I am kicking myself for not watching The Ancient Magus' Bride sooner, like, when it started simulcasting last October.

I have been binging on this show since last night; now up through ep 12 and will resume with a few more eps later.

It is, in my opinion, one of the most breathtaking stories and works of animation I've seen in quite some years and easily the best from the Fall 2017 slate.  Shame on me for putting it off this long because of my false assumption it would just be a straight-up fantasy romance between human and beastly-looking creature....blame the title and promotional teaser images for that.  Never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, an anime series by its promotional materials and title.

As for other things, I'm still following that red-headed stepchild called Black Clover which still holds my interest (I'm up through ep 19 in dubbed form; still not touching that Japanese....Asta's voice is still cringe-inducing from what I read elsewhere).  If for nothing else, to me it's a fun little guilty pleasure.  It's trope-filled shonen, but sometimes that's all one needs to escape reality for a while.  I've seen my share of anime set in medieval-style realms with magical battles (Lodoss, Slayers, some others not coming to mind), but it's not been done (to my knowledge) in a shonen long-running format, at least not until this series.

Likewise, Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card is now just in my 'guilty pleasure' pile.  As a veteran fan of CCS and CLAMP in general, part of me would love to see this story get more interesting and deep.  I understand they don't want to tamper with it ("If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality).  But then again, I don't want the clusterf**k that was Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle either, and that one never got seen through to the end in animated form.

Finally, I tried very hard, to get into the hype that is Boku no Hero Academia.  After Season 1 and a bit of a ways into S2, basically up through ep 17, I dropped it.  I understand it's popularity, but it seems my tastes lie more in high/magical fantasy (Lodoss, Slayers, Magus Bride, Black Clover, etc.) than 'superhero' / comic franchise types of things.  I will grant it some points that even I as a non-fan of the franchise can admire:  The animation is top notch (then again BONES is one of the better studios around in recent times), it does have a large, varied cast of characters that are more rooted with personalities that aren't too farfetched from real life, and unlike most other shonen titles, this is a great test of the 'seasonal' approach, which I'm sure works wonders for the manga to play catch up, thus reducing, even eliminating filler.
No doubt, those into this show are psyched for the 3rd season; looking like it's going to be one hell of a ride.

TL;DR, differing tastes on my end, but has high production values I can admire.

I'm still looking through the rest of the Spring 2018 slate.  I'll need to find new things to follow eventually.  This is usually the time of year that the biggest shows / seasons of returning shows  for the year are premiered.

Have you watched the Isekai wonder that is Overlord? Season 2 is currently airing, and season one is great as well. Personally I am guilty pleasure watching Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody. I am watching it because the cast, minus the main character, are really interesting.

I'm on it.  Overlord is in my queue on Funimation's site (I have their streaming app on my Roku player).

Tried a 2nd attempt getting into Seven Deadly Sins (which is on Netflix).  Nope, not I.  I'm sure if I were a newbie fan yet, I'd probably have enjoyed it.  The animation and setting are nice, but it feels rather pedestrian to me.  I can't place my finger on exactly what.  It's weird too, because this one often ranks slight above average.  Then again, those folks probably haven't been into anime as long, or seen as many titles as I have.

With myself already loaded up with my 'guilty pleasure' stuff in CCS and Black Clover, I'm passing and checking out Overlord next, and anxiously waiting for the next Magus Bride ep.  I'm up through 18, waiting on the 19th, and from there I think there's to be 5 more eps left.  Then there is the 3-part OAV, but as I generally prefer watching anime in dubbed (which TAMB in my opinion is a keeper), they have yet to do those OAVs.

Started Overlord Thursday evening.  Only two episodes in and I Recommend it without hesitation.  SAO, start taking notes; this is how you do the 'trapped in an MMORPG' trope the RIGHT way.

Found another show from a few years back that I'm going to get into as well.  Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona), right up my alley with its main female protagonist and medieval Asian-esque setting . I find it interesting already because usually Japan sets these sort of shows in more of an ancient China setting; this one is ancient Korean-like.  That stuff is my inspiration for my main 'roleplay / writing' moniker (the username and avatar I use here).

My good sir, have you heard of Log Horizon? THAT is how you do a trapped in an MMORPG world, because there's other players, so far Overlord is basically just a protagonist Isekai story, with game mechanics built into the world.

Log Horizon has my favourite anime opening song of all time. Database by Man with a Mission. The world is great, the characters are well written, the plot is superb. I would advice binging it honestly, it makes for the best experience imho.

I liked Overlord. I binged watched SAO, Overlord, and Log Horizon.

I'm hoping for a season 3 of Log Horizon. It's got to be my favorite "trapped in an MMO" out of what I've watched so far. I did happen to like No Game No Life too though it's a bit different.

Log Horizon was alright as far as MMO animes go, but I would much prefer another season of Grimgar personally.

I really enjoyed Log Horizon because the main character reminded me of one of my good friends. XD If my friend was an anime, he would be Shiro!

Also, thank you for reminding me about Grimgar! I forgot all about the name of that anime though I was meaning to start watching it at some point.

Oh, I bet you'll love Grimgar then. It's the kind of setting that kinda smells of RP potential ;D

Sain, that is evil. I have enough stories already. Why would you do this to me? XD

Don't make me ask you to do a Grimgar based CYOA! >:)

;D No worries. One CYOA seems to be my limit.

But group games on the other hand...  We'll see.

I like the concept of Grimgar in that it's an Isekai tale where people aren't OP there and get killed super easy.

It's basically Isekai if people appeared in the Warhammer Fantasy RP rules... Get stabbed by a villager with a pitchfork once? You're probably gonna die from the infection on that wrongly treated wound in a bed-ridden state rather than run out of HP.

I like that it's anti- SAO.

I see. So rather than just a game, it's like... another world, but based on a game that they used to play? With realism, in a sense?

I won't go into it, though basically it's another world based around fantasy and death is a real consequence and the sense of realism is very much shown.

Though y'know me Mirrah and I very much dig grimdark and violent Seinen series.

Man they didn't have to do my boy Futoshi like that. Somebody get my homeboy some good ass to forget that Kokoro girl. Y'all too good for her my dude.

Like from the premise I KNEW they were would be some heartbreak and "Break Ups" but damn.
