Hey all.

With the unfortunate and premature end of my Mutant Epoch game, I find myself considering possible alternative game options. None of these are set in stone, and I may very well decide not to run a game after all, but rather focus on the ones I'm presently involved in; however, if I do decide to pick up a second game, it's likely to be one of the following:

  • Game: The Witcher
  • System: The Witcher RPG
  • Players: 3-4
  • Details: This game would take place between the events of Assassin of Kings and the Wild Hunt, with players taking on the roles of their own custom characters, all stated out using the system provided in the core rulebook. They'd have the chance to interact with some iconic characters, but their adventures are largely their own.

  • Game: Warhammer 40K
  • System: Dark Heresy 2E, or Wrath & Glory
  • Players: 3-4
  • Details: Depending on the wants of the players, this game could be either horror-and-intrigue focused, or more action orientated: this preference would dictate whether I used Dark Heresy or Wrath & Glory as the system for the game. It would also determine who the characters are, when the game takes place (pre-Cadia or post-Cadia), and where in the Imperium they're fighting.

  • Game: Twilight Imperium
  • System: D6 Space
  • Players: 3-5
  • Details: For those who don't know, Twilight Imperium is a sci-fi epic board game created by Fantasy Flight Games, and follows the exploits of various different star empires that are vying for control of the Imperial Throne after the previous occupants were betrayed and murdered by their subjects. The system of choice, D6 Space, is free to download, and is the same system used for games like WEG Star Wars. This game would be part sci-fi Game of Thrones, part space opera, and could follow characters from any race - though the focus is likely to be on the humans from the Federation of Sol.

  • Game: Name TBC
  • System: OVA: Animé Roleplaying Game
  • Players: 3-6
  • Details: The OVA system has quickly become one of my favourite rulesets for playing animé stories, and ever since it's release I've been working on a story and campaign that would blend elements of all the animé shows and manga that I loved. Though it would take too long to share the details, the short-version is that two galactic powers are vying for control of the galaxy - the Jurai Empire, and the Union of Systems - in which specific individuals are being hunted down for the strange powers they possess. It contains: magic, mechs, space battles, animé tropes, and is large enough in planned scale that I can incorporate elements of different shows if desired (and if workable).
Thoughts?

With Warhammer, do you have a preference for the kind of system? One is more action-orientated, and the other is more focused on bringing out the grim darkness of the setting by making it quite deadly.

OVA is my current favourite of those options, but I won't be throwing up setting details for that unless it proved popular as an idea, since there is a fair bit (and I still don't intend on sharing all of it upfront).

Interested in the storyline for Warhammer 40K.

But I enjoy Anime Games too! But have not tried the OVA system. Always willing to learn. Any hints as to types of characters you can play?

The Union boasts a number of races and types - the anthropomorphic kinds and various, as well as magic users - where the Jurai are transhuman in the sense of being stronger, faster, and generally physically superior to most other races. However, they lack any inherent magical ability, and need to wear devices that allows them temporary, and minor, access to magical energies.

So that's one for OVA!

If I get a minimum of three people asking after it, I'll post up more setting information.

I'd be interesting in... Pretty much the first three myself, I don't speak Twilight Imperium, but I am really interested in picking up a copy sometime. Preference for 40k would probably lean towards Dark Heresy.

Looks like OVA is popular. I'll get a proper recruitment thread up for it soon.
