Cool, a toxicologist! My character's going to be very happy making her acquaintance... Too bad she's an ex gangster!
It is "Torment". It is that which draws all tormented souls to you. The flesh knows it suffers, even when the mind has forgotten. And so you wear the rune always.

I think we have a good amount of people to pre-maturely start. If people want to join this game later, then they are free to. I think I may need to go poke Foxy just to see if she is still interested since she was the first applicant.

Um, Hello! I would like to try to be a part of this roleplay, if you don't mind. ^.^
I want to ask before I post anything too detailed: Would be okay if my hero could see up to about 6 minutes into someone's future if he come into physical contact with that person's blood? Oddly specific question, I know, but it sounds like it would be interesting to combat against.

I feel that's a banned ability in the list. Precognition is not allowed.

Yep. It's banned as "Premonition/Foresight."

Hello hello. I've been lurking for a bit but I've finally decided  to ask: How would an irredeemable sociopath with Alex Mercer like body horror powers fare? The powers have been a bit of a sticking point as I want to get her down to a reasonable level but I'm having trouble deciding what to drop. As of right now she's something of a living dirty bomb with the ability to knit her skin and bones into weapon and armor and sprout open sores that spout necrotic flames that rot things instead of burning them and that can also infect people turning them into shambling bombs that further spread the flames and- you can see my dilemma. I guess I wanted to know how to curtail it, depending on what you were looking for - or if you even wanted another female character at all.

Edit: I'm thinking something like a mix of Alex Mercer from Prototype and a B.O.W. from Resident Evil if that helps any.

I always allow up to three females or three males. Four females to three males or Four males to three females. Because we have two females, I will allow one more. However, what you are describing sounds like something out of a B-horror movie/J-horror. It sounds extremely over-the-top. If you just wanted a symbiote like creature, then that is fine. But this genetic weapon/necromancer/parasite/plague. Definitely not. You have to choose a theme and stick with it. The theme prevents people from making over-the-top creations.

It's a hundred percent over the top, that's the trouble I'm having: I want to have my b-horror cake and eat it too. Speaking of symbiotes, though: What of the theme was just living weapon? Drop the flame nonsense and just make her solely able to form her body however she pleases. Like a symbiote but instead of an other organism it would be her own flesh and blood she would be forming into axes and spikes and such. Like an extreme version of marrow from the x-men, of you're familiar.

She could form her body and appendages however she pleases but the transformation isn't instantaneous and she can only do so much at once so she doesn't bleed out. Perhaps with an ability to eat people to gain more mass for more extreme transformations...?

Giving her the ability to produce weapons from her body parts and organs is fine. The eating people is what I am having trouble fitting into the theme. Because you can't seem to come up with a solid theme, when you talk about eating people and horror movie monster stuff, in a manner that is left field. It makes it over-the-top because you're asking to throw something into a concept that doesn't make sense. Maybe you're coming to the wrong game. What you are trying to present to this game that is inspired from Suicide Squad, belongs more in a game that deals specifically with the horror genre. If you aren't bringing a concept that would have worked in DC Comics here or even Marvel, then this is the wrong game for those kinds of concepts. You're at the wrong bakery.

I was thinking less a literal suicide squad pallet swap and more the breadth of super-villain concepts in general, in which horror elements are not a foreign idea. But I feel like I won't be welcome here, yea. All the best with your game.

You, as a person, I am sure would be very welcome here. I, as the GM, however, I have right to make certain decisions that not all players will find favorable for the purpose of protecting the integrity of the game and plot. Therefore, I am being very honest with you when I say your concept won't work. If that is all you wanted to bring to this game, then I am sorry that it didn't work out.

Okay. I wasn't sure if the rule was "no omnipotence" or "no future vision". I understand and will scrap the idea.
I do have another question, though. My entire villain idea was to make a guy who was part reptile? It was supposed to be a bit ambiguous whether he was a snake or a lizard, etc. I haven't seen anything saying that you were only interested in having humans in the RP, but I want to be sure.

You can make a part reptile guy. If that's the theme, then you have 5 power slots so it's not a big deal what reptile powers you have him have.

Nervous Skull

Hello, again. I think I have everything in order. Let me know what you think.

Legal Name: Gray Smith (-State Issued Surname-)
Codename/Nickname(s)/Alias: Vermin
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Criminal Record: Gray has charges of second degree murder, assault, theft, and has a reputation for smuggling illegal and/or dangerous contraband.
Character O/Os: He wouldn't know, he's a virgin. He's a bit body shy and has some trust issues, but if you manage to gain his trust, he's down to try whatever.
Player O/Os: I'm pretty open to a lot of things, but maybe no body horror in any sexual situations, please.

Height: 5'6”
Weight: 126 lbs
Build: Thin but toned.
Hair Color: White.
Eye Color: Brownish yellow. The whites of his eyes are more of a gray.
General Appearance: Gray's skin is tinted green as though he's sick. In addition to his skin color, he also has dark green scales littering his body. In places like his face, his scales are lightly speckled; growing thicker around the edges. His upper back, sides, shins, outer thighs, and neck are where his scales are thickest and resemble snake skin.
His unkempt hair is medium length and is often pulled into his face when he's trying to blend into the public. He has pointed teeth, with his canines being a tad longer than average, and clawed hands and feet. (If anyone is curious, he doesn't have a belly button or nipples. There is a divot where the belly button should be, though.)
Costume: When trying to blend in he wears a gray sweatshirt with teal stripes on the arms, a black beanie, a pair of (broken) headphones, worn jeans, old sneakers, and sometimes a scarf.
When he's on a smuggling job, he wears a special suit that he called in some connections to get. (It sort of qualifies as gadget but it's also an outfit so I'll only describe how it looks in this section.) The suit looks like a solid black sleeveless wetsuit with six black disks lining his back. He doesn't wear anything else on a job, thus any tools that he wants to bring get stored in his small zipper pockets on the thighs of the suit.

Face Claim: Unknown.

POWERS:

Projectile Acid: Gray has glands in his chest that produce a corrosive acid that he can project up to 50 feet away. The acid he produces eats through organic tissue, cloth, wood, and plastics. He can't eat through glass, stone, metal, or stone based materials. He himself is not affected by his acid.

Camouflage: Not unlike invisibility, Gray can become unrecognizable to the human eye. However the ability works best when he's standing still and he'll ultimately be more noticeable the faster he's moving. The longest he's ever been able to continuously use this ability is 12 minutes.

Teeth and Claws: Not quite a power, but not really equipment either. His claws can be used slashing and stabbing weapon for close quarter combat and his teeth are only typically used when someone gets too close.

EQUIPMENT:

Suit: Gray has a custom suit that looks like a wetsuit. This suit was made to sense when Gray goes into camouflage and do the same. This helps him be able to hide without having his clothes still be visible.

Suit Disks: Attached to the back of his suit there are six detachable disks. These disks create a small field that can camouflage whatever they are touching. (Note that the disks follow the same rule as his power, however because most items are static and don't move, it's never really been an issue.) The disks were mainly made to be used on smaller items but can work on larger items if there are numerous disks used. The field of affect per disk is about two feet wide, two feet long, and two feet tall. Fully charged, each disk can go for 15 minutes continuously, but can go for longer if you use them sparingly.

Lock Picks: Simple but practical. He keeps a small zipper pocket full of spares on his suit.

SKILLS:

Flexibility: Gray is quite flexible and can contort his body into ways that allow him to fit in small places.

Lock Picking: Be it that of a locked door, handcuffs, or a cage, Gray can pick the the lock with the right tools.

ADVANTAGES:

Nimble: He has quick reflexes and speed to help him out of tough situations.

Thick Skinned: Gray's skin is slightly thicker than most people's and is more resilient to bruising or cuts. His scales are even better at reducing the damage he takes, as his scales are impervious to sharp objects.

Street Smarts: Gray has lived on the streets of Raven City all his life and knows how to navigate it. He knows where to avoid, what buildings are heavily guarded, where it's relatively safe, and good way to get there.

Strategist: Gray often creates strategies to do jobs quietly and smoothly and makes plans up on the fly when things go south.

DISADVANTAGES:

Obvious Appearance: Gray can blend into crowds to a point, but he is still a green skinned mutant with scales, claws, and white hair. Yes, he can hide his face and cover his skin, but the thinner the crowd is, the more suspicious or downright obvious he looks.

Average Physical Strength: Gray isn't overly strong and in a world full of super strong heroes and villains, that can be dangerous. Long falls, explosions, projectiles, etc can be just as fatal as it would be for an average human.

Distrustful: For Gray's entire life, people had either feared him, were disgusted by him, or wanted something from him. He expects everyone to be in it for themselves and does his best to be distant because of it.

Backstory:

Somewhere in the bustling streets of Raven City is Antir Inum (Ant-er-I-numb) Labs; a small research facility that researches and studies the ecology of the animal kingdom. After hours, however, AIL's scientists have dedicated themselves to be what they think to be a better purpose. They had come to know all too well over the years that humans were overpopulating the world. And why wouldn't they? They were at the top of the food chain with no predator to completely overpower or outwit them. This overpopulation was ruining the ecology for every other living thing on the planet. Humans thriving ultimately meant widespread global extinction on a massive level.
Knowing this, the scientists reasoned that the logical precaution to take was to create a predator. A predator having the intelligence of a human and the spliced DNA of various animals, or as they called it, a “Greater Human”.
After a numerous amounts of trials and errors, they eventually had made a specimen that had survived its birth. Thrilled at their success, the scientists were quick to try to come up with the perfect genetic altercations to be make the Greater Human whilst studying their living subject to see what had worked and what had to be changed in the future.
The creature's head was tinted green and mostly resembled a human child's with the neck fading into a thick and stout snake body. Reptilian arms grew out from the sides and from the neck down the specimen had bright scales. It was not expected to live very long and was haphazardly called Reptilia instead of a proper subject name.
Reptilia continued to live and grow without dropping vitals, however, and by year three of its existence, its scales parted for more discolored skin in patches, its tail had split in half to form humanoid legs, its reptilian arms reshaped into humanoid arms, between the legs had formed male genitalia, and white hair had sprouted on its scalp. It had even begun speaking. The scientists were impressed with Reptilia's progress and continued to study it while creating prototypes for the Greater Human based off of it.
Unfortunately for the AIL scientists, someone from the company funding them finally caught wind of what they had been doing. This person, instead of reporting this to the company or police, decided to steal the mutant the scientists had created and sell it out of greed. And that is what they did.
For months the young mutant was juggled from person to person who wanted to own or use him. (-At some point it learned that it was a he.-)
He bit and scratched at people to attempt to free himself but his violence only caused him to be sold to a crueler place meant for violent animals. This cruel place was an underground dog fighting ring.
There, they poked him and starved him to make him blood thirsty for the fights. These men had been the first to witness the mutant child's ability to spit acid as well as the first people to die from it. With this ability, the child escaped and the traumatic event remains the earliest memory Gray has.
Being a supposedly abandoned mutant child in Raven City went as well as anyone would expect. He bounced around from orphanages, to the streets, to human trafficking rings (-You'd be surprised how often it happened.-), to homeless shelters, to the streets again.
He didn't have money growing up and was quick to do what ever he had to to survive. With his powers, he started taking underhanded jobs; ones that involved sneaking into places and stealing. Each job he took, he finished without being caught or directly seen. This earned him attention with bigger names in the criminal underbelly of the city. He performed heists and jobs that involved items that he could carry himself as he claimed he worked best alone. To better prove his worth to employers, he pulled some strings and acquired a suit and gadgets that had his camouflaging power; allowing him to do jobs more effectively and on his own.
Soon he was the person you would call if you wanted something smuggled to you quietly that only someone with deep pockets and big plans could afford. As he often wore a gray hoodie, he was nicknamed Gray by people seeking him out for a job.
As his name spread amongst criminals, acknowledgment of his presence had spread to the public as “the villain who could slip through the smallest cracks”. The RCPD had no comment and the reporters had a field day with the idea. They took to calling him “Vermin, the High End Runner” and people worried over whether he could be stopped. As far as he and the public knew, the answer was no, until Live Wire stepped into the picture.
This electricity producing hero was easy to outsmart towards the beginning. But as time passed she learned his tricks, and though she never managed to turn him into the police, she did ruin any heist she encountered him on. Battles between them were closely matched and often he had to give up on the job to save himself from being captured.
Going back on deals made with rich and powerful villains had put a target on his back; adding to the money and credibility he was losing. Effectively, he was cornered.

Current Story:

OCO knew from reports that Vermin was failing at jobs at the hands of Live Wire and as such would be desperate to get work. Whether it was to prove his credibility or for money, they were sure he would take any job thrown his way. So they set up a fake job and prepared their task force to ambush him. He unwittingly took the bait and was swiftly captured. They gave him a choice: To be an infiltrator for the OCO and get protection, supervised freedom, and favors (-within reason-) or go to a high security prison and live in solitary confinement for the rest of his life. He choose the former and was placed in the HIT Squad.

Personality: Gray is sharp tongued and grumpy a large portion of the time. He's negative and sarcastic in hopes that it will intimidate people and scare them off. He doesn't know how to handle people on a business level but if you can get past all the sass and mistrust, he's a rather calm (-and begrudgingly caring-) guy.

Character Flaws:

Appearance: He is cagey about being a mutant. His entire job was to not be seen and he'd grown accustomed to no one knowing aside from a select group. Comments and long stares, (though probably unavoidable,) irritate and demoralize him..

Heroic Rival: Live Wire, like her name suggests, can create electricity. Her weapon is metal string that she uses like a whip or rope. She channels her powers through the strings to shock and paralyze her foes without causing horrible injury. She does her best not to hurt others more than necessary and is known to paralyze limbs; leaving her enemies not able fight back. Fights with her tend to be fast paced even though her fighting style tends to drag out fights.

The relationship between Live Wire and Vermin at face value more closely resembles a sibling rivalry than it does a rivalry between mortal enemies. She is bubbly and full of quips and he is irritated and sarcastic. However both hold a certain amount of resentment towards each other. Live Wire feels that she has lost because she couldn't bring Vermin to justice and Vermin is still holding a grudge over her ruining his life.

This CS is approved. You are free to post it to the character thread. You can join us in the OOC, and to get your character introduced. It is optional whether or not you want to write how the OCO approached your character (see the other writer's intro posts as examples of this). Otherwise, you can start on 2 January where the GM post starts. It is entirely up to you. Welcome to the game.  :-)

Alright, thanks for the response.  I thought I posted but I guess I spazzed on that.  I'll blame it on finals (over with!).  I think for most of my character concepts I'd have to work out some potential issues for a game like this.  Is it alright to go through PM's to hammer some of that stuff out?

I made the mistake of bumping the old recruitment thread. This is the correct one with the recruitment links on it and the current cast. I know I have had two players give me interest but I have yet to see CSes. We are looking for two villains, and are going to be looking for 2 until I get some completed CSes.

I'm potentially interested with a loosely hulk-like concept. Not so much 'stronger than everything ever' as much as 'turn into a big monster and go on rampages'. Is that workable here?

Yes. I allow most things as long as they aren't Mary Sue as you described in your example. I see no issue with a hulk concept. As long as your story makes some sort of fictional sense lol.
