Spies in Monstertown
Never too late to start spying

Shining City
In a distant realm of fantasy all manner of humanoids and monsters make their home. The lands are vast and wealthy with magic and wonder, but there is never enough for everyone. Thus, since the ancient times the lands have been split into various tiny competing kingdoms.

The Shining City stands as a literal beacon of hope to all that is good and just. By the combined efforts of brave heroes and wise rulers it has flourished unconquered through uncertain times and prevailed against the malignant efforts of its rival kingdom which would see it undone. Peace has lasted for a few decades already. However, recently the sitting king has grown worried of what might be going on at the neighbors’. While relieving himself of the kingly worries with a few dozen goblets of wine with an old friend of his from adventuring years the king went and granted his old pal with full authority and funding to establish a clandestine agency to keep an eye on the rival kingdom - Monstertown.

Monstertown
This friend was never known for common sense. She could not have known that the wine had somehow addled the good king's judgement. Right there and then she swore to do everything in her power to see that the king’s order was carried out. Knowing what a blabbermouth the king was she had to promptly cast a spell to erase his immediate memories so that not even the ruler himself would know of the existence of this patriotic secret agency. This old friend cast aside her former identity as a hero and disappeared into the shadows where she assumed the identity of the mysterious ‘Director’. With only her wits, a big bag of gold and the king’s official seal she set out on a mission to recruit.

The Director handpicked promising youths who were ready to give their body and soul to a cause and tested them until only a handful of the brightest remained. Through a series of rigorous training montages she honed their unique abilities and traits, turning them into perfect spies, tricksters, and various odd job specialists who might come in handy when infiltrating the Monster Kingdom. With the merry band of to be spies ready they all donned their disguises and set out to journey into the bowels of the Monster Kingdom and established a base.

Three years have passed, since the fateful night of the first mission. Numerous unforeseen difficulties and setbacks have kept the agency from achieving much yet. So far the agents have been too busy being kidnapped and stolen by various sexy monsters, a few have outright defected and sworn to the service of the Monstertown's recently established counter intelligence. Worse yet, the remaining ones have mainly played the game to satisfy their own needs by either fattening their purses or fiddling with the local populace. Things really aren't looking good for the Director and the few loyal spies she has. That drunken dream of good king might soon be whisked away into the wind. In a last desperate attempt to set right the course for her quickly sinking spy agency the Director decided to recruit fresh new spies to her ranks.

Game start here: You are spies, either new recruits or however old member of the agency as you want. I would like a good mix of old members (you don't have to have played previously to make your character an old member) and fresh recruits so that we can come up with some juice start where there are already personal plots going on and stuff to do. Worth noting that new members don't have to be any less skilled and powerful or old ones!

Setting and Theme

This is a very open high fantasy setting and I don’t intend to hammer out any more than the necessary details before the actual game start. I'll gladly leave much of individual species, cultures, magical traditions and religions for the players to hammer out as they make their characters. Be detailed with the backgrounds though, I'll be less lenient on allowing you to pull stuff out of your ass during the game in order to keep the plot running (although if you pull stuff out to create dramatic situations rather than to help your character, that is all fine).

I would also like to underline that this is indeed a rather light hearted setting. I can allow an edgy assassin or two if they are tongue in cheek enough, but don't tackle every situation with lethal violence. The NPCes are more likely to grope, molest, and take advantage of the spies they capture rather than killing them. The villains are most likely to come up with some Bond-esque plot with a pinch of sexy spice for your characters' doom rather than feeding them to crocodiles. Death is reserved for the most dramatic of moments. I'll aim to keep a somewhat cheesy humorous theme going, but I will probably get attached enough to the setting that I’ll start building some deeper plots that you can try to discover while the Director keeps sending you on increasingly stranger missions without ever quite telling everything about them. Your characters will end up facing all kinds of traps and schemes in my attempt to combine all the cliche spy game tropes with high fantasy.

On topic of smut...  What are spy games without sexy peril and ‘interrogation’? Well, now we have monsters and possibly tentacles to toss into the mix. Many times smut might be an integral part of your character advancing their mission. You may of course arrange whatever you wish with fellow players too. Needless to say your character may be of any orientation and gender.  Please make sure to also check your GM's O/o before joining.

The Shining City is basically a city of good honest folk of all pretty and nice (mostly non-monstrous) fantasy races like elves, humans, halflings, half-angels etc. The royal family are humans. There is probably some kind of paladin order, a church that serves all the good Gods and a magical academy. Those would be the biggest government establishments.

Monstertown is where most of the game will be at. It is a big bustling city with buildings of widely varying architecture and inhabitants at least as colorful. The city is run by powerful monsters - vampires, demons, dragons, giants, krakens and all manner of nasties. In appearance the monsters vary from attractive humanoids to outright scary and grotesque (mostly sexy). Weaker humanoid races are often considered commodity or lower class citizens and slavery is a big thing in Monstertown. Despite the creatures being big and bad they’re not necessarily evil per say and most of the citizens are just regular folk who probably live in Monstertown because they might be hunted elsewhere. Monstertown is the most powerful kingdom in all lands, but due to its complex internal politics it often fails to make any decisive moves as a single entity.

Aim of the game: You never know where the story will go, but my current goal is to have the game evolve from a GM guided adventure spy game into something more character and player driven where the player characters' own goals and ambitions drive their progress as bigger plots concerning the Monstertown as a whole and even the world beyond unfold. I would really really love it if some players wanted to also pick up NPCes and maybe even help co-GM so that it's easier for me, but that is not strictly necessary.

Characters

Your characters are members of a tiny spy organization founded and funded by the good guys, but after you ran out of money the funding has began to come in from various suspicious sources. You can come up with any kinda fantasy species yourself, but you need to make it pass my inspection. Your character can be a magician, possess innate powers of the divine or whatever magic you may come up with, but they will not be almighty. In fact, you can be as bad a spy as you like and focus on having your character molesterbated. In either case the idea is that as spies you generally want to avoid running into many conflicts with monsters even if you could take them down.

Since they joined this agency your characters are probably pretty patriotic, or at least you became dedicated to the Director during the year plus period of time that you trained under her. That is to say, you can’t start as a mole. You may however be a member of some more humanoid monster species that happily lived in the Shining City or someone who was at odds with the Monstertown and wanted to defect.

Posting and general OOC things to note

I intend to post roughly on weekly basis - sometimes faster sometimes slower. There will be a side thread you can post in and indulge in more fun between player characters if you're itching for more and my pace is too slow. I don't know how many players I'm going to pick yet. I might not pick all, if there are many applicants I will have to make a cut somewhere for my own sake. I will primarily be looking at posting habits, and O/o first when determining who gets to be a spy (character concepts can always be fiddled with to fit in). I'm looking for players who can crank up from few to several paragraphs of text that pushes the dialogue and story forward.

Character sheet

Name: Your character's name, nicknames, titles, etc.
Age:Between late teens to mature adults. No 100+ year-old vampires.
Sex: Male, female, herm, some other description?
Sexuality: Think a little more than just orientation, think their experience, their preferences, their kinks etc. (links to O/o pages here get a big frown).
Description: What does your character look like. It's a good idea to describe wider than simple measurements and physique. Think more along the lines of what kind of impression would they make if you sat them down for a quick chat in some neutral environment? You probably also want your characters' species to be partially described here.
Strengths: Can be short, but the fancier powers and abilities you list the more I need explanation here. I'm not going to accept "Magic" as a power, nor "Shape shifting" without a good explanation of how they work, what are the conditions and limitations under which they function. If you want cool powers try to make them interesting. Give me at least a thick paragraph or few for every 'big' power.
Weaknesses:One meaningful strength at least per power that goes beyond 'she has a knack at swinging the sword'. Try to think of stuff that I would have fun times plotting around and toying with as well as stuff that could create potential fun drama between player characters.
Story:How did your character get from wherever they were to becoming a spy and being recruited by the Director? Why did they want to join and help her?
Likes:Mandatory likes list. You can put kinky stuff here or bananas and milk.
Dislikes: Specify especially if stuff your character dislikes differs from what you as a player would like.
Ideas for the character: Gimme some plothooks to use, or some situations you would like to see your character in. The more amusing they sound to me the more likely they're to occur. This is where you can as a player scheme against your character :-)

Example sheet: The Director

Name: The Director
Age: Well aged
Sex: Female
Sexuality: Director is a loving dominant who doesn't look at species or sex when wondering if someone makes her tingly bits wet.
Description: Director is a mature human woman of average height, yet her regal posture and sharp powerful demeanor give her an overwhelming aura of control. Her primary emotion is seemingly a mix of stoic cynicism and scorn. Reading what actually goes on in her head is impossible. The Director almost never smiles, and when she does it is a sing of immediate danger to anyone sharing the same room. The degree of control she holds over her emotions probably plays a role in her face still looking like she's in her late twenties or early thirties, but there might also be some strange magics involved - after all she used to be a hero, right?

Aside a few grey hairs her body shows very few of aging with her wide butt and D-cup breasts both being as pert as a young girl's. Beneath the squishy bits hide agile muscles trained and tested by decades of heroic deeds and a several years of some less heroic activities in the shadows. She is flexible and fast beyond what should be humanly possible.

When not on a mission the Director often wears graceful outfits that accentuate her curvy body, though with a measure of class. There is not a single piece in her wardrobe that costs less than a hundred gold, and her perfume collection could fund wards. She wears small round spectacles that are possible magical and often keeps her grey purple hair tied up in a bun or a ponytail.
Strengths: Director is at the peak of human physique, though she has cultivated her body more towards quickness and agility rather than power she will still best most mooks in an arm wrestle. In addition she is an expert with all manner of small blades, thrown weapons, and crossbows. Moreover the Director is your spymaster. Most of the tricks and tips you old members learned under her came from her.

She also possesses several magic items and alchemical artifacts which allow her a degree of control over illusion magic and memory alteration. These are mostly limited to things such as an invsibility cape, hallucinatory perfumes, and knock-out drops (with amnesia). Her illusions are somewhat limited in the times she can use them as they are mostly consumables. In addition the items and tricks often have very specific circumstances required for activation - the perfumes need to be inhaled for example, and the knock-out drops drank or otherwise consumed.
Weaknesses: Despite her being an expert rogue and arcane trickster, the Director lacks in one aspect vital to being a good spy. She cannot act, at all. She has her strong stern personality and can't hide it. This prevents her from doing any actual infiltration work that doesn't involve beating someone up for information (or fucking it out of them). She may also love her agents too much and trust them more than she should.
Story: The Director's background has been entirely obscured from history books, but you know she is a former hero who used to work with the king of Shining City when he still adventured. For the last few years she has acted as the Director of the agency and searched for promising agents from all corners of the Shining City. She spent a lot of time training the agents to their fullest potential before embarking on the mission to infiltrate Monstertown. For the past three years she has been leading the intelligence operations in Monstertown and worked to establish the base of operations. The loss of agents and setbacks are starting to show in additional grey hairs and deeper frown. Old members will have noticed that Director is very stressed, and might have even admitted in person that she is worried for what might happen if things don't start going as they should soon.
Likes: Obedience, bondage, teasing others, skimpy clothes (others wearing), seeing agents doing lewd stuff together
Dislikes: Uppity attitude (it warrants punishment), dirty clothes, seeing her agents hurt, being teased, losing

Hello :-)

I've given this a shot before with less prep and during a more busy time. Loved where the game was going, but unfortunately had to call it short. I'm looking to re-boot it. Not all things we established last time will be canon, but some will. Old and new are free to apply. If you have any questions regarding my aims for the game, the setting, or whatever else feel free to ask.

Broken

Slightly interested, only reservations being that I don't particularly want to be the one being 'caught', rather than the one doing the 'catching.'

Lynnette

Well, you already know I'm in, but figured I'd put it up here ;)
I'm available on Discord!

Well, if I had to give a reason for my actions, I guess it's because I love people. I guess I wanted to see the faces that mankind has to offer.

Interested, and you know exactly who I'm bringing back, Sain

Revelation

Same! If i'm allowed to bring back my old character, i'd love the chance to.

Sain

Hey hey new and old :-)

I look forward to the characters.

They will be most welcome. You can think a bit how they would have contributed to the organization going downhill for the last three years :P

It's pretty much a given that Amari spent all their time getting captured and 'interrogated', isn't it?
Well, that and being 'punished' by the director ...  :P

EDIT: Looking at the original sheets and the possible plans of Amari turning double/triple/they're not entirely sure any more agent, mind if I think up a couple of local groups that they kinda sorta vaguely work for/with/sometimes sorta against?

What kind of groups were you thinking? The main antagonists this time will be the Monstertown's counter intelligence agency.

I actually think them, kind of. The friendly enemy spy sort of thing. Still not working for them, but has an almost friends thing with some of the counter-intelligence people. With benefits, naturally, since untrustworthy slutfox is both untrustworthy and really quite slutty.  :P
And he'd have made a bunch of friends (also with benefits) around the place in general. Like a certain fey girl in the university and I'm not sure from there. Basically, he's gone social on the town.

Sain

Yeah he could be frenemies with some of them, definitely. I'm thinking of making some NPCes that I would retcon to have joined the same time the other old members did and have some of those be full on betrayers to the Monstertown now (players I want all to be part of the good guys however). There could be fun interactions there.

The little fey girl would have probably gone to places by now. If you want you can think of some kind of organization she would be part of (or leave it to me), and you could definitely suggest some others too, then I may add more stuff to them.

Interested! Thinking half-angel... do you have more info on what that means in this setting, or should I wing it? No pun intended... XD

And just FYI, your example sheet has something about strengths after weaknesses.

Yeah you could come up with whatever. If it's too outlandish I might ask for some tweaks.

What do you mean strengths and weaknesses. I've looked it over, but can't find anything?

Might jump back into this one. Maybe with the old char, maybe with something new ^^

VonDoom

I didn't miss it when you linked this to me, Sain!  ;D Just wanted to drop by and say that if you keep recruitment open once the game starts or if there's a second wave, I'd definitely be interested. Currently have a few too many games running, starting and still in the works, so I fear I couldn't give this its due attention.

Glad to hear Kimera and Crash ;D

It'll likely re-open eventually. Some player attrition is inevitable, and generally to be expected.

Sain

So I was asked whether or not characters could be monstrous races too. I didn't realize that the game pitch had no mention of such.

The answer is yes, yes your character can be a monstergirl/boy. Whether they're old member of the agency and were adopted by the Director or new recruits who really dislike what bullies some monsters are and wanna help the generally weaker races cope.

Idlewyld

Here is my character submission for your consideration:

Name: Zephyria Windborne
Age: 20
Sex: F
Sexuality: Bisexual though pretty inexperienced outside of the occasional makeout session. Curiosity makes her pretty open as to whom she is attracted.

Description: Zephyria is a wispy looking youngish female with purple hair flying in all directions as if she's caught in a windstorm (largely due to the fact that she is actually an air elemental.) Her eyes match her hair - a violet that reminds one of an amethyst or a memorable sunset. She has a breezy almost singsong voice and generally cheerful and curious personality, though her moods tend to change almost at an instant. Zephyria generally wears dresses and other flowing garments as she hates to feel restricted.

Strengths: Zephyria is literally light on her feet - in fact without concentrating, said feet won't touch the floor. Thus she is quiet and stealthy (at least in a lack of noise sense) and actually can fly if it's windy enough. Of course, just because she's good at not being heard doesn't mean she's necessarily good at not being seen.

She also can manipulate the air around her at least in broad strokes. She can "push" a gust of wind at a person for instance, slowing them down or blowing off their clothes. Perhaps, given enough time, energy, and concentration, she can even blow a door off its hinges. However, this is a billy club, not a surgeon's scalpel. And of course it leaves a trail to follow.

In terms of more mundane skills, Zephyria is good at improvisation and quick thinking, as per her airy nature. Less so at making and following detailed plans.

Weaknesses: Firstly, Zephyria has trouble focusing on things - she is forever changeable and as such, can often lose sight of her long-term goals, which is a definite drawback for a spy. She is definitely inexperienced as a spy and has a whole lot to learn - and we all know how that will turn out. She is made distinctly uncomfortable by enclosed spaces and confinement, which causes her to panic and generally shut down. She is particularly vulnerable to two types of attacks. As an air elemental, she is vulnerable to direct physical force and earth-based abilities.

Story: The Four Villages of the Elements have always been at odds with one another, and have often been used as pawns and proxies as well as neutral territory in the conflict between Monstertown and the Shining City. The Village of Air is an open and often chaotic place. Homes and buildings are actually platforms in the air suspended by magic. Air elementals flit around from place to place, using birds and giant insects as their main pets and beasts of burden. The Village is ruled by a Council of Twelve who really don't do much of anything as it is rare that any two of them will agree on something at any given moment, let alone a majority of seven. In fact, even getting more than a few council members together at the same time is a monumental undertaking, so much so that the current Council bylaws define a quorum as three. And still they get almost nothing done.

It is not so hard, however, for someone to end up with a lover on the Council. In the Director's case, it just happens to be Zephyria's Aunt Boreana. So when it came time for Zephyria to do her year of "Breezing" (defined as extended traveling outside the confines of the Village of Air), Boreana immediately thought of the Director as someone that could help and watch over the girl. And the Director, for her part, immediately recognized the value that the skills and powers of an Air Elemental could bring to her organization. And Zephyria certainly seemed capable enough - given enough training, one could make a good spy out of her. After a good deal of secret tests and trial balloons (all completely without Zephyria's knowledge of course), the Director eventually made her formal offer, and Zephyria accepected because she is drawn to the excitement and romance of the life of a spy, though she really has very little understanding of what it actually entails, and her rookie years will either prove quite the education or a complete disaster.

Likes: Freedom, dancing, excitement, fluffy desserts, playful partners in both platonic and sexual relationships.
Dislikes: Above all, Zephyria dislikes enclosed spaces and confinement. Also, boredom, being yelled at, and vacuum cleaners.
Ideas for the character: Zephyria plots should probably include lots of infiltration, especially into sexy situations (maid service with handsy masters and mistresses, cabarets which in truth are overglorified strip clubs, sneaking into parties with carriage keys in fishbowls, things like that.) I also see good possibilities for her being teamed up with a "by the book" seasoned professional as that will cause all sorts of fun conflict.

JoanieSappho

Hmm. Thinking about it, I like/liked Amari, but maybe I should do something new this time.

shii

Interested..... I play all male characters. I sort of have a rough idea in my head....

JoanieSappho

Okay, got that "I have multiple decent ideas and no ability to choose!" problem. So, let's see what people think.

Option 1

Female, human bisexual. Covert pervert and hardcore voyeur mage, specialises in scrying and sneaky spells (Iinvisibility, unlocking, underwear theft) Usually half asleep as she stays up very late watching people sleep and doing things.

Option 2

Female/Herm Wolfy bisexual. Tries to act all big and tough and scary and sometimes manages. Is, however, a big fluffy softy. Tracker, some combat ability, bit of stealth.

Option 3

Female, human bisexual/lesbian. Warmage. Good at plans, spells to detect people, and large explosions. Does not know how to explode only some of the things instead of all of the things. Easily flustered and panics when things go off-plan, complete virgin.
