A Summer to RememberWhat would this game be like?
I envision this: A group of college graduates, who are all very close friends, make a decision. They want to spend their last "free" summer together before the evil monster called "real life" sucks them away. The group is of a moderate size, 4 girls and 4 guys, and have been nigh inseparable since their Freshman year. With graduation and the prospect of their merry group breaking apart and scattering across the country, they pitch in and rent a lovely summer hotel/condo/resort for a whole two weeks, complete with everything they may or may not need. The place is extravagant, located just outside of a major city, and has a pool, spacious rooms, lots of windows, only the finest of everything. The group is diverse, both in personality, majors, even sexuality, but one thing is common between them all: A desire for this to be the best damn summer of their entire lives. What are the specifics? Where is the game located? What category will it be under?
A lot of this is up for discussion. I believe Bondage would be appropriate for the category. I would prefer if all the characters began single, but I would like to make this as open as possible. People could start in a relationship and leave in a new relationship. People could start in a relationship and leave in a (still happy) relationship, with the tender memories of their first threesome under their belt to boot. Who knows? We'll leave the limits up to what the players are interested in!What are the requirements of the players as writers?
Substance is required. Not going to ask for a word minimum or paragraph quota, but make your posts matter and give your fellow players something to interact with. Also, please interact with other people. You can play a shy character, but remember that the other characters in the game are your character's best friends. What are the requirements of the players as players?Communicate
. We expect PM conversations and other OOC methods of discussion to be common place. We hope for an active OOC. Talk about things and we can weave this into a notable story. A story of young people about to burst into their lives full force and the shenanigans they get up to. Remember to respect boundaries as well! Not everyone is going to have the same likes, Ons/Offs, or ideas as you! So don't try to get them or their character into something that they, the player, don't want to be part of. This goes hand-in-hand with the communication aspect. I would also recommend that players be interested in trying something new! Most importantly, respect everyone involved in the game, both characters and players.Character Sheet:

Name: Full name, please. Include any nicknames in parentheses. Like: Gregory "Gregilicious" Gray
Played by: Player's name here
Age and Birthdate: How old they are and when they were born, presume this is sometime in mid-late June of 2013.
Height and Weight: I'd highly recommend that everyone here use a BMI Calculator and remember that muscle weighs more than fat.
Sexual Orientation: What is their sexual preference? Do note if you would be up for experimentation during the story itself.
Major: What did they major in as a college student?
Background: Any major notes about their life, like if they're wealthy. Things that would most commonly come up as important in your writing and things your as-of-yet uncreated "friends" would know.
Other: Anything else I did not have the foresight to add.
Pretty easy stuff. Many players, and many potential participants, like to develop and decide as they play. So don't feel a need to write a thousand-word character sheet. Nor do you need to make one right away. Can we have multiple characters?
No, at least not to start off. The cast may expand and we may add new players as things get moving, but I'd like for everyone to begin with one character and move from there. The exception is this: people can play NPCs. The pool boy, bellhop, waitress, etc. There will be a need for these other characters to be played and it'd be extremely helpful if people took turns playing them, we'll call them communal NPCs.How do I sign up?
Post in here, include a character sheet if you'd like. We'll prepare the thread(s?) when we have approved three
additional players. How much input do you want from me? I have ideas!
As much as you can give us, please!
Thank you to anyone who has read this through!
Name: Jessica "Jess" Dianna Dehn
Age and Birthdate: 22. 08/03/1991
Height and Weight: 5'6" 140 lbs.
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual. (Her friends might call her bi, but she prefers to think there's more to it than that.)
Major: Graphic Arts
Jess comes from a wealthy, well off family. Both of her parents are alive and still married after 35 years. Despite having means, Jess was the freshman who showed up to her first day of university four years ago with nothing but a suitcase full of clothes and personal belongings, her books and school supplies, and her most prized possessions, her camera equipment. She worked full-time while attending classes, two jobs, if you count selling her photographs on the side. Despite her parents hassling her about money she never asked them for a dime. Still, this didn't prevent her from bringing back an entirely new wardrobe every time she went home for summer or Christmas break. Clothes she usually allowed her friends to borrow without any care if the garments were returned. She prides herself on making it through school on her own terms, and by her own means.
Jess is a very visually artistic person which is most greatly displayed through her love of photography. She has a notorious reputation for always having a camera on her and snapping pictures of people whenever the fancy strikes her. She's sensitive that not everyone likes being photographed, but she'll still tease someone and do her utmost to make them warm up to the camera. Behind a camera she can quite literally do anything. Without her camera quite a different personality is shown. She becomes borderline shy, quiet, and speculative, especially around strangers or in an unfamiliar environment.
Other: Jess is very much the "nerd". She's not exceptionally brainy but she loves video games, anime, manga, TCGs, and pretty much anything else along those lines. Above all though, she enjoys cosplay, and has dragged a number of her friends to Comic-Con and Dragon*Con, as well as E3.
Name: Dylan "Dyl" Raine Cooke
Age/Birthdate: 21/ May 8th, 1992
Height/Weight: 5'8" 115 lbs
Major: Pharmaceutical Studies
Backround: Dylan grew up in a dysfunctional family. With an alcoholic for a father, and a workaholic for a mother. She passed between the two a lot, finally settling for the lesser of two evils with her mother at the age of twelve. Dylan had to grow up fast, and that put her ahead of the maturity curve in her grade and the ones above her. She knew that without drive and motivation, she would never get anywhere, so she put her nose to the brimstone and got to work. Later in high school, Dylan determined that letting loose a bit wouldn't hurt, and that was when she discovered the sensual, fun side of herself. Though it is one that comes out rarely. Her achievements in high school led her to college on a full ride, and far far away from her parents. She is practical, and level headed, though she tends to get a bit whimsical at times. Her nature is light and loving, despite her having to raise herself as a child.
Her financial situation was somewhere in the middle. Never growing up without, though never having the best of everything right when she wanted it. Not that Dylan required more than a bottle of water and a ponytail holder. Her contribution to the group was solely based on her own means, things she had earned through her own job, paying for the small apartment she lived in off campus, near the country as well as food and the like. Her money was earned honestly, though oddly. Modeling jobs here and there, fixing old things she had learned throughout the years, nothing too fancy.
Other: While her gamer side led her into the tight knit group of friends, she prefers to be outside. Hiking, swimming, bike riding, running. Anything that allows her to feel the wind on her face and listen to the song of the trees is a bonus in her mind. She doesn't get particularly close to anybody, unless you've proven to be trustworthy, and she's know you for awhile. Dylan reads people very easily, and is often referred to as a "therapist" leading others to wonder why she didn't pursue a career in psychiatry. She has a Monroe piercing, and a star tattoo on her left side.
Name: Greg Andrew Paice
Age and Birthdate: He is 24, born September 29th 1988.
Height and Weight: 6’3” and 195lbs.
Sexual Orientation: He would call himself bi-curious. He enjoys women but has never had any problems involving other men in multiple partner “pairings” and has fantasized about exploring more though hasn’t acted on his thoughts to date.
Major: Bachelors in Music Performance (Contemporary Styles), with a minor in Audio Production.
Background: Greg grew up in a musical family, his mother was a piano teacher and his father a choir director for the local church. Greg took piano lessons from his mother from a very early age but wasn't fond of the rigidness of classical music. His father taught him to sing strong and loud. The only other member of the family was Greg's older brother, Kyle. Kyle was already 12 when Greg was born and as such rebelled against their parents most of Greg's younger years. As such he moved out to college across the state.
At the age of 12 Greg walked into his brother’s room and found a black electric guitar. He picked it up and made some noise and has been playing ever since that day. After jamming with some friends in his basement they started getting some stuff together with a couple in a trailer in the middle of nowhere. The trailer was cold in the winter and infested by bees in the summer. The mic’s use to shock their lips because of grounding issues but they we started working on their own songs. Working with a great producer, tough times and having a Psycho girlfriend started to make some killer tunes. All in small Town USA. Greg realized he had to move to the city to be closer to the music scene and just how much he still had to learn. So he packed his bags and headed for college. It was a big change for a small towner but he learned and he played building his skills and writing songs is what he did. His hard work paid off when an HR manager was invited to Greg’s senior showcase by one of his instructors and really liked what he heard. Signing Greg and shipping him to Los Angeles at the end of Summer for a crash course at Musician’s Institute to pick up some band mates and then heading out on tour. For now Greg is excited to be spending time with his friends, writing songs, and simply enjoying the resort and looking forward to what is to come.
Other: Greg is out spoken, outgoing and generally a nice helpful guy. He dreams of being a famous rock star but has always tried to avoid the “egotistical, greedy, only out for himself and the dollar sign” mentality that can go with fame.
Name: Name: Reynald Waters.
Played by: Jackalope
Age and Birthdate: 22 - 21st of November, 1990
Height and Weight: 5'8" 154lbs
Sexual Orientation: If you asked, he'd just say bisexual. He is infatuated with the idea of having sex with another man but has never actually found himself physically attracted to one.
Major: English Literature
Description: He's not exactly a picture of human perfection. At 5'8" he's shorter than most guys and although his shoulders and chest are quite broad as well as his neck which barely fits into most shirt collars he isn't particularly muscular. He's been working on it lately and it's starting to show but he's far from herculean, maintaining a pretty modest muscle structure and a pert butt (which has been called cute, somewhat to his dismay) with little tone to it. He's got a fairly strong jaw, but it's subtly defined like his cheekbones. Although he's not particularly well tanned, he still looks pretty healthy. He's not gaunt or skinny and the pale look seems to work for him. He's never had any particular way of keeping his brown hair and since he decided he didn't want it long any more he hasn't had a clue what to do with it so most of the time it's just a bit messy, but for now it's quite short but he still has enough to work with if he ever decides to which almost seems a waste, what with it being so full and thick. As for his face, he tries to stay clean shaven if he's ever around people. Even at 22 his facial hair still doesn't grow into anything resembling a beard or even sideburns. It probably wouldn't suit him anyway. The rest of his body isn't particularly hairy either aside from his lower legs and knees. Something he allegedly inherited from his father. His eyes are green and unfortunately they aren't perfect so he chose some tasteful, narrow rectangular frames and the right earpiece frequently catches his scaffold piercing (His only piercing). His fingers are slender but not quite dainty and his hands don't look as if they've ever done any manual labor. Suited for the more dexterous tasks that he's quite adept at. His fingernails aren't manicured to perfection but he'd rather clip them than bite them. While he's usually all jeans, t-shirts (Often slim fitting jeans though never skinny jeans. He's firmly opposed to them on men.) and converse shoes he's not one to turn down an opportunity to dress up and he's very fond of waistcoats, even worn casually with rolled up shirt sleeves. Having said that, he also has a pair of British standard issue army boots kicking around for the colder months and his wardrobe is generally pretty diverse.
Background: Born to an English barrister and a French surgeon it could easily be said that Reynald had a lot of breaks in life. He never really wanted for anything, he was given piano lessons and he had some of the best education available wherever he went, but what with their incredibly busy schedules, his parents rarely had time to spend with him or even each other. During his early years this was rarely an issue because he had no trouble making friends and every one of his other needs was met by their money, but his parents' jobs took a heavy toll on their relationship and it soon became clear to his mother that his father was far more concerned with his work than he was with her. Before Reynald finished secondary school, his parents divorced and seeking a fresh start his mother decided to move back to France. Reynald wanted to stay. He had a lot of friends he didn't want to leave behind. His mother visited as often as she could and he grew closer to her during those times than he ever had when he lived with her. But soon a combination of his own teen angst and his father incessantly pushing him toward studying law drove him out of his home and when his mother told him her visits would be fewer because she was moving to America, he insisted that she take him with her. It was around this time that he gave up on the piano entirely, throwing away years of practice. At sixteen years old, moving into a new home in a new country he began a new life, but his experience had taken a harsh toll and as if growing up wasn't difficult enough in itself his rapidly worsening outlook on life made it very difficult to get close to other people. Eventually it was a girl who turned him around. All he really needed was something to make him happy. Take his mind off the self loathing and make him generally a much more pleasant person to be around. This late high school love didn't work out, as is so often the case, but he left high school without his shell and has since been far more content with his lot in life.
These days, he's generally quite outgoing and friendly. Certainly polite and often considered charming. He remains as cynical as ever and isn't afraid of mounting the high horse but it's become more of an endearing trait than an irritating character flaw. He has little hatred for the world any more and simply chooses to ignore it as best he can and get on with his own life. He even took piano up again although he has little intention of being graded any more. He remains difficult to get on with for many, but his friends have a special place in his life and his loyalty to them is firm. He is easy to talk to when he's not being opinionated and is capable of reasoning or manipulating his way through almost anything. One thing he has truly come to loath is completely unreasonable people. He somehow managed to cruise through college without rubbing anyone the wrong way and although he has yet to find a job, a building society account opened by his parents before he was born has seen him through the last four years and paid for his share of the holiday and he shows no signs of worrying about his money running out.
Other: He has nearly finished his novel which he has thus far refused to let anyone read. He speaks fluent french thanks to his mother (Who happens to be incredibly attractive, causing Reynald no end of teasing from friends and strangers alike).
Name: Alexander "Alex" Rudin
Played by: Jecter
Age and Birthdate: 22nd March 1991
Height and Weight: 5'11, 170lbs
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual, never been interested in men
Major: History (major) Religious Studies (minor)
Background:Alex was born into an upper-middle class family of, eventually, five as the middle child. His father was a hardworking manager in a construction company and his mother a senior administrator. They weren't rich, but they were certainly comfortable, just the five of them, mother father, older sister and younger brother.
For as long as he could remember, Alex has been interested in history, seeing it not as the boring subject that all must suffer through that the shows and movies portrayed it as, but as the greatest story being told. Of course he went through the world war two and knights in shining armour phase like most young boys, but his interest held him and forced him to go back even further. Though he was certainly intrigued by the ancient Greeks, and definitely enjoyed the Romans, it was the Byzantine Empire that truly fascinated him. All through high school he learned about them. He was there, in mind if not body, when Belisarius held Rome, when Heraclius defeated the Persians and when Constantinople, The City itself, fell to the Turkish invaders.
It was no surprise then that he decided to study History in college, but then he took things a step further when he declared he was aiming for a doctorate so he could teach his beloved subject to a new generation.
Other: Despite the increased emphasis he placed on his studies, Alex was also really in to video games. While he did enjoy the occasional FPS, he really likes party games and the grand strategy style of games. When he isn't either studying or gaming with friends he enjoys cycling around town or simply relaxing and enjoying not having to think or worry for a couple of hours.
Personality: Alex can be something of a bastard at times, dropping the odd sarcastic or cutting remark in a situation that can underscore a happy moment or make a shitty moment even worse. He doesn't talk much and many people who do not know him think him far too serious and antisocial. Those who he does take the time to get to know learn that he does have a lighter side, though it is tempered by his dark idea of humor. He has no explanation for why he acts like he does, or at least none that he plans to share with anyone. Of course he isn't all bastardry, never refusing a friend help if it is needed and has even been known to help some of the first and second years with their history essays. At times he can be a walking contradiction, his words giving off one impression of him while his actions can give off the opposite idea. He doesn't pretend to understand it, and just accepts it for who he is.
