Long ago, the world was rife with peril, dangerous monsters living in the countryside, and every day risking death for those that went outside the city walls. It was in that time that the first Mage Guild was formed, with various spellcasters banding together to help out the populace. While they were the first guild to do so, they were far from the last; dozens of other guilds sprang up to join in, some out of noble reasons and a desire to help others, some only wishing to line their own pockets. Yet their existence shaped the world for centuries, quickly beating back the darkness and freeing the people from the constant fear of peril.
It's been several hundred years since then, and now, the guilds have become commonplace. Even a small city has half a dozen different guilds, and any town with a name has at least one guild branch. Jobs and desire for the guilds has started to become scarce, enough that some of the guilds have taken to fighting amongst each other in order to claim the jobs that do show up.
You, of course, belong to one of these guilds. It's not an easy life, by far, but it's at least interesting, and as senior members, you've gotten quite a bit of money and control over what goes on.
And that's my new Pathfinder game. As I mentioned, everyone is members of a mage guild, which means not all classes are available. Specifically, character creation rules:
5d6 drop two lowest for attributes
Level 8, standard gold (33,000 GP)
Characters must be able to cast 3rd-level spells, or able to cast 2nd-level spells from two different classes. (Note that this is flexible, and if you have an idea for a spellcasting character that doesn't fit the criteria, let me know and I may ok it anyway.)
Max HP for first level, roll and reroll 1's and 2's for every level after first.
I plan on having this a more sandbox-style game, without a set plotline for the characters (but perhaps large events that are worth paying attention to). I don't know how many characters I can realistically run for, but I'll try to keep it as open as possible.
