I mean, how hard can it be?

Time; 10:30 P.M, Location; Residential Area somewhere in Japan....

Hisoka, Kirin

Was blubbering in his small flat on the seventh floor of the residential building, the ring he presented to his now Ex-Girlfriend was not enough for her, and neither was his love. And dumped him...In the middle of the restaurant...In front of his family...And friends.

Safe to say; he was not in a good place. He had already burned all her photos, drunk most of the liquids in the house to try and numb every sensation in his body, and embarrassingly cried about it to his best friend over texts. Which you know can't get you anywhere if you refuse to be consoled...Except this 'best friend' decided that they knew exactly how to help them out. They appeared suddenly at Kirin's door, and took Kirin's blubbering mess into the car and on a spontaneous road trip.

This 'friend' made Kirin sign some stuff through teary eye's which in Kirin's sorrowful mind thought was some sort of 'Vacation stuff', and went along with it. They went through a strange tunnel through the mountain, then up a dirt path. Before Kirin could begin to feel the serial killer vibes from his friend, a giant building nestled between two snow peaked mountains came into the distance. They pulled up to the front entrance, and Kirin was quite figuratively and literally booted out of the car before the friend wished them luck, and peeled out.

A very confused Kirin didn't realize that they had just signed a transfer paper, to become the 'Lord of Oni Estate'

PLOT
Monsters exist! Don't freak out though, they don't usually eat humans, unless it's an off day. But they have to live in secret, and when they have no where else to go they go to Oni Estate, a secret magical hotel that houses accomidites for all monsters, the only catch is that a single 'Lord' takes care of it, when they sign a magical paper, their soul is magically bound to the place, granting them powers that are learned and gained over time to take care of the estate, either by massive cleaning, feeding, or breaking up altercations. And with so many different beasts in one place, fights do tend to break out.

Our Dear Kirin has signed his soul to the estate, and must learn what it takes to be Lord of Oni Estate. His Tenants being;

1.To Protect the Estate and it's occupants as long as he carries the Title.
2. He must appease any need that the residents desires as long as it does not come to physical, emotional, or mental pain to the Lord. Or at least it is not too embarrassing.
3. Deliver Punishment and Justice upon those who break Estate rules.
4. Host the Yamigata Festival and plan it's events every three months.
5. Offer Sanctuary to those who need it.

*Thumbs up* Exactly what I've been looking for. Count me in.

Questions arise:

1) What is the Yamigata festival (Together, Starcry, we shall receive an answer)

2) Are only Humans allowed to take over the Estate, or could a monster theoretically become Lord?

3) Magic?

4) Not really a question. I just like even numbers... Do you like even numbers?

Yamigata Festival is a tri-monthly honoring to the beings of the estate, delicious food, events and celebrations are held all day and night. He biggest event being the watching of the Celestial Envoy the Yamato pass through the night sky.

Yes, it's a very old custom to only have humans be the Lords of the Estate. Think of it as a 'race mixer'.

Magic is of course going to be present, the Lord learns this to be able to fully take care of the estate, so monsters there would also know how to do it.

pdragon

Potentially interested, how would you feel about a well muscled oni joining the bunch?

What a thrill...with silence and darkness through the night....

I also have a monster girl character in mind. <3 Several, actually, depending on what you're accepting. xD

Idlewyld

I have a concept in mind too - but I'm going on vacation starting about the 8th and getting back on the 20th, so she'd probably have to be a late entry, if that's OK with you.

Various

Kicking around a living rag doll thing. Basically, a type of golem.

JoanieSappho

You had me at monster girl.

(Obligatory "Can I play my avatar?")

Birds of a feather flock together.

They can also fly, which is something my planned gargoyle cannot do.

I think Broken is ok any anything and everything. :)

I might bring my Corrupted Naiad to the party. On the fence about her though.

Broken

Yep, going to say all ideas are fine and accepted. Monster girls of different varieties are well needed.

Name
Hisoka, Kirin
Race
Human
Age
20
Sex
Male
Needs
Basic human needs, plus maybe time to grieve being broken up with...
Background/Personality
Hisoka Kirin is very kind, albeit a tad too passive. He is soft spoken, and can be one to be an enabler than more of a confrontive type. He likes to tend after things, hence why he got a job as a teacher in a pre-school, the guys loves to care for things. You should see his garden back at his flat, which he will soon realize will all die without him which silently grieves him heavily. (Seriously). Kirin purposed to his girlfriend at the family dinner. He believed it to be the right time, and everything was in line. It was too bad that the said girl had been seeing some other guy who was far more dominant than Kirin behind his back, she wanted someone who was more in the general masculine spectrum, and wanted to feel taken care of then cared for. So she broke it up with him in front of everyone just to be rid of it herself.
Obviously, that left Hisoka at a very fragile place in his life, but thanks to his mysterious 'friend' he will soon have very little else to think about.

All ideas? Even my 'can I play my avatar'/non-humanoid bird lady one?

Although strange, I did say everything is fine.

Name: Only one of the former lords knew her "true name." But she goes by her "gifted" name; Anatu.
Race: Corrupt Naiad.

In Greek mythology, the Naiads (Ancient Greek: Ναϊάδες) were a type of water nymph (female spirit) who presided over fountains, wells, springs, streams, brooks and other bodies of fresh water. They are distinct from river gods, who embodied rivers, and the very ancient spirits that inhabited the still waters of marshes, ponds and lagoon-lakes, such as pre-Mycenaean Lerna in the Argolis. Naiads were associated with fresh water, as the Oceanids were with saltwater and the Nereids specifically with the Mediterranean, but because the Greeks thought of the world's waters as all one system, which percolated in from the sea in deep cavernous spaces within the earth, there was some overlap.

Age: Appears to be mid 20's.
Sex: Female.
Needs: An offering and prayer to her. It must be sincere or she will become angry and cause issues with water.
Background/Personality: Anatu was once a water nymph who served to provide her town dwellers with protection from harsh weather and made sure their land was never barren of water. However, over time the people began to forget about their guardian and stopped paying their respects to her. As society changed she also saw her small temple become defiled by the young and negative tales that mocked her. This served to not just weaken her powers but also angered her and made her fall out of love with the humanity that she once adored so much. They had abused her trust and took advantage of her good nature and had caused her much pain as they polluted her waters.

Once she was on the verge of vanishing one of the former lords of the estate visited her all but broken statue and gave her an offering for the first time in many years. What was more surprising is that he could actual see her and spoke to her. He gave her a new name so no one could control her and after listening to her tale offered her a place on his estate. The contractual agreement between them was for her to provide protection of the estate and keep the water of the land plentiful. In exchange, himself and others after would give her an offering and pray to her every day. This was enough to satisfy the angry spirit and thus he arranged to have her statue moved to the land as she is bound to it and unable to leave.

Anatu is understandably wary of any humans and will simply tolerate them until they have proven fit to earn her trust and loyalty.
