I think some kind of white witch would have to be there to slow the Hobomock down since there's no way it'd chose not to attack him. But it's interesting to see an obsessive hyper religious mans belief in 'the devil' at least somewhat confirmed for him. I presume he'd take the Hobomock as proof that he's right about demons. I can't imagine the resulting rampage on both sides. Kind of the two faces of evil, I'm not sure which one I'd even say is worse to be honest. I think it's definitely debatable.

He doesn't need proof.  He has faith.

There's a pretty solid difference between even the most adamant faith and something you can reach out and touch. I imagine the most devout Christian in the world would have a fairly huge response if they encountered something that was indistinguishable from a demon. Just because you 'know' something exist doesn't mean it doesn't hit you pretty hard to see it.

He'd be in a fight or flight situation and to run would mean his faith wasn't strong enough to face the devil.  That only leaves him one option.  I've already noted on the character sheet that I have given open permission to kill him, assuming the plan is sound and follows a logical path to its conclusion.

Well, maybe some ways down the line that could make for an amazing final stand for him. I can see the Hobomock's virtual war on the Puritans being an escalating story line as things go on. And Gabriel seems like he'd be a figurehead against 'evil'. I haven't really decided what happens if you run the Hobomock through with a sword. Definitely doesn't kill it, but it's not a God, getting stabbed is going to really hurt it.

Any which long term ending I'm looking forward to seeing him witch-hunting!

Gabriel doesn't carry a sword.  He might end up doing a two handed baseball swing with his cane but as far as final stands go, it would be far from epic....

Huh. Well, brave then. I think it's almost more of a show of faith to stand against the devil with a cane instead of a sword.

Running is probably the safest bet. It's less likely to have a grudge against you if you just run away. Stabbing is definitely cause for a vendetta.

Not sure why but that cracked me up. Probably because that's about the most pirate-like response to the Hobomock possible, only beaten by shoot it twice, run away and claim it was the devil if anyone catches me". "I'll just shoot it twice and claim it was the devil." Because only a fool would shoot the devil once. The mask thing's definitely given me an idea though.
