    ~ THE SHATTERED STAR ~
    A Pathfinder Adventure

    IMPORTANT ADDENDUM:  Please notify me in PM if there are players whose exclusion from the game will result in your non-participation.  Here is a sample note:  "If _______ is not admitted into the game, I will respectfully withdraw."  Also, the reverse.  PM if there are players whose inclusion into the game will result in your non-participation.  No need to defame anyone, though.  Here is a sample note, "If _____ is admitted into the game, I will respectfully withdraw."  I really don't care why you feel the way that you feel, but I should probably know that you feel that way, capiche?

    Synopsis:  We search for a magical doohickey.

    QuoteFrom the ashes of Thassilon, an ancient power shall rise again!
    The ancient empire of the runelords may be long dead, yet the legacy of Thassilon continues to haunt the frontier realm of Varisia. With the rise of one runelord only narrowly thwarted, Korvosa reeling after the curse of the Crimson Throne nearly brought the city to its knees, and Riddleport rebuilding after a close call with a falling star, the people of Varisia fear that the greatest threat to their land has yet to play its hand. When agents of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge in Magnimar learn of a fragmented artifact scattered throughout the lands of old Thassilon, it falls to a new band of heroes to step in and gather up the seven fragments of this Shattered Star. For if the greatest prize of Thassilon's first ruler cannot save Varisia... what can?

    The Shattered Star Adventure Path is a first in Paizo's Adventure Path line—a complete campaign set after the events of previous Adventure Paths. Shattered Star serves as a spiritual sequel to Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, and Second Darkness alike, yet it delves into a brand new storyline, making it as good as a group's first introduction to Varisia as a return to old stomping grounds. The Shattered Star Adventure Path focuses on the hunt for a sundered artifact, its pieces scattered throughout the land in some of its most dangerous and notorious dungeons—with the exception of the city of Magnimar, every location featured in the Shattered Star Adventure Path is brand new and filled with both dangers and treasures alike!

    Status:  Currently seeking a party of 4-6 players.

    Notice:  I am running this game is because there are a lot of Pathfinder players on E, but not a lot of Pathfinder GMs.  If you are currently in one of my games, please consider allowing others the opportunity to play in this one.  I do have favorites, though.

    Character Creation Rules:

    • 25-point buy
    • Max HP at first level/roll subsequent levels
    • 2 background skills
    • 2 traits (one must be a campaign trait; no drawbacks)
    • half starting gold;
    The GM prefers attractive characters over ugly ones and normal races over abnormal ones.  Please no small races.

    New Players:  New players are welcome.  I am happy to help new players create characters and learn the rules.

    GETTING STARTED:  As the Shattered Star Adventure Path begins, the PCs should already be in the city of Magnimar with some sort
    of connection to the Pathfinder Society. If you're using the Shattered Star Player's Guide, the campaign traits that your players can choose
    from within that document are tailor-made to provide new characters with reasons why they're in Magnimar and why they're new members of the Pathfinder Society (or at the very least have good reasons to be looked upon as allies by Sheila Heidmarch).

    Whether or not the PCs all know each other as the campaign begins is mostly irrelevant, for each PC receives a brief and compelling invitation from Sheila Heidmarch at the start of this adventure.

    The Invitation at Issue:

    Posting Style:  Check my other game threads to see how I run a game so you aren't surprised.  I expect players to post at least once a week.  You are not required to post lengthy posts -- just enough to reasonably convey what you want to do within a round.  Sometimes, I'm just going to want a list.

    Sex Stuff:  Acceptable between players, but I run my games pretty straight-laced.

    Character Submission:  Your character doesn't need a long background.  Your character's origin doesn't have to be interesting or intriguing.  Do not put a lot of effort into it.  If you and I have had a tiff before, whether actual or imaginary, please talk to me in PM before you start working on a character.

    Your character background can be as long as the blurb given in the campaign trait you choose.  If you must know, I admit players by asking myself the following questions:

    1.  Do I like this player?  If no, not admitting;
    2.  Do I like this player's character's picture?  If no, not admitting;
    3.  Do I like this player's character's sex appeal?  If no, not admitting;
    4.  Do I like this player's race?  If no, not admitting; and,
    5.  Do I like this player's character?  If no, not admitting.

    In that order!  I -almost- don't care about backgrounds.  You should know that I am not very likely to read it.  I know, I know.  You have to read all of my shit and I won't read all of yours.  It's unfair.  Additionally, there is this whole thing about my choosing players based on my subjective likes and dislikes and stuff, and I get how some of you might find that unfair, but I pretty much don't care about that either.  So sorry, but not sorry.

    Character Sheet: Not necessary for admission.

    Variant Rules:  Initiative has been completely overhauled.  All enemies operate off of the same initiative.  The first round will consist of actions taken by allies who have a higher initiative than the enemies, then the enemies will act, and then all allies will be able to act in one huge initiative block.  Following rounds will simply consist of two initiative blocks: enemy actions and party actions.  Turn order is NOT respected.  Furthermore, you may perform free actions freely throughout, but those free actions may only be performed within six-seconds (since that's the length of the round).

    Leaving the Game:  Sometimes you gotta leave the game because life/work/depression/animosity-towards-the-GM.  That's fine.  However, please tell me, preferably in PM, that you're leaving so that I can find a replacement.  Since that can be a daunting challenge for some, I have taken the liberty of drafting up a sample note that you can send me in PM should you need to leave:  "Because of reasons, I gotta go, Phantom.  I will/will not be back (circle one).  Thanks and sorry."

    Thanks for the interest and compliments.  If you have any questions, please ask.

    Do not be discouraged if I don't answer immediately: I have more difficulty posting on E during the weekends.

    Keeping an eye on this, but I have a question: is this new player friendly? My introduction to D&D is 5e, so I would have a lot to learn, but seems interesting.

    I would say that it is.  The characters are first-level characters, so they aren't overly complicated.

    However, I have found that sometimes new players are a little shy.  They don't really ask for support from the GM or the other players.  So, if you want to apply, I would recommend that you be very vocal about the things that you don't understand.  The other players are always happy to help.

    There are some differences, but a lot of things are very similar. If you have questions, ask. ^_^

    Well, as you said PF games here are rare, and this is one I haven't played, which is rarer still. So I'd like to apply to this.

    Leah Goldflower
    Character Sheet HP: 8 AC 13

    Background: Born to house Niroden, Leah was destined to be married to some older nobleman in order to secure her house a favorable alliance or trade deal. Leah always resented her fate, taking every chance to fight against it. One day, when she was twelve, her nanny died mysteriously, and nearly instantly a replacement arrived. Aleucia Goldflower. A beautiful and seductive woman to whom Leah instantly felt a connection.

    Aleucia turned out to be a witch whose purpose in the castle had been to educate Leah in the arts as demanded by what turned out to be their shared patron, one of the elder fey. For years, Aleucia taught Leah, and on her 16th birthday, the elder saw it fit to grant Leah her full power. That day, Leah snuck out of the family mansion, taking only the clothes on her back, and some jewelry her mother had given her, and she ran. She sold most of her jewelry for food, supplementing it by helping out in inns and taverns in exchange for a few days food and lodgings. In the end she reached her goal, the pathfinder society.

    You should put the command "padding=5" next to your "img" command.  Make it look like "img padding=5" between brackets.  It will add a space between your image and your text.

    I’ll go ahead and admit you since I started this campaign in response to your post in the GM-wanted thread.

    I haven’t reviewed your sheet, and I don’t know anything about witches.  I am also trying to get used to your character sheet—it is new to me.

    What are iconic heroes?

    I think those are the Paizo prefabs. Like Amiri the barbarian and Valeros.

    If you prefer me to do a Myth-weavers sheet, I'm happy to. I'm just so used to hero lab as it does all my math for me.

    Let me chew on your character sheet for a bit before I make that call.

    BlackStone, I would say no.  Why do you ask?  Do you need help with a character?

    You are welcome to apply, but you ARE in two of my games, Callie.  I sort of created this game for other players.

    Fair enough. How about I stand in as first alternate in case you lose another player? Or 2nd. Looking for an excuse to build an outcast noblemen rogue wit a dog!

    Submitting a idea,  if need another to fit since in a game already of PP's.  A idea WIP

    Lady Adjuana Santanreal a human, ranger dandy.    Adjuana declares who says a ranger has to be a gruff weathered stoic loner.   Being a noble daughter escaping a betroth marriage to a cad.   A heroine pushing the edges of what society deems acceptable.   A spark for adventure, a wanderlust,  a familiarity with courts, a fresh front man voice other then those smart ass sorcerers or prissy bards.

    Well then if all of that is what you need to fill out your little group.  Then I am your lady.  An the nature I bring is a force of nature.

    Wallen Drake Shadetree was born with another family name, one of noble antecedents. Then puberty gave him a surprise that most didn't get, his demonic blood emerged and he was quietly moved to the shadows of the family and eventually disinherited with a small but heavy purse of gold and a family dog. Then told to never darken his family's home again. Luckily his mother got him apprenticed to a locksmith. He lurks in the shadows, the expert that folks never acknowledge to get a lock made proper or to ensure a key 'isn't lost'.

    Basically a locksmith who is trying to find a way back into the halls of power and force his family to acknowledge him. Perhaps by doing a favor for the Venture Captain of Magnimar. The society didn't judge the demon twisted as bad as others.. and they always need a good locksmith.
