been in my little ‘empire’.

Influence: As a property owner and ‘model citizen’ I try to keep up with current events and politics of the mortal world. I figure better than being caught with my pants down. Consequently, as long as the events are at night, I have a tendency to show up. I’m relatively well known locally; all the better to know who to pay off.

Merits & Flaws
Merit: Enchanting Voice
Type: Physical
Cost: 2

I’d blame a brief stint in the choir as a kid, but more likely to be something from my sire. I don’t know, I didn’t really meet the guy. All I know is when I tell people to shut the fuck up, they tend to listen.

Merit: Early Riser
Type: Physical
Cost: 1

When I was mortal I used to rise with the sun. Discipline, they called it. I called it not wanting to go for a run when it was a hundred fucking degrees out. Regardless I guess some of that held over; my ‘early’ just has a different definition these days.

Merit: Additional Discipline
Type: Supernatural
Cost: 5

Heh. I was a drug dealer as a mortal, you know. Guess not much has changed there, but I used to be pretty good at it. Still am. You start to get a feel for people in that line of work. Know when and how to push to get a certain reaction. Usually one to send them spiraling. The only difference now is I can push a hell of a lot harder.

Merit: Bruiser
Type: Physical
Cost: 1

A friend of mine says I don’t walk like other people; that I stalk. Maybe there’s some truth to that. I know my place in the world--and it’s above the fucking mortals. They know it, too. I will admit I enjoy the fear

Flaw: Beacon of the Unholy
Type: Supernatural
Bonus: 2

At first it was amusing. Then it just got very old. I enjoy people screaming, but not just merely by looking at me. Fucking religious fanatics. Josey thinks maybe it was because I was Embraced on holy ground of some form; I don’t buy it, but I guess most of the US was owned by the Native Americans at some point. For all I know it could have been holy to them, once.

Flaw: Enemy
Type: Social
Bonus: 3

You ever fuck someone you’re not supposed to, and then you realize after the fact how bad of an idea it was? It was like that. Some kid, maybe 17 or 18; I don’t care what his ID said he definitely wasn’t 21. Anyway, we were at a club, he was grinding against me… How was I supposed to know he was the favorite Grandson of the fucking Prince? I take what’s offered, we have a good time, and next time I see him he’s scared out of his mind and telling me to run. So I do. Heh, I still haven’t set foot back in Louisiana. He was a good fuck though.

Flaw: Tic/Twitch
Type: Physical
Bonus: 1

Bad habit, I know. Josephina used to bitch about it when I still ran with her. Just gotta have something to do with my hands, and you twirl a blade just right you get all sorts of fun reactions. People are either intimidated or turned on, and either is good in my book.

Flaw: Recruitment Target
Type: Social
Bonus: 1

Going back to that fuck in Louisiana. Turns out, the Prince has a bit of a reputation. And more than a few enemies. So while she’s hunting me, some old asshole wants to recruit me. Imagine that, a Sabbat in the Camarilla. My money is on them being old lovers, you have to aspire to that level of pettiness. Needless to say though, I ain’t interested, and while I appreciate the gifts sometimes a guy wants to open a box and not find some dude’s severed head.

Rituals
Name: Illuminate the Trail of Prey
Level: 1
Description: This ritual causes the path of the subject’s passing to glow in a manner that only the vampire can see. The tracks shine distinctly, but only to the eyes of the caster. Even airplane trajectories and animal tracks shine with unhealthy light. The ritual is nullified if the target wades through or immerses himself in water, or if he reaches the destination of his journey. The caster must burn a length of white satin ribbon that has been in her possession for at least 24 hours for this ritual to take effect. System: The thaumaturge must have a mental picture of or know the name of her prey. The individual’s wake glows with a level of brightness dependent on how long it has been since he passed that way — old tracks burn less brightly, while fresh tracks blaze.

Location: 1850 Pebble Rd Charleston, SC 29407
Description: Crappy little apartment complex I bought a couple of decades back. It’s old, brick, and basically in the ghetto. Primarily people that can’t afford to live elsewhere, illegals, drug addicts, and similar ilk. Makes it perfect for me to kip out in the basement of the manager’s office and not be bothered, and people tend to keep to themselves.

Appearance
Tight pants, leather jacket, occasional bits of silver jewelry but always tasteful. There’s the faintest trace of a Boston accent when he’s angry, but it tends towards neutral the rest of the time. Think thug, or drug dealer, and you’re not far off for the general impression he makes. He moves like a predator, someone trained and half-feral, and when he’s really pissed his face goes cold. People underestimate him as just a bruiser sometimes, but there’s a cunning there that’s as swift as any other vamp.

Background
I was born in 1938. Boston. My Ma came over from Ireland when she was just a baby; my Grandparents were here as immigrants, fleeing starvation--or at least the Irish half was. I don’t tend to think much about the German half, I only met them once. I had a pretty normal childhood. Standard shit, get called a Leprechaun, asked about pots of gold; you break a few noses and people learn to shut the fuck up about it. We weren’t well off, but then, who was back then?

Pa died in the war, my Grandparents merely to age. Ma did her best. I was a wild child, always getting into trouble or scrapes. Did some time for drug running for a local gang. You know, petty shit really. You want the honest truth, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed fucking people up, watching them spiral further and further down. I enjoyed the few times I had to resort to violence, too, whether it was someone that tried to stiff me or merely owed me money.

Maybe my head’s fucked up, I don’t know. Got out and went right back to it, but this time selling my own product. It was good money. Ma asked, but didn’t really want to know. I didn’t tell her. I got pretty good at it; at selling shit, yeah, but also at violence. The years went by like a blur. Hell, sometimes I don’t know how it all happened. I ended up in charge of a gang; not that I’d have accepted anything less. Running the streets, shaking people down, selling drugs. It felt like home to me, so yeah, my head’s probably just fucked up. I never claimed to be a good guy.

I kept to my streets, earned respect, punished fuckups, paid off people that needed to be paid off--how I avoided the Vietnam War, as an aside--and generally thrived. I don’t know when or what my sire saw in me, but he saw something. Potential, I guess, and maybe he was right. I’ve certainly settled into this vamp thing better than most, and fuck, I love it.

The years pass. I get out of school in the 50s and go into the business full time, and the 60s pass in a haze of drugs and sex and music. The 70s though, that’s when things get interesting. Because in the 70s, I died.

I knew it was coming, too. I was seeing shadows all the time, felt like I was being followed. Not paranoia if they really are out to get you. I come ‘home’ one day--by home I mean the gang ‘headquarters’, so to speak--and when I open the doors there’s just blood, and flesh, and bits of bone. I ain’t never seen anything like it. I can smile about it now but back then I was just pissed. I tore through that place, pretending I couldn’t feel those pieces under my boots still breathing.

Then… I found him. Or at least, his back. Next thing I remember is a glimpse of his eyes and then nothing, I’m out. Josephina tells it like I was picked special, like he had a fascination with me. Have to wonder why I woke up alone then.

I didn’t figure things out on my own, of course. I stumbled home, and the next day I met Josey. Josephina. My ‘stand in sire’; one of his childer. She told me what I was, what happened, what my sire’s name was (Demidicus Michaelides, yes, seriously), and helped teach me. I’m not upset at any of it, though those first few years were interesting. Mostly I just wonder why the hell he picked me.

These days of course I’m on my own, though I talk to Josey now and then. I traveled a bit, found myself coming to love the South. Settled in Charleston. Went back to my old ways, largely, with a few differences. I attend the ritae I can, and own an old apartment complex. Between that and the drug trade I do pretty well. The years might have passed but some things sure haven’t changed. I pay off the people that need to be paid off, I break a few kneecaps, drain a few mortals.

I don’t think this is what Ma had in mind for me but hey, I’m happy. I know how to act serious, don’t get me wrong. On the job or in a dangerous situation I’m as professional as they come, but outside of that… Well, you only live twice.

Goals
Goals? Well shit. Meet my sire, figure this Vicissitude thing out and get better at it, create a Vohzd. Maybe take over a city. Heh, who’d think of me as an Archbishop? Whatever. I just want to enjoy my unlife. Keep dealing, keep fucking, keep indulging. This Gehenna thing… I don’t know. A lot of smart people believe in it, so hey, maybe if I can find out some proof or a way to deal with the Antediluvians; but how likely is that? I’m just some Neonate.

They are quite the particular thing, aren't they?  I myself enjoy them quite a bit.  Nice to have your eye (or two... or possibly more, if we are talking Tzimisce creations.. hrm...)

Intriguing! Tagging this so I can come back and give it a more thorough look over when I have more time.

Always great to see you Locke!  Looking forward to it.

Thank you everyone for the applications and interest so far.   Know we should be able to sit down Thursday to go over the appe we have at that point.

Hey STs. I feel this is a very player driven game, so I'm wondering what kind of PCs you're looking for and what kind are coming in so far. I'm feeling kinda lost tbh, because Sabbat games can go a few different ways, depending.

Hey there,

Thank you for the question, we're always happy to talk shop. I'll be honest, a lot of the 'vagueness' is intentional as we have quite a few possible avenues to take; we're primarily waiting to see what interests players and what they end up playing as, if that makes sense. As you noted, this is extremely player driven which is while we're somewhat hands off insofar as strict plot lines in the recruitment thread. If it helps, additionally know the plan is to organize the game as a semi-guided sandbox where players can interact with each other and write their own interactions while also participating in calendar-based 'missions' that will be pushing to cooperatively advance the story.

Sabbat can vary fairly heavily in scope or interest or motivation, and those disparate connections coming together to deal with various issues is always a treat. They have many facets from being a peculiar, religious sect, to being known for extreme acts of gore and violence, to being quite cunning in destabilizing existing power systems. Any of these directions and more are workable for character concepts.

Mainly what we don't want to see are copy-cat Camarilla, vampires that otherwise defy Sabbat core ideals (ie bleeding-heart sensitive romantic sweet-heart types... unless they truly are deranged in being so) or characters that aren't really going to be worthwhile in a writing-forum setting (ie, my character doesn't talk or interact with people / complete loner, or they don't have much purpose beyond chasing another with a chainsaw on command).

As far as what has been submitted, we're keeping the first post up to date with applications or concepts that have been submitted in order to hopefully give people a quick glimpse of where people's thoughts are at. While we're open to anything that hasn't already been explicitly talked about (eg, the banned clans, bleeding-hearts, etc), we'd love to have some really strong 'core' Sabbat characters. Sabbat backbone types that are active and fit into the sect quite nicely, whether that's through diabolical politicking, arranging extravagant blood feasts, or are simply the type to revel in keeping the Camarilla down as a team. In short: active, engaged, and oriented to the scene, in whatever particular way they connect with.

Hopefully that helps!

Rummy Tum Tum

Thanks, this was helpful. I think I might lean towards politicking and philosophizing :-)

I sent in a rough draft of my application! We'll see how it goes! (^^)

This looks like it could be a lot of fun! I'd love to see a good Sabbat game exploring the themes of the sect.

I have a couple of Sabbat concepts in mind already - a Tzimisce on the Path of the Feral Heart who draws inspiration from animals as much as from the spectrum of human bodies, and a Tractor antitribu author who manipulates humans into tragedy - but I'll see what else I can come up with tonight.

So, I've been reading my copy of V20, and it raises some questions about Humanity and Paths of Enlightenment:

  • The book says that most vampires, even in the Sabbat, have Humanity rather than a Path.
  • It also says that any vampire with Conviction instead of Conscience is obviously a monster to any but the most fleeting interaction.
It seems that any Sabbat character with Humanity will have it at about 1, which is described as a "barely sentient monster living in a charnel house". Meanwhile, a character on a Path seems to be barred from any social interaction with mortals other than abducting and eating them.

How will this be handled in this game? It's one thing to be an inhuman monster that preys on humanity, but taking the rules literally seems to mean that we can't have any real interaction with the mortal society of Charleston at all, which would be a shame with all the great history stuff in the blurb!

Yes and no,  looking through it.  Paths are not to be taken as a crutch to avert low humanity.  That indeed playing a sabbat or another character on a path that is not humanity.   For as much as it sucks it is a game of tragedy and one losing their humanity is such.

However, onto paths and being on one.   That one must have a well-rounded background and sensible reason why the path fits in the concept of the character.   As it is a merit for each path that costs 3 points each to take.   Also, wondering where you got the humanity rating 1 and also the path's other than eating and abducting them.   I am at loss at that.

Anyways it is Intimate Ink and Xurtan decision and ruling, there the ST's of the game.

Standard disclaimer that ultimately this is all up to the GMs, but that being said it is interesting to discuss and I think trying to clarify and make sense of white wolf rules is never a bad thing so here goes!

That's not quite what it says, it says any level of scrutiny which I think logically implies a type of scrutiny that would be capable of determining something is inhuman. The next line also mentions specifically other vampires and werewolves and creatures who can detect the undead. There is an assumption that could be made a little clearer I think, that this applies to those beings who are capable of detecting the supernatural in the first place. It does not mean that a character on a path sets off every alarm when she walks down the street and the people flee in terror before her.

Of course anyone who gets to know a character on a path will probably figure out in short order that there is something very not right with their moral compass, but that's another thing entirely.

I think this contradicts what the book says. The Sabbat as a whole might be lower in humanity than the Camarilla but they wouldn't be on this path if they couldn't maintain it to some degree. As long as they aren't literally stalking the night cackling with glee about all the murder they're gonna do they can risk an occasional humanity roll. Once you drop to about 4 or so you really aren't rolling in any situation that doesn't involve killing, and even the Sabbat aren't going to kill all of their food.

Of course then again most Sabbat will almost inevitably become monsters, but you know that's just how they roll. :)

Hi there,

I am just tossing in our perspective here to the questions at hand.  We certainly appreciate the lively talk around it; game engagement is never a bad thing.

In terms of humanity, let me address the sort of round-about question and say we aren’t restricting the number of Sabbat on paths.  We are quite happy to accept all vampires on a path provided it is supported by their concept (though will also accept humanity concepts).  This is, in some ways, a logistical component since shovelheads embraced and used for foot soldiers don’t usually make particularly interesting (or long lasting) player characters.  That’s not to say that they can’t, or we won’t look at a shovelhead concept – it does mean that we will look for something about them that will give them some longevity.  (If someone wants to play a simple shine-bright, fade-out shovelhead we will be happy to talk NPCs once the game is in gear.)

As for interactions with humans, that wholly depends on the vampire and the interaction.  It’s clear enough that as a very easy generalization Sabbat see themselves as quite above humans on the food-chain (quite literally).  There certainly are still opportunities to interact with them, whether as a food source, ghoul, potential embrace, torture/research object, or more along the lines of strategy and manipulation.  While the Sabbat may criticize the Camarilla’s flavor of politics, there certainly are those among them (such as many Lasombra,) who value their own style of intrigue.  In fact, several of the Paths have conditions that might compel a Vampire follower to take notice of a human if the circumstances lined up.

I’d ultimately say you will be deciding a good degree of your style of human interaction by the character you apply with.  As long as you also can demonstrate their perspective is convincingly Sabbat, they will be very welcome.

Hope this helps,
Iink

I freaking love Sabbat.

Question... I'm sure you have a reason for not allowing certain clans, but I'm genuinely curious about why you don't want any Salubri Antitribu.  If you can't say without ruining plot, that's cool, just let me know.  The reason I ask is because the Salubri (specifically the warrior caste) are my absolute favorite clan in all of VtM.

Hey there,

Apologies if this isn't my best post,  I am writing it hopped up on benadryl, pain killers,  and my ears decorated with wasp stings.  Fun times.  If I miss the mark completely let me know and I can try again later.

My concern with Salubri Antitribu was their tendency to not particularly buy into the Sabbat, and instead use them solely as a vengeance vehicle for making Roasted Tremere and Cam-Kabobs.  I want to allow the chronicle to explore more political and (the very bloody) religious aspects of the Sabbat if that is where our applicants bend.  Additionally, I want to allow the potential of focusing on other forces at times, such as Garou.  I did not want anyone to be wholly locked into a concept where they had one and only vested interest to the Sabbat's many.

Depending on where the game goes,  we may consider a Salubri antitribu NPC at some point.

Hope this helps.   We obviously would live to have you if you can find interest in a clan that fits.

Best,
Iink

Yes, this helps a lot! I believe that interactions between humans and vampires can be very valuable in a vampire game - they help to define the ways in which a character relates to their own humanity, and highlights the ways in which they're still similar and the ways in which they're different. I have a lot of ideas for how my proposed character would interact with the mortals of Charleston.

How do mortals handle such interaction, though? The book notes that vampires on a Path of Enlightenment can't pass for human under most circumstances, and they can't spend blood to give themselves human characteristics such as normal skin tone and breathing. How obvious is it to mortals that the person they're dealing with isn't human, even if they don't know exactly what they are? Can such vampires go into crowded areas, such as hunting in nightclubs, without causing a panic?

Also, this being Elliquiy: can vampires on Paths still have sex, in anything like a normal human fashion?
If you're such an iconoclast, where were you when we trashed Constantinople?

Hey there,

That was something we were actually discussing and pondering how to handle. What we came down to is that as long as you don't draw attention to yourself (either intentionally, by clan, by flaw or by having attention drawn to you) that we're fine with humans generally remaining unaware of a player's nature, even on a Path. In a PbP game--and especially one on E--it just started to look a little ridiculous the more we glanced at it, as human interaction will likely play a decently large part in some respects. What works for a small 3-5 player tabletop game with a distinct plot doesn't work quite as well for a larger game by post in a semi-sandbox world, we felt.

As far as sex: Yes, Vampires are capable of ravenous horny fucking. Though it isn't necessarily a focus, it is still Elliquiy.
