"We?" Who is "We?" You have no say! Stop confusing the newbs. :P :P :P

As far as I am aware, Tieflings are indeed allowed, but only as long as they are descendants from long, long ago. As in, no "My father was an Elemental" sorta deal. Since the whole "Planar Shut Down," getting new juice has been difficult, so...they are exceedingly rare, at least and much weakened. However, if you wish to play a Tiefling, your best bet would be to PM us privately so we can work something out. Flint knows more about the theological and metamagical limitations of the world than I do.

Gee Thanks a bunch for thinking I am newbie but I do Understand THAC0. Ravenloft pffl... I remember using the Chainmail Boxed set and then waiting for the 1st DMG and MM to come out after getting my hands on the original AD&D.

Oh Vergil and Jeflint The classes for my Character are 2 levels of Ranger with the  transporter and trapper archetype and a level of Vigilante. Shirish is her name and is a Half-orc.

InnocentSynn

Name:  Bartholomew Fletcher.  Bart, Barty, Fletch
Sex: Male
Age:  29

Race:  Human
Class:  Fight, Phalanx
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Level: 3
EXP: 3,300 / 6000

Basic Appearance:

Bartholomew stands at a solid 6'3" tall with broad shoulders and a rugged, rough appearance to him.  No matter how often he shaves, he always has a five o'clock shadow and his curly black hair reaches down to the base of his neck.  When he removes his armor, one can see that he is a lean man with corded muscles running down his arms and solid abs.  His back bares the scars of a whip across it and his arms have several scars that were gotten from his training as a youth.  The scars he speaks of freely, the whip marks he never speaks of to anyone.  He is most often seen wearing his armor and when outside of it, seems to favor simple, comfortable pants and shirts of darker tones.

Personality:

Bart tends to be a bit short with people, or at least that's what most seem to think on interacting with him.  In reality, he simply has a gruff demeanor and rarely says more than strictly needed.  If asked a question that can be answered with a yes or a no, he will often answer with a yes or a no answer, leading some to even question his intelligence.  However, once one gets to know Bart, he thaws out a little and while that gruffness never truly fades away, they learn that he has a rather dark sense of humor and delights in grim, morbid jokes that just barely skirt the edge between slightly inappropriate and downright vulgar.  He also has a passion for telling stories, although it's not really known how many of his stories are true and how many of them are products of his imagination.

He can be slow to warm up to new people, the result of being burned too many times by those that he considered friends or allies.  However, once one has managed to work their way into his confidence, he can be loyal to a fault and will protect those that he cares about with his dying breath if need be.  That said, once someone betrays him, he will not rest until he has received vengeance for the wrong that was done to him on the level of the betrayal.  Bart has even been known to kill in the name of vengeance, making him a powerful ally, but also one that one most be care to avoid giving reason to believe that they've done him wrong or betrayed him.

Bartholomew Fletcher

Basic Background

Born on the outskirts of Mirtan, Bartholomew was the eldest of four sons and two daughters.  Their parents owned a small smithy with their father doing the work and their mother often handling the customers and taking orders.  From a very early age, Bart was expected to help out in the shop, cleaning, carrying materials, and just generally doing any sort of labor that his father needed in order to allow him to focus on the act of forging the swords, shields, and other weapons that he made.  As Brat grew older, he started to become fascinated by the swords and the tales that his father told of his life as a mercenary before settling down filled the young man's head with dreams of battle and wealth and a life beyond the small house that he shared with his family.  One night, after an argument with his parents, he slipped into the smith when he believed they were asleep, intent on stealing a sword and running away to join a mercenary company.  However, what he hadn't counted on was that his father had expected this from his son and was there waiting in the shadows when Bart snuck in and catching the boy in the act.  Bart expected that he would be beaten before sent back into the house, his goal incomplete.  However, his father didn't beat him.  Instead, he simply told his son that if he wished to leave and seek battle, that he would at least need to learn how to properly wield a sword.

From that day forward, every opportunity that they got, Bart and his father would be behind the smith, practicing.  The practice was hard, exhausting, and there were many times when Bart would question whether or not his father was being intentionally difficult in order to see how serious he was.  But every day, Bart gave it his all and when he was 18 years old, his father finally told him that he was ready to take his first steps into the world of being a mercenary.  He gave his son a sword, shield, and a simple set of leather armor along with a few coins to give him a start before pointing him in the direction of some of his old friends, who were still in the mercenary business.  The men were all too happy to take Bart under their wing and show him the ropes.  And for a couple of years, things seemed good and the young man started to gain experience out in the world under the careful guidance of the older men.  However, his time with the group was not just blood and toil, but love as well.  The men openly laughed at him when he was smitten by a young barmaid one night, but they were silenced when she leaned in and kissed him in response to their laughter.

Her name was Tika and she had lived in the city her entire life, taking the job at the tavern to help support her siblings after their father's passing.  Neither of them understood anything about love, but they knew that they enjoyed the other's company.  And they spent every possible moment together and the times when he was away on a job seemed as though they were torture, but he found that he lived for the day when he would return and see her eyes light up with happiness.  And gradually, his goals shifted and he found himself caring less about his reputation and more about making enough money for him and Tika to leave the city and settle somewhere quiet and peaceful.  And as time went by, he began to believe in that dream more and more to the point that he truly believed that Tika and him would get married, have kids, and be together forever. But one day, that changed.  They were asked to break into a prison to free a man who, according to their contact, had been wrongfully imprisoned.  Getting in was easy enough, but getting out proved to be much more difficult and, in the end, Bart was abandoned by the others and captured himself.

His time within the prison was hell.  The prisoner that they had helped escaped held some value and the loss of said prisoner was too great for it to simply go by unaddressed.  And since Bart was the only one captured, he took all of the punishment.  He was beaten and whipped almost daily, denied food and water for days at a time, and kept in the deepest and darkest cells that the prison had to offer.  The time within this environment changed Bart.  While before he had been a fierce warrior, he still retained a kindness and cheerful disposition that made him hard to dislike.  But this slowly became a casualty of the prison as day by day, the light seemed to fade from his eyes and the young man who had once laughed and joked freely would sometimes not speak for days at a time, only moving when dragged out of his cell for his beatings.  Some among the guard felt that his suffering had gone too far.  He was already imprisoned for his deeds, so they did not feel that the beatings were needed any longer and did their best to spare him and, when that failed, would slip him extra rations or speak with him in an effort to keep his spirits up.  However, this did little to slow the rapid decline into what the guards feared would be complete madness.  After a time, several of them agreed that something had to be done, but none ever dared to actually take action.

To this day, the details of how he escaped from the prison are known to only a few, but after a year in prison, he vanished from his cell and the body of a dead guard was found in his stead.  The next time anyone saw him was two years later as he ran his blade through the chest of one of the men that had abandoned him to the prison.  A short time later, he found the other and did the same thing, never uttering a word to the man even as he begged and pleaded for his life.  Concerned by this, his father would eventually seek him out, demanding to know why his son had killed two of his old friends.  With emotionless eyes, Bart looked his father in the face and calmly explained what had happened and that never again would he allow someone to betray him like that again.  And that now anyone that dared to attempt it knew what the consequences of their actions would be.  He would then walk away and never speak to his father, mother, or siblings again.  Since then, he has taken whatever mercenary work he can find, however that is extremely limited as few want to work with a man that they believed would kill them if he believed that they had done something to him.  Despite this, he hasn't given up on mercenary work or his dreams of becoming wealthy and finding a place in this world to call his own, but he knows that the only way to do that is to find a adventuring company willing to trust him.

Short Term Goal:  Find a Adventuring Company willing to take him on
Long Term Goal:  To retire to a peaceful home somewhere away from the city.
NPC's:  Possibly siblings or parents, other members of the group that left him in prison, guards that aided him, Tika

I admit, I am considering throwing my hat in the ring with Enthralling Victor...

I'd need to figure out a build... Suggestions, anyone?

Well, considering that Enthralling Victor isn't a class...he looks like a Barbarian, but perhaps with "Perform" as a combat addition...hmm...

Ok, so. Options I see include:

- Gladiator: Has some interesting class features, and it gives you a few example builds. Yes, you start out in debt, but you have three options there: 1) You start out owned and get free as part of the story. 2) You deduct the debt from your Starting Wealth, and start Free. 3) You come up with an interesting Backstory full of intrigue and adventure to justify not being owned or "in debt."

- A Barbarian, possibly with the Dreadnought, Mooncursed or Brutal Pugilist Archetype.

Those are the options I see, anyway. *shrug* Other people might have other suggestions.

Kicking around a few other ideas, but I'll keep those suggestions in mind.

Questions
• what is the expected balance of combat to non-combat expected to be?
• the summon monster spells list "elemental". Can this be taken to include lightning elementals, aether elementals, and so on as viable options?

Vergil Tanner

1) I think Flint is planning for a more story based experience, with combat to break it up. That might change though.
2) As far as I am aware, access to the Planes is shut down, so...no Elementals. At all.

Major update on my character

https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=272384.msg13404548#msg13404548

I am still a big fan of your concept, and it's nice to see you got some stats for it now, but I'm still not getting any sense of character and that's arguably the most important part.

Don't take this the wrong way, but all we know of your character is her name, her sexy appearance, that she's submissive except when she's not, and that she killed her former master and wants a new one. And that's really it. As Vergil likes to point out, I don't actually have a say in anything, but I image they'll want more story for this story driven game. I hope you have something because I want your character to succeed. There's potential there.

Character sheet is done!  https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1295999

Just working on the rest of the background info.

Oh yes, almost forgot:

1.  How do we do our HP?
2.  Does the +Dex to damage also apply to thrown weapons?
A&A

Vergil Tanner

Re Z, we need you to put that in the required format for posting on the Character Thread, please. Mythweavers has a habit of crashing.

1) Max HP at the start, followed by your HD + Con for the next two levels. If you roll under half, you get a free re-roll and keep the better result. We don't want you to die because you got shit HP rolls. Though Flint might veto me on that :P

2) Yes.

Basically yes she is finished unless I forgot something which is likely, so if you spot something missing please tell me and I'll complete it. :)

Though, and answering to Kujo as well, I'd like to add a little more meat to the background and stuff but given the limit of time being so close and how RL also puts a limits on my time I wanted to at least complete the basic idea of my character.

Vergil Tanner

That's fair, but Kujo is correct in that the more detail you can add to your background and personality, the better the chance of making the cut, as it were. We're more after interesting characters than ones that have all their stats hammered out, so as much detail as you can add would be good.

I've lost sheets on it several times. The Crash was just the final straw of "Nope, not trusting it again."
If you put the Stats in on the Forum, it protects against losing the data if it does happen to lose your sheet. Better safe than sorry.
