The Creeping Tide [DnD 3.5] Recruitment. Closed.
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:08:05 PM »
Well, might as well start with the rp that made me join E. Not sure if there's a standardized procedure or anything, but I'll try to keep this logical and organized.

This is going to be a semi-sandbox game run in a standard DnD universe with a few myths and legends altered slightly to fit the exact idea for it. The players are free to do whatever, but I will have certain events running on a hidden timer. In other words, you'll need to actually go save the princess when you discover she's in danger, not when it's convenient for you.

For the sexual content of this, I'll phrase it this way: The Succubus Queen is a prominent character. Feel free to draw your own conclusions from that. Due to the nature of the villains I have planned, this will most likely be placed in the Non-Con Exotic board, even though it may not always be the case. Better safe than sorry, right?

I'm a little stuck on the exact point of creation for characters, so when you express interest, please answer these two questions:
1. Around what level would you prefer the characters to start? A lower starting level means a longer campaign.
2. Should the party know each other beforehand, or have they just met? Or is it somewhere in between?

Character creation is as follows:
Starting level 6, starting wealth of 15,000 gp. Use the Pathfinder system for obtaining feats (every odd level). Stats are on a 40 point buy. Here's a calculator if you have trouble with that: http://emrilgame.netau.net/Dmstuff/pointbuy.html. We will not be using appearance as a stat, unless someone makes a really convincing argument. Please make a note of your character's orientation on the sheet somewhere.

For the resources you'll need, the only 3 that, without a doubt, are necessary are the Core books (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual), all of which can be substituted for the http://www.d20srd.org/. The only book outside the core that I highly recommend is the Book of Erotic Fantasy. If you are unable to obtain it, I can give the quick version of the important stuff, but having the book/pdf will be a massive advantage. For homebrew, give me a link to it and I'll approve on a case by case basis.

I'd prefer it if everyone used a digital sheet (Myth Weavers and the Tangled Web are great resources for this). I don't mean to inconvenience you, it's just easier for me to be able to quickly pull up a sheet.

Think that's everything. Feel free to ask about something if you can't find the answer for it above.

Tome of Battle? And/or homebrew content?

You have my interest. I prefer Pathfinder, but if you or the preponderance of players prefer 3.5, I can go with it. It's just. Skills. Bluh.

I'd really rather not have Appearance as a stat, but that's just me, if only because I don't want to have to sink limited resources (feats, skill points, stat boosts, magic items) into being decent at sex.

Rajah: Yes to the Tome of Battle, just remember I expect just as much noncombat solutions as combat. As for homebrew, link me to it and I'll approve on a case by case basis.

indarkestknight: I'm still on the edge about Appearance. While I'd like to work it in somehow, if I can't find some sort of balance to it, I'll just drop it.

Intrigued.

Level - around 3 or so to start.  Prevents one shot kills, gives some chance to multiclass or whatevs.

System - I too lean pathfinder, but whatevers

Knowing each other - always helps, maybe not requisite but players should at least be looking for links

Appearance - if we want lots of fun sex, I'd suggest the balancing factor of all the players being good looking.  No fun to sex up fugly people, unless that's intended.  In any case, pictures tend to be good looking so may as well just roll with it.

I'd also like to note  my interest. I'm okay (and prefer) 3.5. Knowing each other, or meeting when the game begins, are both okay with me, I've no real preference.

As for starting levels, I'd say 5 or higher.

As far as level goes, while I'm fond of high levels, myself, I'm fine with anything, from level 1 up. I just don't like gestalt.  :P

I am highly, HIGHLY interested in this RP.  My last DnD RP broke down due to lack of enough players but this looks like it can be popular and fun.  Quick question myself:  roughly how many players are you looking to accept?  Equal number of females and males?

For the sexual content of this, I'll phrase it this way: The Succubus Queen is a prominent character. Feel free to draw your own conclusions from that. Due to the nature of the villains I have planned, this will most likely be placed in the Non-Con Exotic board, even though it may not always be the case. Better safe than sorry, right?

I feel like you were trying to make a point here, but I didn't quite understand.  Can you elaborate *a little* here?  Thanks regardless of response.

1. Roughly level 5, this would give us the potential to be a little more different from one another, give us plenty of room to advance in level and content, and also be a good background for characters that aren't considered 'Heros' as of yet.
2. I think they should have only just met.  This gives us more to RP in the first place, plus less need to make up how they feel about one another already.

I'm interested.

I would say level 5/6, and passingly knowing one another, maybe a couple of characters could have a more meaningful connection if they want.

As far as the pathfinder 3.5 issue,  I strongly favor 3.5

I'd be interested in this game, when the level and starter stuff is taken care of. :)

Siereis: To elaborate on the sexual content part, there's going to be a lot. While I have only a few specific parts planned to be sexual, I am a fan of the players solving things without combat, including using their sexuality to bribe/distract/otherwise avoid confrontation. To use the rating system in the BoEF, it'll be somewhere between R and NC-17.

As for the number of players, I'm aiming for 4-6 of either gender.

To everyone: Seeing the feedback, here's how characters will be created (yes, this will be edited into the first post).

On the Pathfinder/3.5 debate, I've designed it around 3.5 mechanics with the Pathfinder feat system.

As for the characters knowing each other, you all at least know of each other. I'd prefer it, though it is by no means necessary, if the party had some connection to each other first (ex: Bob the Fighter had a quick team up with Alice the Enchantress once, Charlie the Rogue spent a night on the town with Bob once, etc.)

Definitely DEFINITELY interested in this, I haven't really played 3.5 in a long time. It's a bloated system with a billion books (a slight exaggeration)I, but what does work works well. I'm very tempted to make an application with... gosh, so many things I never got to try when 4e and Pathfinder came around and people moved on to those systems.

I'm guessing a Pixie Warlock would be barred for size difference issues, but at level 6 there are so many other options.

As for backgrounds and such, is there anything we need to know about the setting, or any limitations?

Go right ahead with a Pixie Warlock plan. I have some....experience with size altered characters. As for knowledge about the setting, use the standard stuff in the PHB for setting info. I'll try to get a map drawn up. The game will start in a city called Levitil, which is a coastal city. Feel free to make things up about the setting; I'll let you know if something doesn't work.

Looks good. Though there was a modified version of Vow of Poverty you may want to look at here. It gives fewer feats, but more other stuff and goes into epic levels.

I could use that if you prefer, homebrew as it is. It's... rather potent really. One less feat to enter, and the feats it gives aren't even limited to the [Exalted] feats.

Huh. Druid, Paladin, Warlock, Wizard, and maybe someone from Tome of Battle...

What do we need most...?

Is there anything someone would really like to see covered by the party that hasn't been handled yet?

What's the cosmology/setting looking like? Pantheons? Greyhawk? Faerun? Eberron?

Three things:

1.
Huh. Druid, Paladin, Warlock, Wizard, and maybe someone from Tome of Battle...

Sounds like we need at least someone else melee focused.  Perhaps a sly rogue?  That would help with spotting traps too (if there would be any).

2. How is loot going to be included in this RP?  Pretty much just 'vanilla' items?  (armor, weapons, necklace, etc) or are you planning on extending the possibilities to have more sexual ideas as well?  (thong of dexterity +1).  I'm only half way joking...

3. Alice, the Ironsouled (Human Paladin) will be posted tomorrow afternoon.

I'm leaning towards Rogue or Scout at this point, so we have someone who can deal with traps.

EDIT: I guess a Factotum could do that, too.

Preferences, everyone?
